Mutt in Bed
He pounded up the stairs and threw the door open with a slam. Then he glared at Pegasus, on the bed, stark naked, with Jounuchi in his arms.
“Just as I thought,” he said, “You brought him here – You snake!”
“This is my home,” Pegasus replied mildly, “Where else would I bring him?” He smiled smugly up at Kaiba.
Kaiba turned to Jounuchi. Get your clothes on. We’re leaving.”
A starry look came into the boy’s eyes. “You came for me –“
“Of course I came,” Kaiba’s glare did not change. “I found you right where I thought you’d be, too.” He snorted contemptuously. “You’re too dumb to see through Pegasus’ little schemes. Get your clothes on. I have better things to do than wait for you.”
“Sorry, Pegasus.” Jounuchi gave him an apologetic look. Thanks for lunch.” He sat up. “You’re a lot nicer than I expected and all but…” He stopped, as something struck him. Looking up at Kaiba: “Did you call me dumb just now?”
“Took you long enough!” Kaiba rolled his eyes. “You’d have to be dumb to be fooled by him –“ He threw a scornful look at Pegasus, who leaned back against a pile of pillows, with a very innocent look on his face. “All he had to do was feed you a cheap lunch –“ He glared at Jounuchi. “And bring you back here – You’re not just dumb; you’re easy!”
“Hey, wait a second –“ Jounuchi scowled at him. “I ain’t easy!”
“You’re a slut!”
“I don’t have to take that –“
“You shouldn’t have to,” Pegasus put in helpfully. He added his scowl to Jounuchi’s. “Show some respect, Kaiba.”
“Respect!” Kaiba waved his arms. “I come here and find him whoring in your bed –“
“Stop sayin’ that stuff about me! I didn’t do nothing like that!”
Kaiba eyed Jounuchi, sitting naked on the bed.
“You told me you had no claim over the boy,” Pegasus reminded him. Jounuchi looked at him. “You told me he didn’t matter to you. If I remember correctly, Kaiba, your exact words were ‘for the last time, I don’t care about the mutt.’” He gave Kaiba a smirk. “Just a quote.”
Jounuchi stared at him for a moment. Then he glared up at Kaiba again. “You said that? About me?” He sounded shocked. “Then what –“
“Exactly my question!” Pegasus put a hand encouragingly on his shoulder. “What makes him think he can come here and tell you what to do? Well, Kaiba?” He could not entirely keep a triumphant note out of his voice. “You don’t even care enough to call him by his name.”
“Yeah!” Jounuchi scowled. He allowed Pegasus to slide closer to him in bed. “I hate bein’ called a mutt!”
“See, Kaiba?” Pegasus’ smirk was unbearable. “He hates it.”
“You should show me some respect for a change.” Jounuchi’s voice was truculent. He leaned back into Pegasus’ arms. Kaiba stared at both of them, speechless with fury. He turned on his heel to leave. Jounuchi’s face fell. “Hey, what you doin’?” Kaiba’s foot was in the doorway. “You ain’t leaving?”
“Stay with your good friend Pegasus,” Kaiba threw back at him. “I’m sure he’ll make you quite comfortable.” Jounuchi looked very sad. He drooped in Pegasus’ arms.
“Hold on a minute, Kaiba,” Pegasus called to his retreating back. Kaiba turned. “Simmer down, will you?” He squeezed Jounuchi’s shoulders. “The boy wants you here.” Kaiba started walking again. “Are you really going to leave him with me?” Kaiba did not stop. “You realize you’re letting me win –“
Kaiba stopped. “You can’t manipulate me that easily, Pegasus.” He turned back. “I’m not as dumb as the mutt.”
“I just never thought I’d see the day –“ Pegasus gave him his sweetest smile. “And so easily, too!” He kissed Jounuchi enthusiastically. “We’re gonna have such FUN!” He kissed him again. “ I know so many things we can DO together!”
“Stop it, Pegasus.” Kaiba came back into the room. “It’s not going to work.” Pegasus ignored him and concentrated on Jounuchi. “I’m not gullible.” He stood by the bed, looking at the two of them, tangled in each others arms.
Pegasus nudged Jounuchi. The boy raised a flushed face and looked at Kaiba. “Please stay, Kaiba-san,” he said. “I’m sorry I came home with Pegasus. I didn’t know you’d care.” Kaiba snorted. “You could stay now, and I’ll go home with you after –“ He gave Kaiba his most appealing look. “And I won’t never leave you alone in a restaurant ever again.” Kaiba sat down on the bed. Jounuchi grinned and gave him a big hug. “I’m so glad you’re stayin’!” He hugged him again.
“I’m not a fool.” Kaiba slipped off his trenchcoat. “I know you set me up, Pegasus.” He kissed Jounuchi. “We’re leaving in exactly half an hour.” Jounuchi’s arms were around his neck, and he was kissing him eagerly. “Next time, save your manipulation for someone stupid, like the mutt.” The boy pulled him down onto the bed, in a tangle of arms and legs. He wasn’t sure any longer, whose bare skin he was touching; whose lips were kissing him. That was Jounuchi, kissing his ear, he thought; he was pretty sure he knew what his lips felt like. But that meant it was Pegasus who was… Kaiba did not pursue the matter. There were times and places. And, since he had decided to stay, he might as well stop asking questions and enjoy himself. He rolled over, closed his eyes, and grabbed a warm body at random.
