Project: Destiny
Chapter Four
by Ravenx
The aroma of fresh cooking eggs fills the large forest green kitchen, the sounds of bacon sizzling joins the quiet talking in the room. A tall tri-colored haired boy stands in black leather pants and a sleeveless black shirt in front of the stove, one hand holding a large black, firm plastic spatula while his other holds the handle to a large metal frying pan. A smaller tri-colored haired boy sits on the black counter near the stovetop, his short legs swinging below him to gently tap at the cabinet he is sitting on.
A tall sandy blonde leans against the island in front of the stove, his elbows resting on the hard black top, his honey colored eyes watching the taller boy cook. His dark blue jeans cling tightly to his slim legs, his fingers pulling absently at the light gray, short sleeved shirt hanging loosely on his upper body.
“I’m just wondering what’s wrong with what I’m wearing.” Joey speaks up.
“I’ve told you a hundred times, Joey, this is a romantic dinner. You are supposed to be dressed nicely, not like a bum. No offense.” Yugi smiles as his friend.
“Hey! These are some of my best clothes.”
“I wouldn’t tell people that.” Yami mumbles only to be swatted on the arm by his hikari.
“Behave.” Yugi giggles at the false hurt look crossing Yami’s face.
“What smells so good?” A voice asks from the door.
The others look over to see Ryou enter the kitchen, his wet hair hanging loosely over his shoulders and down his back, the white tank top he wears slightly wet around neck and shoulders. His bare feet pad across the cool, hard wood floor, his heels stepping on the bottom of his long, white, cotton pants.
“Yami’s making breakfast. I hope that’s okay, Ryou.” Yugi answers.
“It’s fine. You mean your yami knows how to cook without wrecking the kitchen.” Ryou’s light brown eyes widen slightly.
“Yami is a great cook.”
“Not as good as you, chibi ichi.” Yami winks at his small hikari as he flips a couple over-easy eggs. “What kind of eggs do you want, Ryou?”
“Oh, you don’t have to cook me anything.”
“I don’t mind.”
“Well, how about some scrambled eggs? Enough for me and Bakura?”
“No problem. I’ll start after I’m done with Joey’s and Yugi’s.”
“Thank you, Yami.” Ryou smiles widely at the taller boy as he steps up next to Joey.
“Why are you thanking the Pharaoh?” Another voice enters the kitchen.
Bakura slowly makes his way over to his hikari, his wet hair flat around his head, his bare chest glistening with a little water. His loose black, cotton boxers hang low on his hips as he leans on the island, his dark brown eyes looking around at the others.
“He’s cooking us breakfast.” Joey explains, his honey colored eyes smirking at Bakura’s current state of dress.
“Kura! I told you to put some clothes on.” Ryou whines as he looks over at his lover.
“I did.”
“I meant real clothes. We have guests.”
“This is our house.” Bakura shrugs.
“That is something I never wanted to see.” Yami shivers as he looks over his shoulder to the taller white haired boy.
“Then stop looking, Pharaoh.” Bakura smirks.
“Gladly.” Yami turns back to the stove. “Could you hand me two plates, chibi ichi?”
“Sure.” Yugi smiles widely as he picks up two heavy, dark green plates, several rings of interlocking black and white around the edges.
Yami fills both plates with two eggs each and couple slices of nicely browned bacon before handing them back to Yugi who keeps one and gives the other to Joey. Walking over to the large black refrigerator, Yami grabs a glass from a cabinet over the counter before opening the refrigerator door and taking out the milk and a bag half filled with shredded cheese.
“What do you guys want to drink?” Ryou moves around the island to the refrigerator as Yami goes back to the stove.
“Orange juice, please.” Yugi chirps.
“Same.” Joey says around a mouthful of eggs.
“I want chocolate milk.” A new voice says from the doorway.
Malik smiles at his friends, his long pale blonde hair is in a low pony tail at the nape of his neck, his bangs still slightly spiky. The light purple tank top and pale blue jeans he wears fits loosely on his small frame. He moves into the kitchen and over to stand next to Bakura, his hand swatting the black clad rear end earning him a cute little growl from Ryou.
“Hey! No touchie.” Ryou winks at the pale blonde.
“Ah, possessive.” Malik smirks only to yelp as strong arms wrap around his waist.
“He isn’t the only one.” Marik whispers in his ear.
Malik leans back into the black clad chest of his taller lover, his hands sneaking behind him to rub Marik’s jean covered thighs. Ryou smiles at the couple as he starts to hand out the desired drinks to everyone.
“What do you want Marik?” Ryou moves back to the refrigerator.
“Orange juice.” Marik mumbles into Malik’s pale blonde hair.
“Yami?”
“Orange juice is fine.” Yami looks over his shoulder for a moment before going back to the frying pan.
“You didn’t ask me.” Bakura says around a yawn.
“Cause you always drink orange juice in the morning.” Ryou sticks his tongue out at his yami.
“So, did you two have fun last night?” Malik giggles, his light violet eyes looking from Ryou to Bakura.
“Mal…” Ryou starts only to be interrupted.
“Of course.” Bakura smirks.
“Bakura! Malik, that is…was none of your business.” Ryou blushes handing out the rest of the drinks.
“Then you should be more quiet.” Joey chuckles, a piece of bacon sticking out of his mouth.
“I like it when he screams.” Bakura stands up straighter, his taut stomach muscles stretching slightly.
“Kura!” Ryou’s blush deepens as he shakes his head.
“Why are we up so early?” Marik yawns, his nose twitching as Malik’s hair tickles it.
“It isn’t early, its nine.” Yami fixes a couple more plates, handing them to Bakura and Ryou. “What kind of eggs do you two what?”
“Over-easy for me, really runny and scrambled for Marik.” Malik smiles.
“Nine? That is early.” Marik grunts.
“What time did you guys get up?” Ryou asks as he peppers his eggs.
“Me and Yami were up around eight.” Yugi wipes his mouth with a white napkin.
“I got up when they came down. Not that I wanted to.” Joey mumbles the last part, a smile gracing his smooth face.
“Gomen, Joey.” Yugi blushes slightly.
“What’s with the blushing?” Ryou’s eyes move back and forth between the two boys.
“Let’s just say they woke me up with some moaning close to my ear.” Joey chuckles.
“Details!” Malik smiles.
“No.” Yugi and Yami say at the same time.
“They were messing around when they came downstairs and got a little too serious behind the sofa.”
“Naughty, naughty.” The small pale blonde laughs.
“Shut up.” Yugi whispers, his head lowering.
“Aw, he’s cute when he blushes.” Malik giggles.
“Yami.” Yugi whines.
“Leave him alone.” The taller tri-colored haired boy speaks over his shoulder, a small smile gracing his lips.
“Mmm, these eggs are delicious, Yami.” Ryou says.
“Thank you.”
“I told you Yami was a great cook.” Yugi smiles widely.
“Aren’t they good, Kura?” Ryou elbows his lover in his bare ribs.
“Yeah, yeah, they’re okay.” Bakura mumbles.
“You just can’t stand to give me a compliment, can you?” Yami chuckles as he puts some scrambled eggs on another plate. “Here, Marik.”
“Took you long enough, I’m starved.” The taller pale blonde grumbles as takes the plate being past from Joey.
“Would it kill you to say thank you?” Ryou smiles at the pale blonde yami near him.
“Might.”
“So what are we doing today?” Joey yawns as he moves over to the large metal sink in front of a window over looking the bright back yard.
“Oh, just rinse that off and put it in the dishwasher.” Ryou covers his mouth as he continues to chew on his bacon, he receives a nod from Joey who does as told.
“We need to go to the store and then by our house and Malik’s house.” Yugi says.
“And the florist.” Ryou adds.
“The florist?” Bakura gives his hikari a strange look as he finishes cleaning his plate. “Here, Joey.” The sandy blonde rolls his eyes as he takes the plate from the white haired yami.
“Yes, this is going to be a romantic dinner with candle light and flowers.” Ryou smiles.
“This is going to be fun.” Yugi practically jumps up and down on the counter top as Yami finishes with Malik’s plate, handing it behind him before he starts on his own.
“Easy for you to say. You don’t have to spend the whole day with the Pharaoh.” Bakura mumbles around his glass of orange juice.
“Kura.” Ryou playfully warns as he slides his plate across the island, a sweet smile forming on his lips as he looks over at Joey. “Joey, would you please?”
“Yeah.” Joey sighs, taking the plate to the sink and the dishwasher nestled in the counter to the right of it.
“Are you sure you are going to be okay all day here with these two?” Malik ask Yami around a giggle.
“All day? I thought it would just be for an hour or so.” Yami looks over his shoulder.
“Not with all the places we’re going. Not to mention when we have to pick out nice outfits for you guys.” The smaller white haired boy smiles.
“So how long are we talking about?” The tall tri-colored haired boy cuts off the stove and turns around, his plate in hand as he moves to the other side of his hikari.
“A couple hours probably.” Malik stretches his hands over his head.
“A couple hou…that I didn’t agree on.” Yami says.
“We are in the same room, you know.” Marik growls.
“Aw, shut up you big baby.” Malik rolls his light violet eyes as he walks around the island toward the sink and dishwasher with his plate.
“Let’s get started.” Yugi hops off the counter top.
“We just have to wait until Ryou gets dressed.” Joey leans over the island, his honey eyes staring across at the pale, white haired boy.
“Okay, okay, I’m going.” Sticking out his tongue, Ryou quickly runs out of the kitchen with Bakura right behind him.
“Do you think he will actually get dressed?” The sandy blonde chuckle.
“Maybe after Bakura has some fun with him.” Malik wiggles his eyebrows.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
“Why won’t you guys just tell me who my date is?” Joey whines.
The sandy blonde fidgets on the edge of a queen sized bed, the dark violet comforter with snake skin designs on it is laced through his long, thin fingers. His bare feet rest flat on the cool, hard wood floor, his honey colored eyes trying to peak into a small walk-in closet in front of him.
“Then it wouldn’t be any fun.” Yugi smiles from beside his friend, his short legs kicking above the floor.
“At least if I knew who it was I would know how to dress.”
“What do you mean?” Ryou looks over his shoulder from his place in front of a tall set of drawers, a thick band of gold in his hands.
“Well, if I like this person then I would dress…I don’t know…sexy. But if I didn’t like this person then I would wear what I’m wearing now.”
“You’ll like them.” Yugi reassures.
“How do you know that?”
“I just do.”
“How about this?” Malik exists the closet, a shiny, long sleeved, black shirt on a hanger in his hands.
“I don’t think so.” Joey shakes his head rapidly.
“No.” Yugi agrees.
“Who wears that?” Ryou asks.
“It’s Marik’s. Why?” Malik pouts.
“I just can’t see Marik wearing that.” The white haired boy says.
“Why not? I got it for him for Christmas last year.”
“Does he every wear it?” Joey chuckles.
“Well not out in public but it looks good on him.”
“Yeah, well, let’s try something else.”
Malik pouts again before disappearing back in the closet, the pale light casting slight shadows on the hard wood floors. Ryou moves over to the bed, the thick band of gold still in his hands as he stands next to Joey.
“Try this on.”
“I’m not wearing jewelry.” Joey says.
“Why not?” Ryou takes hold of Joey’s lower arm in his hand, slipping the piece of gold onto his wrist.
“It’s girly.”
“Hey! That’s my jewelry I’ll have you know.” Malik’s agitated voice calls from inside the closet.
“Gomen but I don’t think so.” Joey takes his hand back from Ryou, removing the bracelet and handing it back to the small white haired boy.
“You look good in jewelry.” Yugi says.
“Yes, but not in gold. Maybe white gold.” Ryou nods his head, walking back over to the drawers.
“I don’t have any white gold.” Malik’s muffled voice says.
“I do at home.” Ryou turns back around, his lean frame leaning against the set of drawers.
“Did you not hear me say I’m not wearing any jewelry?” Joey looks from the closet to the white haired boy.
“We heard but that doesn’t mean we are going to listen.” The pale blonde reemerges from the closet with another shirt. “How about this one?”
“That would look great on you, Joey.” Yugi smiles.
“I do kinda like it.” The sandy blonde nods.
“And Bakura has a pair of leather pants that would look amazing with it.” Ryou speaks up.
“Leather?” Joey gulps.
“Yep. Their really tight on him so they will probably be a little loose on you. He’s more muscular than you in the legs.”
“Yeah, you do kinda have skinny legs.” Malik’s light violet eyes look Joey’s long legs up and down.
“You guys all have skinny legs.” Joey subconsciously picks at his jean covered thighs.
“True but we are all smaller than you. It makes sense we have skinny legs.” Yugi hopes off the bed soundlessly.
“Whatever. Are we done?”
“All we have to do is go to the store next.” Ryou smiles.
“Where’s your sister, Malik?” Yugi moves over to the pale blonde as he takes the shirt and looks it over.
“Working.”
“On a Saturday?” Ryou questions.
“Overtime.”
“Is that the only thing she knows who to do? Work?”
“I think so. She spends more time at that dumb museum than at home.” Malik pouts.
“But at least you and Marik get to spend a lot of time together.” Joey stands up off the bed.
“Oh, yeah. We sure do.” Malik purrs.
“Please, no details.” Ryou giggles.
“Can we go to the store now?” Yugi speaks up.
“Why? Are you in a hurry?” The pale blonde looks behind him as they four boys walk out into the long hallway.
“I just don’t want to leave Yami alone with Marik and Bakura long.”
“Are you afraid they might hurt your Pharaoh?” Malik chuckles.
“Well, there is two against one.” Yugi mumbles.
“He’s probably right, we should be getting home soon. I don’t really trust Kura alone with Yami and I don’t even want to think what might happen when you add Marik.” Ryou shivers slightly.
“We’ve only been away for a couple hours.” Malik rolls his eyes as they make it to the front door.
“And whose fault is that?” Joey’s honey colored eyes look to the slightly shorter pale blonde.
“Hey, Ryou was the one that took so long at the florist.”
“And you were the one that almost got us kicked out of the florist.” Ryou reminds his friend.
“I was bored.”
“Quit fighting and let’s hurry. I’m worried about Yami.” Yugi moves quickly down the front steps, leaving his friends to laugh behind him as they follow.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
“We’re back!” Joey yells into the house as he moves through the door, his arms filled with grocery bags.
“Yami! Come and help.” Yugi struggles with several bags, only the top of his spiky hair visible over the top of the brown paper.
“Do you think he is still alive?” Ryou asks, his light brown eyes looking around the living room as he passes through, his arms holding black plastic pots filled with beautiful different red and white roses.
“I hope so. Yami!” Yugi follows Joey in to the kitchen to set down the bags on the island.
“I don’t like this. It’s too quite.” Ryou puts the plastic pots on the counter by the door before jamming it open so it doesn’t swing shut.
“They killed Yami.” The smaller boy whines.
“Don’t be silly, Yug. Yami can’t die, they probably just tied him up and tortured him.” Joey wrinkles his brow. “Gomen. That didn’t help did it?”
“No.” Yugi nervously moves to the kitchen and into the living room again.
“No body is going to help me?” Malik sighs as he moves into the room, a couple bags of groceries in one hand with a pile of clothes in the other.
“I forgot about you.” Ryou smiles as he grabs the clothes.
“What’s wrong with him?” Malik motions his head toward the worried looking Yugi standing in the middle of the living room.
“He’s worried about Yami.” Joey explains.
“Yami! Where are you?” Yugi calls out.
Suddenly a loud thud is heard from above, the sound echoing off the white walls of the living room. Yugi squeaks quietly as he looks up at the ceiling, his eyes wide in worry, his lips quivering slightly. Footsteps pound down the stairs, Yami appears in the living room with his black shirt torn and his hair plastered to his forehead by slimy dark purple goo.
“Ra, I’m going to kill those…those…bakas.” Yami hisses through clenched teeth.
“Yami! What happened?” Yugi runs to his yami’s side, his hands pulling at the ripped shirt.
“Oh, Yami.” Ryou gasps as he comes out of the kitchen, the others following closely behind him.
“Have fun while we were gone?” Malik giggles.
“No, but those creatures you call your yamis did.”
“What is in your hair?” Joey asks around a mouthful of laughs.
“Jelly.” Yami hisses.
“I’m so sorry, Yami.” Ryou tries to cover up his shy giggles behind his hand. “Where are our creatures?”
“Up stairs.”
“I’ll go get them.” Ryou quickly runs by the others and up the stairs, his giggles echoing down to their ears.
“What happened?” Yugi asks his yami.
“I thought if we played Duel Monsters then they wouldn’t be so bad to deal with for a couple hours. And they weren’t until you guys decided not to come back. Then they got bored.” Yami hisses.
“Never a good thing when Marik gets bored.” Malik shakes his head, he leans against the doorframe of the kitchen, his light violet eyes watching the taller tri-colored haired boy across the room.
“Is that where the jelly came in?” Joey asks as he tries to stop laughing.
“No, that was later. First, Bakura decides to steal the Dark Magician from my deck which lead me to chasing him around the house where Marik tripped me with the water hose.”
“Oh, Yami.” Yugi frowns as he wraps his arms around the taller boy.
“When I got up I chased them to the rose garden out back. Lets just say they’re might not be any roses on those stems but they do have thorns.”
“That explains the shirt?” Malik asks.
“Yes.”
“I want to know about the jelly.” Joey chuckles.
“That happened when I chased them back inside where they ran to the kitchen. While Marik distracted me, Bakura creped up behind me and poured a bottle of jelly over my head.”
“Then why were you upstairs?” Yugi asks, his wide sad eyes looking up at Yami’s seething face.
“Because they are cowards and wouldn’t face me. They’ve been playing hide and seek for the past hour.” Yami growls.
“I can’t believe the house isn’t a wreck after all that.” Joey comments.
“They did break a lap in the guest room.” Yami shrugs.
“Our guest room?” Malik asks.
“Yeah.”
“I’m so going to kill Marik.” The pale blonde sighs.
“Bakura!” A shout travels down the stairs and into the living room causing all eyes to look up at the ceiling.
“Oh, I guess I forgot to mention the door.” Yami smirks.
“The door? What door?” Joey asks.
“Bakura! Get out here right now!” Ryou shouts above them.
“Ryou’s bedroom door. I caught them at the end of the hall.” Yami wipes a trail of jelly from the side of his face. “We had a little shoving session that ended with Marik getting slammed into the door causing it to fall off the frame.”
“Is he alright?” Malik ask worriedly.
“Bakura!” Another call from upstairs.
“I don’t know and right now I could really care less. If he is it isn’t bad enough to prevent him from hiding from me.”
“Guys.” Joey’s honey colored eyes look up at the ceiling.
“Well, did he look hurt?” Malik asks.
“Guys.”
“I don’t know, Malik. Why don’t you go looking for him?” Yami suggests.
“Guys.”
“What?” Malik turns sharply to look at the sandy blonde.
“It got awful quite upstairs.”
“Hopefully Ryou killed them.” Yami chuckles.
“Yami.” Yugi swats his yami’s upper arm.
A loud banging suddenly sounds from above them, raised voices filter down to their ears too muffled to be understood. Another banging happens before hurried footsteps run across the floor toward the stairs, the four boys in the living room turn to watch as Marik jumps down the steps and runs toward Malik, hiding behind the smaller boy.
“Help me, kitsune.”
“And what am I suppose to help you from?” Malik questions.
“Ryou.” Marik looks over the angry glare being shot his way by Yami. “And Yami.”
“From what I’ve heard I think you deserve to be handed to both of them.” The smaller pale blonde steps to the side as another set of footsteps bound down the stairs.
Bakura runs through the living room, past the others and into the kitchen quickly, shoving past Joey who stands in the doorway. Moments later an irate white haired hikari storms down the stairs after his yami, his light brown eyes narrowed, his fists clenched at his sides.
“Where did he go?” Ryou hisses.
“Kitchen.” Every one answers quickly, gulping at the usually calm boy.
Ryou walks past the others toward the kitchen only to stop when he stands next to the two pale blondes, a hand raises to point a finger at the taller of the two.
“I’m not done with you.” He hisses as he moves through the door of the kitchen.
“Man he is scary when he is mad.” Yugi whispers.
“I would hate to be Bakura right now.” Yami smirks.
