A Home of Our Own
Summary: Kimi ga Iru AU. Neko fic Nya nya
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-gi-oh. If I did…*begins to laugh evilly*
Warning: Yugi cries. More than usual.
Author’s Note: I apologize for any plot disparities you may have found. I found a few when I went back to read some things...I’m sorry. They’re not like super major but I did notice them and apologize for writing from the hip and not being all careful and checking back... ;___;
But, I was re-reading and I cracked up reading Chapter 16 when Yugi was imitating Bakura’s laugh. It was SUCH a cute moment...that Yami just had to ruin. DAMN YOU YAMI!
Oh, oh, I also promise you more smut in the new year. I promise. Also...do I owe anyone a One-Shot? *blinks*
Oh Seto...
Yugi snickered to himself over his lunch. Last night had been ridiculous. Ridiculously fun. Going with Marik to the liquor store had been so hilarious. They’d gone in and the attendant asked if Yugi was even twenty-one when Marik started getting all these things off the shelf. After, he’d tried a little of everything and just wound up laughing for most of the night and clinging to Marik for dear life as they joyrided all over the city. After, he’d gone to bed with a smile on his face at three a.m.
Sure he’d had a really hard time getting up and Shadi asking why he smelled like alcohol, but he’d just giggled and brushed his hair.
And now...
Yugi bit into the other half of his submarine sandwich, extremely pleased when the office called to say his lunch had been “delivered”. He’d brought Kitty bento as always but after he read the note in the bag he’d gotten happier.
Marik brought him lunch! Yay!
He ate some chips and licked his fingers, not minding at all that for once, he was eating lunch by himself in the corner of the room. Marik was with his new friends, his Kikumaru Eiji and his Kurama and that girl Usagi who Yugi swore had to be some sort of Bunny EFC...or something.
He sipped his soda and gazed out the window.
It was only the third day of school and his happiness had gone up by...like a million percent!

The den was not “the Den” anymore. Not really with just him living here. The place was empty and the smells were fading.
Otogi lay in the room formerly claimed by Jou, watching the television with disinterest. He had no idea what he was going to do. It’s not like he couldn’t find food for himself or stay out of trouble...it was just that he was lonely.
Completely lonely.
It’s not like he hadn’t always dreamed of some family growing to love him. Once when he was a kitten he used to have dreams about a little boy or girl wanting him...but that couldn’t happen now. He wasn’t too cute now...and he looked a little feral and more on the sexy side than cute.
He flicked his tail and closed his eyes.
If I’m going to find a home I guess I should just get out there and go for it right?
Otogi laughed then as he pictured himself on a street corner meowing for his supper with a sign that said, “Free to a good home with lots of food!”
He yawned and stretched, turning off the tv. He’d start searching tonight.
Right now, he needed to catch up on his fourteen hours...or was it sixteen?

Dartz walked the halls of the expansive Kaiba estate wondering where exactly Seto would be putting the Alabaster brothers. Maybe if they were close enough he’d have a chance to see Ryou.
He’d finally been sly enough to get the name out of his brother, realizing that he’d known it all along and forgotten. He hated forgetting things. It made him feel slightly stupid and Seto knew this. And rubbed it in.
In anycase...now he’d get to see his Kitty...
Dartz stopped cold.
What?!

Seto decided working from home was best this week as Bakura kept popping up and pumping him for information. He didn’t want anymore incidents at the office involving near death experiences by his staff.
He figured Bakura would show up sometime by the end of the week. He’d been returning the papers slowly, one by one as he got more information.
He’s worried...but if it involved Mokuba, I’d act the same. I have to tell him today...
He wondered how Noa would react to another Neko in the house...maybe he could learn from Bakura.
Seto stopped himself. That was the last thing he needed. Gangster Kitten from hell...
He looked over the email one more time and secretly wished Bakura would pop up on him now. He was in need to distraction...
And he’d looked up Neko cosplay and was stunned and had to quickly click away from the page, his face red. He wasn’t into Neko cosplay....unless Bakura wanted him to be...
Seto coughed hard suddenly, shaking his head.

He decided that he should get back to work. Fast.

Yugi packed his books and began to leave the building, Malik catching up with him. “Hey, wanna come over later? We’re all going to study together then go to the movies or something. Kurama’s coming!”
Yugi’s ears swivelled. “I thought you had that stray Neko.”
Malik laughed. “Sure I do, but Kurama’s hot and good at Algebra.”
They went outside and Malik’s ears perked up. “Marik? I told him Ishizu was driving us.”
Sure enough, Ishizu’s car was parked close to Marik’s bike and the two were talking. Yugi just smiled to himself and walked away from Malik over to the older Neko.
“Hi!” He chirped.
Marik grinned at him, watching Malik stare and be ushered in Ishizu’s care out of the corner of his eye. “What’s up?”
“You came to get me?”
“Yeah...told Shadi to relax a little. And besides, pulling an unmarked van to a school...would be inappropriate.”
Yugi just smiled, wiggling his tail behind him. “Thanks for lunch.”
“Figured you like that. What’d you do with your Kitty bento?”
“I ate it.” Yugi just stood there, beaming. Other Neko’s and Inu’s milled around, going home or blatantly watching the Kitten talk to the obviously older and dangerous looking Egyptian Golden.
“So...you wanna come with me today? Got somewhere to show you.”
“Okay!”
Marik got on and Yugi hopped on behind him, leaning his head against his back.
“Chibi!”
“Meow?”
“You know they’re all watching huh?”
“Yup!”
And with that they sped off, leaving gossip in their dust.
The ride was a long one, even though Marik was doing ten over any speed limit. When they stopped, Yugi got off and stretched, looking at the abandoned house.
“What’s this?”
“I”m gonna fix it up and it’ll be mine. What do you think?”
Yugi absently kicked the mailbox, which quickly surrendered. “I think you need to fix it.”
“No shit. I was walking around inside yesterday and I heard mice.”
“Mice are nice!” Yugi giggled and kicked the already wounded mailbox again. “You need paint and maybe those people off tv who surprise you with a bullhorn!”
Marik laughed and went to hug Yugi who side stepped away, smiling mysteriously.
“Yugi?”
“Whatty?”
Marik went for him again and Yugi jumped away, going up to the porch. “Bet it’s full of spiders...”
The other Neko joined him. “Surprisingly no...did find a few stray cats in here...took those to the Center, some bats in the chimney and some birds in the attic. That was wild, they all flew off when I went up there, there’s a HUGE hole in the roof too. I put tarp over it.”
“Cool...” the boy whispered, pressing the doorbell, which amazingly worked.
“So, what do you think?”
“It’s kinda cool...” He kicked the door and it fell off its hinges, making Marik wince.
“Yeah...uh...I gotta fix that. But I figure...once I get my independent Neko license...I can get a place of my own.”
Yugi scratched his head. “Would Malik want to move?”
“Ah...wasn’t thinking about Malik...” Marik grabbed Yugi then, holding him close. “So...this place is kinda cool?”
“And spooky...I think I just saw an owl.” Yugi looked off the porch a little to see the orange sky. “Sundown.”
They stood there a while and Yugi felt Marik’s hands under his shirt, the boy’s claws lightly scraping over his stomach. He blushed a little and murmured, “Stop” and Marik did. They went back to the motorcycle and the older Neko looked over his shoulder.
“You wanna go home?”
“Yami’s making dinner again. He does that now.”
“Then he leaves huh?”
Yugi nodded, hugging the boy as he started up the motorcycle. “Yeah, but I figure, once Grandpa comes home, it won’t matter.”
“Yeah sure...” Marik kicked up the stand and they were off again.

Otogi stretched in the alley and decided he’d just pick a general direction. Who knows what you could find when you weren’t looking.
Malik hadn’t come by in a while, that worried him a little, but hey, Malik was a house Neko. It happened.
He wasn’t paying much attention and before he knew it, the night was in full swing. The street lights and crush of the night time city bothered him a little, but no one seemed to notice or care about the stray Kuro Neko looking in windows and occasionally picking a pocket here and there.
So far he hadn’t scored too much, but then too, he was out of practice. Jou hated for him to do this, but he’d never minded. He’d had to do this as a child before he’d met Jou or anyone else just so he could survive and sure, he’d gotten caught, but when a kid turns on the water works, who’s going to arrest him and take him to Neko Lock up?
His ears picked up when he heard a familiar beat of music in the air. How could he forget.
The Entertainment district.
He was born in this place, among the Neko prostitutes and gambling slobs who just couldn’t quit. He figured his mother was one or the other or both and that’s why he’d been abandoned and not raised. It didn’t bother him much, but he figured if anything he had her skills.
He held his head up a little higher here, paid a bit more attention and got a bit more attention.
As he walked on for about an hour, he’d been propositioned five times and he didn’t even work in that industry. He used a bit of his cash to do a little street gambling and picked up a bit more, looking over the street wares and the tourist trap booths, forgetting his objective, but knowing he’d probably never find a home down here unless it was in a Cat house.
He headed out of the lower end and made his way, literally by crossing the street to the upscale casino area, the places where if you didn’t look right, you might not get in. He didn’t watch the sidewalks for dropped cash here and kept his eyes to himself. Sometimes if they even caught you looking for a mark they’d take you in.
Otogi’s ears perked when he heard a din in the alley. Someone was arguing. It wasn’t his business, but it didn’t sound violent. Maybe if someone was knocked out he could search the body or at least he’d find a good trash can or two. He got closer and listened.
“We can’t do the show with out him.”
“Well, I’m not doing it. I’m not paid to do that. I’m the assistant.”
“We can’t do it without Mamoru!”
The female voice shrieked in frustration. “Hello, Mamoru quit! Mahado, we go on in two hours! Where are we going to find another Kuro?”
“Calm down Mana...just calm down.”
Otogi was straining so hard to hear he didn’t bother with the trash can in his way. It fell over and he fell over, cursing softly.
“Who’s there?”
The footsteps came swiftly and Otogi hissed at the lights in his eyes. He stood and shielded his eyes. “Stop it!”
“Mahado-san!”
“I know...young man, what are you doing here?”
Otogi gave a growl and moved swiftly, pointing the flashlight at the ground. “Getting blinded!” He hissed in the man’s face. “Who the hell are you?”
He felt someone touching his tail and jerked it away. “No thanks Lady!”
The blond girl clapped. “Kuro Neko, Kuro Neko! Say kid, how’d you like to be in show business?”
Otogi just blinked and Mahado turned off his flashlight. “Yes indeed. How do you feel about show business?”
“What?” was all he could say before he was escorted inside of a large trail marked, “THE DARK MAGICIAN”.

Mokuba put the brush down and looked at Seto. “New pets?”
“Not...exactly Mokuba...the Alabaster brothers will sitll be functioning independent Nekos under this roof, however, if all goes well, they will be working under me as the newest members of the FFFC.”
The boy shrugged. “That seems cool.” He hugged Noa around the neck. “Won’t that be fun Pretty? Two new friends!”
Noa gave a cheerful meow but seemed worried. Seto stroked his head.
“Don’t worry Noa, no one is forcing them on you and vice versa. They’ll be living in a whole other part of the house.”
Mokuba groaned. “Aw man, you mean I have to go all the way over to the south wing?”
“Actually, they’re in the North wing. Do you want them in the south wing?”
“Can’t you just put them here with us? They’ll be closer and I can play with them!”
Seto wanted to say yes and at the same time...Bakura wasn’t a “playful” Neko like Mokuba thought...though having the Alabaster close to him was appealing...
He coughed suddenly, waving away his thoughts. “I’ll think about it.”
“YES!” the boy cried, hugging Noa tightly. “More friends!”
“Nya!” Noa turned and nuzzled him.
Seto left, happy that his brother was happy and yet...

*Oh Seto, you DOG!
*Lol! I enjoyed this very much and will be having an update with Shizuka for you next chapter as well as more Otogi, Honda, and Noa Mokuba. I know I just always have pieces of them, but next chapter it will be a NoaMoki centric excerpt as opposed to “Interaction with Seto” time.
*Sequel to all that “We Gonna Do this” business? ^w^ I most certainly would if people really wanted it.
