Chapter 5
Disclaimer: Not mine.
Warnings: See other chapters, I'm just too damned lazy to think right now.
Author: Koneko Shido
A/N: Takada is just some random name I made up. If you've heard it before, I didn't intend to copy it. Knowing me, it probably means 'chair' or something.
Dark Light 5
Ryou sat in the waiting room at the surgery, worried about what to tell the doctor. He could hardly just say 'Excuse me, but I think I may have killed some people. Could you help, maybe?'
"Ryou Bakura?" The receptionist called out and he stood up, trembling slightly. He really hated doctor's surgeries, that antiseptic smell made him think of a morgue. "The doctor will see you now."
"Thank you." Ryou nodded to her and followed her directions to a room with a metal plate on the door, saying 'Dr. Takada', which he knocked upon politely.
"Come in," a deep voice called, and Ryou opened the door, his heart pounding. "Ah, Ryou! How's your father?" The heavily built, silver-haired doctor asked, gesturing for Ryou to closed the door behind him and sit down.
"Fine, he's out of town at the moment." Ryou said, looking around the small office nervously. It had a shiny metal model of a spine on one wall which he couldn't stop staring at.
"Now, what seems to be the trouble?" Takada asked, writing something that Ryou couldn't see on a bit of paper.
"Well..." Ryou began, not quite sure how to explain himself. "I...I was questioned recently about those murders, the ones on the news." Ryou stammered.
"Ah, yes, terrible business, that." The doctor nodded, gesturing for Ryou to continue.
"Uh, well, I was sure that I was asleep on the couch that night, but the police showed me a picture of the suspect and I'm pretty sure it was me. But I don't remember even going out! So I started thinking, and I read one of my father's old mental health books... It said that people can have a split personality, and do things without knowing. Do...do you think that might be happening to me? That I might be doing all these horrible things?" Ryou asked, trembling slightly at the thought. The doctor stared at him for a few moments, but he could see the seriousness in the boy's chocolate eyes, and knew that Ryou wasn't joking.
"Well, I suppose it's possible..."
Ryou shivered at that, biting his lip.
"Would you like me to test you and see? I can try to draw out the other you, if there is one at all." Takada offered, seeing the look of slight apprehension of Ryou's face. "It won't hurt, I promise."
"Alright, do it." Ryou said, taking a deep breath to calm himself. What if there really was something living inside him that could do those things? What if...
"Come and lie down on the bed, Ryou." Takada gestured to the examination table in the corner of the room, which Ryou shakily walked over to and lay down on. "Now, close your eyes and relax."
Ryou struggled to do as the doctor had ordered, but relaxing was a little difficult in a situation like the one he was in.
"Good. Now take a few deep breaths and-" The doctor stopped as Ryou suddenly flinched violently and opened his eyes, staring up at him. "Ryou? Are you alright?"
"Ryou has left the building. Hello, I'm Bakura, how do you do?" Bakura smirked, showing his fang-like teeth and sitting up as the doctor backed off.
"What-what's going on?" Takada demanded, as Bakura laughed at him and took a look around the office.
"Nice place. I like the spine, very classy." The dark spirit said, looking at the spine model and then back to the doctor, who was about to press the button on his desk to call for assistance. In an instant the doctor was on the floor on his back, looking a little dazed.
"We can't have anyone interrupting our little session now, can we?" Bakura hissed, yanking the alarm system under the desk out, staring at the sparking wires for a moment then tossing it over his shoulder.
"What... What happened to Ryou?" The doctor tried. "Let me speak to him."
"Don't you like talking to me? I'm hurt." Bakura tried to look upset but gave up and shrugged. "Fine, here."
With that said, Bakura closed his eyes and left Ryou, who fell to his knees with a soft moan and gasped, opening his chocolate eyes a few moments later and looking adorably puzzled.
"What happened?" He asked the doctor, who was pulling himself up from the floor and looking pale.
"I spoke with your other self. He called himself 'Bakura' and he left when I asked to speak with you again." Takada explained, frowning at Ryou, who looked shocked.
"I didn't leave," A voice said, and both Ryou and the doctor gasped, turning towards the hospital bed, where Bakura was sat, watching them. "And I'm no split personality. You can't get rid of *me* with a few therapy sessions."
"Wh-what are you!?" Ryou gasped, climbing shakily to his feet and backing away from his look-alike. The doctor had frozen, terrified, and was staring at Bakura through wide eyes.
"Me? I'm a murderer." Bakura grinned, his eyes flashing. The doctor barely had time to blink as the spirit slid off the bed and grabbed the metal spine model off the wall, slamming it down on the back of the man's head in one violent, fluid movement. The spiked metal spinal cord embedded itself it Takada's skull with a sickening thud and the doctor fell limply to the floor, dead before he hit it. Ryou gasped in horror, backing up against the wall as Bakura turned to him, stalking forward.
"Wh-why..." Was all Ryou could manage, looking down at where the doctor lay in a pool of his own blood, the red liquid seeping from his head and spreading across the floor.
"Why not?" Bakura grinned wickedly, pinning Ryou to the wall and looking down at him. "Why are you so afraid?" The spirit asked, noticing that Ryou was trembling.
"Y-you're a killer..."
"And? What's so bad about that?" Bakura asked, raising an eyebrow.
Ryou stared up at him incredulously; somehow knowing deep down that Bakura wasn't going to hurt him.
"Don't you have any morals? Aren't you afraid you'll go to hell? Don't you feel sorry for them at all?" The white haired boy gasped, looking up into Bakura's eyes so he didn't have to look at the doctor.
"You only think it's wrong because they tell you it's wrong. Do you really believe in hell? Can it be any worse than this planet? Besides, most of them probably deserve it."
Ryou shook his head, his eyes filling with tears of fear.
"No!" He cried, breaking away from Bakura to run out of the room, not looking back. Bakura just shrugged, smirking, and vanished. Ryou would come around eventually, and he had plenty of time to kill, anyway.

Mwahah. Well that was enlightening. Why is it all doctor's surgeries I've been in have a model of a spine in them? Is it just there to freak me out, or what? Anyway, it's 7.08 now, I should probably sleep. Review, review, review! Or I'll set Bakura on you, heheh. *Falls asleep on keyboard*
