"Nefert! Would you like to tell me WHY for the last two weeks every time I've seen Keke's hikari he's been smiling and laughing? Only one day was he even remotely sad?" Right now I wished I was talking to her face to face instead of over this machine. I could slap her that way.
"If I knew, I would also know how to destroy them. Two weeks ago, I made sure Yugi saw Yami betray him. Why would he forgive him? The boy has no self-esteem! One would think it would have crushed him."
"You're underestimating the bond between a Yami and Hikari. One blow isn't enough to cripple it. You know how caring Keke COULD be."
Nefert scoffed and sighed. "Well fine, then do you have a suggestion?" she asked quietly.
"Keke has said he still cares for you, hasn't he?"
"Yes, though now, I do not wish for him to touch me with his perverted nature. I would rather..." Nefert sighed. "Yes, but how can we use that against him."
"So, Use the perversion against him, let the boy think that his lover is still betraying him." The idiocy of this woman astounds me sometimes, if she wasn't useful to me I'd've killed her by now.
"Of course. Tomorrow we have a field trip. Perhaps I can get Yami to come out then." Nefert said.
"Good, do that. Meanwhile, I'll be putting my plan into action."
"Plan? Anything I can do to help you?" Nefert purred.
"Do you know anything of Magic?"
Nefert exhaled, "Only a little. Mostly it was the pervert who knew magic."
"Then just get the boy upset. I can't kill him with Keke running about protecting him."
"Yes, Shebi. Is there anything else I can do for you?"
"No, you've done more than enough. I'll contact you if I need you again."
I let the phone drop back to the cradle and shook my head. Nefert, my brother's wife was hitting on me. Well, once a whore always a whore, they say.

Can this "field trip" get anymore boring? All these kids are doing is walking around and talking to people about what they do for a living. And there's Keke and his light. Can this get anymore sickening? I swear, Yugi is almost glowing and that grin of his going to split his face in half. I'd like nothing more than to take over and pound that smile off his face. But with my "dear brother" so close, watching him like some lovesick dog, that wouldn't be wise.
Yugi picked up a brochure and showed it to Yami, "Well this is a good company. I can get some experience before I take over Ji-chan's shop."
"Sound like a good plan, Aibou." Yami answered.
Yugi hugged his lover and snuggled into his chest.
Now that is just sickening. They're hugging, and of course, my hikari thinks it's sweet. I wish I had a body now, just so I could gag. Tonight, I get to set my plan into action, at least. After tonight the brat will be mine.
Yugi wondered what they were to do about lunch. Catching sight of a school uniform, he headed for it.
Keke and his light are coming over here, and the brat is talking to my light, wanting to know what they’re doing for lunch. Hmmm, so this field trip ends at lunch.
"After lunch, we can visit your house. Is your dad home?" Yugi leaned back in Yami's arms
‘Brother’ dear is holding his brat tightly. If he knew I was so close would he be holding him tighter, or would he be running in fear? Poor brother is looking a tad tired, and my light is "more than happy" to have them over. This is just too perfect.
Yugi handed Yami his wallet. "Why don't you go get food for us?"
He’s far too trusting to just take the money and walk away. Maybe I should come out, just for a moment.
Yugi watched as Yami moved off, "I know, usually Yami would ask me to go with him but he's in this mood. Ever since we made up, he'll do anything I tell him...who knows when I’ll get this chance again."
My light is laughing, calling my brother cute. Finally he's doing something useful, asking him what the fight was about. "Not to pry, though." By Ra, this boy is too sensitive!
"He betrayed me. Bad things happened because of it. He kept apologizing for what happened but not why it happened." Yugi sighed and closed his eyes. "He's... I love him, you know."
My Hikari is hugging him and telling him "It's all right", and "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you." I think I'm going to retch.
Yugi smiled and wiped his eyes. "It's ok, we are happy again... I'm still pissed but we're good. Except now he's going to be even more overprotective.&nbs
"At least he cares for you." Was that a dig my little light? I think it was. We'll have to have a ‘talk’ about that later.
Yugi reached up and brushed his friend's hair away from his face. "Your yami loves you. I know he does. How can he not, when you have such a good and wonderful soul. Talk to him, he loves you. He may not know how to show it but I can’t believe he doesn’t."
Love HIM? Don’t make me laugh. He’s useful to me. I think the boy actually believes the brat. How cute, he’s smiling
Yami came up with a tray of food. Yugi hugged him around the waist and squeezed hard. Letting go he walked over to the table.
Those two need to get a room, seriously. I'd like to grab one of those bottles of water and dump it on them.
They're finally done eating, as if it takes forever to eat a couple of sandwiches and walk a few blocks. Now they are nearly back to my light's house. Prefect, if I can only hold out through this conversation. Talking about card trading at some old man's shop. Why my light cares about card trading I don't know. He's more than likely just "being civil" to the brat.
"Well, it would be a good thing. They might buy more cards just to trade."
My Light thinks it's "great idea". If I wasn't a spirit I'd have cavities from the cuteness that radiates from these two. At least Keke went inside his little Puzzle for a nap. "Poor thing" was looking pretty tired when he left. All the better for me.
Yugi pulled out his deck and showed his friend some of his newer cards. "Yami picked up some of these. I can’t wait to use them. We go over them to see what strategies we can make."
Awww, is that a bit of sadness from my light? And he’s telling the brat how lucky he is. This is truly pathetic. We’re at the yard, thank Ra. Just a little more of this cutesy crap.
Yugi stroked the millennium puzzle before turning to face his friend. "Perhaps when we get to your room, do you want to duel? It would be good practice. There’s bound to be another tournament soon."
Of course my light wants to duel, even though he's crap at it. Well, that's nice, he finally remembered the "present" he has for the brat. Something he found in the attic, something that I put there for him to find. Now, little light, just give the son of bitch the present when we get inside.
"Cool." Yugi followed his friend. "So what is it?"
"A necklace that has the word Darkness in hieroglyphs." And it reminded him of my brother, maybe because it was his. That little trinket will now be his undoing.
Can my light be any slower with the door, though? How much concentration does it take to put a key in a lock and turn it. There, NOW he gets it.
"Perhaps Yami can translate it?"
"Maybe it was Yami’s? Or his father’s."
My light doesn’t know, no surprise there. Maybe I’ll tell him later, when I’m done with the brat. Now find the necklace and hand it to him, little light. That’s right. Now the brat just has to put it on.
Yugi turned it around in his hand. It was beautiful. Slipping it over his head, he kept it from clinking against the puzzle. "Can't wait 'til he sees it!"
"That may be awhile, little brat."
"Nani?" Yugi turned around, his friend's voice... it soundedangeange.
The brat starts to turn, his reflexes are so slow he barely reacts before I knock him out. Too bad, he hit his head on the way down. That'll leave a mark. Maybe set him down gently when I get him to the attic, or maybe not. All I have to do is wait for him to wake up and realize his precious "Yami" can't help him.
My head hurts. Oww... he hit me. Yugi tried to open his eyes slowly. His head hurt. He discovered his hands were tie when he couldn't use them to stand up.
"Well, the brat's awake, took you long enough." Keke's little hikari bound hand and foot, oh what he would do if he could see this. He's stuck in that puzzle. My spell worked, or he'd be out by now, wonder what the brat will do when he figures out he's alone with me. When he can see me, that is.
Yugi stopped twisting when he heard the voice behind him. "Who are you? What did you do to my friend?"
"So quick to forget are we? Or does your brain stop when your deck leaves your hands?"
"Sorry. I just can't think when a heavy handed idiot hits me."
He winces when I kick him in the ribs. Was that a crack? How pathetic.
"Not another rib...Yami is gonna be pissed." Yugi sighed. Why did everyone always go for his ribs?
"Oh, I wouldn't worry about my "dear brother" now. He can't help you; he's locked away inside that Puzzle. You're all alone, little brat. It's just you and me."
Yugi's eyes widened. Yami? YAMI? YAMI! NUSHI? Oh shit.
"Oh shit, indeed." Hmmm, his hair isn't greasy, that's interesting. I pull his face up to look at me. There's fear in his eyes, he's trying to hide it but it's there plainly. "
He can hear you. Every shout, every scream, but he can't get to you. He's trapped in there. All thanks to your naiveté."
Yugi bit his lip, determined not to show hurt or fear to this...bastard who has taken over his friend. I really should hand out a warning to my friends...be my friend and you too soon will be possessed!
"You have my brother's determination. How touching. He lost his life because of it, and now, you'll lose yours to it
"If I follow in Yami's path, that's enough for me. I'll wait until I can come back to him." Yugi whispered
"Come back to him? Oh no brat. With what I have planned for you, even the gods themselves couldn't bring you two together again."
Yugi laughed under his breath, and waited for the next foolish thing this monster would say. Yami, I love you.
"How touching. Maybe I should seal your soul into that necklace my hikari gave you. Then you can be right next to your lover forever, or at least until someone finds your rotting corpse."
Yugi closed his eyes and thought about the heart of the cards. He knew then that no matter what happened, he would be rejoined with Yami. "You can destroy me but I'll always be with Yami."
"Together we can defeat you, Evil spirit."
Oh, now that is rich, I have to let him go to keep from falling to the floor laughing. "Defeat me? You'd kill your little friend. Can you do that, Yugi? Can you kill someone that cares about you just so you can be with your lover?"
"Kill him? No, he's my friend. Destroy the demonic spirit possessing him, YES!"
"Ahhh, but we're two halves of the same soul also. If you destroy me, you destroy half of him. Think about it brat. How would you feel if someone destroyed your dark half?"
"I'd be lost, but now I know why he said his Yami didn't love him. You can't love him, and to think, he's waiting for you to love him. To be a lover and partner to you. My Yami is so different from you that it's not even near the same."
"He's as naive and foolish as you are." I let him go, maybe he'll squeak like my light when he hits the ground. Yugi grit his teeth and tried not to let those tears get to his eyes. He sat on the ground and waited. He could wait forever. Yami was depending on him. He couldn’t let him down.
"You're so much like my brother, so much it's sickening. Maybe I should just kill you, or maybe... Maybe I should let you live all the hell I had to when he locked away my soul. Let my "dearest brother" see you suffer as I did."
Yugi opened his eyes and looked at him, "Shebi-ib? He loves you. He told me so. Said you were adventurous and funny and a happy soul. He still loves you. Yes, perhaps you did suffer but he did it because he thought you were being hurt. He loves you."
"Love? Don't make me laugh. If he did love me then he wouldn't've sealed off the Shadow Realm with everyone in it. He knew we'd be there."
"Yes... and so was he. He, as much as I hate to admit it, had a family. Children he would never see again. Yet he did it. He hated it, but it was needed."
"And to do it he had to seal all of us in with him? Our only sister? Our baby brother?"
"Yes! He would tell me of his family and how much he loves them. He remembers Mes-enkha and Ahmose. He remembers you. He remembers others. He loves them but you were getting so powerful, you threatened the world. He couldn't let you endanger, even unwittingly, your childor hor his."
"Is that what he told you? Did he tell you our youngest brother, could only stay in the Shadow Realm a few hours. WE were getting too powerful? That's the pot calling the kettle black."
"He loves all of you. And yes, he told me that he was so consumed with the games and the power... so much so, he wasn't paying attention to his sons daugdaughters. He regrets not spending more time with them."
Yugi closed his eyes. "Of course if he had then he wouldn't have noticed the problem, he wouldn't have been forced to solve it the way he did and I wouldn't have the love of my life. And ner wor would you."
"There you go about love again. Love doesn't get you anywhere, brat."
"That’s not true. If you only knew what power you could have if you and your hikari loved each other. Perhaps evore ore than me and my Yami have." Yugi stared at him.
"What you and Keke have? Weakness. He leaves himself completely open to attack around you. They threaten you and he gives up.Now, his trust will be his undoing." He stepped up. With the little hikari’s hands tied, it would be no problem at all to take the puzzle off him. Backing away Shebi-ib held it up in front of Yugi’s face.
Yugi watched stunned. Rage flickered in his eyes. "Weakness? We're stronger than you."
"Or so you think, when your precious ‘Yami’ can be killed so easily" The Puzzle is far too fragile, all I have to do is drop it and it shatters. Then pick up one of the pieces and walk over to him.
Yugi closed his eyes and tried to reach deep within himself to feel Yami.
His Yami. I can't help but laugh, this is too rich. "You can't feel anything. He's gone from you. And now he'll be gone forever." While I kneel in front of him, a single touch to one of my cards and it activates. An illusion card, simple but powerful. Now, to watch him as a piece of the Puzzle melts before his eyes.
Yugi cried out and reached for the puzzle piece. Still tied, he slamed back into the wall and stared at him. "Why?"
"Why? Because he deserves that and worse." I toss the ‘melted’ piece at him. "The only downside is now he can't hear you scream as I kill you."
Yugi looked at the piece and wiggled himself around until his fingers could just touch it. Yugi smiled, then turning again towards Shebi-ib, laughed harder. "Yami told me the puzzle couldn't be melted after the fire. So this is a trick."
"Who said I used fire to melt it?"
Yugi stared at him. "It's magic. It can't be destroyed."
"No magic is perfect brat, feel for yourself how deformed it is."
Yugi shrugged his shoulder. "Sorry a bit tied up at the moment. And that doesn't mean it's real. You probably had a fake piece made up."
"Should I destroy the puzzle? Will that make you happy? After all, if I do destroy it, then there's nothing left of your lover at all."
"You can't. I know you can't. You are trying to make me doubt Yami, like Nefert did...and you probably helped her. My poor friend. You'll never love him, will you?" Yugi leaned against the wall and closed his eyes.
It's sickening the way he clings to that false hope like it's the only thing that'll keep him alive. "You're truly pathetic. But let's see if you hold your defiance when you live your worst fear." With the Eye, and my cards this illusion is easy to pull off. Now to watch the show.
Yugi kept his eyes closed. He didn't want to see what trick Shebi-ib would come up with next. He would not doubt Yami. He refused. He had before, this time he won't. He couldn’t.
"Keep your eves closed, brat. That's exactly what I want you to do."
Yugi frowned. Either he said that so I would open my eyes or he has something else planned. Nushi.
"Foolish, brat," With a touch to his forehead the illusion begins.
Yugi watched the scene in front of his eyes. He knew it had to be lie. Straining against the bonds, he twisted his hands. Gritting his teeth, he tried not to scream.
"Nefert...no... he... mine!"
Yugi could see her, dressed in a filmy white linen shift. Her hair was long and braided. She stood in Domino Park, holding a basket. Behind her came three children. They laughed and every giggle was a knife to his heart.
Yugi grimaced, seeing those pictures. He knew what had to come next. Bucking against his restraints, he screamed silently.
"No!"
Yami came forward and took the basket out of her arms. Laughing, he spread out a blanket and took out food. She leaned down and kissed him
"It's a lie, it's all a lie, it's a lie, a lie, alie,aliealliealiealie."
This is too perfect, I only wish my brother could see this. His precious little Yugi writhing on the floor in agony.
Yami reached up and stroked her cheek. "Come. Lie down."
She lown own and placed her head on his chest. "Your heart..."
"Beats for you. Listen to it." Yami stroked her hair back
From the side came two children, jumping on him, they laughed and tickled Yami, calling him 'Tef'.
Yugi cried, his eyes closed so tight, it seemed he'd never open them again. His lips were ripped where he bit them, blood ran down his chin. Blood pooled in the palms of his hands from his nails digging in.
Screaming he opened his eyes wide and turned to face Shebi-ib. He grinned maniacally blood smeared on his teeth. "NO! His heart beats for me. I own Yami. And that is a life. I will die before I give him up."
He broke my illusion, He's stronger than I thought he was. No matter, I have no more use for him anyway. "If death is the only thing you feel will separate you, then I'll do what I should've done a long time ago." There's all kinds of junk up here, ‘antiquities’ my light calls them. There's a knife in there, it's dull but it tears into the flesh of his stomach easily anyway. "And now I will leave you here to die." Laughing Shebi-ib walks out the room.
Yugi looked at the pieces lying around him. None of them were melted of course. Pushing them together he stared at them. He tucked his knees up to his chest, wincing as the wound pulled. Trying not to pass out, he pulled his hands under his feet. He could barely feel the pain, after everything else, he guessed he was running on adrenaline. Hoping it would last, he looked at the knife. (It)The knife lay about a foot away. Reaching out slowly, tears coursing down his face from the pain, he grabbed it and sawed at the ropes binding his hands. The second they were freed, he pulled the necklace that Ryou had given him and tossed it into the corner. Looking at the puzzle, he started pulling pieces together without even thinking about it. As the last piece fell into place, he sighed, then collapsed to the floor, the puzzle laying a pool of cooling blood.
Suddenly a golden light shines and the puzzle glows. Yami stood before Yugi. Seeing his hikari, he drops to his knees with a silent cry. Yami places his hand over the bleeding wound, sealing it off. The puzzle around his neck started to glow as he healed his lover. His eyes shut tight, not wanting to look at the blood that covered the boy's clothes, face, and hands. The spirit pressed his lips to the boy's forehead when the wound was healed, still whispering. He ran a finger over Yugi's lower lip. "Aibou, open your eyes."
"Nu... ushhi." Yugi pressed his face into Yami's chest.
Yami stroked his cheek. "I'm here, Hikari, I'm here. Who did this to you?"
Yugi teared up. "Poor Ryou... Bakura can't love. Shebi-ib is Yami Bakura."
"My brother is... Where is he, Aibou?"
"He stabbed me and left. Nushi, why Ryou-kun?" Yugi cried softly. "He showed me... illusions. Of you... and Nefert. Being together..."
Yami rubbed his back and sighed. "Aibou, how many times must I tell you..."
Yugi placed his finger over Yami's lips. "I know. That's how I broke his illusions. I told him it was not true. It couldn't be true. Your heart doesn't beat for her. It's mine. It beats for me, koi."
Yami smiled and moved Yugi's hand from his lips, kissing him gently.
Yugi responded, pressing closer. "Hai, koibito. Koibito no boku."
Yami hugged him, then stood up. "Can you stand?"
Yugi looked into the caring crimson eyes and smiled shakily. Wrapping one hand around Yami's hand, "Maybe... with help."
The Pharaoh put his arm around Yugi, supporting him. "I'll always help you when you need it, Aibou."
Yugi stood leaning against Yami. "I think you need to leave me here and make sure Bakura is gone."
"Will you be all right here, Aibou?"
"Yes, as long as he doesn't come back. Be careful." Yugi smiled.
Yami gently ruffled Yugi's hair. "You have nothing to fear if he does, Aibou. You were very brave. I'm proud of you."
Yugi beamed. Pointing to the discarded knife, he sat down in the open doorway.
Yami picked it up and put the knife in Yugi's hand. "You'll need this more than I will, Hikari."
"Hai. Now be careful and... I’ll look around here and see if I can't find clothes to wear. If I go out like this... the cops are going to pick us up."
Yami nodded, and cautiously started to walk down the stairs, looking for his brother. He made his way through the second story of the house finding nothing and slowly descended the stairs to the first story. His eyes narrowed, and the Sennen Eye on his forehead started to glow when he found his brother. His back was turned, and he was on the phone, gloating. He still had the same flair for dramatics, making wild hand gestures as he chatted to someone. The Pharaoh cleared his throat loudly, causing his brother to turn. The phone fell from the ex-tomb robber's hand as the two brothers looked each other in the eyes. "How many times do I have to you you in the Shadow Realm before you stay there, Shebi-ib?"
