Chapter Five
by Ravenx
“Hot, hot, hot.” Yugi quickly sets down a hot brunt pan on a metal rack by the stove. “Ryou, your pot holders are thin.” Yugi pouts as he removes the cotton, dark red glove with green flowers from his hand.
“I’ve been meaning to buy new ones.” Ryou’s voice is low, his eyes focused on the large black pot of spaghetti sauce.
“Ryou, are you okay?” Joey asks from his position by the island, a small wooden cutting board in front of him as he chops up a long green cucumber.
“I’m fine.”
“You don’t look like it.” Malik mumble, his head down looking at the cutting board in front of him, his sharp knife slicing through a bright red tomato.
“The dining room table is cleaned off. Bakura and Marik took your father’s things up to his room.” Yami says to Ryou as he enters the open kitchen door.
The tall tri-colored haired Yami now wears another pair of tight, black leather pants, his long sleeved, tight black shirt hugs his slim frame as his bare feet rest on the cool wooden floor. Around his neck lays the upturned gold pyramid of the Millennium Puzzle.
“Thank you, Yami.”
“Uh, Yami, why don’t you set the table?” Yugi suggests.
“Sure. What I’m I putting on it?”
Ryou moves away from the stove to a cabinet next to Yugi, reaching up he opens the door and pulls out a stack of beautiful white plates with black and dark gray roses painted in the center. Shutting the door he moves over to a pull out drawer never the dishwasher where he removes several pieces of silverware and gently sets them on the plates before moving over to where Yami stands by the door.
“We’ll use these. There should be a white table cloth in one of the drawers of the antique cabinet in the dining room. I’ll get the bowls and glasses out in a minute.”
“Thanks, Ryou.” Yami quietly takes the plates and silverware from the quiet boy and heads out the door.
“What glasses do you want to use? I can help him with the table since dessert is pretty much done until its ready to serve.” Yugi speaks up.
Ryou walks across the kitchen to another cabinet resting high over the black counter top, reaching up he moves a couple crystal wine glasses at a time down to the counter.
“These will be nice. The matching bowls to the plates Yami took out are in the cabinet the plates were.” Ryou returns to the large pot of sauce to stir it.
Yugi opens the door near his head and carefully takes out enough of the white bowls with black and gray roses in the center. He notices a small saucer with the same design in the center, taking down the same amount he places them on the counter next to the bowls. His black jeans hug his rear end tightly while the material around his legs is loose, the dark blue sleeveless shirt he wears wraps tightly around his chest.
“These will be perfect for the dessert.” Yugi smiles before grabbing the bowls and heading into the living room.
“Ryou, are you still mad?” Malik quietly asks as he dumps the diced tomatoes into a large white glass bowl with several different kinds of lettuce cut up inside.
“No. Why do you ask?”
“You haven’t really said much since you got done with Bakura.” Joey answers.
“I’m fine.”
“Then at least smile.” The pale blonde looks over at his friend.
Ryou turns around, smiling widely at his two friends, his hands sliding down his tight white sleeveless shirt that tucks into his equally tight white leather pants that covers his bare feet.
“Gomen. I should be a better host. It’s just that Kura can get on my nerves sometimes.”
“I can understand. Trust me.” Malik chuckles.
The pale blonde reaches across the island to grab a red onion in the center, his light violet, silk, long sleeved, button up shirt pulls slightly almost coming untucked from his loose white jeans. The thick bands of gold on both his wrist catches the light of the kitchen as does his dangling gold earrings and thick gold choker around his neck.
“Joey, shouldn’t you be getting dressed?” He asks the sandy blonde across from him as he starts to peel the onion.
“Yeah, your date will be here soon.” Ryou agrees. “And we’re all dressed.”
“I’m just not sure about this whole blind date thing. Do you guys know who it is?” Joey puts the slices of cucumber into the salad bowl.
“Nope.” Malik says, his light violet eyes looking over at the suddenly quite white haired boy. “Ryou?”
“Uh, you should really start getting dressed, Joey.”
“You know who it is!” Joey exclaims.
“And you will too in a little bit.” Ryou smiles innocently at the sandy blonde as he starts to push him toward the door. “And you had best be wearing everything we’ve set out for you when you come down stairs, jewelry and all.”
“Okay, stop pushing.” Joey chuckles. “I’m glad you’re in a better mood but I can walk by myself.”
“Then go.” Ryou giggles as he watches the other boy go through the living room.
“I’m glad you’re smiling again.” A voice whispers beside Ryou causing the other boy to jump slightly.
“Kura! Don’t sneak up on me.”
“So it’s back to Kura. Does that mean you forgive me?” Bakura sticks out his lower lip, his dark brown eyes widening in an innocent way.
“I’m not sure yet.” Ryou sighs, his light brown eyes looking his yami up and down.
Bakura’s burgundy pants hug is slightly muscled legs, his tucked in white, sleeveless shirt with a design of a black scythe across the front hangs loosely on his chest, one bare foot taps lightly on the white carpet of the living room.
“Couldn’t you find a better shirt?” Ryou pouts.
“I like this shirt.”
“Where’s Marik?”
“Helping the Pharaoh and the runt.”
“Kura, behave.” Ryou sighs.
“Gomen, just don’t get mad at me any more.” Bakura wraps his arms around his smaller hikari.
“I wouldn’t get mad at you if you just thought before you act every once in a while.” Ryou rest his head on the other boy’s chest.
“It was half of Marik’s fault.”
“You shouldn’t have stolen the Dark Magician from Yami. Why can’t you just be nice to him? He always tries to be nice to you.”
“I don’t ask him to.”
“But he knows that it’s the polite thing to do. Just please, tonight be on your best behavior.” Light brown eyes turn up to look into darker brown ones. “Please, for me?”
“Will I be rewarded for it?”
“Maybe.”
“Really?” Bakura leans down to nip at Ryou’s ear.
“But not until after you fix the door to our room.” Ryou pushes his yami away.
“I thought we were past that.”
“No we aren’t. You be nice tonight, you fix the door tomorrow and then we’ll see if you get a reward.”
“Fine. But Marik’s still helping with the door cause it was him that went through it.”
“And it was you that pushed him through it.” Ryou reminds him.
“But I was going for the Pharaoh, Marik just got in the way.”
“It doesn’t matter. Now go help them set the table. I have to put the finishing touches on dinner.” Ryou moves back through the kitchen door.
“Ai shiteru, koi.” Bakura calls.
“I’ll wait to reply to that after I see how you act tonight.” Ryou smirks over his shoulder before returning to the stove.
“Man, you’re being hard on Bakura.” Malik shakes his head as he watches the taller white haired boy disappear into the living room.
“And why aren’t you being hard on Marik?” Ryou turns around, his hands firmly on his hips.
“I am.”
“Then why did it take so long for you two to come down from dressing?” Ryou raises an eyebrow.
“I…I couldn’t get my choker on.” Malik swallows deeply.
“Yeah right.” The white haired boy rolls his eyes before turning back to the stove.
“I just can’t stay mad at Marik for long. He does this thing with his tongue that can make you….”
“Okay, enough. Please don’t say anything else.” Ryou grabs another large pot from under the counter next to the stove before moving over to the sink and filling it up with water.
“What? You don’t want details?” Malik giggles as he rakes the onion into the salad bowl.
“No thank you.” The white haired boy moves back to the stove with the pot of water, turning the burner on high.
“Your loss.” Malik shrugs.

“The table looks great guys.” Ryou smiles as he walks into the dining room holding the large salad bowl.
The long room holds an almost equally long dark wooden table with ten beautifully crafted chairs, intricate swirls carved into the backs. A pure white cloth hangs half-way to the wooden floor, place setting in front of eight chairs, four on each side of the table. Two crystal clear vases set at the heads of the table, white and red roses on long stems sticking up. An old oak cabinet rest against the wall closet to the door, china lays carefully shelves behind glass crafted with small vines around it.
“Thank you.” Yugi leans gently on to Yami.
“Well, everything is pretty much done. I’m just waiting for the cheese to melt on the chicken.” The white haired boy sets the bowl in the middle of the table.
“Now all we have to do is wait for Joey’s date.” Yugi grins.
“I hope whoever it is hurries, I’m starving.” Marik leans against the pale green wall, his black leather pants cling to his legs as does his sleeveless plum shirt, his jewelry that matches his hikari’s gleams in the light shining down the ceiling.
“Is Joey ready yet?” Yami rolls his eyes at the pale blonde before turning his attention back to Ryou.
“I don’t know. He has been upstairs for a while now.”
“You don’t think he jumped out the window, do you?” Bakura shrugs as the weird looks thrown his way.
“Kura, why don’t you just not say anything for the rest of the night.” Ryou suggest before a loud buzzing echoes through the house. “I’ll get the door. Yugi, can you check on the chicken?”
“Sure, Ryou.” Yugi watches the white haired boy disappear back through the door into the living room before moving after him, looking over his shoulder for a moment. “Yami, go with him.”
“Yes, chibi ichi.” Yami nods as he follows the path Ryou took, through the living room and out into the small entranceway near the foot of the stairs.
Ryou smiles over his shoulder at the taller yami before opening the door, his light brown eyes widening as he realizes who rang the doorbell. Seto Kaiba stands on the small porch wearing a tight, long sleeved, deep red turtle neck sweater over loose black slacks with shiny black dress shoes gracing his feet. The brunette’s icy blue eyes stare at the smaller white haired boy in front of him for a moment before sighing loudly.
“Am I to be invited in or just stand out here all night?”
“Huh…oh…gomen, please come in, Kaiba.” Ryou blushes as he moves aside to allow the taller teen entrance to his home.
“Glad you came, Kaiba.” Yami smirks at his Dueling rival.
“It wasn’t all me. Mokuba had his say in it.” Seto shrugs.
“I thought you knew who Yugi picked, Ryou.” Yami tries to keep a straight face as he looks at the surprised white haired hikari.
“I did. I just…never thought he would come.”
“Well, I’m here.”
“Okay, I’m done but I swear if anyone laughs I’m gonna rip their heads off.” A voice travels down the stairs.
Joey stops at he reaches the other three boys at the bottom of the stairs, his honey colored eyes turned down as he pulls on the hem of the tight sleeveless, tan shirt a design of a black dragon wrapping around his waist with the head resting just above his covered navel, the eyes shining with silver glitter. Skin tight dark brown leather pants engulf his legs, a thick band of leather laced with silver chain wraps around his right wrist, a silver necklace with a pendant of a roaring dragon lays against his chest.
“You look amazing, Joey.” Ryou smiles.
“He is right.” Yami reassures.
“I don’t know about this.” Joey head remains downcast, his hands running over the outfit.
“I think it looks good on you.” Seto speaks up, his deep blue eyes looking the sandy blonde up and down.
“Thanks, Kaiba.” Joey says absently before his head snaps up, eyes wide. “Kaiba?”
“That is my name.” The brunette smirks.
“What are you doing here?”
“He is your date, Joey.” Ryou smiles widely.
“Nani?”
“He is the one we picked for you.” Yami chuckles at the disbelieving look on the sandy blonde’s face.
“You’re kidding me. Right?”
“Sorry to say they aren’t.” Seto crosses his arms over his chest.
“Guys, diner is on the table. You had best hurry if you don’t want Marik eating it all.” Yugi steps into the small entranceway, his eyes roaming over to Seto. “Hello, Seto. So glad you could make it.”
“Yugi.” Seto nods in greeting.
“Come, chibi ichi, lets go sit down. I think we should leave these two to talk for a while.” Yami gently pulls his hikari back out into the living room.
“Marik is starving and I’m sure Bakura is too so you might want to make it quick.” Ryou whispers before following the tri-colored haired boys.
“Why are you here, Kaiba?” Joey narrows his eyes at the slightly taller boy.
“Like they said, I was the one they picked for your date.”
“That doesn’t answer my question. Why did you agree?”
“I thought it would be fun.” Seto smirks.
“Kaiba, I’m serious. Did you just come here to make fun of me? Ryou and Yugi worked hard to make a great dinner and dessert don’t ruin this for them.”
“I wasn’t planning on it. I was just intrigued by the offer for dinner. Don’t you believe that?”
“No.” Joey shakes his head, his hands resting on his slim hips.
“I know it’s hard to believe but try to get it through that thick skull of yours besides once I told Mokuba he wouldn’t shut up until I agreed to come.” Seto rolls his eyes.
“You really want to have a date with me?”
“I was told you wanted one with me.”
“What? By who?”
“Yami.”
“I never…I didn’t…How did…” Joey closes his eyes for a moment, a deep sigh escaping his lips. “I don’t care just don’t act like yourself tonight.”
“What’s that suppose to mean?”
“Don’t act like an ass. Okay?” Honey eyes stare at the brunette in front of him.
“I will be pleasant if you agree to the same thing.”
“Deal.”
“Fine, then lets go before those bakas end up eating all the food.” Seto moves toward the living room.
“That isn’t being pleasant, Kaiba.”
“Then I’ll just have to work on that.” As the brunette walks by the sandy blonde he leans down, his breath ghosting over Joey’s ear. “Now come, koinu, don’t keep your master waiting.”
Seto chuckles lightly as he walks away, leaving an opened mouth sandy blonde behind. Joey stares after the other boy for a minute, his mouth opening and closing with no sound exiting before he finally moves after the taller boy through the living room and into the door off to the back of the white room.
Entering the dining room, Joey finds three sets of surprised eyes watching Seto take a seat in the chair nearest the door, the brunette moving his white cloth napkin from his plate to his lap. Yami sits across from Seto with Yugi next to along with the two pale blondes, beside the empty seat next to the brunette Ryou sits with his yami next to him. The white bowls of everyone are filled with a nice salad, a steaming glass dish sits in the center of the table next to a crystal bowl filled with long noodles.
“Come on, Joey. The foods getting cold.” Yugi smiles at his friend as Joey sits down in between Ryou and Seto.
“It looks good, Ryou.” The sandy blonde smiles next to him.
“Thank you, Joey.”
“Wait, wait, wait. Is anyone going to explain?” Malik’s light violet eyes look from Seto to Yami and Ryou.
“What is there to explain?” Yugi asks.
“Why is the Priest here?” Bakura leans back to look behind Ryou and Joey at the brunette.
“He is Joey’s date.” Yami says as he stands up with his plate in hand to lean over toward the dishes in the center of the table.
“Huh?” Marik’s mouth hangs open, his dark violet eyes staring at the tri-colored haired yami filling his plate.
“He is Joey’s date for the night.” Ryou repeats Yugi, as he watches Yami place his plate down in front of him and picks up his hikari’s.
“Why?” Bakura asks.
“Because he is.” Ryou elbows his yami in the rib causing the other white haired boy to gasps as stop looking behind the two boys in the middle of his and the brunette.
“You’ll have to forgive them, Kaiba. They don’t have manners.” Yami eyes the other two yamis while he gives Yugi his plate filled with food.
“I knew that before I came.” Seto smirks.
“Look here, Priest, you can just shu…ouch!” Bakura rubs his ribs, his dark eyes narrowing at his hikari.
“Behave.” Ryou hisses through clenched teeth.
“He so has you whipped.” Marik chuckles to Bakura.
“He isn’t the only one.” Malik pops the back of his yami’s spiky head.
“Ouch.” The taller pale blonde pouts.
“Are they always like this?” Seto asks to no one specific.
“Unfortunately, yes.” Ryou rolls his eyes as he stands to fix his plate.
“You’re just lucky you don’t have to live with them.” Malik also stands up, his plate in hand.
“But you still love me.” Marik smirks as he watches his hikari fix his plate, a frown forms on his lips as Malik ignores him. “Right? Kitsune, you still love me, right?”
“You’re in trouble.” Bakura smirks, standing to fix his own plate.
“Don’t forget our conversation from earlier.” Ryou whispers as he sits back down.
“Joey, are you alright?” Yugi turns his attention to the boy across from him.
“Huh…oh…I’m fine.” Joey shakes his head to clear it.
“Are you sure? You seemed out of it.” Yami lifts a piece of sauce and cheese covered chicken to his lips.
“Yeah, I was just thinking.”
“I didn’t know you could do that.” Seto smirks.
“Watch it, Kaiba.” Joey hisses to the boy beside him as he stands with his plate in hand.
“I actually agree with the Priest.” Bakura mumbles as he gets up to fill his plate. “Ouch.” One hand moves to rub his side. “Okay, okay, Ra, gomen. Just enough with the elbow.”
Ryou glares at his yami before looking over at the chuckling Malik, his foot sliding out to hit the boy in the shin under the table causing the pale blonde to yelp suddenly, all eyes moving to him. He just shrugs before stuffing a mouthful of salad in his mouth, his light violet eyes narrowing across the table at the white haired hikari.
“Maybe this was a bad idea.” Joey sighs as he starts to sit down only to have an empty plate almost shoved in front of him, his honey eyes look over to brunette sitting next to him. “What?”
“I’d like some food.” Seto says smoothly.
“And you can’t get it yourself?”
“You’re already up.”
“So you can’t ask nicely?”
“Joey.” Yugi’s voice is slightly strained.
“Fine.” Joey sighs as he plops some food onto Seto’s plate before dropping it in front of the brunette.
“Arigatou.” Seto smirks, his deep blue eyes watching Joey sit down.
“Whatever.”
“This looks great.” Marik moves to fill his plate.
“I’m surprised you aren’t already done eating. You’ve been saying you’re starving for the last hour.” Yugi giggles.
“I was being polite.”
“Not possible.” Yami mumbles as he quickly pops some noodles covered in sauce into his mouth.
“This chicken parmesan is delicious, Ryou.” Yugi compliments the white haired boy.
“Yes, very good.” Yami agrees with his hikari.
“Thank you.” Ryou smiles.
“What about the salad? Me and Joey worked hard on it.” Malik pouts.
“It’s very good too.” Yugi rolls his eyes.
“It’s all excellent.” Seto speaks up before taking a sip of his light brown iced tea.
“And Yugi has made his famous cake for us.” Yami smiles proudly at the smaller boy next to him.
“It looked great when he was making it and even better after it came out of the oven.” Ryou looks up from his plate to the tri-colored haired hikari.
“Well, Joey should be able to tell you how good it really is. He was the one licking the spoon and bowl after I was done.” Yugi giggles.
“That’s usually Kura’s job after I bake something.” Ryou joins the giggling.
“So, Kaiba how is everything with you?” Yami asks the CEO in front of him.
“As well as it can be.” The brunette wipes his napkin on the lips gently.
“How is Mokuba?” Yugi asks.
“He is well. I dropped him off at one of his friend’s house on my way here.”
“So you drove yourself? What no big limo?” Joey asks in fake horror.
“Joey.” Ryou warns.
“You better not make my koi mad. He has really sharp elbows.” Bakura chuckles before holding his side. “Ouch.”
“I enjoy driving myself occasionally.” Seto answers the sandy blonde’s question.
“Maybe we can have another little get together soon and Mokuba could join us.” Yugi suggest.
“Yeah, I still have to try and beat him at the game in the arcade.” Malik speaks up.
“That kid is amazing when it comes to games.” Marik takes a sip of his iced tea.
“He takes after me.” Seto smirks.
“Too bad he is more into video games than Duel Monsters.” Yami shakes his head slightly.
“Well, if your big brother was one of the best duelists in the world, I think it would be difficult to follow his footsteps.” Ryou reaches over to wipe a drop of sauce from Bakura’s chin.
“And he is friends with several top duelists.” Yugi adds.
“Speaking of Duel Monsters. Why don’t we have a game after dessert, Kaiba?” Yami looks across the table at the brunette. “You did bring your deck, right?”
“I always carry my deck.” Seto assures.
“So it’s on. After cake we get to watch the Priest and Pharaoh destroy each other.” Marik smirks.
“The winner is mine.” Bakura challenges.
“Sounds good to me.” Seto shrugs.
“Then it’s a deal.” Yami smirks as he continues eating.
