Tavi: Thank you for being my beta reader~ <3333
Vampirezdarkgurl: *nods* I have a beta reader. I was just being to lazy to send this fic to her.
Tellnoone_noonetells: ^-^ What's not to like about your name!? hehe. I really think it's awesome. And very original~ I will tell you, it's hard to come up with an original name. And even harder to make the name your own. (speaking from experience) I've been Yami Kitsune since I was about 15. I've tried changing it a time or two. Because I like Celtic Kitsune better. But I worked to hard to make Yami Kitsune my name ^-^ And as you said~ Onto better things~ (well. Maybe not better. Because I love talking about names~) But anyway! Onto the review! ^-^
Yeah. I know what you mean about scary <_< >_> As you've read my other stories. Even I notice how much I've improved. I will, someday, rewrite Vampire story. Just because it was the first fic I ever really finished. I think I did that one when I was about sixteen or seventeen. Either way it was quite a few years ago~ But I still love the idea, and it deserves to be rewritten~
*purrs at ego being stroked* squeee~ ^-^ Just for that EXTRA LONG CHAPTER!!!

Chapter 4
Once Malik was able to stand again after being pounced by his two best friends the three boys were led into the castle. Malik was glad that his two friends were alright. And was more willing to go with the Dark Magician. Celtic Guardian was standing just inside the doors his arms crossed and his eyes narrowed, obviously not happy that the person he had been told to bring back to the castle had so easily gotten away.
"The kings are waiting." Celtic said in his rough voice. Turning he led them to the great hall where Malik, Ryou and Yugi were to wait for the kings.
"So, uh, who are these kings?" Ryou asked almost timidly. He frowned slightly when none of the guards answered. He glanced at Malik who shrugged.
"I guess we'll have to wait until we meet them to find out." He said and squeezed Ryou's hand to let him know everything would be alright. He then looked over at Yugi who was looking at everything he could. Yugi had always been fascinated with history. And even Malik could tell that this castle was just full of stuff that Yugi would love to look at closer.
Celtic Guardian opened the doors to the great hall and led them inside. "You will wait here." He ordered.
"And don't touch anything." And before any of them could say a word Celtic had vanished. Ryou stared with wide eyes at where the elf had stood moments ago.
"Why am I getting a bad feeling from this?" Yugi asked his attention finally back on their current predicament. Malik looked around the room frowning. Being around Yugi his whole life he had seen plenty of pictures of what a great hall was supposed to look like. But this just seemed more like a large empty room, at the far end was something almost like a stage with five steps leading up onto the platform. And the only furniture in the room were the three chairs sitting at the top of the stairs. Malik walked forward still looking around.
Ryou looked around as well before turning to the door intending to see if there was anyone outside so he could ask how long they would have to wait. Yugi turned and watched Ryou pull on the door to open it. It rattled a little but didn't budge. Making it quite obvious that they had been locked in. Ryou looked over at Yugi and then both of them looked at Malik.
Malik had turned to look at both of his friends when he'd heard the door rattle. "...what?" He asked, trying to keep his voice calm. Malik was never scared of anything. And even if he was he was normally able to brush it off and ignore it. The only thing that Malik was really truly afraid of was being locked in somewhere, with no way out. This due to the fact that when he was younger he had accidentally locked himself in a closet while playing hide and seek with Yugi and Ryou. He had been stuck in there for nearly six hours when his mother had gotten home and found out that the babysitter had not been doing a good job keeping an eye on the boys.
"...the...the door won't open." Ryou said softly hoping Malik wouldn't hear him. He watched as the blood drained from Malik's face. The blond Egyptian quickly turned away and looked around the room taking deep breaths to keep himself calm. Panicking in front of Yugi and Ryou would NOT help this situation. He told himself.
That's when a door opened on the far side of the room. Almost hidden by a suit of armor that stood next to it. Ryou and Yugi frowned moving over to Malik's side as they watched three people saunter in to the room. Their eyes widened lightly and Yugi's mouth hung open as the three other boys took their seats without even acknowledging the presence of their 'guests'.
Yami sat down in the middle chair and waited for Bakura and Marik to sit before looking up at the three boys standing close together over by the double doors. Yami was glad he had seen the boys being brought in. It had prepared him enough for the shock of seeing them up close. The resemblance was amazing. His eyes settled on the smallest of the little group. His eyes narrowed as he studied Yugi. He caught a glimpse of the other two and his frown deepened. They looked harmless enough. And the innocence seemed to radiate off them.
"Come here." Yami said keeping his eyes fixed on Yugi who was now clinging to the Marik look-a-like. Yami couldn't help but wonder if that's what Marik would look like if he let his hair lay flat.
Marik leaned forward in his chair grinning as the three boys stepped closer. All three of them still seemed a bit stunned at seeing people who could pass as their twins with very little effort. The boys stopped once they were close to the bottom of the steps.
"Now," Yami began. "Who are you?" Yami asked watching them closely.
"I'm Malik." Malik said obviously taking charge because the other two looked a little frightened. "This is Ryou, and Yugi." He said and turned his attention back to Yami. "And who are you?" He asked. Yami narrowed his eyes.
"I will be asking the questions here." He snapped. Malik glared right back at Yami.
"It's only a fair question. You know who we are. All we know is that you're three kings."
"And that is all you need to know. Now, how did you get here? And what is it you came here for?" He asked making the three boys look confused.
"Umm...we didn't come here for anything." Yugi said timidly, looking up at Yami. Yugi let out a small frightened yelp when Yami turned his glare towards him. Yami watched the smaller boy duck slightly behind Malik.
"Then why is it you are on this Island?" Marik asked. "Only those in search of something would come to this island."
"Yugi already told you." Malik said. "We're not looking for anything. We were washed overboard during a storm last night. And washed ashore."
"Lies!" Yami said waving his hand in a dismissive sort of way. "There was no storm within miles of this island. And any storm far enough out that we could not see is too far for three boys like you to survive the rough sea." Yami said glaring at them. Malik glared right back.
"Just because you didn't see anything doesn't mean we're lying." Malik snapped. Yami leaned back in his chair and glanced over at Marik who grinned and stood up and looked over at Bakura who also smiled slightly standing up as well. Yami watched as the two of them walked down the stairs and were now standing in front of the three boys. Bakura stood watching as Marik circled them stopping right behind Malik. Reaching how he grabbed a fist full of Malik's hair and pulled hard. Malik screamed in surprise and pain.
"Malik!" Yugi and Ryou shouted but were easily grabbed by Bakura and held there. Bakura looked back at Yami and jerked his head.
"Come hold the runt." He said as he lifted Yugi off his feet by his arm. Yugi glared at Bakura and started kicking him in the side.
"Let me go!" He snapped. Yami stepped down and grabbed Yugi from Bakura holding him tightly as he leaned down and hissed in the struggling boy's ear.
"One more move from you and I will snap your neck." Yugi instantly stopped struggling and turned his attention over to Ryou. Bakura was holding both Ryou's arms tightly and Yugi could see bruises already forming around Bakura's fingers. Ryou was staring straight ahead at Marik and Malik his eyes slightly wide.
Malik had been shoved down onto a low back chair that had appeared out of nowhere. Along with chains that strapped Malik down. Marik continued circling Malik pulling the knife out of the golden Rod he was carrying.
"Now, we will ask you again. Why did you come here?" Marik asked. Malik watched the knife carefully as he answered.
"We didn't come here on purpose." He said not looking at Marik. "You were already told what happened. And you're just too stubborn, or stupid to believe it." Malik snapped. His eyes widened when, in a flash, the knife was pressed under his chin digging into his skin slightly. Malik could feel a small drop of blood rolling down his chin.
"NO! MALIK!" Yugi shouted, also seeing this. He started struggling again but stopped instantly when he felt Yami's arm around his neck. Yami smiled a little at that, at least this one knew when to listen. He looked over at Bakura who still had Ryou. The silver haired boy looked even paler as he watched his friend.
"You dare insult me?" Marik asked, and to his surprise Malik narrowed his eyes right back at him.
"I dare." He hissed when the cold metal bit further into his skin before it was removed. "Perhaps." Marik said pulling the knife away slowly. "Some time in the tower will loosen your tongue." He said and glanced at Yami who nodded.
"That is a good idea Marik." Yami said watching the tanned king grin. The chair and chains vanished right out from under Malik making the boy drop to the floor with a loud yelp. Before Malik could get to his feet Marik leaned down grabbing his hair and proceeded to drag Malik out of the room. Malik clenched his teeth against the pain in his head as he managed to some how stumble to his feet, lessening the pain, but not by much. Malik heard twin cries from his two friends as he was dragged from the room.
Yugi pulled quickly away from Yami, who's grip on him had loosened after Malik had been dragged from the room. The small teen whirled on Yami who was now glaring at him.
"Tell him to bring Malik back!" Yugi shouted. Yami crossed his arms glaring right back at Yugi.
"And why would I do that?"
"Because you're the king..." Yugi started but was instantly cut off by Bakura.
"In case you havn't noticed midget.." Bakura said glaring at him. "Yami is not the only king here. And has no authority to tell me or Marik what to do." Yugi looked over at Bakura with wide eyes not believing what he was hearing.
"Bakura, why don't you take that one to your tower? And I'll deal with this one." he said and easily lifted Yugi, carrying him out of the room. Ryou watched with helpless eyes as his second friend was taken out of the room. "...what's going to happen to them?" He asked in a scared whisper. Bakura just shrugged shoving Ryou towards the door not in the mood to drag him.
"Don't know, don't care. Now move it." He snapped growling when Ryou didn't listen right away. Ryou yelped and headed out the door. Once the door closed a figure stepped out from the shadows of the room shaking her head. "Be brave young ones." She said softly before vanishing into the darkness again.
-----------
The door to the East tower opened and Malik was dragged in. Marik dumped him in the middle of the floor before kicking the door shut. He turned to glare at Malik who was looking anywhere but him. Malik was taking in his surroundings. It was a circular room, chains hung from the walls and ceiling and there seemed to be dark stains in random spots around the room. There was only one door out, and Marik was standing in front of it. Looking around once more Malik had to fight to keep his breathing under control when he noticed there were no windows.
"Now." Marik began. "Are you going to tell me the truth about why you are on this island?" He asked, a cold smirk on his lips as he watched the boy who was obviously fighting down his panic. Marik of course took this as Malik being worried that he would not be able to lie much longer.
"I told you." Malik said doing his best to keep his voice steady, but he wasn't sure it worked very well. Being trapped in the large room down stairs hadn't been a big deal. But this room was smaller, and only one obvious way out.
"I see being separated from your friends has not loosened your tongue." Marik slowly pulled his knife back out and walked over to Malik who stood his ground. Marik chuckled. "No use pretending to act brave. I can practically smell your fear." Marik said in a low voice as he brought the knife to Malik's neck, slowly sliding it down, letting it lightly touch the skin. Malik watched it as the knife easily cut through the fabric of his shirt like it was butter. The shirt fell open and Marik circled around to Malik's back. And as if sensing what the boy would do Marik grabbed Malik's hair right before the boy could make bolt for the door.
"Do not anger me any further boy." Marik hissed dragging Malik over to the wall he turned him so that he was facing it then chained him to the wall. Marik ripped the shirt from Malik exposing his back smirking at the flawless skin. "Let's see if I can loosen your tongue a bit shall we?" Malik pulled at his restraints feeling more trapped then he ever had in his life. And not liking it one bit. He saw the glint of the knife in the torch light. He couldn't see what Marik was doing no matter how hard he tried to look behind him. The next thing he knew he felt heat against his back. His eyes widened moments before the white hot blade of Malik's knife connected with his back.
Malik threw his head back and screamed. He tried to struggle but the chains held him to the wall making his movement minimal. The blade was dragged along his back and Malik dimly realized that Marik was carving something onto his back. Malik's screams echoed through the castle, and continued for nearly an hour.
Marik stepped back and looked at Malik's bloody back. The boy had screamed himself hoarse, tears stained his cheeks and his legs had given out long ago. Marik frowned as he stood there cleaning his knife and watched the boy. He looked so weak and tired right now. Marik blinked when he felt like something had pinched him inside his chest. Rubbing his hand over his chest for a moment or two he walked over and lowered the boy to the floor. He looked at the boy for a moment or two before turning to leave the room.
Marik let his mind wander as he walked back down the hall. He remembered all too well when he had been in the state that Malik was now in. Worse in fact. Marik's family had always carried an ancient scripture. Only those of the royal family could read it. Marik didn't really care what it was. He did however keep it in mind as an effective way to torture someone. Marik never just liked slashing someone, too 'messy' looking when the scars healed. But as he thought about this he felt that strange feeling in his chest again. And found himself thinking that maybe he'd gone too far doing that to the boy.
Marik shook his head instantly of these thoughts. //Foolishness.// He growled to himself and stormed down the hall.
-----------
Yami carried Yugi to the north tower and dumped him in the small room. This tower was similar to the one in the east. However there were no chains on the ceiling and walls. And there was a very tiny window. If you could call it that, it was more like a slit in the wall just enough to let the sun in. But still not enough to warm up the tower.
Yugi shivered when he hit the cold floor and looked up at Yami.
"You have two choices little one." He said ignoring the glare Yugi was giving him. "You can tell me the truth and I might be generous enough to let you stay somewhere else in the castle. Or you can stay here." He said and waited for Yugi to answer.
"Why don't you believe us?" Yugi asked slowly standing up. "Why would we lie about being washed overboard?"
"Because everyone comes to this island with a purpose." Yami said still watching Yugi closely. "You are not the first to trespass on our island." Yami motioned to something in the corner that Yugi hadn't noticed before. It was a skeleton curled up in the corner as if the person had been trying to stay warm. Yugi backed away quickly, eyes wide.
"And I doubt you will be the last." Yami continued as if not noticing Yugi's reaction. He turned and left the tower closing and locking the door. Yugi went over and pulled at the door to see if it would move at all. He then moved over to the far side of the room sitting down and pulling his knees up to his chest watching the skeleton in the other corner. Tears rolled down Yugi's cheeks and he hid his face.
"I want to go home..." Yugi whimpered.
Just outside the door Yami frowned as he heard Yugi start crying. And mumbling something about going home. Yami rubbed his chest as he listened to the boy crying. No one that Yami had ever put in the tower before had cried. At least not like the young boy was now. Yami vaguely remembered himself crying like that the night his father died. Shaking his head Yami pushed away from the door and walked down the hallway as quickly as he could. Anything to get away from that crying boy.
---------
Ryou was shoved into the west tower. Like the east tower, this room had no windows. But there was a rather large hole in the roof. Ryou turned to look at Bakura.
"What's going to happen to my friends?" He asked. Bakura blinked, normally people in this situation were more worried about themselves.
"I don't know." Bakura said with a shrug.
"Please..." Ryou said softly. "Can...can you talk to the other two?" He asked as he stared at the floor fidgeting. "Please don't hurt my friends...I'll take their place." Ryou said softly. Bakura stared at him silently but was more then a little shocked at these words.
"Marik is the prince of torture." Bakura said the emotionless look back on his face. "He enjoys ripping people apart. Yami doesn't go for that kind of stuff. But he has a gift for scaring people. By the time he's done with them they will believe that their worse nightmares have come true." Bakura said. "Knowing that, do you still want to take their place?"
"...what about you?" Ryou asked. "What do you do to...prisoners?" He asked looking up at him. Bakura frowned staring at Ryou.
"I don't do anything." He said truthfully. He didn't, he normally just locked people in here and forgot about them. Also meaning he forgot to feed them, and give them water. Unless of course Yami or Marik reminded him. Ryou frowned a little before nodding.
"Yes."
"Huh?" Bakura blinked.
"Yes, I would still take their place...and still want to. Please...if you talk to the other two..." Bakura rolled his eyes at this.
"Worry about yourself." He said and turned leaving the room.
"Please!" Ryou continued, hurrying over to the door as it was closed. He banged on it. "Please! I don't want them hurt!" Bakura ignored the shouts as he walked down the hallway simply amazed that someone would willingly want to be put in the hands of Marik and Yami to keep someone else safe. There was something different about this boy. There was something different about all three of the boys that had practically fallen into their laps. And Bakura was sure that Marik and Yami could feel this difference as well.
