The Sweetest Taboo

OH YEAH!! The long awaited aftermath!!! How does Joey and Yugi react? Oh and a secret is revealed...one of Yugi's crushes finally comes to light!! A couple of people guessed, and they were dead on!! Good job!! I hope you like this one, I loved writing it.

For a moment, everyone stayed frozen in his relative position. For a moment.

Then all hell broke loose.

“YOU SON OF A BITCH!” Joey yelled at the top of his lungs, charging both Yami and Seto and knocking Yami off Seto onto the floor. Joey’s hands were around Seto’s neck in a vise grip, literally choking the boy almost to death, it seemed. Seto struggled with Joey, eventually prying the boy off his throat and onto the floor.

Yami, having fallen to the floor was able to get his pants and put them on in a hurry, turning slowly to face his Aibou, who hadn’t moved from his post by the door. Yugi’s violet eyes were filled with tears of hurt, shock and anger as he faced Yami squarely.

“Why?” Yugi whispered. The pain in his voice was almost too much for Yami to bear.

“Yugi, please understand that I didn’t mean for this to ha. I. I love you, you must believe that.”

“Love?” Yugi asked, his voice taking on a hysterical, angry note. “LOVE?!? Is this your idea of love? You fucking Seto behind my back is your way of expressing love?” He shook his head sadly, the tears running down his face like faucets. “If this is your idea of ‘love’, then please take it and shove it up your ass. Someone who really loved me wouldn’t need to seek out another. I should be all you need, or nothing at all.”

Yami gasped, not expecting such language to come from Yugi’s mouth. Shaking his head and holding out his hands, he said, “This isn’t like you, Yugi. Please come with me and let me explain.”

“No explanations are needed,” Yugi said, still crying. “Obviously you wanted to be with Seto without me telling you…..”

“Without telling me what, Yugi? Talk to me, Aibou.”

“Aibou? AIBOU?! Do you even know what that means? Obviously that term doesn’t mean shit to you, so whll mll me that? From now on my name is Yugi to you. Matter of fact, don’t even speak to me when I return home.” His chest heaving, he turned his back to leave, his heart breaking further with every step. Behind him, he heard Yami’s pain-filled gasp, and didn’t dare turn around. If he did, his resolve would break. He couldn’t let Yami think it was okay to cheat on him, even if one of the people he hurt was one he coveted as well.

Yami hung his head in shame, then turned to face Seto and Joey. Joey was still on the floor, head down, obviously crying. Seto looked as though someone had torn up all three of his BEWDs. He’d taken a corner of the sheet to cover himself, and looked at Yami with regret and shame. Yami swallowed hard, then called forth his Puzzle. Looking at Joey on e last time, he said, “I am sorry Joey. You must believe me, even if Yugi doesn’t. We never meant for this to happen. I will be in my Soul Room. I need space and time to think of the consequences of my actions.” With a flash of light, Yami disappeared inside his Puzzle. Then and only then did the self-hatred and anger begin.

Joey then raised his head to face Seto. Blue eyes met amber.

“I knew for the longest time you were cheating on me, I just didn’t know with who,” Joey began. “How could you do this to me? I was thinking that you changed, but obviously you’re still the same asshole Seto Kaiba we knew at Duelist Kingdom.”

“Joey, I’m sorry, “ Seto said, his voice choked. “It just…happened. Please let me explain to you. I don’t want to lose you.”

“No, the fuck you didn’t,” Joey said, his voice becoming hard with anger. “That’s so like you, Seto. You always hate to lose a possession. Well this is one possession you’ve lost. I hope your selfish ass has realized the impact of what you’ve done. Not only have you cost yourself me, you’ve cost Yugi the other half of his soul. His SOUL, Kaiba. Oh wait….I keep forgetting, soulless selfish pricks like yourself don’t realize the impact of that statement.” Pushing himself upward, Joey turned to leave.

Turning around once more, he looked at Seto, who had pain written across his face. “I never want to see you again. Let your inventions and company keep you warm at night, because I sure as hell won’t. Yugi may forgive you faster than I ever will, you can bet on that.” With that said, Joey left the shop to look for Yugi.

Seto rose from the bed, standing up slowly. The tears raced down his cheeks, and his breath hitched from crying so hard. He’d lost Joey, the second most important person in the world to him...all because of his own selfish needs. “What have I done?” he whispered to himself.

Dressing quickly, he picked up his keys, then headed downstairs. Walking to the back door, his eyes widened in shock as he saw his car. Joey had keyed the word ‘BASTARD’ on the hood, the doors, and the trunk of the car, ruining the finish. Seto didn’t even get mad. He just shook his head, then muttered to himself, “I deserve all that and more. How will I face them at school, knowing I have wronged them both? This is one time all the money I have won’t be able to fix a problem.” He sighed dejectedly, then hopped into his car and left.

In his Soul Room, Yami tried to go over to Yugi’s room, but Exodia had explained to him in a no-nonsense tone that Yugi has no desire to hear him or see him. Yami sighed heavily, then went into his own Soul Room. Closing the door, he laid his head against it, then jumped when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Whirling around, he saw it was Kage, the Dark Magician.

Without a word, Kage held his arms out to Yami , inviting him to a hug. With a self-depreciating sound, Yami rushed into his arms. Kage just held him tightly, not saying a word.

“Oh, Kage,” Yami said, voice full of pain. “I have done my hikari so wrong. I know that this isn’t Ancient Egypt, and Seto is no longer my High Priest, but I couldn’t help myself. It felt so natural to make love with him again, as I had hungered to do for so many millenia. I am such a fool! I’ll never be able to win Yugi back.”

“Ah, there you are wrong, Master,” Kage said. “I know who young master Yugi was talking about before he caught himself.”

“You do?” Yami said, his voice full of wonder. “Who? Please tell me.”

“Yugi would be furious if I did, and he would not trust me again,” Kage said. “But I will tell you this much…. Yugi used that Puzzle to gain a friend, and he got Joey. Before he met you, Joey had your current position…as protector, friend……..”

“And lover,” Yami finished in a hushed whisper. “Oh dear Ra. But how is that possible? Yugi was a virgin when I first made love to him.”

“Yes he was a virgin, in the physical sense,” Kage said. “However, he and Joey shared a few kisses and intimate touches before he knew of your existence. Both boys wanted to deny their feeli so so they never acted on it again. They decided they’d be better friends than lovers. I’ve already told you more than I should have, but there are two others Yugi covets as well. You know who they are. I will not say more. I want you to rest now. You will need your strength.”

Kage reached out, and took Yami’s hand leading him over to his massive bed, with its four tall posts and deep purple silk covers. He pulled the covers back and laid Yami down gently. With an exhausted sigh, Yami closed his eyes, sighing wearily. Within minutes, he was asleep.

“Sleep, my master,” Kage whispered. “I shall be here for you always.”

The song above is "Yubiwa," which means 'ring' in Japanese. It comes from the Escaflowne movie. It also suited the chapter...a plea to not leave, stay anstensten. I love that song!!

Well now, for those who guessed Joey was one of Yugi's crushes, you get a big box of Pocky. I see we have some real smart cookies out there in cyberland!!
