All I Have

Yugi's breath's came in pants he was sitting in the hallway eyes tightly closed the jackal clutched tight to his chest. He could feel them, surrounding him, snuffling him, peering at him. The darkness was complete, they were going to get him, hurt him, eat him. His heart was hammering hard in his chest and slowly oh so slowly he opened his eyes to peer unseeing into the night. The death grip he had on the dog tightened as he gathered up all of his strength to get up. He never got that far.

There was a boom from the front of the hallway and the front door was flung open. A stream of light ran down the hallways. "Hello? Tri City Police--"

Yugi screamed again not really hearing what the voice was saying, leaping to his feet and making a blind run for his room. He ran through the opened door and turned slamming the door shut. He made a leap and landed in the pile of covers. Wriggling until he was completely under all of the blankets and pillows. Jackal clutched to his chest and his heart hammering in his ears he covered his head with his other arm and whimpered.

The police officer stood stock still after hearing a childs scream and then a blur as the child in question flew into a room and slammed the door. "What the hell." The house reeked, he saw a light switch and flicked it. Nothing happened. He continued on into the house. He breathed out slowly seeing his breath. What the hell was going on here. He didn't think there had been any robbery, and by the looks of the house, no electricity and no heat, no one should be in here. But what's with the kid.

Another man came up behind him. "You ok, Tetsu? I heard a scream."

"No there's a kid in here." Tetsu paused. "I think I scared the shit outta him though. Im going to check on him. See if you can find anyone else in the house." The younger officer nodded once and continued to check the rest of the house.

Officer Tetsu stopped in front of the door the child had slammed shut. Flashing his light on the door handle he paused and then knocked. "Hello? This is officer Tetsu some one reported a robbery."

Yugi's eyes widened from under the blankets. He pulled the covers down off of him just as the door opened and a man in uniform with a flashlight stepped in. He shined it on Yugi and the boy flinched away from the light. "Hey there kiddo." Yugi just blinked at him.

The boy looked around five. Tetsu took in the candles, batteries, food wrappers, and flashlights. Frowning. "Im officer Tetsu, what's your name." He pushed some stuff away from the floor near the bed and crouched.

Yugi still stared at him. Tetsu suppressed a sigh. "Where are your parents?" The boy looked down clutching the blankets with one hand the other wrapped securely around the jackal. He shrugged his shoulders slightly and looked up again as the younger officer came in the door way.

"Tetsu, nobody here looks and like Electricity, water and heat have been cut off." He stopped talking when he saw the boy on the bed.

Tetsu nodded, "Hey kiddo, this here is Officer Satomi, he's gonna sit here for a minute with ya ok." Satomi nodded and walked closer as Tetsu stood from his crouch, "I'll be right back."

He pulled his walkie from the clip on his hip. "Officer Tetsu Rigaru, badge 203 to dispatch." He waited for the response.
"Dispatch go ahead."

"Was called to a possible Robbery, but we may have child abbandonment. I've got a near five year old here in this house with no heat, no electricity, and no water. He's been here for a while." Tetsu grimaced at the bathroom and closed the door.

He gave the address. Walking back towards the room he spied mail on a coffee table near the end of the hall he picked it up and gave dispatch the name on the envelope. Shut off notice's he grimaced.

"Dispatch to Tetsu."

"Yeah,"

"Bring em in social services is going to be called in. We'll figure something out from there."

"Got it." He strode back into the room. Satomi was sitting on the bed with the boy.

"You get a name yet?" Yugi frowned then whispered his name Satomi had to strain just to here it.

"Yugi?" He smiled encouragingly. "Is that your name?" The boy nodded.

"Ok Yugi, Lets grab your coat and shoes ok?" Yugi swallowed and gripped the jackal. He pushed the blankets away slowly as Satomi stood up. He reached down and plucked the child from the bed. Yugi's eyes widened and he clutched to the officer unused to being carried.

Tetsu was peering in the closet. "Where's your shoes and jacket Kiddo." Yugi pointed to the doorway and Satomi made his way out into the hallway. Stopping at the small closet near the front door he scooped up the shoes and sat Yugi on the coffee table helping him with his shoes and jacket.

Officer Tetsu stood there a moment thinking and having made a decision he reached in a couple of the drawers grabbing a pair of pants and a sweater of the boy, by accident he found socks and underwear. He turned shaking his head as he walked out of the room. How anyone could just abandon there kid like this was just wrong. It looked as though the young Yugi had been in the house alone for a good week or more. He spied the unused candles and clenched his teeth. Thank god for the bogus robbery call.

"Im going to get him situated in the car Tetsu."

He nodded, "Im about done in here."

A/N: I thought it was about time I got this out for all you to see. I really wanted to get Yami in this but with writers block, work, and having Viral Meningitis I'm really late in getting this out. I've thought about it and thought about it and I think I've found the way I want to introduce Yami into this. Again sorry for the filler chapter and no Yami I've been really really sick lately.
