Chapter 5- Confrontation

Yami opened his eyes, and looked up. The persistent knocking at the door continued. He got up off of the bed, being careful not to wake Yugi, and went into the hall. He went to the front door, and opened it. A tall man in a suit stood there.

“Master Mouto?” He asked. Yami nodded. “I have been sent to bring you and your other to the residence of Seto Kaiba.” Immediately, Yami was wide awake.

“Just a moment!” He gasped, and ran back to the bedroom. “Aibou! Wake up!”

“Huh? Nan desu ka, Yami-chan?” Yugi mumbled, sleepily.

“We’re going to Kaiba’s!”

************

Seto and Mokuba Kaiba watched the monitors.

“Is it right to spy on them like this?” Mokuba asked. The interior of the limo was being shown, from a hidden camera. Bakura, Ryou, Malik and Marik were there, and they were waiting for Yugi and Yami to come in.

“I’m gathering information, Mokuba.” Seto said. The door to the car opened, and a tall, spiky haired boy climbed in. “There’s Yami.” Kaiba said, then blinked, as another tall spiky haired boy got in.

“Or is that Yami?” Mokuba gasped. The boys sat side by side, blinking at their four friends.

“No, I think the first one is.”

“Pharaoh.” Bakura said. The second one nodded.

“Or not.” Kaiba muttered. “By God I can barely tell them apart!” Mokuba nodded his agreement.

“Hello, Yugi.” Ryou said, cheerfully.

“Hey, Ryou. How are you?” Yugi asked smiling at his friend.

“I’ve been better.” Ryou said, wincing as he shifted. Bakura put his arm around Ryou, kissing his cheek.

“What happened this time?” Yami sighed.

“Client got drunk.” Bakura said shortly. “Went too hard, and tore him.” Ryou flinched again, and leaned on his yami. “I was drunk last night, got one hell of a hangover right now. Can’t heal him.” Bakura said. Yami sighed, and moved in front of Ryou. He closed his eyes, and put his hands on Ryou’s hips. There was a soft warm glow, and Ryou gasped. Yami moved back to his seat, and Ryou shifted, hesitantly, before smiling.

“Arigato, Yami-chan.” He said, smiling.

“Hai. Arigato, Pharaoh.” Bakura said, nodding to Yami, who returned the gesture.

“Oi! Don’t light that up in here, Marik!” Malik suddenly shrieked. Marik blinked. He had a joint in his mouth, and was lifting a lighter up to it. “Give me that!” Malik shouted, and snatched the thing from his dark, tossing it out the window.

“Hey!” Marik roared. “Why the hell did you do that?!?”

Kaiba switched off the monitor, unable to watch any longer. He looked at Mokuba, who looked as upset as he felt.

“See what I mean?” He said. “They’re total strangers.”

*****************

Kaiba and Mokuba watched from a window as the limo pulled up. The six boys got out, all dressed in tight black leather pants, and tight sleeveless shirts, ranging in color from white to egg plant. They entered the mansion, and were guided to the dining room. Kaiba nodded to Mokuba, and they went to the dining room to meet their guests. All eyes looked up eagerly when they entered. They began to stand, but Kaiba stopped them.

“Stay where you are.” He said, harshly, making his guests blink in confusion. “I wish I could say I’m happy to see you, but I can’t. I don’t even know you.” The yamis and hikaris blinked. “Not anymore. I want some explanations for all I witnessed last night. What the hell happened to you?” He glared around the table, making even the yamis feel guilty.

“Seto, what are you talking about?” Yami asked. Kaiba frowned.

“Why the hell did you abandon the game shop?” Kaiba snapped. Yami and Yugi looked down.

“I had to leave.” Yugi said, quietly. “I couldn’t stay there after Grampa died. It didn’t feel right.”

“Right?” Kaiba echoed. “Right? I’ll tell you what doesn’t feel right! That you left the game shop and started stripping!” Yugi blinked, surprised. “I went to that fucking club last night looking for you. I was wondering why the hell you were hanging out a such a place. The next thing I know, Yami’s jacking Yugi on a stage in front of dozens of people! Yugi, your Grand father would be ashamed to see what you’ve become!” Yami stood angrily.

“Don’t you dare speak to him like that!” Yami shouted.

“And you’re just as bad, Yami!” Kaiba roared, stunning the shorter boy. “How could you let him! I thought you’d take better care of Yugi. I’m disgusted with both of you.” Yami slowly sank into his seat. Kaiba rounded on Marik now.

“And you. I know you’re psychotic, but even I thought you would be smarter.” Marik scowled.

“What the fuck are you talking about?” He asked. Mokuba reached into Marik’s pocket, and dumped a handful of coccaine and marijuana onto the dining room table.

“That answer your question?” Mokuba snarled, just as upset as his brother.

“And what the hell are you up to Malik? What you’re doing is just as dangerous.” Kaiba spat. Malik glared at Kaiba defiantly, but he was feeling a twinge of guilt. “What the two of you are doing could get you both hurt, arrested, or killed” He turned to Ryou an Bakura now.

“But I’m more disappointed in you two than the others. Ryou, how could you reduce yourself to allowing Bakura to sell your body? And Bakura, what the fuck do you think you’re doing selling him like that!?! Do you know how much danger he’s in? He was almost kidnapped and raped last night because of you! He could get hurt! He could get sick! He could get killed! What the fuck are you thinking?!? I’m disgusted with all of you! All of you! And if you three think that this is ‘taking care of’ your hikaris, I’d hate to see you not taking care of them! Now, you’re going to explain just what happened to send you down this path. I have to know. Why are doing what you’re doing?” the three yamis and hikaris stared down at the table, refusing to look at Kaiba.

“You guys were our friends.” Mokuba said. “You still are. And we care about you. But we don’t understand why you guys are doing this! you guys had it made! Yugi, you and Yami had the game shop! Ryou, you were a fabulous writer! What ever happened to your dream of being a published author? And Bakura’s dream of being a professional airbrush artist? And Malik, you wanted to be a private investigator, right? What did you want, Marik? What happened to all you dreams? Your goals in life. What happened to the Duel Monsters Champions you guys used to be? How long has it been since you’ve played? You never used to go anywhere without you decks. I have mine.” Mokuba slapped his deck onto the table. “Where are yours?” The six boys stared at the table, as Kaiba set his deck down next to Mokuba’s. the others didn’t move. Kaiba felt his heart drop. He stared at Yami.

“You’re disgraceful.” He said. Slowly, Yami looked up at Kaiba, his old friend and rival. “So much for the King of Games. So much for any of you. You’re strangers. All of you.” Slowly, Kaiba sat down. “Tell me what happened.”
