Nazo no Kisu (Mysterious Kiss)

Welcome to Chapter 29 and the finale of Nazo no Kisu. A special thanks to all of those who read this
fic. I really hope you enjoyed all I put into it. A very very special thanks to those who took a minute or
two to share your opinions, thoughts, and reviews of my fic. They are greatly appreciated! You all are
the best! In this chapter, POV starts from the reader, then to Yugi and back to the reader. Now, as we
left off in the previous chapter, both Yugi and Atemu decided to go and surprise each other for
Christmas...

Readers: I sincerely apologize for this. When I finally got this chapter opened, half of it was deleted and
I had to rewrite the ending over. O_O I think I have it the way it was before. So, thank you very much
for your patience!

Chapter 29: "A Love that Never Dies"

(AN: I am in my secret hiding place where you will never ever find me!) ;)

*Reader's POV*
"Yugi, why are you so excited? It's Christmas Eve, not Christmas Day!" comments Jou as he tries to
figure out the smile that's covering his best friend's face.

"I'm going to see Atemu for Christmas!" exclaims Yugi.

"What?! Really? And I'm just finding out today!" replies Jou. "Does he know you're coming?"

Yugi shakes his head and smiles even wider.

"I bet he's going to be so surprised when he sees you! So, when are you leaving?"

"In another hour or so! I'm staying until New Year's Eve."

Yugi springs from the bed and a small box drops on the floor. Jou sees it and scrambles to his knees.

Yugi notices the box on the floor and fights to get it back from Jou.

"Ahh, so what's this?" asks Jou who picks up the box and stretches as high as he can go.

Yugi jumps up and down as high as he can, trying to recover the mysterious puzzle-shaped box from
his friend.

"It's mine...Jounouchi! Give it...back!" pleads Yugi as his face begins to turn red.

"You're blushing. Now I'm really curious as to what's in this box."

Yugi gets tired and flops on the bed.

"I don't care, you can open it." pants Yugi.

Jou looks at the upside-down pyramid-shaped box carefully. (AN: I couldn't resist.)

"Wow, really?! I can open this. What is it?"

Yugi looks at him oddly. 'If I gave you permission to open it, then why are you still asking what it is?'

Jou opens the box and takes out the item inside.

"It's...it's beautiful!" Jou says observing the small sparkling object.

"I'm going to give that ring to him." Yugi says then turns away.

Jou's attention quickly turns to Yugi who is now even redder than before.

Yugi gasps as Jou touches his shoulder. Jou spins Yugi around and looks into his face.

"That's so sweet of you Yugi." Jou says as he tilts Yugi's face upward.

Yugi looks at Jou and sees his warm, comforting smile.

'Don't look at me like that... You remind me of Atemu.'

"It's just a promise ring, Jounouchi." stutters Yugi.

"A promise ring?! Do you plan on marrying him or something?!" exclaimes Jou.

Yugi shies back a little.

"I don't know... I just want to give him that as a promise...iya...a guarantee that I will always love him,
no matter what."

(Alexandria, Egypt)
Seth is helping Atemu pack his bags.

"You have so much to pack!" Seth says.

"I can't help it." replies Atemu. "I'm moving a lot of my stuff back to Domino...for good."

"For good... You're leaving me once again..."

"No Seth! Don't think like that."

Atemu's door opens.

"Ibn, it's almost time for you to leave." Atemu's father informs him.

"Ok, I'll be ready soon."

He nods and shuts the door.

"I think that's everything Seth." he says. "Wait, is the box packed?"

Seth looks at him oddly.

"What box?"

"The pramid-shaped box. There's something special in it."

Seth looks around and sees the small box on the dresser. He gets up and gets it and hands it to
Atemu. He feels around the box and opens it, revealing a small alexandrite ring. Atemu picks up
the ring and holds it in front of him.

"It...it's gorgeous Atemu!" exclaims Seth as he takes the ring from Atemu and looks at it closely. "Is
it for..."

"Yea." replies Atemu as he finishes Seth's thought. "I'm going to give it to him."

"Engagement?"

"No, not yet. Just a promise ring. A promise to him that I will always love him, no matter what."
Atemu says feeling around the box. "Where is it?! Where's the ring?!"

Seth starts laughing.

"What's so funny Seth? Where's the ring?!"

Seth opens his hand and places Atemu's hand in it.

"That wasn't funny Seth!"

"Your memory lapses will never cease to amuse me!" Seth says as he tries to regain control of himself.

"Shut up Seth. Just shut up." says Atemu as he places the ring into the box and closes it.

"But, I will never forget the day you came out of your room naked and you thought you had put your
clothes on!" exclaims Seth as he laughs even louder.

Atemu pouts, then starts laughing also.

"Seth? Atemu? It's time to leave." Seth's father says as he grabs a few of Atemu's bags.

Atemu grabs hold to Seth's clothing and they go to the car. Seth's father, Akunadin drives to the
airport.

Atemu, along with his father, does the necessary procedures and passport check.

"Well, I will see you, dad on New Year's Day." Atemu says to his father.

"I'm going to miss you Atemu." Akunadin says embracing his nephew.

Atemu looks at Seth who looks like he's about ot shed every tear in his body. He backs away from his
uncle.

"Seth?" says Atemu as Seth walks over to him.

"I don't want you to leave. I'm going to miss you too much." replies Seth.

"You can always come to visit me in Japan, and you know I will be back in June and July for the break."

'It's not that... I have a bad feeling about something Atemu. I don't know what it is. It's been bugging me
all morning. You shouldn't go.'

"I feel like you're leaving me forever Atemu."

Atemu smiles. "We will always talk on the phone and write letters. Hell, you're acting worse than Yugi
when I left Domino."

Seth smiles. "Have fun!"

"I will!"

'Flight 369 to Domino City, Japan will be leaving in 5 minutes. Passengers, please board the plane
immediately.'

Atemu sighs.

"Well, I guess that's my cue. Sayonara for now!" Atemu says as a stewardess escorts him to the plane.

(Domino International Airport)
Yugi, his family, and Jou are saying their goodbyes for the week.

"Bring us more souveniers Yugi." Mrs. Mutou asks him.

"I will."

"Tell Atemu and Seth that I hope to see them soon." says Jou.

"I will. I will see you all on New Year's Eve!" Yugi says running through the gate and on the plane.

**Yugi's POV**
Smooth takeoff, comfortable seat, and here comes the food!

"Here you are sir, Noodles and Shrimp." the stewardess says handing me the bowl.

I eat and fall asleep watching the movie, Shrek 2.

Shrek 2...that brings back memories.

"Aibou? Aibou? Wake up!"

I open my eyes to see Atemu smiling at me. He takes me into his arms and his kiss, sends me directly
to my happy place.

We break the kiss and I noticed that I haven't left my happy place. By now I would have descended
back into reality.

"Don't worry about that Aibou. We're together now and that's all that matters."

I smile at him before he reaches into his pocket.

"I have something for you." he says as he reveals a small pyramid-shaped box... He didn't!

He opens the box to reveal a small alexandrite ring. Identical to the one I have for him. He removes
the ring and places it on my ring finger.

By this time, I'm crying.

"I love you, Aibou." he says as he wipes the tears from my face.

I stop crying enough to take a box from my pocket.

"Aibou...you didn't!" he exclaims as his waterworks begin once more.

"I give you this ring...as a symbol of our love Atemu, and my guarantee that I will always love you." I
say placing the ring on his finger.

We kiss once more, our faces soaked in tears, our hearts drenched in each other's love.

"Aishiteru'yo, Aibou."

"Aishiteru'yo, Atemu."

(Domino City, Japan: Mutou Residence)
*Reader's POV*
Yugi's parents are watching the evening news.

"Yugi's growing up so fast."

"We have to learn to let him go, Ashita. He's 18-years-old now."

"Yea Masanori, I know."

*beep beep beep*
'This is a Domino News Network special report!'

Sugoroku comes into the living room. "Is this a weather bulletin? It's clear outside."

"Good evening. This is Kanika Hajimashi with Domino News Network here to bring you an exclusive
report. About an hour ago, flights 369 and 963 crashed in mid-air killing everyone on board."

"369...Yugi's flight..."

"It is also a trageic day in the duel monsters world as on board flight 369 was Duel King, Yugi
Mutou..."

(Alexandria, Egypt: Ikhras Residence)
"...and on board flight 963 was Atemu Ikhras."

Atemu's mother, Isis has fainted. Akunumkanon, Seth, Taha, and Akunadin are trying to wake her
without completely losing it themselves.

'I had a feeling. I knew he shouldn't have boarded that flight. It's too late now, Seth...'

"We now have a live feed from field correspondent, Nina Mujaki. Nina."

A second window comes on the screen.

"Thank you Kanika. I am here near Kathmandu, Nepal, the approximate place where the two planes
crashed."

"Nina, do you or officials know what could have caused the two planes to crash?"

"Nothing is known at the present time. Officials suspect it could be anything from poor weather
conditions to miscommunication."

(Domino City, Japan)
Friends, family, and media have gathered outside the Mutou Residence. Each trying desperately to
get inside to console the family...but they care not to be bothered.

"So what does the scene look like now?"

"As you can see behind me, the 'shower' of debris and charred bodies are still falling. But is has
significantly lightened up since we first arrived, 15 minutes ago. Officials are warning everyone to
stay inside or a steady shelter until further notice. Also, along with the 300+ that have died from
the crash, about 15 people have been injured from falling debris of the two planes."

"Nina, I understand that you have some footage to show to our viewers."

"Hai, can you give me one moment please. Some are current, and some are from when we first
arrived."

Scenes of the 'shower' of debris and charred bodies are shown. Also, the damage that has been
done due to the 'shower.'

The camera pans around the ground to show burning plane parts and the charried bodies of Yugi
and Atemu, laying next to each other. On their ring fingers, the small glisten of the rings can be
seen and between their hands are the necklace with the inscription:
'Yugi and Atemu: A Love that Never Dies'.
