He’d never had an appointment so late, but when he’d called
to change the time due to a meeting Joey had not only agreed but seemed happy
about it. Walking into the office, Seto
was surprised to find it was dark. Jason
wasn’t at Joey’s desk. The door shut
behind him and Seto nearly jumped. A
hand came over his eyes. “Joey?”

“Shh,” was the answer, followed by an almost restrained
chuckle.

“What are you doing?” Seto asked, while Joey pushed him
blindly toward the hallway.

Joey put on a mock-serious voice.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> “This is an exercise in trust, Seto.”

Seto elbowed him in the stomach.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> Joey laughed.
“Okay, what you said the other day got me thinking.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> I’ve done you a serious injustice, Seto.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> I got so comfortable with the way our
sessions were going I forgot to think about where you needed them to go.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> So, today we start the next phase of your
therapy.”

“Which is?”

Joey didn’t answer.
Eventually, following Joey’s physical instructions, Seto could feel the
night air on his face and knew they were on room eight’s balcony, unless one of
the other rooms had one he wasn’t aware of.
“Surprise,” Joey said, removing his hand from Seto’s eyes and kissing
the back of his neck.

Seto blinked to adjust to the change in light.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> On the balcony was a small table, set for
two, and completed with candles. “Dating,”
Joey said, resting his chin on Seto’s shoulder from behind.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> “You’re going to have to start dating soon, I
thought we’d practice. It’s not quite
dinner, but I brought drinks.”

Seto grew stiff, Joey could feel it because he was pressed
against him. “Come on, it’ll be
fun.” He pushed Seto over to his
chair. The brunette sat without protest
but when Joey tried to move away he caught the blonde’s arm and tugged him
back. Joey’s balance was thrown off and
he landed in Seto’s lap, but that had been Seto’s intention.style='mso-spacerun:yes'>

Joey laughed, turning to straddle Seto’s lap properly.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> “Don’t like my surprise?” he asked.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> Seto responded by nuzzling Joey’s chest.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> The blonde gave a soft sigh, and using both
hands pulled Seto’s head away from him and tilted it up.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> Blue eyes met his, nearly pleadingly.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> Joey gave in instantly, kissing Seto
soundly.

“I promise to sit with you, okay?” Joey said when they
parted. “Just at least let me get the
drinks.”

Reluctantly, Seto let him go.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> Joey stood with a stretch.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> “Is something wrong, Seto?style='mso-spacerun:yes'> You’re quiet, and you’re acting funny.”

Seto didn’t answer at first.
Joey stopped fixing the drinks and turned around.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> “You didn’t have a mood swing did you?”

“There’s this guy I met through work,” Seto started instead
of answering. “But, unrelated to
work. We just happened to be in the same
place at the same time and started talking.”

“And?” Joey asked, picking up Seto’s glass.

“I’m taking him to dinner tomorrow.”style='mso-spacerun:yes'> The statement was punctuated with Joey’s
glass falling to the floor and shattering in a way only a wine glass can.style='mso-spacerun:yes'>

“That’s,” he hesitated, staring at the red wine as it
stained the glittering glass, “wonderful Seto!style='mso-spacerun:yes'> That’s exactly what we talked about.”style='mso-spacerun:yes'>

“Are you okay?” Seto asked, wanting to get up but afraid to
step on the broken glass.

Joey waved a dismissive hand.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> “It just slipped.”style='mso-spacerun:yes'> As soon as the words left his mouth, he felt
sick inside, knowing he’d just lied to Seto despite his promise.
