Chapter 6: Trying To Figure The Mystery

Damn, I had one hell of a migraine! When I woke up off the floor, I could see two people standing over me: Liz and Mokuba. They looked down at me in concern. ok? ok?" Mokuba asked. "Tell me I'm dreamin'," I whispered. "He's really pregnant?" Liz nodded. "Although I don't know what's really going on here." Oh yeah, Wheeler. Tell a three-year-old about where babies come from when she's not ready to hear this! Wait, I take part of that back. I'm not ready to hear this! How can I give a proper explaination when it was a guy here pregnant and got a girl?! Calm down, Joseph Wheeler, get ahold of yourself. There has to be a reason for this.

Think like Scooby Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang for once in your life!

I slowly sat up and grunted at the amount of pain in my head. Mokuba handed me an ice pack and I took it. "Th," I," I said and put it to my head. Liz's head jerked toward Seto's room and she walked inside and climbed up on the bed with him. "You ok, Papa?" she asked in concern as she snuggled against him. He held her close. "Yeah," he sighed. "Just still shocked." "Does this mean I'll be a big sister now?" she asked looking up at him. I watched this a moment. She was giving her famous I'm So Cute, You Can't Resist Me look. He smiled a bit and nodded. "You'll help with the baby, right?" he asked. She grinned nodding. "For once I'm not the baby anymore!" she said happily. "Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!" Seto and I exchanged an amused glance and just chuckled. "How ya feelin'?" I asked sitting beside them followed by Mokuba. Seto covered Liz's ears then. "Like shit," he admitted. "How the hell did I get this way anyway?" I sighed. "I'm still tryin' to figure dat out," I said. "I nevah heard of a guy havin' a baby." "Me neither," he said. "Call Bakura. He might know something since he's a yami." "I could have him come over and examine ya too," I said seriously. He started to say something when I held up my hand. "Not de way you're thinkin'," I said. "Since he is a yami, he could figure it out bettah dan we can." He considered this and nodded. "Good plan, puppy," he said. "Could you take your hands off my ears now?" Liz asked suly aly annoyed. "Whoops!" he chuckled. "Sorry, princess."

I headed for the phone and snickered a bit. I knew why he didn't ask Yami over. Those two are two rivals with attitude. I'm surprised he handled it well that I was dating Seto. I grabbed it and dialed the number. A tired voice answered the phone. "Hello?" it said. It was British, so I had awakened Ryou. The boy was going to school to be a doctor and hardly slept. Rare moment,uppouppose. "Ryou, sorry for de wakeup call, but is Bakura dere?" I asked. "Yeah, somewhere in the house," he said. "Hang on a sec." He got up and found Bakura watching TV. "Hey, phone call," he said tossing it to him. Bakura caught the phone. "Don't remember my name being hey," he said frowning. "What's up?" "It's me, Joey," I said. "We have a situation only a yami can handle." "That bad, huh?" he asked rising to his feet as he was grabbing his Nikes from the closet. "Give me an idea of what's going on first." "Well..." I scratched my head a moment. "Seto's pregnant." I never heard a long silence like this. "I'll be over as soon as possible," he said and hung up. Well, that didn't take long. I hope he doesn't break the speed limit on the freeway.

Bakura arrived within an hour. I was half expecting him to be grumbling about a ticket for speeding. "Where is he?" he asked. I led the way pulling Liz and Mokuba back a bit. "Let Bakura do what he's gotta do," I said. Seto looked up at Bakura and the tomb robber nodded. "You ok, man?" he asked. "I've been better," Seto sighed. Bakura nodded. "I need you to hold still," he said. "This won't hurt you or the baby, but I have to figure out how this happened, understand?" Seto nodded and held perfectly still. Bakura summoned the Millennium Ring and it glowed brightly. The kids backed up a bit watching in awe and I shielded my eyes from the glare. Seto's eyes closed to keep from hurting them. The Ring stopped glowing and Bakura frowned deeply. "We'll talk in a minute," he said and he led me in another room.

"Shadow magic," he said seriously. "Only me, Malik, and Yami are capable of such. Seeing Malik and I have no grudge on you..." "That leaves Yami," I said my eyes closing a moment as I released a very heavy sigh. "You dink because dey're rivals..." He shook his head. "Yami's had a crush on you for awhile," he explained. "Yugi never knew this. I did since yamis have ways to tell things. When you started dating Seto, he grew jealous. The last straw to him was when you cancelled Guys Day Out at the last minute. I didn't expect this though." He shook his head. "However, you have to listen to me," he continued. "He'll be like any pregnant woman, mood swings and everything. However, when it comes time for the baby to arrive, call me and don't hesitate. Otherwise, if that child doesn't come out, both it and Seto will die. I hate to be so blunt about it, but I have to because you're the father." "I understand," I said nodding firmly. My anger now to Yami was pretty bad and I knew I had to help Seto no matter what. "By de way, how will ya git de baby out?" I asked out of curiosity. He laughed a bit. "He'll be sedated and have a C-Section, as Ryou puts it," he said. "It's surgery, but works well. And with my powers, he'll heal better. That's why I need to be there." "So Ryou will deliver de baby," I said and he nodded. "I have to tell Seto and then Ryou," he said. "It stays here for now. No one else needs to know." I gave another firm nod.

Bakura left the room and you could hear one angry Seto Kaiba. But the yelling stopped and I looked in the room to find him listening to Bakura's every word with a hand print on his face. I take it a slap in the face was needed. Happens sometimes. I sat in the room and he looked at me like come to the bed. I did and stroked his hair as he rested his head in my lap. Bakura looked at him. "Yodersderstand, Kaiba?" he asked. Seto nodded slowly. "You're in good hands with Joey," he said. "Don't let him out of your life." I blushed a bit and Bakura smiled. "I'll see you guys later," he said. "I have to talk to Ryou now. Don't hesitate to call again." "Thanks, Kura," Seto whispered. Bakura smiled. "No problem," he said and left the house. Liz and Mokuba appeared in the doorway again and walked to the bed. "Looks like our family's gonna be bigger," I said. Seto nodded. "I'm goto bto be a medical marvel," he said chuckling suddenly. I had to laugh then. "Yeah, too true," I said.

Dinner was rather...eh, let's say the conversational topic of the day was babies. If Liz didn't get answers about that from me and Seto, she headed straight for the other one: Mokuba. Please, someone duct tape this boy's mouth for once in his life! He's going to make her start questions instead of talking normally! By the time she's in kindergarten, she'll know more absex sex than any of the other students! I finally had to stop it where it began. "Mokuba, dis topic isn't suitable for kids her age," I said sternly. "It ends now." Liz pouted then. "Daddy, you mean," she said in an almost whiny voice. "Daddy is tryin' ta let ya know when de right time to learn dat is," I interjected. "You're way too young to hear dat now." "I seem to be too young for everything," she sighed studying her half eaten dinner. "May I be excused?" "You don't wanna eat no more of your dinner?" I asked in confusion. She shook her head. "Eat, Liz," a voice said behind me and Seto appeared. Although pale, he was trying to walk around a little. "Your father has a point. You'll learn more about that subject when you get older. I'd suggest enjoy being too young while you can. When you get mine and Joey's age, things change." I couldn't have said it better myself. Bravo, Seo Kaiba! You deserve an encore. Liz raised an eyebrow. Uh, hold all applause, ladies and gentlemen. I know that look and I have seen it all day!

"What kinda things, Papa?" she asked out of mere childish innocence. "Well, for one, you have to be more responsible," he said sitting down beside me. "You see the things we do?" She nodded. Mokuba took interest and nodded as well. "Well, it's very hard," Seto continued. "We might make it look easy, but in real life, it isn't. Just trust me on this, kids. Enjoy being young while you can." They nodded and Liz went back to dinner. I stood up a moment and kissed Seto's and Liz's foreheads. "You want anything to eat or just somethin' to drink?" I asked. Seto raised a brow. "It's going to come up in the morning, but I have to eat something," he said. "Just...keep it light. Stilve sve some stomach pains at times." I nodded and fixed some toast and tea for him. (A/N: Attention all pregnant women! If you're still in morning sickness, do try this. Tea and dry toast can help, but don't and I repeat don't starve yourself despite the sickness. It's very unheathly for you and the baby.) He ate what he could and sighed. "I never thought I'd be a mom," he said chuckling suddenly. Liz gig and and walked to him climbing in his lap. "You be a good mommy," she said seriously. A look came to her face I never saw before. It was like she actually wondered where her mother was. I had to tear my glance away. She was too young to know she was adopted. It would hurt her more now than if she got older. But the question came out anyway. "Daddy, what happened to my mommy?" she asked.

I froze a moment. "Mommy abandoned ya," I said. "She gave ya to me and left." Well, I spoke truthfully in ways, so that did help a bit. "I rather be with you and Papa and Mokie and the new baby than her," she said rather firmly. "You guys are better than her." Seto lifted an eyebrow then. "Well, I wouldn't say that," he said causing me to shoot him a slight amused smirk. "Papa an' I didn't git along for awhile, baby," I said almost admitting defeat then. "Why?" she asked. "We were rivals in ways," Seto said. "Especially in Duel Monsters, which I can still kiour our ass in, Wheeler!" "Hardy har har," I said sarcastically. "I bet I can cream yours!" We exchanged a look and then just laughed. Liz and Mokuba just shook their heads. "Even in love, they're full of it," he said. "Ain't that the truth!" she said and the two walked off outside to check out the beach. "Kids," Seto said shaking his head groaning. "You said it," I said. "If dose two ain't enough, now we got another on de way." "I hope to high Ra this one doesn't pick up things from those t he he said seriously. "Hey, if all else fails, let Malik handle it," I teased and he burst out laughing. Malik could be quite disgusting at times and Liz learned enough from him not to do certain things. Seto recovered and sighed. "Liz will be four in two days," he said. "Yeah," I said. "My baby's growin' too fast." He chuckled. "Can't shelter her forever when she gets older," he said. "I know," I said.

The kids came in as the sun set in the ocean...well, it appeared that way. They were both a bit wet and holding out bags of seashells they collected near the water and on the beach. "You guys look like swamp monsters," Seto teased noticing seaweed around their ankles. Mokuba laughed and started roaring and running after Liz. She shrieked and started running from Mokuba, the Creature From The Kaiba Lagoon. Liz ran between my legs and I jumped back a bit as the two chased each other through the house. Seto quickly moved his feet as the two ran past him and then they jumped over the couch and Mokuba tackled her to the floor tickling her. "I'm gonna get you!" he shouted laughing. She giggled loudly and I watched this a moment. "All right, kids," I said. "Go clean up and git to bed." "Aw man!" they whined. "Now before I count to three," I warned. "One...two..." They ran off fast then. I chuckled knowing I had it going on.

I thought this new job would be a breeze taking care of Seto and the kids, which I did enjoy.

Boy, was I ever wrong!
