\Yami to Yugi\
/Yugi to Yami/
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The early morning light shone brightly through the skylight, illuminating the relaxed features of the older teen as he peacefully slumbered. Gingerly, the small youth untangled himself from his yami, easing out of the bed with the intention of taking a long, hot shower.
The pulsing water soothed the tension from the taut muscles, but did nothing to relieve the worries and anxieties of his mind. He replayed the games of last night in his head, coming to the same conclusion--it had been fun and physically fulfilling, but it left him feeling empty, hollow, and sad. For him, sex was more than just physical--it was a melding of the body, the heart, the soul. Without love, it meant nothing.
After sneaking back into their bedroom to dress, he headed downstairs. But what to do? He didn't feel like watching TV, and instinctively he knew that all of his friends would still be asleep. Needing to get out of the house, he slipped on his shoes and headed for the park. Sitting beside the lake, the placid surface shimmering in the morning light, he closed his eyes, relaxing his body and freeing his mind. The worries and stress from earlier vanished in the tranquil setting. He closed the mind-link with Atemu; he didn't want to talk with him yet. Right now, all he wanted was to enjoy the solitude and decide what, if anything, he would say to his koishii. After all, Yami enjoyed the sexual escapades with the other two couples. Would he give that up for Yugi? That thought worried him. What would he do if he asked his koibito to stop having sex with other people and he refused? What if the partner swapping means more to him than Yugi does? What if he left Yugi instead? These thoughts plagued the boy's mind, slowly eroding his self-confidence and his belief and trust in his koi. Unbidden and uncontrollable, tears filled the large crystalline orbs and rolled down the pale cheeks.
Atemu stretched, instinctively reaching for his hikari's warm, soft body. Ruby eyes flew open as he encountered only empty space. Puzzled by Yugi's absence, he immediately called him through their link.
\Aibou? Where are you?\ Receiving no response, the older teen panicked slightly. Why doesn't he answer? Perhaps he went to one of his friend's houses, he mused. Pulling on a pair of faded jeans and a t-shirt, he grabbed the cordless phone and headed downstairs.
After calling everyone he could think of and being told that none of their friends has seen or heard from him since last night, he really began to worry. What if something had happened to his kawaii chibi iti? He tried the link again and there was still no response. Now the former pharaoh began to panic slightly. Yugi never before blocked their link unless he was upset; why was he doing so now? Yami mentally reviewed their last conversation; everything had been fine--more than fine, as he recalled last night. His aibou's willingness to participate had surprised him. The mental image of his luscious koibito and Mariku filled his mind and he felt himself becoming aroused at the memory. Needing to focus on locating his koi, he exerted his self-control to stop his lustful thoughts. Now was not the time--not when he didn't know where his koishii had gone.
It was late afternoon when Yugi returned home to find Yami frantic with worry. "Where have you been?!" his koi cried, glomping him and placing gentle kisses all over his face. "I've tried all day to reach you--why didn't you answer? I've been so worried!"
A weak smile flashed briefly on the depressed teen's face. "Gomen, Yami." Extricating himself from the tight grip, he fled upstairs, not offering any explanation as to where he had been. He felt the tears threaten to flow again; he didn't want his koi to see him cry. If he did, he would demand answers; answers that Yugi didn't want to express yet.
Knowing that the bedroom was not the place to hide, he locked himself in the bathroom. Splashing cold water over his pale face, he struggled to regain control of his emotions. When he was sure that he could face him without breaking down, he opened the door, not surprised to find Atemu waiting for him.
The older teen, the love of his life, wrapped his arms lovingly around his thin body. "What is bothering you, koishii? Whatever it is, please tell me; don't shut me out." He kissed Yugi lovingly, tracing his full lips with the tip of his teasing tongue. Unable to stop with that brief taste of his aibou, he slipped his searching muscle into the warm cavern, tasting the sweet and intoxicating freshness of his hikari.
"No, Atemu!," Yugi cried, breaking free from his embrace and running down the stairs and out the door. Stunned, the former pharaoh was frozen by his koibito's actions. Determined to find out what was troubling his aibou so much, he raced after the smaller one, his longer legs giving him the advantage he needed. He caught Yugi and lifted him up, cradling him in his strong embrace. The heartsick teen could no longer hold back his fears and insecurities. He buried his face against his koi's strong chest, silent sobs shaking the slender shoulders. He shut his mind to his yami--he didn't want him feeling the pain and agony he was experiencing.
Carrying his koishii upstairs to their bedroom, he placed him carefully on the bed, lying down beside him, wrapping his arms around the shaking body. Silently, he brushed the hair away from the beautiful face, trailing his fingers lightly across the silky alabaster skin. "Please, aibou, won't you tell me what is wrong? How can we fix this if you won't talk to me? Please koishii, talk to me. Don't shut me out...I love you."
That declaration made Yugi cry even harder. His tears fell copiously, wetting the tanned fingers that were so softly stroking his skin. The image of his yami with Malik and Ryou flashed into his tortured mind; vividly he recalled the look of ecstasy on his koibito's face as the other hikari's made love to him. His self-confidence fell even further; why would anyone give up that for him?
Bewildered, Atemu held on tighter, desperately wanting to help, but not sure what he could do. What was causing his hikari so much pain? And why was he afraid to talk to him about it? Again, he tried to contact Yugi through their mental link, but the younger boy had erected a mental barricade and he was unable to reach him. Not knowing what else to do, he pressed his lips lovingly against his precious aibou's temple. "I'm here for you Yugi, whenever you feel like talking about what is causing you so much pain." Releasing his grip on the thin body, he stood up and left the room.
The stunned youth watched disbelievingly as his koibito walked away from him. That was all the proof he needed. Atemu didn't love and need him as much as he needed Atemu. For Yugi, his koishii yami was the reason for his existence. Without him, there was no joy, no hope. His heart shattered, leaving the tiny youth a hollow shell of the happy teen he had been before.
Numbly, he removed the puzzle from around his neck and placed it in the middle of their bed. He no longer needed it. Grabbing his backpack, he stuffed some clothes in it and climbed out the window; he couldn't risk sneaking out the door. Reaching the ground, he fled down the street and headed for the only safe place he could think of.
Twilight was setting in when he finally reached his destination. To his relief, light was shining through the front windows, assuring the exhausted youth that someone was home. Knocking on the door, he looked up as the wooden portal swung open and the familiar tall slender body stood in the entrance. "Yugi?"
The dull violet eyes looked up impassively. "Hello, Kaiba. Can I stay here tonight?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, another chappie finished! So, what do you think? Will Atemu find out what is hurting Yugi? And is his love for his hikari stronger than his desire for Mariku, Kura, Ryou, and Malik? Will Yugi turn to Kaiba to ease his pain?
I promise that everything will be decided in the next, and final, chapter. Don't worry! I'm still working on "Resurrecting the Darkness" plus I've got a couple of other ideas that I'm working on. Anyway, please review!!!!
