Not Just a Secret Anymore
Chapter 6: Hard Times
3:30 finally comes and Jou immediately dials Yugi's cell phone.
"Moshi moshi." answers Yugi.
"Yugi?"
"Jou, where are you?" asks Yugi. "I'm looking all over for you!"
"Kaiba and I got suspended from school today."
"How long?"
"Until the mess cools down."
"That could be never! What are you going to do about your job? If you need a somewhere
to stay, then you can always come to my place. My mom and grandpa will be glad to have you."
"Thanks Yugi. I have to quit my job and Kaiba's going to help me with my rent and other
stuff."
"That's good."
"Have you seen anyone yet?" asks Jou.
"No. It's amazing. If they do attend Domino High, then surely we would see them during
the day. It seems that no one even knows their names."
"Well, if you or the others find out anything. Please let us know immediately."
"Don't worry, we will. I'll call you later. Ok Jou."
"I'll be here. Ja."
"Ja ne."
A week passes and still nothing about who could have did the video. Kaiba has called
the resort they stayed, but they reported nothing suspicious went on that weekend. They
had taken extra precautions to ensure their complete privacy.
"Seto? Why do you think those people did that to us?" asks Jou.
"I don't know koi. It seems like we're on an endless and wild goose chase in finding the
men who did it." replies Kaiba as he puts a rather large dent into the wall.
'Knock knock'
"Kaiba-sama? Domino City Board of Custody on the phone for you." Izono says to
him.
"I'll take it in here. Thank you Izono." Kaiba says picking up the phone. "Moshi
moshi."
"Kaiba-sama. This is Hakati Ana from Board of Custody. I'm calling to inform you of
a hearing tomorrow concerning your brother, Kaiba Mokuba."
Kaiba's head drops in disbelief.
"You are aware of the terms on which we agreed to."
"Hai."
"You have violated Term 1. Which was for you to be in school at least 3 days of the
week. I have received reports from Domino High that you have been absent every day
this week."
"I am suspended."
"Kaiba-sama, that is not a valid excuse. Suspensions count against your record. Your
hearing will be towmorrow morning at 9am."
"Thank you. Goodbye."
"Thanks and have a good evening Kaiba-sama."
The phone drops from Kaiba's hand as he stares blankly at the wall.
"Seto? Koi? What did they say?" asks Jou.
"I have a hearing in the morning. 9am. Most likely my brother will be put up for
adoption, and I'll..."
Kaiba starts shaking. Never had Jou seen him so weakened. His brother is his life...and to
find out that he may be taken away is like being shot in the heart.
"Mo..kuba... I may never see him again... I know people from around the world will come
to try to adopt him...It'll be like an auction. My brother will literally be auctioned to the
highest bidder..."
Jou slaps Kaiba.
"Just listen to yourself Seto! You're disgusting me! I understand losing your only family
will be hard, but you will see Mokuba again! Hell you're Seto Kaiba. You literally rule
the world."
Kaiba looks at Jou.
"You...are right. We need to take every measure possible to prevent my brother from
being taken away from me. After that, we will not stop until we find the ones who did
the vidnd tnd the guys selling them."
"Now THAT's the Seto Kaiba I know!" Jou says smiling.
Jou's cell phone rings. He looks at the caller id, then answers it.
"Turn on the TV to DNN NOW!!" yells Honda.
Jou grabs the remote and turns on the TV. Luckily, it's already on DNN.
"What's going on Honda?" asks Jou.
"The custody issue." replies Honda.
"Damn, it hasn't even been 5 minutes and it's already on the news."
"5 minutes? You mean Kaiba-kun just found out 5 minutes ago?"
"Yea." replies Jou.
"How's Kaiba-kun handling things?" asks Honda.
"Been a roller coaster and we're going deeper and deeper by the minute." replies Jou.
"We still haven't found out anything or seen hide or hair of the Ryou and Yugi look-alikes."
"Damn. Let me talk to you later ok."
"Ok then, bye."
"Ja ne."
Jou hangs the phone up and places it on the nightstand. He looks at Kaiba who looks like
he could blow up the world with his ice-like gaze.
The news concludes and Jou turns the tv off.
"Jounouchi...I have...I want to ask you something." Kaiba says sadly.
"You called me by my full family name. What's the matter?" asks Jou.
"I want you to leave me."
Jou could feel his heart skip a beat and almost stop dead in its track when he heard
those words come from his one and only.
"Seto...you're not serious are you?!"
"I just want for us to be seperated for a while. If this keeps going on, then I'll drag
you down with me and I can't stand to see you hurt or in trouble."
Jou looks at Kaiba blankly.
"Didn't you hear me?! Go! Leave!" yells Kaiba as he could feel the tears swell in his
eyes and begin to shower down his face.
Jou picks up a towel and wipes Kaiba's face.
"Iya, never! I am not going to leave you Seto. I love you too much to abandon you at a
time like this, when you need me the most."
"I'm not asking, I'm demanding you to leave me!"
