Chapter four
To tell the Truth
Mai eh? Anzu mused as she looked at the older woman; she is most likely A LOT older then me anyways. Anzu felt slight jealously sting her heart, immortal beauty. With a soft sigh she looked at Mai, “so do you see any door ways?”
”Of course Hun, there is one right in front of you.” Her blonde head nodded to the wall in front of them, “Then there is some a ways down that way to. Its up to you which one you want to take.” Mai shifted uneasily; oh she would hear of this but now is not time to worry about Mr. Big bad Bakura. Mai also was one never to play fair but she always rooted for the under dog, and Anzu is as underdog as you will get.
“Well let’s take this one.” With renewed confidence the brunette touched the wall. She could feel the magic pulse through her veins as the cloak faded into a passage way. She grinned then turned to Mai, eyes begged her to pass.
“I can’t” That’s all she could say, and all she could do. “Just remember, you are not alone Anzu.” Mai winked at the girl, she also tasted the loneliness of this maze. However, unlike Anzu she could leave this morbid place, to the safe home far from here. With a click of her heel the beautiful fey creature walked down the passage ways. She was everything that area wasn’t, strong, beautiful, caring, loving and something else.
Anzu couldn’t help but feel another sting within her heart but smiled. Something inside her told her, she just made a friend. Of course a friend in this place seemed almost impossible, however she had one if that meant anything.
-----------
Seto hissed angrily, the NERVE of that girl. A piece of cake? If I couldn’t have outsmarted that ass whole what makes her think she will! Seto began to spray the fairies with renewed hate.
This is one of the few pleasures he finds in his hellish life of the underground. Steel blue eyes watched as yet another fairy falls from the spray with a smirk he kicked some dirt over its form. “Wretched little monsters”
“Well, well, well, Kaiba it has been a while, you do seem…irritated.” A cloaked figured leaned against a dead tree, his face masked in the shadows of his hood.
A snarl appeared on the younger mans face but it faded to nothingness. He knew better but when the moment came…”My King, Bakura.” The voice of the younger was lifeless however hidden hate laced it.
“I see you met my newest challenger. not happy she didn’t gave up? of course what would the fun be if she did.” He mocked slightly, “however unlike you, she will fail, and I will make sure she will remember it for all times. that arrogant wench really thinks she can beat me.” A mock tone slipped in, “Yes when the great Seto Kaiba failed to, wouldn’t that just add salt to your wounds.” Bakura watched with delight as Kaiba tried to control his angry towards the powerful king.
“I set a trap for our lovely new guest, and when she falls into it. I want –you- to lead her back here.” He hissed softly towards the Coffee haired man, “Understand?”
At that very moment Kaiba lunched the spray can towards his king, of course Bakura simplify dodged it with a smirk.
“Understood.”
”Good. And do watch that temper.” The king began to fade into nothing, and his voice echoed.
Seto felt like grounding one of those fairies into the desert like ground but resisted, he would never hear the end of it. With a Snarl he entered the maze, and began his mission.
--------------
Anzu sighed as she made her way through the whirling and twisting maze passage ways. A peach color finger grazed against the limestone walls as it owner walks. Blue eyes darted from left to right, then the two shoed feet came to a stop.
“alright I am going to get lost if I keep going like this.” Another soft sigh escaped her red dry lips. Anzu mused, if only she had some water she was dieing of thirst. With a shake of her head she forgot about those thoughts and began to think again.
“I need something that I could mark my way with…anything really….” The girl snorted slightly and stuffed her hands into her pocket angrily. She froze as her fingers brushed against something long and small. An evil smile pulled at her smiles as she pulled out the small container object. Then with a twist of the cap and a turn of the button a ruby red substance appeared.
“Thank you…God. or whoever is watching over me” she sighed happily. “Yugi…” She held it close and apart of her believed he that had helped her. Azure eyes glanced around, she kneeled quickly placing a red mark on the stone. So she did this, repeating the same thing, until of course she was faced with a dead end.
“great!” She grumbled slightly to herself. “A dead end well this was bound to happen sooner or later might as well turn around.” As she turned and went back to her last mark, her blood ran cold. Clenched tightly in her hand was the small red lipstick holder almost gone, and at her feet was her mark that was unmistakably changed.
Anzu choked down the scream that wanted to break through, hot tears slid down her face as she stood and looked at the ground. He would pay, she would beat him at his own game, and she will rub it in his face when she takes her victory.
----------------
Bakura couldn’t help but laugh as he watched the young heroine through his card. His black heart drummed with joy as he saw the tears slip down her face.
”so she won’t give up? well it is her fault.” He spoke softly, “soon she will give up when she sees that she will start all over again. in 9 hours her brother will be mine.” Bakura’s canine teeth were visible as he whispered to the card.
The Goblin King mused himself with evil ideas, as a very annoying, tall, and blonde woman entered his thrown room. White hair shifted around his shoulders as Bakura lifted his eyes to meet the woman’s.
Mai smirked softly at the lazy king, “Bakura it has been a while.”
Bakura sneered; he sat up calmly and stepped on one of his subject. “What are you doing here wench.”
“Oh nothing really Bakura, just doing a check up you see I know how to do my job.” She spoke softly. “Unlike you.”
The King chocked one eyebrow at the woman he hated, he licked his lips. “What is that suppose to mean woman.”
”Oh nothing really” she cooed at him, and flicked some of her hair back. “Nothing at all.”
----------
Anzu stood there as her tears escaped one by one, she finally let the scream of frustration out. The scream slashed through the air, and with one hard throw she threw the lipstick against the wall. However, the tears did not stop nor did her anger, she balled her fists and pounded against the dusty walls.
“Its not fair its not fair!” she shouted to herself. Finally she stood there with her fist raw from the pounding, and her eyes sore from the tears. Then the soft sound of snickering hit her ears with great force.
“Your right its not fair!” A horsed voice snickers.
“But that’s that all of it either!” and another one spoke.
With stiff shoulders she turned to find the dead end not a end but two figures stood there. One had green hair and glasses on, he looked like a nerd if you had to give him a title. Oh and the other one was just about the same height with purple and brown hair, he looked a bit tougher then his companion.
“but this was…. a dead end…” Anzu noticed two doors behind the boys, great…just great.
The one with green hair smirked, “heh! like you will ever make it out, your just an idiot girl.”
”the only way out of here is to try one of these doors.”
“And just because you are an idiot one of these doors leads to death and the way to the center.”
The girl stood…clueless as she glanced at both doors then at the two….lets just say suspicious characters. “Let me guess one of you always tells the truth and one of you always lies. I know this riddle, and I am not going to fall for it.” She nodded to herself, if it was a way out she will take it. Could she really die in here? No, that wouldn’t be- Anzu caught herself before she finished it.
She just had to move on fighting strongly and bravely.
That was the key to winning that is how she has to win.
