"Hello Husband," Nefert said, entering the room "It has been so long. I am pleased to see you well but not so pleased to see you defile yourself in your perversion."
Yugi looked stunned and turned away from the... shell that Nefert inhabited. It hurt to breath. Yami put one arm over Yugi's shoulders, pulling the boy into a protective embrace. "Nefert, what are you doing here?"
Yugi tensed and looked up at Yami, "Defile."
Yami brought his other arm around Yugi, tightly. Never, Aibou, never.
Nefert sneered at the younger boy, stepping closer. Reaching out, she tilted Yugi's cheek to better see him. "So young. As if it wasn't bad enough you have to indulge in pederasty with a boy of our bloodline and only slightly older than our Sana."
Yami knocked her hand away from Yugi. "Why did you come here, Nefert? Why are you doing this?"
"Because it's needed, Yami." Nefert sneered
Yugi clenched his fists and lunged for Nefert. "Get out of Téa!"
Isis stepped in front of Yugi as he lunged. "No, Yugi! You mustn't hurt her!"
Yami tightened his grip on the teen, holding him back. "Why now, Nefert?" he asked. "You've been here, with her all along. Why did you choose now to show yourself? Why not during the Duelist Kingdom?"
"You didn't need me. Perhaps I should note, this happened after Duelist Kingdom. I had so much faith. I believed once you saw your mistake you wouldn't be corrupted again. I should know that addicts can't heal that fast."
"I'm not corrupted, Nefert. The games they have now are harmless, just cards. It's like Sanahkt and I used to play."
Nefert glared at her once-husband. "HARMLESS! You hooked our son on the Shadow Games through those cards. He was in the shadow realm. He almost died. If Shebi-ib hadn't done as he did, you would have taken our son and addicted him too!"
"Shebi-ib? Shebi-ib was the one that TOOK our son to the Shadow Realm!"
"Shebi-ib knew of the dangers it posed. He took Sana there to show him the realm, to convince him of its danger. Shebi-ib loved him."
Yami's grip on Yugi tightened as his past wife's words cut him. "If he loved him so much, and was trying to protect him, why would he take a child there with no guards? He was 6, the Shadow Realm destroyed grown men. He was making no move to leave when I showed up, Sana limp in his arms!"
"He promised no harm to him, just a quick show around and he'd bring Sana back. I knew when he came to me that night, what really happened. He hadn't succumbed to the games yet."
"*He* hadn't? What did he tell you, Nefert? What lies did he spread?"
Yugi turned to Isis, "Do you know who the others are?"
"Only vague images," she answered.
"Joey? Tristan? Is Shebi-ib in either one of them?" Yugi asked quietly
"No, they are not your enemies."
Yugi stepped in front of Yami. "Nefert. I don't know or care about you. Yami is mine, he belongs to me. Now I don't know if you have Téa trapped in you, or if you are Téa, but Yami belongs to me." Yugi pulled Yami down and kissed him, long hard and sweet.
"Nushi, isn't it time for us to go home?" Yugi asked "You have a promise to keep."
Nefert smiled cruelly and nodded to Yami. "Of course, you and your... catamite have perversions to perform. As for Shebi-ib, what he told me has been proved by you." Sneering, she strode from the room.
Yami sighed, letting his head fall to Yugi's as she left.
Yugi chuckled and shook his head. "Nushi, you married her? WHY?"
"Arranged marriages, Hikari. It was a prearranged marriage."
"Was it worth it?"
Yami nodded, sounding more like he was talking to himself than Isis and Yugi. "I loved her once, and our children. But that part of my life is over now."
Isis stepped forward. "I regret that had to happen, however at least now you know where one thrust of opposition comes from."
Again, Yami only nodded. "Yes, but how do I overcome that opposition? She's one of Yugi's friends."
Picking up a scroll, "I do not know. Take this scroll. Perhaps it will help. "
Yami took it, giving her a soft smile. "Thank you, Mes-enkha."
"You remember?"
"Very little. I remember you, and your brother, Ahmose. You were born during the day, and he was born later, at night."
"Yes, Yami." Turning to Yugi, she took his hand in both of hers, "Yugi know this. Every future I see has him with you. Trust this." Yugi stared at her, "I know. I'll never let him go."
Yami wrapped his arms around Y sil silently affirming what Yugi said.
"This love will help." Isis smiled at both of them, and walked off. Leaving the two of them alone in the exhibit.
Yami sighed, dropping his arms from around Yugi. "Let's go home, Aibou. I have a promise to keep."
Yugi blushed and grabbed Yami's hands. "Hai."
* * *
Yugi's hand trembled as he struggled to fit the key in the lock. All the ride home, Yami would reach over and stroke his face, his arm, his neck. Every touch making his want to turn and suck on Yami's lip.
Pushing against the door, he would have fallen in if Yami hadn't caught him. Yami's finger pressed against his ribs. Sighing, he wrapped one hand around Yami's throat and pulled him down. He let his lips caress his beloved's. Then he waited, eyes wide and happy.
Yami kissed him, slow and gentle, sucking slightly on his lower lip. His arm dropped down to Yugi's legs, scooping him up in one quick and careful motion.
Yugi sighed in pleasure, moving up to suck Yami's earlobe. "My Nuhi, now you are my dorei. My chuuboku."
Yami started to carry Yugi upstairs, sighing deeply.
He carried the teen into his room, kicking the door closed behind him. He set the boy down on the bed, then kissed him fiercely. The spirit ran his tongue over Yugi's lower lip, asking for admittance. Yugi moaned sweetly and opened his mouth, whispering Yami's name against his lips. Yugi trembled at feeling Yami's flesh aga his his face. Leaning up, he nibbled Yami's neck. Pushing Yami away, Yugi reached up and unbuckled his collar, sending a clear message about who was going to control this tryst. Yami nodded, reaching up and kissing Yugi's neck where the collar once was, nibbling the soft flesh. Just for tonight he'd let Yugi have his way, maybe it would help with his self-confidence.
Smiling at Yami's acceptance, he nudged Yami until he was on his back. Slipping off the bed, he pulled out the suitcase from underneath. Yami looked over, a small smirk on his face as he watched the boy.
Yugi opened it, remembering going with Yami and his fake id to get this stuff. For some reason beyond him, his pharaoh loved blue. Pulling out the blue fur cuffs, he showed them to Yami. Yami nodded in approval.
Placing them on the bed, he climbed onto the bed and sucked on Yami's neck. "Don't worry, I'll male sure they don't hurt you." Yugi bit Yami's neck, then pulled him up. "Take off your clothes... slowly."
Yami smirked as he undid the buttons he lhe long shirt. He slowly pulled it down, off his shoulders and over his arms. Yugi licked his lips.
The spirit pulled the second shirt up, exposing a lean muscled stomach, inch by inch.
Yugi leaned over and pulled a tube from behind his back. Opening it, he squeezed a translucent red ribbon onto his fingers and spread it over that wonderful creamy skin. Smirking, he licked it, Cinnamon. He blew a spike of icy breath across the firm flesh.
Yami shivered slightly at the feel of the rough tongue and cool breath across his skin. He continued to pull the shirt over his head, lightly muscled chest coming fully into view. He tossed the shirt aside, standing. He undid the button on his pants and started to peel them away.
Yugi kneeled on the bed. "More, boku no Nuhi. I can't wait until I slather you with this, before I suck it off." Yugi licked his lips and leaned back on the bed.
Yami peeled the pants the rest of the way off and crawled back onto the bed.
Yugi beckoned his lover and pointed to the bed. Once Yami was lying down, Yugi pick up a wide paintbrush that he had taken, unnoticed, from the suitcase. He placed a large pile of jelly on one of Yami's shoulders. Dipping the brush into it, he started to paint a haiku on Yami' s chest.
shi shivered slightly at the feeling of the paintbrush on his skin, sighing happily.
Finished Yugi sat back on his heels and took off his shirt, throwing it carelessly to the floor. Pressing his chest to Yami's, he whispered softly, the very poem he had written on his lover's flesh.
This night I sleep
Inside your comforting arms
still, safe and quiet.
Yugi pushed himself up slid until his knees gripped Yami's ribs. "Nuhi..." He brushed the jelly over Yami's lips. "Open your mouth." Yami smiled, parting his lips for the teen. Yugi brushed the jelly around Yami's mouth before he unzipped his pants. Pulling out his slim cock, he placed the head against Yami's lips.
Yami took the head in his mouth, sucking gently. He flicked the tip gently with his tongue, teasing the slit. Yugi whimpered and pushed in deeper. Yami's mouth was both spicy warm from the jelly and cool as always. Leaning over, he ran his hands through Yami silky smooth hair.
Yami slowly sucked the length, tongue lightly teasing the warm flesh. Moaning deep his throat. The vibrations, he knew would drive Yugi wild. Wrapping his hands around Yugi's waist, he pulled him deeper. Nuzzling into the soft thick sable hair at the base. The wild sweet and sultry scent of Yugi, pure Yugi, filled his nostrils. Moaning in pleasure, he closed his eyes and let Yugi's hands run through his hair, over his body.
Yugi bucked when he felt Yami's teeth stroke over the underside of his cock, between the cinnamon jelly and his teeth... Desperately, he pulled Yami off him and pushed him flat. Falling forward, he sucked Yami's lip into his mouth and bit. Reaching for the regular lube on the floor, he moaned "I love you like this." Yugi sat back on his heels and spread Yami's legs. Spreading some lube on his fingers, he placed his other hand below Yami's hip and lifted him slightly. Staring into his Nuhi's eyes, he reached under him. Pressing one finger in past that tight ring, he remembered the first time they did this. Tears of joy came to his eyes, and his kissed Yami's stomach. Gently he prepared his beloved.
"Yugi, please, Aikouki, please." Yami reached for him.
"Nuhi. Yes." Yugi pressed the tip of his wet cock against Yami and poured more lube over the shaft. Grabbing one of Yami's hands, he pressed forward. Slowly, he sank into his lover, his Nuhi, his Yami, until he couldn't go in any further. He stayed there for a moment before pulling out and pressing home again.
Yami squeezed Yugi's hand as he thrust faster and faster into him. Yami could feel it fill him, every time it pulled out, he felt as if something was taken from him. Whining under his breath, he tried to meet each thrust. Gasping he felt the head swell to an impossible size. It was so much! He flew.
Yugi felt his orgasm reach from him to fill his lover. Crying out, he pulled Yami up into his arms and bit his neck.

Yugi sighed and reached up to undo one fur cuff. Letting his hand fall back down, he listened to his lover's heartbeat. Yami undid the second cuff and let his arms fall around Yugi. He held the boy close, rubbing his back and sighing.
"Yami, Kihou, you will never leave… But what about Téa? What are we gonna to do? We can't let Nefert keep taking her over." Yugi said, rubbing his lover's stomach.
"We have to make her want to stay buried."
"But how do we do that? How can we get that bitch out of my friend?"
Yami tapped Yugi gently on the nose. "She has her reasons, Aibou. Our last parting wasn't the best in the world, and I did treat her horribly near the end."
"Neh!" Yugi wrinkled his nose and shook his head. "That just means she shouldn't be sniffing around you, she should be wanting to stay as far from you as possible. If she doesn't, it's because she's up to something."
"We were in love once, Yugi. Maybe she still loves me, or maybe she wants to put me through all the pain I put her and our children through."
Yugi grit his teeth. "Once, five thousand years ago. She has no more claim to you! And if she wants to give you pain, in the body of my friend or not, I'll do whatever it takes to destroy her!"
Yami rubbed Yugi's back in slow circles, trying to calm him down. "She's still your friend, Aibou. This might've been just a one time thing. We might never see from Nefert again."
Yugi looked at Yami, sarcastically. "Yeah, you're right. Chances are Nefert, who possesses her like my Yami possesses me, will likely never show herself again. Even though she thinks we are wrong to be loved by each other and she's planing something evil? Right?" Yugi shook his head and relax. "I do love you."
"I love you too, Aibou, but she doesn't posses her like I posses you. If she did, we could separate the two."
"True. She was..." Yugi looked up at Yami gently. "Her entire soul was in this world, so it reincarnated. So we have to find a way to make her sleep again."
Yami kept rubbing his back, relieved he wasn't hell bent on killing Tea to stop Nefert anymore. "Yes, we do, and we will, somehow."
"Of course," Yugi smiled slyly. "I don't want to hurt Téa but you are my love, my heart's soul. She lays one single lip on you and she's down for the count."
"You can't hurt one and not the other, Yugi. They don't have a soul link to close off like we do."
"I won't hurt her badly or even much. But..." Yugi squeezed Yami tight. "I just got you back. I just got you back. Yami... if... I can't... If I lose you again... I'll never fix my heart. I can't." Yugi started to cry.
Yami hugged Yugi tightly, still rubbing his back. "Shhhhh, Aibou. You won't lose me. You'll never lose me."
"Never, Kihou. Never."
"That's right, Yugi, Never."
Yugi laughed bitterly and hugged his lover tighter.
Yami pulled the boy closer, so his head was on his shoulder, body on Yami's chest. "Shhh, Aibou, you have nothing to worry about. I'm not going anywhere. I'm yours and yours alone, for now and forever."
Yugi closed his eyes and dropped off.
Yami waited until Yugi had been asleep awhile, then carefully tried to roll the boy off him Yugi turned over and hugged Yami's pillow closer to him. The smell of the pillow sent him further into sleep.
Yami smiled, and kissed Yugi's cheek before slipping out of the bed and going over to the desk. "
I have to explain things to her, Yami thought. Maybe if I can make her understand, realize I never meant to hurt her or the children. Maybe she'll leave Yugi and me alone. The spirit pulled out a sheet of unlined paper and a pen. He sat at the desk and started writing, filling the page with the same neat pictures found on the journal entries. He read over his work with a sigh, then tucked the paper into the pants he planned to wear tomorrow. I hope this helps her understand and gets her to leave us alone, he thought, laying in bed and pulling Yugi close again.

Nefert sat before the mirror, brushing her short hair. Once I reclaim Keke, I'll make sure to grow out this hair. I don't know why this *child* cut it. Placing the brush on the table, she sat on her bed. It was time for her to retreat and let that peasant do her scribe work. Lying down to make the transition, Nefert was almost gone when a piercing shriek brought her back to full consciousness. Realizing it was the telephone, she picked it up. "Speak."
"Nefert, dearest sister in law. I'm pleased to find you well," a smooth voice purred over the phone.
Nefert froze. "Shebi-ib. I did not know you lived again. I thought for sure, with what your brother did, you would never reincarnate."
"The gods smile on me."
"Apparently. I am glad, You were always a good man. It is unfortunate that your brother was so jealous." Nefert replied huskily.
A smirk was thick in Shebi-ib's voice as he spoke. "Speaking of my dear brother, I'd assume you've heard of his current activities?"
"His perversions." Nefert muttered "How can I not, when he shows it to the world. He makes a mockery of me. It was bad enough that he couldn't be a good man like you, but to flaunt this... vile action in front of people."
"You shouldn't blame him, Nefert. His corruption from the Dark Games runs deep."
Nefert bolted up angrily, her grip tightened until her knuckles turned white. "Thank all the gods that you saved my precious son from that. But perhaps you can tell me why you contacted me now?"
"I've found a way to end his corruption. I know how to remove all the perversions from him and return him to our sweet Keke again. That is, if you're interested?" Shebi-ib purred.
\havehave the real Keke back. You are a good man to keep trying to redeem your brother. Of course I will. I do not see how I can stay with him after this but we must do all we can to redeem him." Nefert whispered huskily.
"I knew you'd agree, Nefert, you're a good woman, and a devoted wife."
"Yes, I am." Nefert smiled, settling down for a long conversation.
* * *
Tea stood outside of the Game Shop, waiting for Yugi and Yami to meet her for school. Yami was currently gently prodding Yugi to move faster, so they wouldn't be late.
"Yami, stop, that tickles!" Yugi laughed and ducked under his lover's arm. Seeing Téa, he waved to her. Stopping in front of her, he whispered. "Téa?"
"Hey, Yugi, you're running late again. One of these days you're going to make us tardy to class." Tea teased him, as she did every morning.
Yugi laughed and hugged her, "Not with Yami around."
Tea hugged him back, a little shocked at his reaction to her teasing, and Yami cleared his throat. "We'd best hurry, Aibou."
"It's not like school is going anywhere but you are right Tea. Were going to be late..." Yugi took Yami and Téa's hands and started off.
Yami put one hand in his pocket as they started walking, fiddling with the note inside and looking for an opportunity to give it to Tea.
Yugi dropped their hands and headed for a shop up ahead. Looking in the window, he saw some new cards. Pulling out his money, he realized he didn't have enough if he wanted to eat lunch. So he just looked at it. Perhaps he could buy it for Yami later.
Yami smirked at Yugi as he carefully slipped the note into Téa's coin purse. Then alkealked over to Yugi, putting his arm over his shoulders. "What do they have, Aibou?" the spirit asked, looking over the cards.
"Some nice cards. Perhaps after I get my allowance from Ji-chan we can get some?"
Yami nodded and started to answer when loud shouts interrupted him. "YAMI! YUGI! TÉA!" Joey and Tristan shouted, running up to meet the group.
"Joey, Tristan, Hello!" Yugi waved at them, bouncing on his toes.
Joey put his arms over Yugi and Yami's shoulders. "See, Tristan. I told you we'd find them in front of this card shop."
"Yeah, yeah. We meet them on this block every morning."
Yami slipped out of Joey's arm. "And we'd better go to the alley scan can return to the puzzle."
Yugi sighed and nodded. Yugi followed Yami into the alley. Reaching up, he caressed Yami's cheek. "Ai shiteru, Nushi."
Yami kissed Yugi's hand gently, then disappeared in a soft flash of gold light. I love you too, Aibou. Good night.
After Yami entered the puzzle, Yugi stood there for a minute, holding the warm puzzle. Shuttering his mind from his lover, he whispered, "I love you, but can I trust you? You slipped something into Téa's purse, I saw it in the window. Glass reflects."
* * *
Yami stood in the center of a park waiting for Nefert. The park was about half way between Yugi's and Téa's houses, a place the two had often met before. It was usually pretty empty, but at midnight, it was completely barren. Yami tapped his foot, impatiently waiting for his long dead wife to arrive. The Pharaoh was dressed in clothes completely opposite his usual skin tight, leather attire. Wearing baggy jeans and a sweater, he didn't want Nefert to get the wrong idea.
Nefert stood in the shadows, ruffling the peasant length hair. Striding from the shadows, she ran her hands down her... dress. Dress, if one could call it that. It barely held her just adequate breasts and covered the top of her ass. Stopping in front of him, she posed to her advantage. "Husband. I'm glad you're here. I knew you couldn't have been so corrupted."
Yami was taken aback by her outfit, he'd seen girls on TV dress like that, but Téa? He never thought SHE'D own such clothes. "Ne-Nefert..."
"Yes, sweet Keke?" She purred coming closer to him.
Yami shook his head. "My name is Yami now, neke.eke."
"They mean the same. Dark, one born with the powers of Darkness. Keke, Yami. Come to me."
"No, Nefert. I came here only to talk to you. I came to make to peace and right my mistakes. I'm not here to reclaim old loves."
"Old... loves? We are married." Nefert stood there, her arms crossed under her breasts, pushing them nearly out of her dress.
"We WERE married, Nefert. We both died 5 millennia ago."
"We were happy before you got corrupted by the games. Before you abandoned me and my children. Before you did the ultimate selfish act and left our world behind to CONQUER that one! And yet our son, my son, still loved you."
"I didn't leave to conquer anything! I sealed off the Shadow Realm! Didn't Sahure tell you? Didn't you find my journal? I tried to escape before the portal was sealed but I couldn't. Others were there, one of them attacked me and stabbed me, pinned me down until the portal was sealed."
"Shebi-ib told me that you would say such lies. They tried to keep you from killing them and failed. Now the time in that realm has twisted your mind. Enough! I thought I could save you from your corruption. I see now it's too late." Nefert stepped up to him, and raised her hand. Stroking it down the side of his face, she said "My Keke is truly , yo, you are a demon and I will not be tied to a demon."
Yami grabbed her hand, gently but firm enough to pull it from his face. "You talked to Shebi-ib? Nefert, listen to me, please. My soul is free of the corruption of the Games. I had to overcome my addiction to seal them. Don't you remember the night that I left? Or were you sleeping so deeply you forgot what I said to you?"
"Lies. I remember your lies!"
"No, Nefert, remember. I kissed your cheek and I promised you that if I survived sealing the Shadow Realm, I'd make up for my mistakes."
A flash of darkness crashed into Yami, Yugi sat on top of him, fists flying. "You said it was political. You lied. AGAIN. You Lied AGAIN!"
Whirling off Yami, he ped ped Nefert. "You couldn't let him be happy. Well, take him!" Yugi ran off, crying
Yami was on his feet in an instant. "Yugi?!" Aibou, wait!
Yugi ran, his lungs burned to draw in breath. He couldn't think. He didn't want to think. Every thud of his sneakers took him away. Away from the pain. Maybe if he didn't stop running, Yami couldn't catch him.
This time of night, there were few cars. Yugi ducked and dodged. He couldn't see for the tears in his eyes. A metal bar caused his breath to pop out of him. Looking down, he realized he was on the pier. The pier so long ago... they kissed. He continued to cry, letting his tears fall into the ocean. Climbing up on the bar, he sat, looking over the water. It was so deep there.
Back in the park, Nefert watched the fools run off and laughed viciously. Perhaps Yugi will take care of their problem for them. Yami ran after Yugi as fast as he could, skidding to a halt as he saw Yugi climb up and sit on the rail. "Yugi?"
Yugi rocked faster, his small hands rotating swiftly. His feet pressed against a lower railing, as if he was preparing to launch. Yami ran over to the railing, wrapping his arms around the boy to pull him back. "Yugi, Hikari, stop."
Yugi twisted from Yami's grip and continued to rock. Slowly, slowly, ever so slowly, but each time he rocked further towards the water.
Yami tried to hold onto him. "Yugi." Aibou, stop this, please
Yugi rocked and bucked against Yami's hands. Then twisted to face him. Yugi's voice was rough with anger and acute sadness.
"You betrayed me. You lied to me."
"All I said was that it was a prearranged marriage, Aibou. I never said if it was political or not, just that it was prearranged."
"Much better, there's always a loophole isn't there? Did they teach you that when you were being trained to be pharaoh. Except you aren't anymore. You were my lover, but you aren't that either, right? Loopholes." Releasing the railing, he shoved Yami away and let the momentum propel him backwards. Without a sound, he fell backwards. Hitting the water on his back, he let a final breath of air go and sank beneath the dark waters.
Yami staggered back, catching himself before he fell. He bolted over to the railing and jumped it without a second thought. His entire body shuddered when he hit the water and pulled himself to the surface. He looked around for Yugi, fighting tep hep his head above water.
The water wasn't so cold after a while. Yugi floated on his back, his ribs hurt for a minute and then they were rocked by the water. There was something brushing his foot. Were there fish here? He can't remember.
Yami took a deep breath and dived below the water again, using this soul link with Yugi and the Puzzle to find him. He strained to see in the dark waters, forcing the Puzzle around Yugi's neck to glow to give him some idea where his Hikari was. Finally, when his lungs were starting to burn, he grabbed hold of Yugi's pant leg. He locked his hand around the cloth and started to pull the boy both to him and the surface.
Yugi felt something tug on his leg. pulling him towards the light. Light was good. He relaxed and let himself be tugged towards the light. Something around his neck was trying to keep him from the light. He struggled with it
Yami swam to the surface as fast as he could, taking a deep breath when he finally broke it. He same to the shore, holding Yugi in one arm. Aibou, stay with me, please, stay with me. If you die, I die.
It was so heavy. He could feel the tugging continue, so he left it. If it hurt... hurt... hurt... if it tried to keep him from the light, from Hikari, he'll... do something. Hikari... so familiar... he didn't want Hikari, turning he looked down and saw the dark. Yami. Dark. I need darkness.
The light came. Hikari wasn't there but the light came. Yugi stopped fighting.
Yami pulled himself to the shore, laying Yugi on his side on the concrete. He pried the boy's mouth open to let the water out and patted Yugi on the back. "Aibou, Koi, please, wake up. Come back to me, wake up."
Yugi coughed up water. Shuddering with the effort to breathe out all the water. His back arched as he tried to curl up. Opening his eyes, he groaned and closed them. He was cold. The water had been so warm, so safe
Yami sighed in relief and pulled the boy into his arms. At least he was breathing! "Aibou, Yugi, say something, anything."
"There... is... no... light." Yugi whispered brokenly before passing out.
Yami blinked, not understanding the cryptic message, but not caring at the moment. He needed to get the boy home and in dry clothes before he got sick. The spirit cradled his smaller half against his chest and stood, looking for a ladder to climb out with. He found one and shifted the boy to over his shoulder so he could climb up, then headed to the Game Shop.
* * *
Yami carried Yugi up to the bathroom, by now the spirit was shivering fiercely from the water. He laid Yugi gently on the floor and pulled him out of his wet clothes, wrapping him in a large towel. The pharaoh walked back into Yugi's bedroom, shedding his own wet clothes along the way and dug through Yugi's drawers, looking for the warmest pair of PJs the boy o. He. He decided on a pair of blue footie PJs, then found a pair of flannel ones for himself. He walked back into bathroom dressing along the way. He knelt beside the boy and dried him off before dressing him in the warm dry clothes and carrying him to bed. Yami laid down with the boy, holding him close and wrapping him up in the covers. He sighed, stroking the boy's cheek. "I'm sorry, Hikari. I was only trying to make it right."
Yugi stirred. So softly, he breathed, "There is no light."
Yami shifted the boy closer. "Yugi, what do you mean?"
Yugi turned his head slowly. "No hikari wi'out Yami. No light, wi'out dark. Hikari, light."
Yami stroked his cheek, holding him close. "Aibou, I'm right here."
Yugi felt himself slipping. "no dark. No light."
Yami gently kissed Yugi's forehead. "No, Aibou. I'm here, I'll never leave you. I'm so sorry, I was trying to make her leave us alone. All I wanted was for her to understand, and leave us alone."
Yugi shivered and curled tighter around his pillow. Pulling away from Yami.
Yami shut his eyes, tears slipping down his cheeks. He wiped his eyes and pulled the boy close, so that they were back to front for warmth. He resisted the urge to turn the boy over facing him, as he shut his eyes again. "Aibou... I'm sorry, I was only trying to make it right." he muttered softly.

The sunlight was so warm the next day as he awoke. Yugi stretched and yawned. Turning his head, he saw Yami's behind him. Tear tracks had dried on Yami's cheeks. Crying. He cried. What right does he have to cry?
Yami woke up when Yugi moved, hugging him tightly out of reflex. "Aibou, you're okay." His voice was filled with relief.
"I'm alive." Yugi stood up. Picking up his towel, he went to sh.
.
Yami sat up watching Yugi walk to the shower with a deep sigh. "I'll make this up to you, Aibou, I'll get your forgiveness somehow."
Yugi stood in the shower, washing himself. He tried not to think of the tears mixing with the water. When he was done, he wiped his face and wrapped the towel around him. Once back in the room, he pulled his school uniform out of the closet.
"Aibou, maybe you should stay home today. After last night, you might get sick."
"I am already late." Yugi got dressed slowly. Every time the puzzle brushed against his fingers, he froze
"You haven't missed a day this semester, Yugi. Joey or Tristan can drop off your work."
"I'm late." Yugi picked up his bookbag and headed out
Yami sighed, the Sennen puzzle glowing as he disappeared into it. After your classes, we need to talk, Aibou.
Yugi went downstairs, out the shop, locking the door, he headed towards school. Once there he went to the office and got a late pass. He slipped silently into his third class and settled down.
* * *
Yami appeared from the puzzle the moment Yugi was in his room. Still in the pajamas he'd worn the night before. "Aibou..."
"Yes, Obake no Gosennen?"
Yami paused, trying to think of what to say, how to make his Aibou see that the last thing he meant was to hurt him. He took a deep breath, looking Yugi in the face. "Aibou, I'm sorry."
"You say that a lot lately." Yugi turned and pulled out his textbooks. Sitting at his desk, he opened them.
Yami went over, putting his hand on Yugi's shoulder. "Yugi, I didn't mean to hurt you. I just... I thought that if I talked to her alone, she'd understand. I thought she'd leave us alone, let us be happy."
"You want your wife to leave you alone with your male lover. Tell me is that what you would do 5000 years ago. A man would tell his wife to leave him alone, and she'd do it? Or did they talk?" Yugi pulled out a sheet of paper and started on math problems.
"This isn't 5000 years ago, Yugi."
"I know. It took you this long to realize it?"
"Yugi, I know what the date is. If this were 5000 years ago, things would be different."
"I don't think so. I'm not Nefert. Did it occur to you, oh God, oh pharaoh, to talk to me? Or did the sun god's son just do as his wisdom told him to? Tisn\isn't 5000 years ago. Your Hikari wrapped himself in you so much... so deeply. What was to do when you betrayed him?" Yugi didn't turn around but kept working on the math work.
"I didn't mean to betray you. Aibou, I didn't think you'd let me meet her alone. I'm sorry. I was only trying to make things right."
"When I was down there... I almost reached it. The perfect place between light and dark. I was safe. I couldn't be hurt. When we first met... I was so happy. I had a friend. For the first time, I had a friend. Then because of you, I got more friends." Yugi shook his head. "I wrapped my heart around you and no matter what I do. You don't stop. You never stop trying to hurt me. Why?"
Yami put his hand on Yugi's cheek, taking an unsteady breath. "I never meant to hurt you, Aibou. I'd never hurt you on purpose. I'm sorry I didn't tell you I planned on meeting Nefert. It was the wrong choice, but why are holding me responsible for things I did when I was Pharaoh? Why are you angry with me over a past I can't even fully remember?"
Yugi sighed and put down his pencil. Turning, he faced Yami. "I'm not upset because of that. I'm upset because you still love her and rather than say.es, es, I still care for her. I'll not go back to her but I need to sit down with her and let her know what the deal is.' You snuck around. You didn't ask me. Either you treat me like I'm a child and won't understand or you act as arrogant as only a pharaoh could be and assume you know everything. When you came to me, suddenly I thought there was nothing I couldn't do if I only tried hard enough now now... how can that be when no matter how hard I try, I will never be the one you never keep secrets from. I will never be the one you trust fully. I can't accept only something. Is there anything that I have not shared with you?"
"Yugi, I do trust you. I thought you knew I'd never leyou you over her. I've told you time and again that that part of my life is over. I don't want her back, I just want you."
"You want me? You trust me? You don't share... I thought you did at first, after all the dreams were magical but then you clam up. Did you think I would have said no? Likely I would have asked you, 'What would you do in the past?'. Then we could go from there, since she still wants it to be as it was then." Yugi sighed and closed his eyes. "Last night... I wanted to kill her. I never felt that bad."
Yami put his harms around Yugi, hugging him tight. "I'm sorry, Aibou. I never meant to hurt you. I didn't mean to make you doubt me. Tell me what you want, what I have to do for your forgiveness. I don't know how to make this better, and I don't want to hurt you anymore."
"I don't know. I've never been in love before you. Could you... just stay here while I go out for a while?" Yugi asked hesitantly.
Yami nodded. "All right, Aibou."
Yugi stood up and fingered the puzzle before going out. Shutting the door, he walked downstairs. He could hear Ji-chan on the computer in the back room. Yugi walked over and knocked on the door. "Ji-chan?"
"Come in, Yugi."
Yugi entered and sat down on Ji-chan's couch. "Ji-chan, you love obaa-san, didn't you? Loved her a lot."
Of course I did, Yugi. Why do you ask?" Ji-chan turned to face his grandson.
"Does it hurt? Hurt so much that sometimes you just want to end it and never feel again?"
"Yes, Yugi, love can hurt, but if you can survive it, the hurt makes the love stronger in the end."
Yugi eyes started leaking slowly. "Yami... his wife was reincarnated. She still loves him, still wants him, and he still cares for her. He decided that even knowing that I can't stand her, to meet her, in private. He snuck out of the house, met her, let her touch him. He told her... that he was going to make things right between them.
"Ji-chan, it was hard enough to understand how he can go from seeing another love as defilement to acceptance but then she shows up. Ji-chan, last night, my heart broke. I jumped into the waters under the pier and he saved me. But I still hurt so much. Is that love?"
Ji-chan walked over to the boy and hugged him tightly. "Yes, Yugi, that's love. If you didn't love him it wouldn't've hurt."
Yugi pressed into Ji-chan's chest and let himself cry. After a while, he pulled back and wiped his eyes. "Ji-chan what should I do?"
"Yugi, if you really love Yami, don't let this get between you. You should go up to him and tell him exactly how you feel and exactly what he did to hurt you."
"Hai, Ji-chan, he doesn't realize what he did. He apologizes that I felt hurt, he apologized for the results, but he hasn't for what he did. I think he and I need a long talk." Yugi stood up and headed for the stairs. The phone rang and Yugi decided to let Ji-chan get it
* * *
"Hello, Turtle Game Shop." Ji-chan answered.
"Hello, my I speak to my once-brother, Yami." Isis asked.
Ji-chan paused for a moment. "Umm, yes, one moment." He covered the mouthpiece and shouted. "YAMI! PHONE!"
Yami blinked in confusion and picked up the phone in Yugi's room. "Hello?"
"Brother, tell me the truth. Were you this stupid with Nefert?"
"What are you talking about?"
"This is a new day and new age. You had a new chance just like Sahure told you. Listen to this, a poet of many centuries after than us.
"Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
"It means that love, true love cannot be stopped nor should anyone be allowed to insert problems. That it exists accepting flaws of their lovers, doesn't try to change them. Yugi is a modern young man who expects his lover to share with him, not protect him until he doesn't know what's going on."
Yami sighed. "You're right as always, sister. But how do I fix this? I've tried apologizing, but I don't think it helped any."
"What did you apologize for? The act itself or the consequences?" Isis pressed.
"The consequences..."
"You are an idiot and you have learned nothing." Isis sighed. "Consequences can be dealt with but they aren't as important as the act you did. You must stop the act because it leads to the consequences. As our father once said, 'it is easier to stop a battle than a war.' You kept secrets from him Keke. In this time, lovers, partners, spouses, share their problems. They don't hide."
Yami leaned back against the wall. "I know that now, Mes-enkha." His voice held a slight smile. "I should have come to you in the first place, just like I used to."
"Yes, but you are stubborn, Keke. Now go down and reclaim him."
"I will, Thank you."
Yami hung up the phone.
The spirit sighed and stood up, walking downstairs to find Yugi.
* * *
Yugi stood at the head of the stairs, biting his lip. Straightening his shoulders, he turned towards his room.
Yami stopped in front of Yugi, seeing him biting his lip. He reached up, putting his hand on Yugi's cheek and using his thumb to pull the boy's lip away from his teeth. "Don't bite your lip, Aibou."
Yugi let his lip fall from his teeth. "Yami. Ummm... who was it?"
"My sister."
"Isis? Does she need something?"
"Only to help me see what an idiot I am."
Yugi eyes widened, "Nani?"
Yami pulled the boy close, whispering. "I'm sorry I kept secrets from you. I'm sorry I didn't talk with you first." He pulled back from the boy and looked him in the eyes. "I promise you, Aibou, I'll never hide anything from you again."
Yugi stood stunned. Slowly he wrapped his arms around Yami. "I love you. It hurt so much because I love you so much."
Yami hugged him back tightly. "I love you too, Aibou."
"Everything isn't fixed, you know... but I feel a lot better. How about we go cuddle on my bed before I have to finish my homework."
Yugi wrapped his arms around Yami.
The spirit nodded and picked Yugi up.
Yugi relaxed in his arms and closed his eyes. His heart still hurt, but that was lessening.
Yami carried him back to his room and laid him on the bed, laying next to him.
Yugi cuddled closer and closed his eyes. It was strange how warm he felt but he was glad.
Yami kissed Yugi's forehead, then blinked. "Aibou, you feel warm."
" 'happy."
"Not that kind of warm, Aibou." Yami felt Yugi's forehead, then his cheek. bsp;bsp;
Yugi murmured and pressed closer.
"How do you feel, Aibou?"
"Better. Happy. Almost ready to live."
Yami stroked Yugi's cheek gently. "I'm glad you're happy, Aibou. But I need to know how you feel physically."
"Warm," Yugi muttered, wrapping his arm around Yami's waist.
Yami hugged the boy close. "Anything else?"
Yugi snuggled in closer, after a few minutes, his breathing evened out into shallow puffs. Sweat beaded on his forehead as in his sleep he rubbed up against Yami.
Yami shook the boy gently. "Yugi, Aibou, wake up."
"'mtired."
"I know, Aibou, but you need to wake up. Hikari, something's not right with you, I can feel it."
Yugi frowned and rolled over on his back. His arms and legs splayed outwards, his chest rose and fell shallowly. His uniform shirt was soaked through with sweat.
Yami reached over and started to unbutton Yugi's shirt. He pulled the damp fabric away, tossing it to the floor. "Hikari, you're burning up!" He stood up and went to the bathroom, getting a washcloth and soaking it with cool water. The spirit returned to the bedroom and laid the cloth on the boy's forehead.
Yugi wiggled at the cool cloth and reached out with one hand on the bed, searching for Yami.
Yami took Yugi's hand and held it gently. "I'm right here, Aibou. I won't leave you."
"p'mis'?"
"Yes, Hikari, I promise you." He sat on the bed and pulled the boy into his arms. "I won't let you go."
Yugi's sweaty, clammy hand slipped from grasp and dropped limply onto the bed. A flush rose up, coloring his cheeks a fierce red.
Yami ran his down Yugi's cheek and neck, stopping when his fingers brushed the chain of the Puzzle. He laid Yugi back on the bed, putting one hand on his forehead and the other on the Sennen Puzzle. His eyes closed as he whispered in Egyptian, the Sennen eyes slowly appearing on his forehead again.
Yugi felt sticky suddenly a fire started at the top of his head and burned its way, roiling and rushing through his system. A beautiful voice started speaking lowly. Yugi struggled to hear what it was saying. In the distance, a soft dark blue light shone, the voice was coming from the center of that light. Yugi ran toward the light, diving into the center. Warmth splashed over him like water, as Yugi broke through, he recognized the voice as Yami's. He let himself float upwards to his lover.
Yami hugged Yugi tight, his own breath coming in short pants, cheeks flushed with the effort of ridding his whole body of the disease.
Yugi opened his eyes and kissed Yami's chin. "Arigatou, Yami-chan."
Yami smiled at the boy, leaning heavily on the wall. 'Anything for you, Hikari."
"Anything?" Yugi smiled sweetly and nuzzled closer.
Yami nodded, eyes falling closed.
Yugi reached up and brushed Yami's hair back. "Ai shiteru, koibito." Tilting Yami's head down, he brushed a soft kiss across his lips. "Sleep well."
Yami sighed, falling into a deep and exhausted sleep
Yugi nodded and curled up on Yami's chest. Yami's heart beat slowly and as Yugi drifted off it spoke to him, 'for-you, for-you, for-you'

"Hai."
* * *

* * *

* * *

The phone rang and Yugi decided to let Ji-chan get it
* * *
* * *
" 'happy."
"Not that kind of warm, Aibou." Yami felt Yugi's forehead, then his cheek. bsp;bsp;
