Chapter 4: Dinning Out

It is now two weeks after the party and summer is into full swing. The Kiba brothers are walking up to a new trendy resturant next to the mall. Three of out gang have jobs here; summer can be exspensive. Joey as a waiter, Yugi as a bust boy, and Tea as a hostess.

Tea was working at her station when she hard a young voice call out "Hey Tea" and then she was enveloped in a bear hug from someone shorter that her.

"Hello Mokabu. How are you tonight little brother?" she asked as she bent down and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"You know I will be old enough for you someday, and I am going to marry you then."

Tea just blushed and andsmiled at the younger boy. She did not know how to handle Mokabu's crush on her so she took it in stride and hoped he would get over it someday.

"Mokabu go wash your hands while we wait for our table.'

"Fine, BUt hands off Tea she's mine."

"Whatever you say little brother."

After the little boy had gone off Tea and Kiba looked at each other and both burst out laughing. "Well at least I know that the family line will go on with him."

"That's on way to look at it Seto. So is it just the two of you tonight?"

"Three, Serenity wanted to see Joey at work and she needed a break from twedeldee and twedeldumb. (1) She is meeting us here. Ahh there she is."

"Hey Seto, Tea. Than goodness I'm away from the fighting babies. They are driving me nuts!."

"Oh sure you have two hotties chasing you and I can't keep one." Said Tea sarcasticly.

"Marik still being a jerk?"

"That would be an understatement. I'll go see if your table is ready?"

Serenity and Kiba watched her walk off "What did Marik do now?"

Serenity rolled her eyes. "Last week Yugi, Tea, Ryou, and I decided to go to the new dance move that you men's men refused to see. Malik called Yugi's cell when we where on our way there. Whn we got to the theater Malik was waiting for us."

"So"

"Marik and Bakura were outside waiting when we got out of the movie. Tea and Malik were the last two out, they were talking and laughing and didn't notice Marik standing there. Marik freaked! He grabbed Malik and pushed him behind him and started yelling at Tea. He raised his fist to hit her, but Bakura stepped inbetween them and took the hit. He told Marik that the first one was free with the next one he would stomp Marik's ass into the ground."

"What is he doing? Malik and Tea have been friends for ever. His he trying to break up their friendship?"

"I guess? Who knows? She was so upset and with her parents being out of town she spent the night at Yugi's."

Tea and Mokabu walked back up at the same time ending the conversation.

"Ok guys follow me. Joey will be your server tonight. Have a pleasent meal."

As soon as she walked off Joey walked up to the table. "Good evening My name is Joey and I will be your server tonight" He winked "what can I get you to drink?"

"Diet coke for me big brother."

"Mokabu will have water, Coffee and a glass of water for me."

"Ok I'll be right back with your drinks"

Kiba watched every step Joey took as he left the table. 'graceful and beautiful. How can everynot see how beautiful he is.'

"You know Seto you might burn a hole in Joey's pants if you keep staring at his ass like that." Mokabu said teasingly. Kiba blushed.

"You know it must be hard to be in love with someone when they are dating somebody else." Kiba's blush deepened.

"Of course I could have it easy like you do Serenity and have two fools fighting over me."

Mokabu started giggeling, then the other two started laughing. "Whats so funny?" asked Joey as he started to set their drinks down. Seto turnrd red agian and serenity chocked on her laughter.

"Seto and Serenity are comparing their surreal love lives."

"Surreal" Joey smirked "Pretty big wird for a Jr, Higher."

"Ha ha. Funny Joey" With their drinks Joey also brought out chips with chili-queso dip. Mokabu grabed a chip and ate it.


"Ok guys here's the deal. New head cook. Let me order for you."

"You won't poison us will you?"

"Trust me Seto. I'll make it good for you."

'Does he know what he just said to me' Kiba thought as he felt the heat rise up hos neck 'make it good for me indeed.'

"Fine Joey we'll trust you."

"Good I'll go but the orders in."

As soon as Joey was out of hearing range. "Seto if you were any redder you would look like a tomato with a body." Teased Mokabu.

Seto just looked down at the table and shook his head.

Serenity took a sip from her drink and said "So Mokuba when do you leave for computer camp?"

Meanwhile back in the order area Joey was waiting his turn in line 'I can't belive I said that he must think I'm an idiot.' he thought to himeself 'and he blushed who thought that Seto Kiba could be sexy while blushing. I have got to get it together.'

Tea walked back to the area. "Joey do you think you couild take another table. Mia and some guy. She asked for you."

"Great. It must be the college boyfriend." he said with a frown

"Huh? College boyfreind? You know about him."

"She called me and told me about him whe they started going out."

"I do not understand you relationship."

"Nether do I Tea, nether do I."

The next fifthteen minutes were a blur for Joey as he waited on his coustomers and filled orders. He had established a rhythem by his second night working there. Drinks, orders, refills and check on up orders, then bring the food. He was fun, he flirted when needed. None of his coustomers had to wait for refills and extras when they needed them. He made enough in tip that bust staff and teh hostesses were happy whe he worked because he got big tips which means that they got more money because of tip sharing. So they went out of their way to help their favorite waiter.
When Kiba's tables food was readyJoey brought it ou to the table. For Serenity he chose a grilled shrimp salad, Kiba prime rib with a baked potato and steamed vegetables, and for Mokabu cajun chicken fingers with fries and a small side salad.

"Salad? There is no way that you thought I wanted a salad."

Joey looked at the boy and pointed his index finger at him. "No salad no desert."

"Joey's right Mokabu." said Kiba to his younger brother.

"You see if your brother and I agree with each other there is know way you could win this battle."

"Fine" Mokabu pouted.

The three at their dinner in near silence. Untill Tea walked up to their table with a salad and glass of water in her hands.

"I'm off. Can I sit down and eat with you guys?"

Seto answered by pudhing the chair next to him out from under the table with his foot. Tea sat down with her salad and started to eat.

"So who is the guy sitting with my brother's girlfriend?"

"Where?" Mokabu asked

"Behind Seto."

Seto turned around to see what they were talking about and was suprized by what hw saw. Mia was sitting at a table with another man who looked as if he was in his 20's. He could see their profiles and the guy was holing her hand as they talked. He kept staring as he listened to the others talk. Without knowing it he had the famous Kiba scowl on his face.

"Does Joey know?"

"Yes he's waiting on them. I told him that I didn't understand their relationship. He called the other guy the 'college boyfriend'."

"So what's Joey? The hometown fuck?" Asked an angry Mokabu

"Mokabu!" Kiba and Tea asmonished at the same time whiile Serenity laughted.

Kiba when back to staring at the couple. ;Joey deserves better than this.' he thought to himself. Mia must have felt something because she looked up and then over. when her eyes met Kiba's she turned red and froze.

"Why?" Kiba mouthed to her

She shook her head as if to clear it and mouthed back "None of your business."

"Seto" said a soft, low male voice, "Please let it be for now. I can handle it and I like this job."

Kiba turned around looked at Joey, his eyes softening "You deserve better."

"Maybe but this is what I have right now."

"We will talkabout this later Joey."

"Whatever Seto." He rolled his eyes, then he smiled "Ok what's for desert."

"None for me." Said Serenity

"Pick something for me Joey." Mokabu

"Me too" Kiba

"I'll be right back."

Five minutes later Joey was back with three deserts. He brought a bowl of fruit for Serenity and Tea. For Mokabu he brought out a hot brownie with vanilla icecream and strawberries, for Kiba he brought a a very rich chacolette mouse. Kiba paid for the meal then and Joey brought back his change.

After the four had finished, they left leaving a large tip for Joey. with the tip was a note for Joey.

Joey,

Since Mia is busy tonight come over to my place. I'll be up working.
