Chapter 6

Disclaimer: Don't own it.

Warnings: Yet another gory murder, yay!

Author: Koneko Shido

A/N: Ah, I can't sleep, so I'm gonna do a murder to help me. Strange, ain't it? Anyway, this one was inspired by walking downstairs to get a drink in total darkness at my dad's house.
Added Note: I know the murders are usually from Bakura's POV, but I'm changing it this time for added freakiness. This chapter is particularly short and gory, so not for the faint hearted, right?

Dark Light 6

It was that silent, still time in the middle of the night when nobody should be awake, but on a quiet street in the suburbs of Domino two people were far from sleeping.
The girl, whose name was Megumi, sat up in bed and shivered. Her mouth was dry and she needed a drink, but she knew that switching on the hall lights wowakewake her parents so she crept out of the warm safety of her bed in the velvet darkness. It hung heavy and foreboding around her as she felt her way blindly along the wall, groping for the banister and keeping it firmly under her hands as she began her journey down the stairs.
The fine hairs on the back of her neck prickled and in the back of her mind some primal instinct told her that something was wrong, some tiny feeling that there was something out of place. The air seemed thicker and the darkness blacker than usual, smothering her until cold sweat trickled down her back and her heartbeat raced with irrational panic.
Clinging tightly to the banister as though it could save her from whatever crept in the night, she reached the bottom of the stairs and shivered, releasing the banister and padding quietly towards the gaping black mouth of the kitchen door.
Behind her in the darkness something stirred slightly, two reflecting eyes following her. The unseen figure crept forward, making no more sound than a cat as it approached the girl, its lips curved into a gruesome smirk.
Megumi stepped into the utter blackness of the kitchen with relief, finally reaching out to shed some light on her world. Instead of the light switch, though, her questing fingers came into contact with the soft warmth of skin. Her heart leapt in fear and she snatched her hand back, her eyes wide as she drew in a breath to scream but was cut off by a hand clamping over her mouth.
"Silence is golden." A hiss of a voice whispered next to her and she trembled, too terrified for her body to react.
The last sound she ever made was a startled gasp as Bakura closed his free hand around the closest sharp object, which happened to be a fork lying on the counter nearby, and bought it up in a vicious stabbing motion.
The force of the attack was enough to send the long-handled fork through the vulnerable underside of her chin, smashing through her tongue and the roof of her mouth and into her brain.
Bakura let her fall to the floor, her body twitching and blood bubbling out from her mouth. He smirked, congratulating himself on one of his more inventive methods of killing someone, and leant against the wall to watch the last few twitching shudders leave the already dead body at his feet. Laughing to himself, he vanished into mist as a light switched on upstairs and someone called the dead girl's name tiredly.
Were they in for a shock.

There, short and not particularly sweet. Please review!
