Yugi held back an excited squeal. It was the day before the class fieldtrip and he was up in his room packing. School had let out early that day as a way to start the Christfestfestivities. The students were sure excited about it. All the teenagers who had signed up to go on the ski trip were to meet at the school at nine the next morning where the buses would drive them to the lodge.
//This is going to be so exciting! I get to dorm up with Yami for four days...it will be like an extra long sleepover!// He giggled, folding a blue sweater and placing it in his half full suitcase. //Oh I just cannot wait until tomorrow!//
The telephone rang, jarring the little one from his thoughts. The boy let it ring once more before picking it up, “Moshi, Moshi?” he spoke into the receiver.
A female’s voice greeted him, “Yugi! Can you believe the big trip is only a sleep away?!”
Yugi smiled, “Hi Anzu! I can’t believe it either, I am so excited! I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep at all tonight! Wow...skiing! I’ve never left Domino City in my life; this will be such a wonderful experience for me!”
Anzu laughed, “And we also have our recital!”
“That’s right,” the small boy answered. “Our Choir recital is on the last day of the trip. Also – I heard you got the lead on ‘all I want for Christmas is You’. I knew you’d make it. Congratulations.”
The girl sighed happily on the other end, “Yes, well...it was inevitable that I was going to get it anyways. I really didn’t have any major competition.”
Yugi shook his head, “No, I guess not but...I don’t know...Ryou has a nice voice...”
“Ryou? Are you crazy?! That albino freak couldn’t sing a note that high if his life depended on it. Yeesh, I was surprised the windows didn’t break when he auditioned.” She paused to chuckle, “but seriously, even if he _could_ sing the song alright...looks still play a major role. You have to look the part; _be_ the part. And Yugi, you must agree that Ryou looks nothing at all like someone who should be leading a song like that. The kid’s clothes say enough; he’s poorer than you are, Yugi, and that is saying something, believe me.”
The violet eyed teen looked down, about to say thatwasnwasn’t poor but decided against it. //To someone as wealthy as Anzu I probably don’t seem that well off at all...// He sighed, “I-I guess you’re right.”
The brunette didn’t hear him as she ranted on and on about the white haired boy and how he lived in the slums and had a juvenile delinquent as a boyfriend and how he was going to get nowhere in his life.
Even though Yugi wasn’t exactly friends with Ryou, he still didn’t want to participate in a discussion where the person he was talking to was bad-mouthing the boy. “Uh, Anzu..? I really should finish packing. It’s getting pretty late and I’m not even halfway finished yet. I’ll-I’ll just see you tomorrow, alright?”
The girl huffed, obviously angry at being interrupted while speaking, “fine,” she snapped into the phone. “See you tomorrow then.” There was a slamming noise and the dial tone sounded.
“G-good night...” Yugi whispered to no one, putting the phone back into the charger and turning back to his suitcase.
He was still slightly offended that Anzu had called him poor. He looked around his small room. The light blue star and moon patterned wallpaper was peeling, evidence that it had not been re done since Sugoruko took the boy in about fourteen years ago. There was little furniture in the room; only a twin sized bed with a plain yellow quilted cover and also a nightstand next to it. A mirror was hung on the opposite side of the room with a counter underneath it to hold some knickknacks and some clothes and right next to it was a small closet. He sighed. He always thought him and his grandfather to be pretty fine money wise. //I-I guess we aren’t—oh what am I doing? I can’t be thinking about this now I have to finish packing!//
Pushing the ugly thoughts out of his mind, he turned to his closet and pulled out a pair of black pants. Smiling, he folded them and placed them in the suitcase. //Just don’t think about what she said. I’m sure she didn’t mean it...yeah she didn’t mean it really. She was just joking around, I bet!// Feeling better now, his mood brightened and he was able to finish packing with high spirits and a positive attitude.
~~~`
Yugi looked around nervously, trying to find Yami in the large crowd of students. He stood on his tiptoes, trying to see over the heads of the much taller students of the school. He spotted Anzu talking to some of her friends on the dance and cheerleading squads. Next to her was a ditzy blonde girl named Ednold. She was the brunette’s new ski partner since Yami turned her down before. (Shadow: I couldn’t think of a name so...Ednold is just blonde spelled backwards ^^;)
Ednold fully lived up top the stereotype of a blonde. She was bubbly, perky, a ditz, and of course, the bed toy of all the jocks.
Anzu didn’t turn and wave to him as she noticed him approach. She was still quite angry at having to lodge up with Ednold instead of Yami, even if the blonde was one of her best friends.
Yugi sighed when he realized he wasn’t going to be greeted by the girl and turned in a different direction. He then saw Yami standing next to Bakura Hideyoshi, a white haired trouble maker at Domino High. Next to Bakura was his boyfriend Ryou Ishtar and Ryou’s fraternal twin brother, Malik Ishtar. Marik Nagasawa, Malik’s boyfriend was there as well, trying to cram some homemade explosives into his duffel bag. (Shadow: ^^; I can just see Marik bringing hand made mini-bombs onto a ski trip...causing avalanches and other people’s deaths...yeah that is so Marik...)
Yugi approached slowly, moving his hands back and forth in the air to try and catch the taller tri-haired teen’s attention. When the red eyed male saw him there, he grinned, beckoning the small boy over.
“Yugi I was wondering when you were going to arrive.”
The short boy smiled, feeling his heart flutter again. //Why-why does he make me feel so...so giddy?//
Ryou smiled kindly, “hey, Yugi. I didn’t know you were coming on the ski trip.”
The violet eyed teen laughed nervously, “heh—yeah it was a tight pinch in the budget for my grandfather and I but-but we managed.”
The white haired teen nodded, “same here. Malik and I had to save every last penny up for this trip, and we almost didn’t even have enough.”
Yugi heard Anzu’s words from the other day echo in his ears.
//“The kid’s clothes say enough; he’s poorer than you are, Yugi; and that is saying something, believe me”//
He shook his head to make the voice go away, looking back into the chocolate orbs of Ryou. HE stood silently for a moment, just staring up at the taller boy.
Bakura glared down at Yugi, “why are you looking at him like that?! Is there something wrong with him? Do you think you are better than him” he spat.
Yugi whirled around, bringing his hands up defensively, “no! No! I like Ryou – I don’t think I’m better than him it’s just that, well...”
“Just that what?! You think you are too good to be polite? You think because just because you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth that you have to degrade others?!”
The shorter’s eyes widened, “No! I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth, I wasn’t!”
“Are you calling Ryou poor?!”
“No! Just listen to me! I didn’t mean to get you angry...I just have a lot on my mind.”
Malik stepped over and put an arm on Bakura’s shoulder, “hey—buddy, relax mae die didn’t even say anything.”
Bakura growled and stormed away.
Yugi, with still wide eyes, scooted over to the safety of Yami. The red eyed teen grinned, “you have to learn not to listen to anything Bakura says,” he explained.
“You-you two are good friends?”
Yami nodded, “he was the first person here I met. Sure, he was a little psychotic but we got along pretty well.”
“How do you know Marik?”
Yami sighed, “Well...he used to live back in Egypt with me. He was my neighbor. We were close friends...the best of friends, you could say.”
Yugi fidgeted, “did you two ever...” he stopped and blushed.
Yami smirked, “did we ever what? Get together?” He nodded to his own question, “yeah we did,” he chuckled, “he was my first kiss. We didn’t really work out though, since he had to move here so early...”
The small boy looked down, “o-oh...well I’m sorry it didn’t work out.”
The taller waved it off, “ah, I don’t think I really loved him. It was...uh...experimental I guess you could say. I’m glad he’s with Malik; he seems happier.”
“I see...”
Before anyone could say another word, the principal clicked on a megaphone and announced that buses were now boarding students whose last names began with A through E.
Yami sighed, “Well we have a little waiting to do,” he mused.
The six teenage boys waited until the first bus filled up. The principal then announced that students whose last names began with F through J could board the busses.
“Well, that’s us,” Ryou confirmed. He linked arms with Bakura and proceeded in the direction of the large light blue painted vehicles. Malik followed them silently.
~~~`
Eventually, Yugi and Yami went aboard the buses. Marik went with them, since his last name started with N. Unfortunately for the taller of the tri-haired boys, Anzu got on this bus as well. The brunette smiled and walked over to where the violet and red eyed teens were seated. She elbowed Yugi out of the way and situated herself right next to Yami. Yugi, who was on the isle bench and pushed to the far corner of the seat, fell into the center of the bus. He yelped slightly and picked himself up when no one offered him a hand.
The small boy looked at Anzu who was leaning extra close to Yami, fluttering her eyelashes and giggling like mad. Yami was trying to distance himself as far as possible from the flirtatious girl.
Seeing the only other empty seat was next to Marik, since nobody in their right mind would sit next to him unless it was the only place left, he sighed and approached timidly. “U-uh...Marik can I sit here?”
The sandy haired boy growled, “No it’s taken.”
“By who?”
The pale haired boy chuckled and rested his back against the window. He propped his legs up on the bench and smirked, “me. Now sit on the floor, where you belong.”
The violet eyed youth dejectedly swallowed the sob threatening to escape his lips and did as told, curling himself next to Marik’s bench and silently waiting for the bus ride to end. The bus started and rolled out of the school parking lot, heading north in the direction of Kage* mountain.
After a few moments, he felt another presence at his side. The small teen look up and felt a smile tug at his lips, “Yami what are you doing?” he questioned.
“Keeping you company. We’re partners throughout this, don’t forget.” He winked playfully, “you’re stuck with me whether you like it or not!”
Yugi giggled, “Oh I don’t think I mind at all...” //]—wait what was that supposed to mean?! That sounded so weird...I like Yami but that made me sound like I _like_ liked him!//
“Let’s get a new seat. The floor is cold.”
Yugi grinned and nodded. He watched as Yami stood, walking over to Marik and picking him up by the collar, “stop being a bastard,” he whispered into the blonde’s ears before moving him down the isle and placing him next to Anzu who glared at the both of them.
Yami then walked back to Yugi, lifted him onto the bench and sat down next to him. Yugi giggled and timidly scooted over, resting his head onto Yami’s shoulder. When the taller didn’t say anything, he closed his eyes and smiled contentedly.
~~~`
The bus ride passed quickly after that. When the students arrived at the lodge, they were instructed to all go to their rooms and get settled. Then they were free to do as they pleased for the rest of the evening. Activities would begin the next morning, starting at seven for those early bird who wanted to get a jump start on the action.
Bakura, Malik, Marik and Ryou stood in a long hallway, waiting for Yami and his partner to get their bags and meet them up there. After a few minutes, the two spiky haired teens arrived. Yami formally introduced Yugi to Bakura and Marik since he knew the twins from choir already.
“Enough chit chat! I want to get a room with a balcony! Let’s go Marik!” Malik whined, grabbing the blonde by the ear and pulling him down the hallway.
Bakura grumbled something to Ryou and followed the two psychotic blonde boys down the hallway. “Well excuse us then. See you tomorrow,” the shorter white haired teen said, bowing politely before leaving.
Yami turned to his small look-a-like, “well then I guess we should get our room too.” Yugi nodded in agreement. “Room 669. Cool, the top floor!” he exclaimed happily, leading the way to the elevators.
The short teen cringed inwardly, “t-the topmost top floor? That top floor?”
“The highest of the lot!”
//Great. Just my luck.//
~~~`
“Wow! It’s so big! It’s as large as me and my grandfather’s room together! With even room to spare!”
Yami watched as Yugi examined the room, running over to the bathroom and opening the door, giggling, “wow it’s so big and fancy!”
“It’s just a toilet and a sink, Yugi.”
The violet eyed boy shook his head, “but it’s so much better than the one at my house...Well...everything is better than my house...I’m not exactly the richest person.”
Yami chuckled. “Oh nobody but Seto Kaiba can brag about money coming out of their ass, Yugi.” The small boy giggled at this statement, knowing that was very well a fact. The two of them walked over to the window. Yami opened the door and stepped onto the balcony, looking over the mountainside and seeing a small frozen lake beneath some tall trees. He turned to look behind his shoulder, “come on, Yugi. We have a great view and you’re missing out by standing all the way back there,” he said.
Yugi shook his head, stepping back and clutching the small cherry wood table near the sliding window/door. “Th-that’s okay I can see just fine from back here.”
The taller rolled his eyes, clutching the rail of the balcony and hopping up. He balanced his tall frame on the small railing and grinned at the shorter boy, “it’s perfectly safe, see?” he held his hands up, showing the other teen that he was okay and not hurt at all.
Yugi’s eyes widened as he took a step forward; “get down from there! You’re going to get hurt.”
“Aw, you’re no fun, Yugi,” Yami whined.
“That’s not true—I am fun! I just don’t want to see you killed.”
“I’m not going to get hurt.”
Yugi whimpered, “Please Yami; it’s a long way down from there....”
Yami smirked and hopped off the railing, “you’re afraid of heights?”
The small boy hung his head, nodding slowly. “Ever since I was little...when my mother and I lived in a two story house in Tokyo, we were still unpacking. My mother’s room had a balcony just like this one. It was unfinished, and the railing was only half up. I was curious and leaned over the side with the loose rail and fell. I had to go to the emergency room and ended up with a broken leg and arm. That’s why I don’t want to go on that balcony...I don’t want the same thing to happen to me, and especially not to you.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry.”
“It isn’t you’re fault.”
Yami stepped off the balcony and back into the room. Yugi was looking the other way, feeling slightly embarrassed about the story. His eyes widened as two strong, warm arms encircled his waist and hoisted him up in the air. “H-Hey—Yami—what are you do-doing?!”
“Well, you’re scared to fall, right?” The little one nodded against Yami’s chest. “Then I will hold you so you won’t be afraid.”
The small boy blushed lightly, hiding his face in the black leather coat Yami wore to keep it from showing.
The red eyed teen held the other close, tucking the small boy’s head underneath his neck and stroking the soft hair back in a soothing manner. He leaned over the rail, grinning as he saw two familiar albino boys on the balcony beneath and to the right of theirs. He chuckled, seeing the white haired teens lip-locked. “Looks like we’re close to Bakura and Ryou’s room,” he pointed out.
Yugi looked down and his eyes widened slightly. He then sniggered lightly at the sight. “They’re so...open about it...”
“Well why shouldn’t they be? They love each other, so why not show it?”
The short boy frowned, “I know that, but aren’t they afraid of what others might think?”
Yami laughed heartily, “Bakura doesn’t care what anyone thinks of him. And as for Ryou, he believes that love knows no gender and that if anyone has a problem with him loving another male then, and this is in his words, ‘they can bite my bony British ass’.”
Yugi broke out into a fit of giggles at the last statement. His little body shook so hard from laughter that Yami had to set him down on the ground. Even still, the little one kept laughing.
The taller teen chuckled, staring down at the petite youth with amusement shining in his crimson orbs. He still couldn’t believe how innocent and cute Yugi was. He felt that strange tingling feeling course through his body as like the other day when Yugi touched his chest. //Could I really like him like that?//
It was so strange. He didn’t like feeling this way...he didn’t like being confused about his emotions. He didn’t like not being in control of his own ways of thinking. Yami shook his head, noticing Yugi prance back into their room. He smiled slightly walking in as well and closing the door behind him to keep the chilly air out of the heated room.
The little one scampered over and flumped ungracefully onto the queen sized bed. Yami crawled in next to him, still grinning, “it wasn’t so scary now was it?”
“The balcony? Well...no, it wasn’t...but still...I don’t want to go out on one alone ever.”
Yami chuckled, “well don’t worry, you won’t have to. I’ll make sure of it; Aibou,” he winked and yawned loudly.
Yugi giggled, “Someone is sleepy.”
“Yes because someone had to be a certain someone else’s pillow throughout the whole trip up here.”
The small teen blushed, “you-you could have told me to move...I’m sorry.”
The red eyed teen shook his head, “I was only kidding. It’s getting late that’s all. Even if I had slept a little on the bus, my legs are cramped and the ride would have still been just as long.”
“I-I guess....I’m sorry anyways. You probably would have been better off with Anzu as your partner,” the little one said sadly.
“No!” Yami cried. He tilted Yugi’s face up to meet his, “no,” he repeated. “I asked you to be my Aibou for a reason. I don’t like Anzu...but I like you...I like you a whole lot...” //Maybe more than I should.// “I chose you because of that; because I really, really, _really_ like you.”
The small boy didn’t know what to say. He looked up into Yami’s eyes, which had now darkened to a wine red and were lazily half lidded.
//Oh my Ra my feelings are way to strong to hold back. I don’t want to do something I’ll regret but...but I can’t keep myself from doing it because I really, really want it...I want to kiss him so bad...//
Before Yugi could open his mouth to say that maybe Yami should go to sleep, he was lying back down on the bed with some 115 pounds* of seventeen year old boy on top of him and warm lips covering his own. He gasped, feeling the other’s tongue lick his lips lightly. Yami’s tongue took the opportunity to plunge into Yugi’s mouth and explore the moist cavern and drink up the maple syrupy flavor of the boy.
Tears formed in Yugi’s as he squirmed underneath the taller. It was hopeless as his small body was crushed underneath Yami’s. So he cried silently as the other kissed him, all the while wondering why Yami was doing this and trying to decipher why he thought the kiss felt so nice.

*Kage: Shadow (Hey I couldn’t think of a name for the mountain...so I just used my Japanese penname...^^;)
*115 pounds: Yami, from what information I got, is only 105 pounds which makes him sound like anorexic and WAY to skinny. So, I added ten pounds to him!! And, just in case anyone cares, Yugi is 90 pounds underneath him ^_^

The bus ride passed quickly after that. When the students arrived at the lodge, they were instructed to all go to their rooms and get settled. Then they were free to do as they pleased for the rest of the evening. Activities would begin the next morning, starting at seven for those early bird who wanted to get a jump start on the action.
Bakura, Malik, Marik and Ryou stood in a long hallway, waiting for Yami and his partner to get their bags and meet them up there. After a few minutes, the two spiky haired teens arrived. Yami formally introduced Yugi to Bakura and Marik since he knew the twins from choir already.
“Enough chit chat! I want to get a room with a balcony! Let’s go Marik!” Malik whined, grabbing the blonde by the ear and pulling him down the hallway.
Bakura grumbled something to Ryou and followed the two psychotic blonde boys down the hallway. “Well excuse us then. See you tomorrow,” the shorter white haired teen said, bowing politely before leaving.
Yami turned to his small look-a-like, “well then I guess we should get our room too.” Yugi nodded in agreement. “Room 669. Cool, the top floor!” he exclaimed happily, leading the way to the elevators.
The short teen cringed inwardly, “t-the topmost top floor? That top floor?”
“The highest of the lot!”
//Great. Just my luck.//
