Love Cures All Ills

Yugi slept curled up against Yami’s chest the next day. Vampire hunters, like their prey, were nocturnal most of the time. Yami stroked his aibou’s hair in a soothing fashion, finding his worry for the little hunter was preventing him from sleeping that day. ‘Truly my heart beating has changed me. And it’s my love for Yugi that makes it beat,’ Yami thought, holding the fragile human close.
Meanwhile Jou, who had slept for his allotted 7 hours, was up and about, working his day job to support the hunting party. Ryou, Malik, Honda, and Ootachi also had day jobs, but Jou’s was the most important. The blond-haired party leader worked for a major big business company as the CEO’s personal assistant. Seto Kaiba was allergic to the sun, so it was up to Jou to make public appearances for the brown-haired, blue-eyed CEO of Kaiba Corp.
Little did Jou know, Seto wasn’t fully human. He was only half-human, his other half accounting for his sun allergy. Seto knew Jou was notorious for being able to sniff out auras like no other, and therefore struggled to keep his human aura present whenever Jou was nearby. At night, he would always leave the city on his vampire wings to hunt far away and satiate his bloodlust. However, lately his bloodlust seemed to have diminished, other desires filling his psyche.
As Jou made to leave and prepare for that night’s hunt, Seto’s self-control broke. Jou gasped as the half-vampire allowed his vampire aura to mingle with his human aura, realizing he’d been duped. Seto pinned his personal assistant to the ground, breathing heavily as he tried to fight his body’s urges.
“Wha- what’d you want?” Jou asked, caught completely off-guard. Seto leaned closer, his fanged mouth inches from the object of his desires.
“I want you,” Seto replied, moving closer, eyes lidded pleasantly. The half-vampire placed a bruising kiss on his hunter employee, surprising the blond teen. Jou had been attracted to his employer, but he had never dreamed that the feeling was mutual. And he had just learned the truth about Seto for the sole reason that Seto couldn’t contain his desire to be with Jou any longer!
Jou reached up and pulled Seto closer, allowing his vampire lover to deepen the kiss, moaning in pleasure at the tangy taste of Seto’s tongue. Seto broke the kiss when Jou needed air, and looked at his fully human lover with now-crimson eyes.
“Seto, do ya mind if we contina dis lata? I need to led mah group, they won’ be safe without me,” Jou reminded his new boyfriend. Seto nodded.
“Only if I can stay at your base like Yugi’s vampire lover,” Seto said. “He’s my half-cousin, so there won’t be any territorial issues.”
Jou was surprised to hear this, but nodded in agreement. Seto climbed off the young hunter, allowing the blond to pull himself upright. They left the office, Seto having shifted back to his human appearance and masked his vampire aura.

Meanwhile Malik and Ryou were on their way back to the base, having been made to stay late because Yugi wasn’t there to wait on tables. The two healers were frightened by every shadow as they weren’t real hunters, just the support team. The sandy-haired Malik tried to hid behind the white-haired Ryou as his friend did the same with him. The result was that both walked slowly, clutching each other close in a fearful embrace. Two vampires that looked remarkably like them watched with interest.
“Marik, I don’t want you to harm that cute little look-alike of yours down there,” the white-haired vampire said, his hair wilder than Ryou’s. Malik, his wild-haired, sandy-haired hunting partner, nodded.
“So long as you don’t hurt that adorable human look-alike of you, Bakura,” Marik agreed. Bakura nodded and both swooped down to catch their mates.
