Enlightening

I’m home from Sydney, had a blast meeting the three voice actors. Vic was a lot of fun, and I entered the Kamehameha contest, (shouting that word at the top of your lungs like they do in Dragonball Z) and became of the five finalists. Didn’t win in the end, but had a blast and won a DVD . Darren was wonderful, my son got bored of standing in line while I got Crispin Freeman’s autograph, and Darren was all on his own, so I sent my son to talk to him for a bit. He wound up talking for half an hour, I have no idea of what! Never did get to thank him. My son played Goten in the cosplay and was most upset that he didn’t win!
Okay back to business, I hope you like this bit…

You’re Not Me continued

‘So the phone calls are being routed all over the place so that Kaiba cannot get a lead on them. Whoever it is must know a great deal about him to know his private number and to be able to throw him off the track,’ thought Bakura after listening to a conversation between Kaiba and his main security guy. But that wasn’t all, he heard.

“Sir, what about this venue thing, I have several outstanding bills on it, you never did tell me what it was all about.”

“Oh that, I had something planned for my… anniversary. Pay them all off and that will be the end of it.”

“All right sir.”

‘Anniversary?’ thought Bakura, he smiled, he wanted to know more about that, if only to satisfy his own curiosity.

Later than evening, he trundled the trolley into the security office and found Fuguta’s desk, despite what he had said to Ryou earlier, he had picked up a few computer tricks, and learning Fuguta’s password was one of them. He was able to get in and find the receipts for the venue that he and Kaiba had talked about earlier. Sahara Receptions. Well, it was a place to investigate, even if it didn’t help Yami.

----------------------------------------------------------

The place was a reception center themed like an oasis, with palm trees and sand and small pools of water. The place had just hosted a large birthday party and Bakura was once again taking up his cleaner role. Yami was going to owe him big for this one, and he was going to make demands on the former Pharaoh for sure, when this was all over.

The place was empty apart from the cleaning gang, Bakura made sure he got to do the office area. Unfortunately for him he had to actually work as one of the offices was still occupied, and it appeared to be the one he wanted to have a look in. The man working in it seemed to have finished up and Bakura watched him leave, trying to look as inconspicuous as possible. Which was not easy, as the guy had a hair cut and color just like Kaiba’s and wore a long white coat like the CEO did. If it weren’t for the dark beady eyes and the more rounded face, he might have thought it was Kaiba, even the briefcase he carried was a silver metallic one, though not as big, nor was the guy as tall as Kaiba.

Inside the office, Bakura sat down at the man’s desk and had a look around. The diary was open and he decided to look up the date he had found on the receipts in Fuguta’s office. When he opened the diary up, he was in for a surprised. In large letters on the page was Kaiba wedding party! Wedding? Who the hell was Kaiba planning to marry? Then he also noticed the doodles on the page, did they seemed to be shaped like knives dripping blood? The only other doodles seemed to be dollar signs.

Bakura looked at the name on the desk; the guy was named Brendan Keogh, Events Administrator. Looking in his desk he found nothing else. But he made a quick note of the guy’s address; he wanted to follow this up. There was something weird here. And one other thing stood out, the guy had Kaiba’s private number on the diary.

-----------------------------------------------------

Kaiba was just about to get into his limo when Isono came running out of the mansion, “Sir, there’s a call from Master Mokuba.”

“Fuguta, take the car and pick up that item and bring it back here, then you can take me to the office,” said Kaiba as he backed out and went back into the house.

Fuguta nodded and drove off.

Kaiba took the call from his brother, and was just about to hang up about fifteen minutes later when he heard a crash of glass and crockery. He said a quick goodbye to his brother and hurried to find out what had happened. He found Isono kneeling on the floor, the tray he had been carrying spilled and broken all over the floor, and the phone next to him also on the floor.

“Isono?”

He looked up at his boss shakily and Seto could see that he was as white as a ghost. “The car sir… there’s been an accident… Fuguta—“he choked off a cry, “The turn.”

About half a mile from the Kaiba residence there was a steep hill with a sharp turn, a cliff, with nothing but rocks about fifteen feet below…

Kaiba called for other staff to take care of Isono while he rushed out of the place, grabbed his sports car and hurried to see what had happened to his security man. He already knew that Isono and Fuguta were lovers and the most loyal of all his staff.

When he got to the turn he saw his limo mangled beyond recognition at the bottom of the cliff, but a helicopter was winching up a stretcher with a paramedic. Once they were inside, the chopper hurried off. Seto moved immediately over to the policemen, letting them know who he was and that it was his car, and wanting to know how his driver was. He sighed to learn that Fuguta was at least still alive, but in critical condition. He hurried back to the mansion to pick up Isono before they headed over to the hospital.

------------------------------------------------------

Bakura had watched Keogh leave for work, then made his way to the man’s apartment and easily broke in. The place as a mess, newspapers piled high in one corner, magazines in another, on the coffee table there were notebooks, piled on top of each other, pages had been torn out screwed up, there was a white coat draped over the back of the couch, like a doctors coat, it even had an ID on it for a Doctor Fujimiya. He went passed that and looked into the messy bedroom, clothes strewn everywhere. Which was strange as he had a huge wardrobe…

Bakura found that strange so he went over to it and opened it. For what had to be the first time in his life, Bakura’s jaw dropped to the floor.

“And they used to call me a psycho,” he muttered as his eyes roamed over all the pictures of Seto Kaiba that lined the walls, the roof and the floor of the wardrobe, even on the backs of the door, and from several strips hanging from the rods. He had heard of shrines like these before, and they did not bode well for the one enshrined. On the ‘altar’ was a large picture of Kaiba and beside it was a small picture of both Mokuba on the left and Yugi on the right. Even Bakura was disturbed by the small blood covered knives stabbed right through the pictures of Yugi and Mokuba. He closed the wardrobe and went back to the doctor’s coat. As he did so he spied the notebook, it had Kaiba’s name on it, with those knife doodles. Was that a car wreck? A plan of rooms, one saying IC another Incinerator… Intensive Care?

That was enough for him, he got out of there as quickly as he could, not sure what he was going to do with the information that he had.

On the way back to the Game shop in the car he had rented, Bakura put on the radio. “And news just in, there are reports that the limousine of Kaiba Corp CEO Seto Kaiba was involved in a serious accident earlier this morning, reports say one man was listed as in a critical condition and was taken to Domino Hospital.”

“Shit,” said Bakura and he changed direction, headed for the hospital.

----------------------------------------------

Kaiba stood leaning against the wall outside the Intensive Care unit. Fuguta had been taken there after surgery and they were waiting to see what the doctor had to tell them. On the seat beside near him sat Isono, the normally immaculate man looking a bit rough as he worried over the man he loved. For once he did not have his dark glasses on, or they would have hidden his red rimmed eyes. All they had been told was that Fuguta was very lucky to be alive at all after the nose dive the car had taken at what appeared high speed.

A policeman was allowed in to see him, “Sir, preliminary reports say it appears the brakes were tampered with. Were you supposed to be in the car with your driver?”

“Yes, but I sent him ahead to pick something up when I got a call from my brother who is overseas.”

“So you could have been the target?”

“Oh course I was the target…”

“Have you been receiving threats lately?”

Kaiba glared at him.

“Yes, he has,” came another voice.

Kaiba turned to see Bakura leaning against the door. “How did you get in here?”

“Oh the same way I get into lots of places “

“Is this man a danger to you sir,” asked the policeman.

“No, I’m not. In fact I think I’ve found your stalker Kaiba.”

“Stalker?” the policeman demanded.

Kaiba moved over to Bakura and grabbed him by the collar, “All right you bastard, what have you got to do with this?”

Bakura sneered at him, “Nothing. Yami asked me to help look into why you dumped little Yugi, and it seems I found the one who caused that problem.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Kaiba pulled harder at him.

“There’s this guy getting around who wants to be you I think. He has this shrine to you in his bedroom and has a real dislike for anything you love. And he knows about you and Yugi, he also has your private number.”

“Shrine? My private number? How?”

“Something about wedding plans.” Bakura fell on his backside when Kaiba suddenly let go of him.

By then Isono had grabbed a hold of his boss and was trying to get him to turn around. The doctor had come out. “I’ll deal with you in a moment.”

“Should I have him thrown out sir?” asked the policeman.

“No, he has some important information. I want to speak to the doctor if you will excuse me.” He and Isono moved over to the doctor and they spoke quietly.

Bakura watched as Isono sagged against his boss and was helped into a seat. He heard Kaiba say that Isono was the injured man’s partner and was to be allowed all access to him. Then Kaiba walked over to where Bakura and the policeman waited for him.

“Your driver?” asked Bakura.

“Yes, he’s out of danger, but in a coma. We have to worry about brain damage and spinal injuries when the swelling goes down. I could have been in the car with him.”

“But you weren’t. This psycho has a shrine to you, what I didn’t tell you was that he had pictures of Mokuba and Yugi there too, but they were stabbed through with knives covered in what looked like blood. When I saw him yesterday he looked like he was trying to make himself a clone of you, your style of coat, hair, briefcase. I think he wants to be you. I told Yami where I was, he’s coming here with Yugi. I think this guy hates anything you love, he threatened Yugi and Mokuba. Mokuba’s safe, but Yugi isn’t, not till this guy is caught.”

“Since when did you start to care about anything?”

“When Ryou changed me and I realized that I loved him, that’s when. You should understand that, you fell for Yugi didn’t you? You are a fool Kaiba; you pushed him into the arms of the other one he loved. Why? This psycho is still after him. Those wedding plans, who were they for Kaiba?”

Just then there was a disturbance at the door which had police standing at it, Bakura saw who was there and made the policeman let them in.

“Who were the wedding plans for Kaiba?” he repeated.

Seto raised his eyes and looked at the two that had entered his eyes for one only.

“Just as I thought,” said Bakura.

“What’s happened Bakura, who has been hurt?” asked Yami.

“Kaiba’s security guy.”

“Fuguta! Is he okay?” Yugi moved pasted them making his way to where Isono sat putting his arms around the older man’s shoulders. Isono grabbed hold of him and began to cry, pulling tears from Yugi’s eyes too as he comforted the man.

“Kaiba?” asked Yami as he watched.

“He’s alive, but it’s not good.”

“What’s this about wedding plans?”

“Yes, Kaiba, you want to tell us, because this psycho worked for the place it was supposed to be happening.”

“Who?”

“Brendan Keogh.”

“Don’t recognize the name.”

“He works for Sahara Receptions, that’s how he got your private number, you didn’t want anyone to know your plans did you?”

“I want the bastard arrested and off the streets,” Kaiba demanded of the policeman.

“Yes sir, Mr. Bakura, can I get the information from you?”

Bakura nodded and moved off with the policeman to give him the information he had.

Kaiba turned to look at Yugi with Isono, the pair were still holding onto one another. Kaiba knew his two men were happy for him when he hooked up with Yugi. And they had loved Yugi as a part of their family in return. He hung his head, why the hell had he let go of Yugi? And how the hell was he going to get him back from Yami now?
