~~

The snow fell from the sky in buckets drenching Domino in more white powder then it needed. Domino was a large city and the whole city was covered in snow. So far it proved to be only one of a few places in Japan to be hit with the freak storm.

Jounouchi looked out the window with a sigh, not a single soul was in sight. Usually there were people all over the place but now it was as if Domino was slowly being wiped off the map. Sure it was fun to play in the snow, but the weather was way too cold to even step outside in five layers of clothing let alone play in it.

It had been a week since Jounouchi and Seto had crashed at Yugi’s house. Within the week Jounouchi had declined from food more and often spent time sleeping or staring out the window. Once or twice Yugi would catch him crying or snuggling up with KC calling him Seto.

“… Ya know… I tink I’m startin’ ta hate de snow” Jounouchi mumbled to Seto who nodded in agreement both of them had been silent for the past hour and it was nearing noon. A growl finally interrupted the silence as both of them glanced down at their bellies. As of late Jounouchi ignored the call of food and remained where he was looking at all the snow with an unreadable expression on his face.

Seto on the other hand hadn’t eaten since yesterday and hopped off the chair towards the kitchen. Solomon was there reading the paper while eating a sandwich with a glass of milk to wash it down.

A tiny mew interrupted the elder man as he stared down at Seto who was looking at him with those impatient blue eyes. Solomon laughed and got up to grab a little saucer and poured some milk onto it before giving it to Seto who quickly lapped it up. Solomon’s eyes bugged out a little at the rate Seto inhaled the milk.

“Hmn, he must have picked it up from Jounouchi” Solomon grumbled to himself as he placed a little more for Seto to drink.

“I guess I’ll have to talk to that boy about taking care of baby animals” he said to himself, more or less patting him-self on the back for thinking of such a brilliant idea. Once Seto was finished he bounded back to Jounouchi leaving the old man grumbling to him-self again.

Jounouchi stopped glaring at the snow when Seto returned to him, washing the remainder of milk from his face. It was then when Solomon came into the room while clearing his throat.

“Jounouchi I shouldn’t have to tell you that you need to take better care of your kitten when was the last time you fed him?” Solomon questioned causing Jou to look down guiltily. He was so busy thinking of Seto and all of the crazy snow that he completely forgot about taking care of KC.

“Uh, yesterday afte’ noon?” Jounouchi told him meekly shocking the old man. Before Jou knew it, Solomon was yelling at him on how important it was that he keeps his pets safe and well nurtured that included going to the bathroom and feeding on a regular basis. After Jounouchi was able to hear again he simply nodded in understanding; not wanting to upset the elder man anymore.

After Solomon left to go back to his sandwich Yugi bounded down the stairs happily carrying the phone with him while he did so.

“Hey Jou guess what?” Yugi said excitedly after hanging the phone up. “Honda was talking to Anzu who talked to Ryou who talked to Malik who sent a text to Ryuuji who spoke to Mai on the internet who has a friend of a friend that knows all about the weather who told her that the snow would be going away in about a month!” he chirped.

Jounouchi slumped ‘another month in waiting?’ he thought to himself miserably. ‘Dat means another month not findin’ Seto… what if he’s dead by de time dey finds him?’ he shook his head to clear that thought from his head completely. Damnit he was going to be with the sexy brunette and he would finally have his stupid happy ending.

“Jou?” Yugi asked concerned for his friend wondering just why the blonde wasn’t as excited as he was.

“Why do de happy endin’s have ta come at de end of de story?” he mumbled quietly Yugi frowned and moved to hug his friend when a deep hiss stopped him. Seto’s hair was on end and apparently he wasn’t going to let Yugi hurt HIS puppy any longer. Since coming there Yugi didn’t help at all to bring Jounouchi back from his slump.

‘BACK OFF MOUTO YOU’VE DONE ENOUGH DAMAGE!’ Seto hissed out taking a few swipes at Yugi who held his hands up in defense. A large golden hand gently swept through the fur smoothing it down. Seto wasn’t sure why it made him so calm, perhaps it was because it made Jou a little bit calmer as well.

“…I tink I’ll go fer a walk” Jou mumbled gently setting Seto on the ground before heading to the door Seto on his heels. Yugi was about to protest before the door closed gently, he slumped down lightly on the couch with a sigh knowing that Jounouchi was getting himself into danger and that he was doing it for love.

Seto ran after Jounouchi partly because Jounouchi was at least fifteen times bigger then he was and the snow was really, really cold. It was a good thing he had so much energy from resting and actually eating that afternoon as well as three meals each day earlier in the week. After ten minutes or so Jounouchi actually stopped by the pond that of course was frozen over. Seto was glad that he was finally able to catch his breath and sat by Jounouchi’s feet panting lightly while shivering.

The expression on Jounouchi’s face was unreadable as he stared out at the empty pond. A small sigh escaped the taller ones lips as if there was something out there that he just couldn’t reach. Before Seto knew it Jounouchi was out on the pond lightly skating around with just his shoes on. Seto panicked knowing the dangers of skating on ponds such as this and ran after Jou. As soon as he caught up he tried to stop but just ended up sliding right past the blonde.

As soon as he did manage to stop Seto stood up slowly and looked down at his reflection on in the frozen water. It was his human form staring back at him. He continued to stare at himself not even noticing that Jounouchi was leaving without him. By the time he looked away the blonde was gone and now he was all alone with only his reflection and the frigid weather.

“JOU!!!!” Seto wailed scaring a few birds from the trees from the frantic mews coming from his mouth. Panicking Seto ran towards the snow to at least get off the ice but before he could the strange wind returned and pushed him towards the snow where one of the fortunes sat waiting for him.

“Speech will return to you when you find HOME” Seto read and growled, scampering off in search for Jounouchi.

After running for a few minutes he stopped and slowed to a walk trying to catch his breath. He needed to find someone who knew to take him back to Jounouchi anyone, even if it was that stupid friendship freak Anzu. But it seemed his pondering at the pond that mysteriously popped up out of no where made him lose the blonde. No one however dared to venture in this kind of frigid weather.

Looking up at all the buildings made Seto feel utterly small and useless. He was so used to looking down at people and other companies he’d forgotten what if felt like to actually be small and insignificant. Sure he was a prick to people… all the time but it didn’t mean he didn’t have a soft spot… most people just annoyed him.

But that didn’t seem to stop Seto at the moment. He had to find Jounouchi or he’d have even less of a chance to survive in the cold. The closer he got away from the pond the closer he felt he was to Jounouchi. Then it struck him, there were only one set of tracts besides his in the snow.

His small heart pounded rapidly in his chest, blindly beating against his ribcage. It hurt yes, but for Jounouchi… to be snuggled up in his arms it was worth it. Seto was so focused on getting back to Jounouchi he didn’t realize that the two of them shared something exactly the same instead of their normal Yin-Yang pattern. It took a loss to see something beautiful … he loved Jounouchi and figured he always had and yet it didn’t seem to surprise him. The feelings of growing, he’d already grown. Or when he’d snuck glances at Jou, they’d already been there like a record well played.

If Seto would have taken time to look back at his tracts in all his thoughts he would have noticed that instead of four little kitty paws, there were two shoeless prints beside Jounouchi’s sneakered feet. And soon the pair stopped where Jounouchi was currently sitting on a ledge looking down at the water.

“Puppy, that’s not good” Seto mumbled to him, he jolted when he noticed Jou jump slightly at least he had a good grip on the railing.

“Aww, KC I tought dat you was at Yug’s, ya stinke’ ya scared meh” Jounouchi said rubbing his chest lightly. Jounouchi swung his legs around and got back onto the ground safely picking Seto up as he did so.

“Let’s go home huh?” Jounouchi asked lightly as he placed Seto into his jacket frowning at how cold the little guy was. Looking up into the sky Jou noticed that it was getting rather dark, pretty fast and that if he didn’t hurry home he was going to be one frozen pup-cicle.

The walk home was a lot slower then usual but Jounouchi was busy looking at all the scenery, like Christmas lights people had left up. IT was as if December had never passed at all and that the next day would be bringing Santa clause and crappy reruns of old Christmas movies. But it was late February heading into spring; there should be cherry tree blossoms in the air. But they were all dead or at least sleeping until the snow went away.

Jounouchi in all his absent wanderings had led him to a home he hadn’t been to in a long while. It was Tristan’s and Jounouchi knew that they’d be home watching some game show and eating microwave dinners. With a sigh he went and knocked on the door wondering if they’d even be able to hear him or not.

Tristan opened the door slowly dark circles under hazel-green eyes. But through the midst of his tiredness he still managed a smile for an old friend.

“Jou, what brings you out here?” he asked before stepping out of the way to let Jou inside the warm house.

“Well I was in de neighbor hood an’ I thought dat I’d come an’ see ya” Jounouchi told him grabbing Seto from his jacket and placing him on the ground.

“Cool. So uh how’ve ya been? I haven’t seen you since your dad got kicked out of the old apartment and moved way out there” Tristan mumbled, obviously upset that Jounouchi had been forced to move further away.

Jou nodded sure there was school but with the snow, no one went anymore. Jou went and sat down on the couch with a sigh, it was nice and warm. Seto followed Jounouchi and climbed up the couch to sit next to him.

“Hey have you seen the news on Kaiba? It’s been playing for a good while now” Tristan mumbled sitting next to Jou being careful not to hurt Seto who looked at him curiously just as Jounouchi was.

“Na, I've been out in dat hell-hole for a good while” Jou mumbled reaching for the remote quickly his interest peaked. Tristan beat him to it and switched the t.v. on flipping to a news channel.

“Damn man calm down” Tristan mumbled knowing full well that Jounouchi had long since had a major crush on the icy CEO. The weather soon finished with more snow then it had planned earlier.

“Our top story tonight, CEO Kaiba Seto has been reported missing for several days” the newscaster started out staring at the camera. To the right of the screen a picture of the brunette babe was posted causing a certain blonde to sigh.

“Experts say that Kaiba met an early grave and has most likely will be found frozen dead in the snow” the lady continued on still.

“However some are to believe that the Boy Toy Multi-Billionaire vanished to get away for the winter, a reward will be given to anyone with information on his exact whereabouts” she told the camera, Mokuba’s cell phone number flashed across the bottom of the screen obviously he wanted to be the one to be notified first.

Tristan switched the t.v. off; both Seto and Jounouchi were left scowling at the darkened screen. Jounouchi looked over at Tristan who said nothing in return.

“…Well man it’s getting late so why don’t you crash here for tonight?” Tristan mumbled feeling rather awkward that there was such silence between two usually very talkative friends.

“Uh…yeah tanks so much man” Jou mumbled messing up Tristan’s fin headed hair. Tristan scowled and worked his hair back into its fin shape.

“You know it takes me a while to do this do man” Tristan grumbled causing Jou to laugh. It felt good to relax and not have to think about anything if only for a moment. Soon Tristan yawned and excused himself, bidding Jounouchi good night.

Jounouchi looked out the large window in the living room. The snow cascaded down rather gently where they were at, making it seem very serene and beautiful. But the snow was far from perfect, it was quite deadly and with the thoughts of the t.v. news reporter Jounouchi’s head was once again plagued with thoughts of Seto his body the same color as his eyes.

“I shouldn’t tink like dat” Jou scolded himself, with a sigh he got up to grab an electric blanket and plugged it in before settling down on the couch. Seto waited until Jou lay down before snuggling underneath the blankets with him. Soon enough the heater started to take its effect and the two were nice and cozy warm. Both Seto and Jou were out quickly the extreme warmth a very welcomed comfort to fall asleep to.

Something however, would come as an unexpected surprise later that night.
