Chapter 3
Yusei woke up the next morning, his back and wings stiff. He sat up, having slept on his stomach to avoid damaging his wings and stretched out his back. He decided to see if he instinctively would know how to move his wings. He thought about extending them to stretch them out, and he was pleasantly surprised when both wings extended to the fullest just by thinking about it. Himuro walked in just then.
“Whoa, Yusei! Damn, those things are huge!” he exclaimed. Yusei chuckled.
“Well, they do have to carry nearly 200 pounds of bone and muscle,” he said. Himuro laughed.
“How much do you weigh?” he wondered.
“Well, since I live in the Satellite, there’s no medical records, but there is a doctor who lives with my foster mother, and based off my last physical with him, I should be around 180 now,” Yusei said.
“Brain like a computer...” Himuro mumbled, turning back to the kitchen where his coffee had finished brewing. Yusei stood up, looking around. His D-wheel was in the far corner of the room. Yusei wondered if he’d still be able to ride it. Rua and Ruka were still asleep in the one bedroom, Yanagi was sawing logs in the other. Himuro had taken the loveseat, obviously not wanting to disturb Yusei.
The young angel headed for the door, calling out to Himuro, “Tell the others that I’m going to see how Jack’s doing.”
“Okay, see ya, Yusei!” Himuro called, and Yusei shut the door.
Upon stepping out onto the street, Yusei grabbed the attention of everyone with sight. They gasped in awe that the new King from the Satellite was more than human. Yusei ignored them and extended his wings like before, earning more gasps and shouts of delighted surprise. He beat his wings a couple of times before taking off from the ground, soaring toward the hospital closest to the Dual Stadium where Jack would be.
