Cleaning up

Normal P.O.V.
The scene again shifted, startling Seto. They appeared in a lavishly decorated room.
“This is your room?” Jani was looking around in fascination from where he was sitting on a low couch. The tendons in his ankle were finally starting to loosen.
“Yes.” The high priest removed the headdress, and shook out his hair. “Damn thing. I wish I could burn you.” He glared at the headdress like he could set it on fire by just looking at it. He turned to find Jani starting at a bowl of fruit. “Are you hungry?”
“Yes, master. You are my master now, right?”
“Yes, I am. However, while you are in this room, you do not have to call me that. Only in the presence of others must you address me as master or your highness.” He tossed Jani an apple.
“Then what should I call you?” He had still not looked up once. He smiled as he bit into the apple.
“Seth. Look at me.”
After a few seconds, the youth finally lifted his eyes. Seto and Seth gasped in unison. His eyes were the color of warm golden amber. Seto turned to stare at Jounouchi. He could be his identical twin, except Jani’s skin is darker.
Jani quickly finished the apple. “Mas…Seth?”
Ignoring the tentative call from his new personal servant Seth turned to the door. “Let’s get you cleaned up. Mari!” A young woman ran into the room.
“Yes, your highness?”
“See that my personal bath is warmed. We will be there in five minutes.”
“Yes, sir.” She bowed and flitted out of the room to call the water to the fires for heating.
“Undress and put this on.” Seth handed him a red robe.
Jani stared at it. He reached slowly to caress the fabric. “Is this…silk?”
“Yes.”
“I have never touched silk. I am not worthy of wearing it.” He looked away.
“Yes, you are. Now put it on. Take it as an order if you must.” He turned and walked through the open doorway. “When you have changed, follow me.”
“Yes, master.” Seth paused in the doorway and cleared his throat. “I mean Seth.” Jani blushed in embarrassment. Seth chuckled lightly as he continued walking away. Jani slowly undressed. Seto blushed and looked away before he could remove the skirt from around his waist.
“You can look now, Seto. He has the robe on.” Jou walked after himself.
The bath was warm. Plants and cat statues lines the walls. Painted hieroglyphics proclaimed something across the wall. Seth was already relaxing in the warm water. More water was being poured into the bath as servant after servant brought in more pitchers. “See to his wounds.”
“Yes, your highness.” A small elderly man stepped forward. “If you would come with me, please, we must clean those before they become infected.”
“Okay.” The blond followed him through another door, still limping slightly. A few minutes later a shriek filled the air. “That hurt!” The bathing priest chuckled. Seto stared at himself.
“I am sorry, but it must be done.” A gengle voice came from the room.
“Well, then make it quick.” A pause. “Ow!”
Seto continued to look around. Everything was so familiar. With a start, he recognized what the hieroglyphs on the wall said. High Priest. Guardian of the dragons. But I can’t read Egyptian. This is the second time this has occurred. What is going on here? Unbeknownst to Seto, as his brain would not accept it, he was listening to everything in Ancient Egyptian and automatically converting it to Japanese in his mind.
“Master, I am finished. All of his major wounds have been cleaned and wrapped with the pharaoh’s enchanted bandage. He should be fine in a couple of days.”
“Thank you. Jani, come.”
Jani walked slowly to the bath. A small pink colored his cheeks. “Yes, master?”
“Get in and clean yourself. The bandages are waterproof so you can fully immerse yourself.” After a pause the boy gave a huge smile and hopped into the bath water like a true ‘cannonballer’. A small wave washed over the priest. “Hey!”
“I’m sorry!” The blond cowered in a corner. “I’ve never had a warm bath. Please, don’t hurt me.”
Seth sighed. “I am not going to hurt you for a little water. Now wash yourself. Mari, my shoulders. He was not easy to carry.” The woman again appeared, beginning the deep massage to remove the kinks from the tightened muscles. Two soldiers followed her into the room.
Seto, Jou, and Seth watched as Jani played in the water. In a fit of his happiness, he pulled the priest into a hug. Everyone in the room gasped, including Seto and Seth. “Thank you!” With a sudden start, he realized what he had just done. A look of fear crossed his face as he lurched backward. “I didn’t mean it! I’m sorry. I’m dead…I’m dead.”
Shock was on the priest’s face. He had been startled by the sudden hug. A soldier moved to grab the blond. At the boy’s cry of alarm he snapped back into focus. “No! He meant no harm. Leave him.” Everyone looked at the priest with confusion, including his future reincarnation. The blond gasped as he was pulled back into the priest’s body. “Such an unusual hair color…”
“Why was the guard going to grab him?” Seto looked questioningly at Jou.
“No one is to touch the high priest or pharaoh without their direct permission.” Jou answered him quietly. “If he had not stopped the guard, Jani would have been killed on the spot.”
“Wash your hair, and then we will get out and dry.” Seth turned to Mari. “Find clothes suitable for him, and bring my chest with you. He must not go unclaimed through the halls.”
“Yes, master.” She bowed.
“I am finished.” Jani stood naked before Seth with dripping wet hair, blushing greatly. The scent of roses filled the air. Seto tried not to gape at the form standing before him.
“Then, let us dry off.”
“Hey!” Jani struggled as two men wrapped him in a towel. “Get your hands off me! I can dry myself.”
“Let him do as he wishes. He is not used to this.” Seto was also being dried and dressed.
Mari returned with a green tunic. Jani stared at it with wide eyes. “Put it on, Jani.”
“Yes, master.”
A knock sounded from the door. “Enter.”
Seto gasped as Yami walked into the room dressed in his pharaoh attire. Everyone quickly bowed, including Jani and Seth. “Seth, the stolen papyrus cards have been reclaimed. As I do not have the time, will you please look through them for me to see if they have been damaged?”
“Yes, my pharaoh.” Seth bowed again.
“Thank you, my friend.” The pharaoh turned to leave.
Seth suddenly smirked. “Going to spend some time with that little slave of yours?”
The pharaoh blushed bright pink before schooling his features. “As a matter of fact I am, but later on tonight. Right now I have a meeting to attend with the visiting foreigners. They are looking to make trade with us. If you have time, stop by the council room. We will need to know if their actions are honest.” Yami pointedly looked at the Millennium rod hanging from Seth’s belt.
“Of course. I will see you there.” Seth bowed again slightly.
“By the way, Seth, he’s cute. He has such an unusual hair color.” The pharaoh winked at Jani who had looked up in shock. The pharaoh laughed as he walked out the door.
“I don’t get it. I thought the priest and pharaoh were enemies.” Seto looked at Jou for answers.
“They will be.”
“How? Why?”
“You will see.” Jou saddened. Tears were again in his eyes.
Uh oh. It must be something bad. Seth and the pharaoh almost appear to be…friends. What could turn them against each other? Why am I getting this sad feeling of loss?
“Jani, while I am gone, I want you to finish getting dressed. After you have done so, chose anything you wish from the chest at the end of the bed. Put them on. They will identify you as one of my palace servants. Make sure no one touches the cards on the table.” He replaced the headdress on his head with a disdainful grimace.
“Yes, Seth.” Jani grinned. Seth smiled as he walked out the door. Seto just stared at the look of fondness that crossed his…Seth’s face.
