15 Minute Dreaming Chapter 4: Next Phase
Disclaimer: Yu-Gi-Oh! does not belong me *sob* as much as I would love for it to. It is the property of Kazuki Takahashi, TV Tokyo and Nas..I'm just playing around with the characters. If they really belonged to me, all the male characters would be running around with only loin cloths, Anzu would be comatose, and Mai would be in a skimpy bikini……
Please don't sue. If you do, the only things you'll get are my student loans and dust bunnies from my jeans pocket...

A/N: I’m so happy! ^_______^ I had no idea how much people liked my story. I don’t consider my self much of a writer-I’m an amateur at best-but you guys are the greatest! You give me a lot of encouragement. So, in appreciation, here are the shot outs. I won’t be able to get everyone of course, but be confident that I love all of you reviewers!
Nizuno Mikomi: I know, I know, cliffhangers are the very devil, aren’t they! ‘^_^’
PharaohzQueen45: I, too adore Yami/Yugi couplings….they’re so cute together!
VegetasGurl: that’s how I feel when reading an especially good story!
shadowguardian: Thanks for the complements!
Seventh Sage: I thought that the purring would be sexy….gets one in the mood doesn’t it?
For the rest of my reviewers….Doumo Arigato! I’ll try to live up to your expectations…
Well, it seems a lot of people don’t like the love triangle idea….I always listen to advice! So I won’t put it in…..maybe another story. But I have to finish this one first. Soredewa, onto the story!
I have another story brewing, this time with a triangle! I figured this was a little too couple specific, so the triangle idea probably would be awkward….the next story is a kind of sequel of sorts…not really, but a lot of fun. Not to spoil it, but Igivegive a hint. Yugi has a lot more backbone, is quite short-tempered….I’ll let you imagine the rest….^_~
Just before I start the story, I thought I should mention something…..If you’ve watched the Japanese version of Yu-Gi-Oh!, you’ll notice that during the Duelist Kingdom tournament, Pegasus bet Yugi that if he lost, Yugi would inherit (is that right?) 60% of Industrial Illusions….Guess what? Our Yugi won, so he’s almost as filthy rich as Kaiba….he controls 60% of Pegasus’ company, so he’s technically CEO. I included that in this and my other story, so If I mention anything about that, that is what I’m alluding to…..

/Yami./
// aib aibou?// By this time, Yami was really getting hot and bothered. He tried thinking of something cold, to cool his reactions, but only succeeded in creating mental pictures of him teasing his beloved with ice cubes. He growled in reaction to that picture.
/I love you./
Yami’s hands fell from Yugi’s temple in shock.

Chapter 4: Next Phase….
Yugi witnessed his dark’s reaction. He had decided, in the depths of his heart, a long time ago, to be mature about whatever the outcome of his outburst maybe. If it was rejection-he would live with it-live with the hatred and disgust that his Yami may show him. It would literally kill him, of course, but he would deal with it. On the other hand, if Yami accepted him, well, he’d cross that bridge when he came to it. He refused to run away, behave like a child. He was sixteen, after all, practically an adult. (Though he may not look it.).
While all this was going through Yugi’s mind, Yami, on the other hand, was so shocked, he forgot to be ecstatic. How long, Oh Ra, how long had he wished Yugi was his? He had been hoping, praying for this moment ever since he had realized how much his Light meant to him. This meant Ra had not abandoned him, after all. Yugi loved him? Oh Ra…..
“Yami, say something….Please. Don’t just stand there! I said I loved you! Doesn’t that mean anything at all to you?!” Yugi spoke out loud. He figured this wasn’t the time for mind speech. It may not be realistic, but Yugi felt if he spoke the words out loud, they would become reality. But he got no response from the semi-comatose Poh. oh.
Still in shock, Yami did nothing to alleviate his beloved’s worries. He was still on cloud nine, not noticing that his failure to respond to Yugi’s declaration was weakening the younger boy’s resolve not to cry or run away from what he perceived as his rejection. Still sitting on the stool behind the counter, Yugi looked up at Yami, his large, amethyst-colored eyes beginning to glisten with unshed tears. It was at that moment Yami recovered from his comatose state. He stared down into his beloved Yugi’s eyes in surprise.
“Aibou…what’s wrong? You look like…….”
Yugi didn’t give him time to finish his statement. He promptly jumped off the stool, pushed past his dark and fled upstairs to his room. He needed to be alone to deal with his bruised feelings.
Yami stared confusedly at his Light’s abrupt departure. What in the Underworld was going on? His Light had just fled as if all the hounds of Anubis were at his heels. Yugi did not even give him time to respond to his statement. Yami brushed a hand through his tri-colored locks in abject bemusement. At that moment, he felt a shaft of intense pain lance through his very being. The pain was so intense that he fell on his knees, clutching his heart.
What in the world? Where was this pain coming from?! Yami quickly took stock of his surroundings. There didn’t seem to be any source of outside magic…..His Puzzle was still hanging around his neck; Yugi was…..Great Ra, Yugi! Something was wrong with his precious aibou! Who would dare….Then it hit him. Yami felt like hitting himself. The pain was coming from Yugi. Because of him. Because he had waited too long to acknowledge his Light’s feelings, Yugi thought he had rejected him. Nothing could be further from the truth, of course, but Yami knew he needed to correct the mistaken impression before it was too late. He quickly turned off the light to the shop, stopping only to make sure the “Sorry, Closed, Come Again” sign was turned over. They could tally up today’s proceeds on the morrow. His Light’s needs came first and foremost.
As Yami quickly made his way upstairs towards Yugi’s room, the phone rang. Yami huffed with impatience. He was tempted to let the infernal instrument ring for all it was worth-he never understood mortals’ preoccupation with inventing tools that caused more irritation than they were useful. But he couldn’t ignore it, as much as he wanted to. He had overheard jii-chan state that he was going to call if he was not going to make it home that night. Yugi had recently been teaching him how to operate the infernal modern gadgets mortals this day and age seemed to be obsessed with. A fleet of foot servant would have worked just as well back home in Khemet (1). Mattaku. He picked up the phone as it trilled for the fifth time.
“Mutou desu.”
“Ah, Yami-kun…..”
“Jii-chan?”
“Yes, my boy, it’s me…How are you guys making out? Everything okay? Where’s Yugi?”
Yami paused. How was he going to tell his Light’s grandpa that his darling grandson was busy going through emotional upheaval because of him? Yami decided a little white lie was in order.
“Hello, Jii-chan. We’re making out okay….In fact we just closed the store. It was unexpectedly busy! Everything is fine. I guess Yugi is feeling a little worn out, because he told me he was going upstairs to rest a little because of a headache…..”
“My poor boy….maybe I should come home….I shouldn’t have left you two alone to handle the shop….”
Yami decided to put a stop to that idea. If Sugoroku was home, there was no way in the Underworld he would have the chance to square things away with his beloved Yugi. And no way he would have the opportunity to make sweet love to the object of his affections….Yami secretly hoped that once he and Yugi straightened out the misunderstanding, they would proceed to screw each others brains out like rabbits….There was so much he wanted to teach his precious little one. But Yami figured it would be too soon. Ma, there was all the time in the world for that later. Though he would prefer sooner than later, he was quite willing to wait. He’d cross that bridge when he came to it. For now, he needed to stop Sugoroku from coming home too early and spoiling his plans……
“I don’t think that’s necessary, jii-chan. Everything is fine. Why were you calling, anyway?”
“Ah, I almost forgot! Unfortunately fri friend that I came to visit is feeling under the weather. It seems that I will need to stay a while longer….”
Yami felt like jumping up and whooping. Yes! Some days alone with his Hikari…Oh Ra… the things they were going to do…..Yami made suitable sad noises.
“I’m very sorry to hear that….. I hope he will be okay soon…how is he? Is it serious?”
“A little…so I will be staying to help him out a bit.”
“How long will you be gone?” Yami needed to know….he was only willing to wait to seduce his hikari for only a little while…..
“Sou dana….maybe about a week or longer, depends on how he feels….”
“Sou ka….So, do you want Yugi and I to keep the shop open while you’re gone?”
“Hmm….If you like. I just had new shipments come in, and others ordered. Yugi knows how to deal with the books. So it shouldn’t be a problem. You know what, why don’t I leave the number for where I am? You can call me here if there’s a problem…..” Sugoroku proceeded to leave extensive instructions for the boys on what to do while he was gone. Yami thanked all the Gods in the Egyptian Parthenon that Yugi had bothered to teach him the Japanese number and writing system. It hadn’t been at all hard to learn. He had always been excellent at math, and Egyptian hieroglyphs were similar to the Japanese writing system, at least the Kanji, since they tended to represent concepts, not just words.
“If you or Yugi need money, just take the amount you need from the register,” Sugoroku continued. “He also knows where the ATM card for the bank account is. I’ll call back later to see how he’s feeling…..”
“Wakatta. I’ll give Yugi the message. You take care now, jii-chan and don’t worry about a thing. We’ll take care of everything.” Yami reassured Sugoroku.
“Yosh! Very well. Thank you, my boy. And Yami?” Sugoroku continued as he remembered something he almost forgot to say.
“Yes, jii-chan?”
“I’m glad you’re there with Yugi. At least he won’t be alone….Take care of him, will you?”
Yami smiled. “I promise.”
“Good! Then I’ll be going. Don’t forget to tell Yugi to get something to eat. He tends to forget.”
“I will, jii-chan. Go take care of your friend, now. I hope he gets better soon.”
“I hope so, too. I’ll call tomorrow to see how you boys are making out. Goodnight, my boy.”
“Goodnight, Jii-chan.” Yami responded, smiling to himself in affection and placing the phone back in its cradle. It was clear where Yugi inherited his loving and gentle nature. Sugoroku was a very good man. It was plain to all and sundry how much he doted on and loved his grandson. Yugi was his only living descendant. All they had was each other, until Yami came along. Yami sighed. Enough of that. He needed to go to his aibou and clear up the misunderstanding between them. The sooner he did this, the sooner he could hold and kiss his beloved to oblivion. Yami smirked. He just knew love-making with Yugi was going to be phenomenal. The boy was just too passionate and beautiful for his own good……
Upstairs in his room, Yugi was on his bed, sobbing his eyes out. He loved Yami so much. Granted, it had taken him forever to admit to himself, much less his Yami. How could he, when he felt like such a jerk? It wasn’t that long ago that he had a crush on Anzu. But after all he and Yami had been through together, the feelings he had held for Anzu seem so…so…tame in comparison to what Yami made him feel now. Yugi sat up in his bed, wiped his eyes and folded his slim legs to his body, head on his knees. He supposed he was bi-sexual, then. Not that he had a problem with it. He never actually thought of himself as exclusively gay. His philosophy was that one should find love wherever one could. If you found love with a woman, good. The advantage- you could have children to cement that love. If you found love with a guy, fine-with technology nowadays, one could have a baby implanted within a willing participant to act as surrogate to bear the child. These were issues he had thought long and hard about. But now, all his dreams, fantasies and hopes were crashing and burning. For a brief moment, Yugi wondered what a child between him and Yami would look like. Would the baby look exactly like them? Maybe, maybe not-he and Yami may look a lot alike (personally, Yugi didn’t see the resemblance, so it always fascinated him how people could mistake them for each other) but they didn’t share the same blood….but who knew? He once recalled his jii-chan mentioning that a distant ancestor of theirs had hailed from Eqypt. Anyway, it was possible their baby could have red or blond hair-he had some red and blond in his hair, but his mother’s was totally red, while his dad’s had been blond and black. He would’ve loved for their child to have Yami’s eyes, though. Red eyes akin to fire, or rubies. Beautiful, sexy, breathtaking eyes.
Yugi began to cry again. No matter how much he wished it, it would never happen now. Yami had rejected him. No experiencing his dark’s fantastic, sexy body next to his. No chance to taste those lips of his. No chance to be held by the one he realized he wanted most in the world. Now, all that was left for him wast tht that. Wondering…..wondering about what it might have been like.
Outside the room, Yami paused briefly, hand on the door. The intense feelings he was getting from his hikari had him almost weeping and prostrate from the pain. He hadn’t known! He hadn’t realized the depth and intensity of his Light’s feelings for him. Yugi had forgotten to shut down their link, and all the pain, sorrow and regret Yugi was feeling was pouring into him, directly into his soul. At that moment, Yami knew, with every fiber of his being, that he would love Mutou Yugi forever. He was sure he had never felt this way about anyone before. Leaning against the wall beside the door, Yami breathed deeply, calming himself and his raging need for the diminutive angel inside the room. Straightening, Yami breathed deeply again and proceeded to push the door open. It was time he claimed what was his……Forever.
