Werewolf Love

“Yugi, did you hear? A large wolf attacked someone then ran away!” Anzu shouted, wanting to spread the word as fast as possible. Yugi and his two friends froze. ‘No, Yami!’ Yugi thought, realizing the werewolf had lost control without Yugi by his side, just as Yami had feared.
Seeing Yugi’s petrified look of worry, Anzu assumed she had him good and scared. ‘Too easy,’ she thought and continued, “I think the wolf just killed the guy for the fun of it and ran off because it wasn’t hungry.”
Yugi’s fearful expression turned to one of anger in an instant, and he turned on Anzu. “Do you DARE stick your nose into things you know nothing about! That wolf might not have been able to control himself, and ran away out of fear and regret for what he had done! Now, you leave us alone!” Yugi roared, shocking not only Anzy, but Jou and Honda too. Yugi grabbed the two friends. “Let’s go, guys.”
The petite teen dragged off his two taller friends, who were still stunned at Yugi’s sudden boldness. Anzu stared at their retreating backs in shock. Only when the three were out of sight did she recover and the full weight of Yugi’s words set in. ‘So, Yugi knows this wolf, which means he’s either keeping an illegal pet, or is close friends with some sort of werewolf. Interesting,’ she mused, smirking as she thought up and evil plan to teach the kid not to talk back ever again.

Yugi, Honda, and Jou ran to the park where they were stopped by uniformed officers. “I’m sorry, but we’ve received word that there’s a dangerous animal in this park, and we can’t let anyone in until it’s caught,” one police officer said, turning them away. Yugi had begun to panic now. If they caught Yami in the condition he was in, it would end badly for both sides.
Yugi pulled his friends into an alley so that they could devise a plan. Yugi began to suggest something, but before he could get two words out, Jou cut him off. “Yug, ya wanna know why Seto calls me a mutt all the time?” he asked. Yugi nodded. “It’s cause I am, but I don’ like him announcin’ it, so I get angry. Yami’s not the only were-animal in Domino. I’m a were-canine, different from a werewolf. My kind had been around humans so long, our wolf halves are tamed like dogs are. I can help sniff out Yami with my canine form.”
Honda and Yugi stared at Jou in shock, not able to believe THIS tall tale until they saw it. Shrugging his shoulders, Jou easily transformed into a dog resembling a Golden Retriever, except it still had Jou’s goofy haircut on the top of its head. Honda snorted, but Yugi elbowed him in the ribs to make him stop. Jou sniffed the air until he caught a faint whiff of Yami’s scent, barking at the other two to follow him.
Yugi and Honda looked at each other and decided that things could be worse before taking off after Jou to find the wayward werewolf. Seto watched the trio run off from the window of his limo. ‘So the mutt’s revealed himself to them. Guess I should go help too,’ he thought, ordering the driver to drop him off just out of town.
