Chapter 4- Friends No Longer Known
Seto Kaiba glared at the clock on the dashboard of the Italian Import sports car. It was 11:43. He sighed. He had gone to the Turtle Game Shop that afternoon, only to find the place locked up tight and completely deserted. After an hour, he managed to get in touch with Tristan, who told him that Yami and Yugi had moved downtown over a year ago. It took Kaiba all evening to fin their apartment. When he got there, the boys were gone. Their neighbor had told him (for twenty bucks) that the pair was at a club called The Oasis. Kaiba had been driving around, searching for it for the past few hours. He finally found it, and was now looking for a place to park the car.
As he drove down the street, filled with people, a flash of white caught his vision. He saw a slender figure, in tight leather pants, and a tight, sleeveless mint green shirt, fighting against five men, dragging him into an alley. He figure was pale, and, Kaiba stepped on the gas, there was no mistaking the long mane of white hair. He whirled the car into the alley, flooding it with light from the headlights. The car attracted an audience that got even bigger when Kaiba stepped out of it. He glared darkly at the men surrounding Ryou.
Yes, Kaiba thought to himself, it’s Ryou all right, no doubt. The boy was looking terrified, his face streaked with tears, and blood dripped from the corner of his mouth. He looked up at Kaiba, not recognizing the brunette, blinded by the car’s lights.
“Let him go, you scum!” Kaiba snapped.
“Back off man, this got nuthin ta do wit cha!” One of the men said, kicking Ryou. “His pimp owes us money.” Kaiba blinked. ‘Pimp?’
“You think I care? Let him go.” He snarled, coldly. Ryou blinked. He knew that voice.
“We just want the money he owes us. But if he refuses to give it to us, we’ll just have ta settle for something of equal value.” The man jerked Ryou to his feet, and slid a hand over the albino’s thigh. “Say, the rest of the night with me, honey?” Ryou’s eyes widened. There was a sudden flash, and Ryou’s eyes began to glow gold. A glowing gold ring materialized through his shirt, on his chest. Kaiba stared.
“Let me go!” Ryou shouted, and with another bright flash, the men surrounding Ryou were hurled against the walls by an unseen force. Kaiba’s black leather trench coat was whipped back as the force struck him like a harsh wind. The glowing faded, and Ryou fell to his knees. There was quite a huge crowd by now. Kaiba walked over to Ryou, stepping into the light.
“It’s Seto Kaiba!” voices gasped, as the CEO was recognized. Ryou looked up, amazed. Kaiba pulled him to his feet.
“Seto?” Ryou gasped. Then, he smiled, and leapt into Seto’s arms. “Seto! It is you! You’re back!” He cried.
“Ryou. It’s been a long time.” Seto said, putting an arm around Ryou’s shoulder.
“It has, been, hasn’t it.” Ryou replied, snaking an arms around Kaiba’s waist for support.
“Two years. How are you, kiddo?”
“I’ve been better.” Ryou said, wiping the trickle of blood from his face. “What are you doing here?”
“Actually, I’m looking for Yugi and Yami.”
“Oh, they’re at the club down the street. I was actually on my way there now.”
“Well then, I’ll come too.” Seto said, and locked his car, deciding that the alley was as good a parking spot as any. “Maybe you can explain to me why those men were attacking you. They said someone owed them money.”
“Hai. Bakura.” Ryou said. Seto frowned. The men had said Ryou’s pimp owed them money. Could Bakura--. No. He’d never do that to Ryou, Seto thought. He followed Ryou past a line of people waiting to get into a club. Ryou talked with the bouncer, who stepped aside, motioning them in. Kaiba followed Ryou into the club, and stared. What the hell was Ryou, or Yami and Yugi for that matter, doing in a place like this? He saw Ryou go to a table in the corner, where four men sat, one undeniably the boy’s darker half, Bakura. Kaiba moved closer.
“Where the fuck have you been?!?” Bakura snarled at his light.
“Gomen. I ran into some trouble.” Ryou said. He didn’t sit, but stood, as the three other men at the table raked their eyes hungrily over his body. Kaiba scowled.
“Give ya a hundred for ‘im.” One man said. Kaiba stared. There was no way Bakura would sell Ryou like that. Right?
“I wouldn’t let you have him for an hour for that!” Bakura spat, taking a pull at his beer bottle. Oh, God, he is…. Kaiba thought. Bakura bickered back and forth with the three men, until a man suddenly slapped a few hundreds into Bakura’s hand. Bakura grinned.
“Three hours, you bring him straight back here. You fail to do so, or hurt him in any way, and I’ll make sure you won’t be able to be classified as a male any longer.” Kaiba winced at Bakura’s ultimatum. The tallest man stood, and beckoned to Ryou. Ryou looked at the floor, and followed him out of the club, refusing to look at Seto Kaiba. Kaiba stared after Ryou, shocked, then turned back to where Bakura was sitting. The tomb raider was gone.
“You wanna see the Pharaoh, head over to the bar at the center stage.” A familiar growl met Kaiba’s ears. “Oh, and welcome back.” He whirled in time to see Bakura vanish out the door. He clenched his fists. He’d deal with that later. He headed to the bar near the center stage, and looked for Yugi and Yami, ignoring the stripper on the stage. She finished her number, and vanished. He searched and searched, but couldn’t see either of the two boys he was searching for. The crowd suddenly got very excited when a pair of sillouhettes appeared before bright lights. Kaiba looked up, and froze. The lights flashed on, and his suspicions were confirmed. Yugi and Yami stood on the stage, in tight black leather. Kaiba stared, mouth open.
“this can’t be happening…” He muttered to himself, as the boys began to dance to the music that blared, twisting their bodies sensually. After a minute or so, they lost their shirts, showing off muscular chests, slicked with sweat. Yami came up behind Yugi, wrapping an arm around him, thumbing his pant open, drawing cheers and cat calls from the audience. Yugi let his head fall back to Yami’s shoulder as the taller boy began grinding his hips into Yugi’s backside, his hands roaming over the hiakri’s chest. He turned his head, and the two engaged in a heated kiss. Yami’s hand disappeared into Yugi’s pants, and Kaiba stood, storming out of the club, unable to watch any longer.
He walked down the street, feeling numb, not believing what he had just seen. Yugi and Yami were strippers. They practically had sex on a stage for the amusement of perverts and drunks.
“Fuck no!” Kaiba jumped when he heard a familiar voice. He glanced down an alley. “I can’t fence this! Not within the time you want!” Yes, he definitely knew the voice.
“You said you could arrange a buyer, Ishtar!” A rough voice snapped. Kaiba frowned. Ishtar. Malik Ishtar. He saw the boy glaring at a nervous looking man.
“I can, but it’ll take time. The heat is on. I can’t sell it right after you stole it! You have to wait for things to die down!” Kaiba strode down the alley.
“Malik?” He called. The boy jumped, and whirled. “Malik Ishtar.” Kaiba said and stopped in front of the Egyptian.
“Seto?” He gasped, then blinked. “Uh, you aren’t interested in purchasing some da Vinci sketches are you?” He asked, nervously.
“Malik!” Kaiba turned, when Marik came around the corner, smoking a joint. Another man followed Marik, pleading.
“C’mon, man, I’m desperate for a fix!” He wheezed. Marik growled.
“When you get the cash, you get the goods.” He spotted Kaiba. “Well, well, Seto Kaiba. Welcome back.”

Mokuba looked up when his brother came into the room, and collapsed into the sofa.
“Seto?” Mokuba asked, not liking the look on his brother’s face. “Nan desu ka?”
“they’re gone.” Kaiba gasped. “all of them. All our friends.”
“Nani? But, Joey said they were all here!”
“It’s not them. They’re not the people we used to know.”
“What do you mean, Seto?”
“I found them. But it’s not them. Oh, God, I can’t believe this.”
“What? Tell me.” Mokuba said, sitting next to his brother.
“Yami and Yugi.”
“Yes?”
“They’re strippers at a night club.”
“Nani?!?”
“Bakura is selling Ryou out as a whore. Malik is fencing stolen goods, and Marik is dealing drugs. I don’t even know them anymore, Mokuba. They’re complete strangers.”
