Normal P.O.V.
The scene again changed. Seto was prepared this time. “Where are we now?”
“Same day, a few hours later.”
Jani was looking inside the chest. A look of fascination was on his face as he picked up a jeweled necklace. “He expects me to wear these? These are too fine of items for me to wear. They are all so rich. I have been through this chest three times, and have yet to choose something. This necklace is interesting, though.” He held up an exact replica of the necklace the future Jou was wearing around his neck.
“The Millennium necklace?”
“It did not have any power at that time. That happens later…much later.”
“After Yami and I become enemies?”
“You begin to become enemies.” Jou nodded his head affirmatively. They turned back to watch.
Jani slowly chose the necklace and two arm bands that went around his biceps. He stood up. He walked to the mirror to see himself. “Is this me? I don’t believe it. I’m wearing fine clothes and I am wearing gold. I must be dreaming.” He stuck his tongue out at his own reflection. He turned to move away from the mirror, but tripped over the low stool he did not see near his feet.
He went sprawling onto the floor. The table below the mirror shook. Cards rained down on top of his head. “Oh no! He’ll kill me for sure this time. I have to get them all up before he comes back. I hope they were not in a certain order.”
He scrambled around the floor, furiously picking up the scattered cards. He slowed as he picked each one up to stare at the images on the stiff papyrus paper. A roaring black dragon with red eyes stared back at him. “Wow. You’re amazing. I wonder if the priest will take you. He is said to be the dragon master.” He paused before giving a happy laugh. “Oh! Maybe he will summon one if I ask him. I have always wanted to see a dragon.”
A low rumble filled the air. Seto whirled to see a miniature black dragon floating into the room. It flew to dance around Jani’s head. Jani shrieked. “Augh! Augh! What are you?” The dragon stopped in front of his face. It seemed to purr like a cat. Jani gasped and looked at the small card in his hand. It was blank. “Did…did..I do that?”
The dragon flew in a circle, giving what sounded like a barking noise. It landed in the golden locks. “Hey! Get out of my hair!” The dragon just snorted before curling up into a small ball. Jani yelped as he tried to pull it out, only to have claws sink into his tender scalp. “I’m dead for sure now.”
“No, you are not.” An unfamiliar voice stated from next to the wall. “I think he will be pleased.”
Whirling, Jani stared at the armored figure leaning against the wall. “Who are you?”
“The Flame Swordsman. I am one of your new cards. We have claimed you as our new master. We felt your kindness as you retrieved us from the floor. We chose you. Seth can not take us away once that has been done.”

The scene shifted to a formal room filled with chairs. Seto saw Yami jerk. He turned to Seth and hissed under his breath. “Did you just feel that?”
“Yes, I did.”
“Someone has summoned monsters near by…very close by. I wonder who it could be. Yugi does not summon unless he is being attacked. Everyone else who has that ability is sitting right here in this room. Yugi!” Yami jerked up. “He might be in trouble!” Without stopping, or explaining, he ran out of the room, the priest hot on his heels.
Even in this time, the pharaoh protects his little love. They flew down the hallways. Seto and Jou had trouble keeping up through the twists and turns.
Yami barged through a door gilded in gold. Yugi was lying serenely on the bed. “He’s asleep.” Yami looked around confused. “Yugi’s half of my deck is still on the desk, unmoved.”
“Then who was summoning monsters?”
“Search the castle. We may have an intruder.”
“Yes, your highness.”

The room shifted back to Jani. He was playing with two little funny colored goats. The dragon was still asleep in his hair. “So, I can call you any time I want?”
“Yes.”
“Cool!”
“We will protect you from any harm. That little dragon on your head is not always so little. He is a vicious thing that I would not want to cross. Anyone would be roasted in an instant from his fire blast. Only a few creatures can withstand its attack. I can be just as bad, if I want to be. We will not let harm come to you if we can prevent it.”
“Thank you.”
“Would you like to meet Seth’s dragons?”
“I can do that?”
“Yes. Do you see that locked box over there on the third shelf?”
“I didn’t notice that earlier.”
“Touch the top of it and say the words blue eyes.”
“Okay.” He stood up. He slowly walked over to the shelf. With a shaking hand he touched the top of the gilded container. “Blue eyes.” Three bright flashes of white blinded his eyes. Three sets of happy dragon yips filled his ears. Seto stared at the three familiar figures flying around Jani.
“They have not been summoned for a while, as the high priest has been busy, and were wanting some free time. They are saying thank you.”
“They’re welcome.”
Soon after, the black dragon woke with a snort. It gave a yip of surprise when it saw three sets of blue eyes staring at it. It growled and began to grow in size. The three dragons quickly bowed their heads and began to purr. “What’s going on?”
“He thinks the dragons are trying to harm you. Stop him.” The swordsman ran forward in case he had to protect his new master from the possibility of a dragon fight.
“Stop it. I’m the one that summoned them. Leave them alone.” The dragon placated. The swordsman returned to his position next to the window.
A few minutes later a game of dragon tag commenced. Jani joined in, laughing, forgetting about his wounded ankle. “Hey! No fair! I can’t fly!” He leapt as high as he could in the air, attempting to touch the dragon hovering above his head. It yipped in what Jani and Seto now recognized as dragon laughter.
“What is going on here?!”
Jani yelped in surprise as he fell to the ground. He rubbed at his now sore rear end. “Seth, you’re back!”
Seth just stared at him with a cold look on his face. Jani slowly realized the priest was not happy. He had felt his dragons being summoned and immediately ran to his room expecting to fight intruders and protect Jani, not mass dragon chaos. “Again, I repeat. What is going on here?”
“Allow me to explain, sir, as you know I can not lie.” The figure in blue and orange armor stepped forward.
“Go on.” The priest nodded.
The swordsman again came into the middle of the room. He proceeded to explain the earlier events to Seth. “As you know, our previous master was killed by a thief wanting the red eyes.” The little dragon growled. Jani stroked it across its back. It began to purr happily, rolling onto its back while still flying in the air. Jani laughed softly. “Since we were without a master, we chose him. We meant no disrespect or harm.” The figure bent slightly in a bow.
“You and the others chose him as master?”
“Yes.”
The priest sighed, while stroking two of the purring blue eyes along their necks. “Then I, nor anyone else, can say no or deny this without killing him.”
“Which you are not going to do.” The swordsman moved his hand toward his weapon. The black dragon’s eyes lit up red fire and started to growl at the priest. The white dragons returned the growl with three of their own.
“No.” All the monsters immediately relaxed. “I knew there was a reason I felt so strong a desire to travel through the city tonight. It was you. You must have some connection to the monsters. That is what called them so easily to you. Destiny works in mysterious ways.” The priest shook his head. “At least he will be protected while I am away during the day.”
“Correct.” The Flame Swordsman nodded his head.
“I..I can..keep them?” Jani looked excitedly at the priest.
Seth nodded with a slight smile. “Yes, Jani, you can. I can’t say no, as it was not my choice.”
“Yeah!” He moved to hug the priest, but paused. At the priest’s nod, he wrapped his arms around his waist. “Thank you!” Seth lightly returned the hug before releasing him.
“Take this message to Yami.” Seth wrote quickly on a piece of papyrus and handed it to the nearest blue eyes. “Come back after you have delivered it. I haven’t seen you three in a while.” He gave the dragon a pat on the head. It flew off quickly.
“You really are the dragon master.” The red eyed dragon was again curled in the blond hair.
“It seems I can control every dragon, except one.” Seth smiled. “Or can I? Come here. I want to see what you look like. You are going to be protecting Jani after all.” He crooked a finger at the dragon staring at him.
The red eyes perked up. It stretched languidly. It flew lazily to Seth. It yipped in greeting. Seth looked at the dragon as it modeled itself for him quite vainly. “You are a beautiful dragon. You face is more angular than a blue eyes, you’re more slender, and your wings are different.” The happy dragon purred as he gave it a pat.
Suddenly the priest was surrounded by four happy dragons. The returned blue eyes clutched a message in its claws. Seto just stared as he watched his past self play with the dragons flying about him. Jani laughed happily while playing along with them. Jou smiled from his seat near the window. “I think he likes you, Seth.”
“I think so, too.” Seth smiled at the grinning Jani.
