A New Love?
Nazo no Kisu (Mysterious Kiss) - Extended Version
Welcome readers to the 40th chapter of Nazo no Kisu! I really really hope everyone is loving the story to
date! As we left off, Atemu was going into 'hibernation' for a week. In today's chapter, Yugi gets his POV
duties back and Atemu has returned back to Domino City.
Chapter 40: A New Love?
It's been 7 months since we last had a real conversation. One that didn't end with us arguing. Or in his
words, 'me walking out'. That's the way I want it. He had no business allowing Jounouchi to do those
things to him! No matter how hard his dick was!
Speaking of Jounouchi, I haven't been talking to him either. Not since I found out about him and Atemu.
He came back, apologizing. I forgave you once, but twice?! I don't think so!
Last time I saw that yarou was at the Invitiational Tournament in July. Do you think I spoke to him? HELL
NO! I'm so glad that I didn't have to duel against him!
Does he deserve it?
It's January and Atemu's back in town. This I do know. Believe me, he is.
I've been seeing him with Karim a lot. Maybe he's just left me alone and gone back to someone who loves
him. Maybe more than me.
I don't care. As long as he's happy. Wait. I shouldn't care. But why do I feel so jealous?!
Lately, I've been working in the shop since graduation. Take advantage of me since I'm free now. Really
free.
"Yugi? I need you to go by the Post Office to pick up this package." dad says as he hands me a card.
"Show them this when you get there."
"Hai." I say rather lazily before grabbing my keys and hopping into my car.
I drive slowly to the post office, taking an entirely out-of-drive route past Domino Pier.
Why did I go this way? I don't know. I pass by an all-too-familiar two story home that faces Domino
Pier and the Sea of Japan.
Something directs my attention to the pier and the spot that Atemu and I took our first picture together,
the picture that still is in my car to this day...
*SKRRRRCH*
Atemu?! Who is that?!
No...
Karim.
Why are they so close together like that?! It should be me!
I continue to sit and watch the two as they constantly flirt with each other. Imagining how Atemu and
I used to flirt like that. How he used to mind-link with me, how he used to make me turn the same
color as the tips of my hair.
I miss those days.
No.
It won't change the fact that he cheated...
*VRRROOOM*
I speed to the Post Office as fast as I can and pick up the package. When I get back home, dad is
sitting behind the counter, looking at me as if I had grown 8 heads.
"About time you got back here. I thought I had to come and look for you."
"Gomen, otou-chan. There were a lot of people there." I say placing the box on the counter.
Must be a new booster. It from Industrial Illusions, USA. What else does Pegasus-kun send?
"Put those on the counter. These are the new Elite Duelist Booster Packs. It has all the key cards
from the 64 duelists in WIT. I think yours is Black Magician. Or maybe it was that card Atemu gave
you...Magician's Secret Power?"
Tsch. Always bringing up Atemu.
"Oh, sorry about that..."
"It's ok dad, really it is." I say placing the boosters on the counter.
I hand dad 500 Yen and grab a booster pack.
"Keep the change." I say opening the pack and going into the house.
"I will." he says putting the money into the register.
I take out the 9 cards. What do I have here?
Shadow Ghoul: Rebecca Hopkins. Guardian Grarl: Rafael Chekov. Blue-Eyes White Dragon: Seto Kaiba.
God Ogruss: Ryuji Otogi. Red-Eyes Black Dragon: Jounouchi Katsuya. Gravity Armour: Varon Turner.
Ouija Board: Akefia Nakumon. Black Magician:Yugi Mutou. Finally, Magician's Secret Power...
*Ding ding*
Someone's in the shop... I peek in the door to see...them. Atemu and Karim...Together. Talking.
Laughing.
I watch as they go immediately to the new boosters and pick up about 10 packs and pay for them. They
go to one of the newly installed dueling tables and sit across from each other. They take about half of the
packs and open them. I guess when they get to certain cards, they show them to each other.
They eventually end up dueling. I guess Karim doesn't know much about dueling. It looks as if Atemu's
playing more of a teaching game than a serious duel.
He suddenly looks in my direction and Karim and my father disappear...
Not this....
'I see you there.'
'Get out of my head Atemu!'
'Do you forgive me?'
'I have no reason to!'
'Well, why are you watching me like a hawk?'
'I'm not!'
'I saw you earlier when Karim and I were sitting on the pier. You don't think after all this time I don't
know your car?'
'Out of my head Atemu!'
'If you really want me out, then you know how to block me.'
'Shut up!'
'Listen to me Aibou. Karim and I aren't like that.'
'And why are you explaining this to me?? I could care less if he is fucking you or not.'
'Listen Aibou! Karim and I are just...'
'La la la la la! Save it!'
I turn around and walk off, blocking him completely. I sit on the sofa and lay my cards on the table. I
pick up my deck and take out 'Magician's Secret Power'. Secret Rare... I look at the booster pack
'Magician's Secret Power'. Ultra Rare.
Guess I'll give Atemu back his card, since I now have one of my own.
The door to the game shop opens.
"Yugi? Atemu was just in here with some other male."
I give dad a bad look, but not one bad enough to get myself smacked.
"Well, I get the point." he says. "Who was it? Is he from Egypt also? His skin is tanned like Atemu's and
he has straight black hair."
"Karim." I mutter.
"Who? Is he the one Atemu is with now?"
"I guess dad. I guess. I don't know. I no longer keep up with Atemu. Don't have a reason to."
"Ohhh....ok. They're gone now if you want to go back into the shop."
"Nah, I'll go back in later. I have something to do." I say gathering the cards and going upstairs to my
room.
(One Week Later)
I love inventory days. It means a day that the shop isn't open and I get an off day!
Well, actually it's not off, it's just okaa-san, otou-san, jii-chan and I counting what we have and don't
have in the shop. It's usually quick. Takes about an hour or so. Went even quicker when Atemu was
here helping...
Atemu?! Why am I bringing him up?!
I'm jealous. I know that I am. But I will never admit it to him. I'm jealous that he's with someone else. I'm
jealous that he's not with me. Sometimes it makes me wish I had never met Atemu Ikhras.
"Yugi? Are you ok?" jii-chan asks, snapping me from my thoughts.
"Hai. I am. Was just thinking about WIT coming up this summer." I reply.
"You know I know you better than that."
"Well jii-chan, I have to always be mentally prepared for whoever comes to take my title away from me."
"Yugi, you have another 5 months. WIT isn't until June. Now, tell me what's wrong. Is it about Atemu?
Are you jealous of him?"
"Jealous?! Me?! HA! Why should I be?!"
"Because he's moved on."
"If he could so easily move on, then we weren't meant to be in the first place." I say finishing my count
and leaving jii-chan in the stock room.
I grab my keys from the wall and walk to Domino Pier. As I pass Atemu's home to walk onto the pier
I see them...together in the yard.
What else could be going on between them? Karim and Atemu were together long before he ever
thought I even existed. Of course it's natural for him to return to his first love and lover.
Am I crying? Why? Atemu cheated on me with Jounouchi. It should be him crying, not me. I should
be the one with the smile on my face, content that I could walk away from a cheater.
A cheater that I'm madly in love with...
