chapter 6
A/N: Ah, there is no home like the hospital. Yep, that's right. I'm back in the hospital, though this time there are no IVs going up my arms and I have my laptop, so I will be able to write more chapters.
Enjoy!
Chapter 6
Once again Ra rose over the Egyptian sky in his chariot as a golden boy opened his eyes and stared at his master in sheer bliss.
Seth had been awake for quit some time now. His mind had been bothering him again. He knew that he cared for Jono more than he ever wanted to care for anyone. How could he allow himself to get this weak?
Seth suddenly looked at Jono, who was very comfortably nuzzling his chest, as he felt the boy move. Jono’s honey orbs locked with nile-blue ones and the boy smiled. Seth couldn’t help but smile back and all of a sudden the golden boy kissed him.
Seth’s first impulse was to open his mouth to allow the boy better access. But a second later, he pushed Jono away and got up abruptly.
“I have to go.” This was all the explanation Jono got before watching Seth gather his things and leave.
Jono was just seating in his master’s bed, still confused about the taller one’s behavior. Did he do something wrong last night? He thought his master liked it as much as he did. Was he wrong? Maybe his master really did need to be some place and he held him back by sleeping on him. Jono looked ready to cry. As a matter of fact, his eyes were already getting teary, the droplets getting ready to drop.
Seth had no idea what he was going to do. After leaving his slave he had taken a quick shower and was now heading towards the gardens. Maybe some solitude would do him some good. After all, it always helped him before.
Seth entered into the most secluded part of the gardens and started thinking. At first, he had no idea what to think about. His thoughts always shifted towards Jono, but he didn’t want to think about the blond right now.
Instead, Seth tried concentrating on something else. He had a conference coming up with the rest of the priests to discuss the upcoming tribute to Set, his god. The ceremony had to be perfect. Set’s statue was being cleaned right now. He should have his slaves…
His thoughts drafted towards Jono once more.
No! He had to concentrate on the upcoming ceremony. His jewelry had to be set up right. He needed gold. Gold was the only thing worthy for his god. It also looked nice, especially on his golden slave…
Seth couldn’t stand this any longer. Every time he tried to concentrate on something else, his thoughts drifted back to Jono. He really needed help… but he was Seth. He helped others. He never needed help. What was the blond doing to him?!
Seth was losing his mind, literally, to Jono. Suddenly he realized that the sun was straight above his head, meaning that he had just spent his whole morning arguing with himself. As soon as he realized this, he started walking rather fast towards the great hall. Atemu had called a meeting today to discuss the upcoming festival, and maybe this meeting would do Seth some good. If he was surrounded by other people maybe his thoughts wouldn’t drift towards the golden boy who was lying in his bed, naked… He really needed to get over this!!!
The meeting was as boring as always. And, of course, Seth had not been able to concentrate on anything except for Jono. This was developing into and obsession. Seth had even avoided going back to his quarters because he didn’t want to run into the blond.
“Seth. Why are you doing this to yourself?” Atemu and his ever-watchful eyes (including his shonnen eye) had seen Seth’s soul and it didn’t take a genius to figure our why Seth was sad this time.
“What are you talking about? I am fine.” Seth knew that it was useless trying to lie to his cousin, but it would at least kill some more time.
“Seth. Talk to me.” Atemu was once again getting worried about his cousin. It was starting more and more to look like his cousin enjoyed being alone and sad. It was as if he thrived on pain.
“It is a weakness to get too close to anyone. Love is a man’s greatest weakness, and I am not weak.”
“That’s where you’re wrong Seth. Love gives strength: strength to go on when there is no hope, strength to live through pain, strength to do the impossible. You drive that strength away, and that’s what makes you weak.”
Seth just sighed. It went against everything he ever believed in, but Atemu did make sense. It was no mystery that the world’s greatest accomplishments were made by men, but they were made for the men’s love for a woman. Well, he loved a boy; a cute, little, blond boy who was waiting for him to come home.
But he couldn’t bring himself to openly admit that. If others knew that he loved his slave, they would know a weakness that they could use against him, and he just couldn’t allow that.
Without further words, Seth got up and finally headed home.
He couldn’t admit that he loved the boy, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t have fun with him.
But as Seth entered his house and took in the situation there, his heart almost broke in half at what he found.
Enjoy!
