Chapter 3
Reviews
Catti: A little late to respond to this. But I will anyway~ No, she wasn't in FL that week. But I do believe she is down here in FL this week. (the weird thing is I'm probably going to see her at Disney and not even realize it's her) ^-^ Anyway! Hehe. Yeah, I don't know where Keith + Yugi = Brothers came from. It was just something my muse threw at me and I was like. 'Hey! That might work!' And because of that one little idea the whole story idea I originally had has flown out the window, and been replaced by something even better!
MewMew2: Last week I would have said I want to see where this fic goes as well. But my muse is being very nice to me and actually gave me the whole plot line for this story. So I hope this chapter is just as interesting as the last ^-^ and thanks for reading.
Shamise: Hehe, That's something I can agree with you on. Besides Anzu and Honda, Keith is someone who has to die. BUT! He is such an awesome bad guy that he always shows up in another fanfic later on just because. ^-^ And you're welcome! And here's another update! And this chapter is even longer then the last one~ (about two or three pages longer if I am not mistaken)
Right_Read_Time: ^-^ thanks. I didn't know where the plot was going before. But my muse is being really nice to me now and is giving me enough inspiration to get an outline written for this fanfic, my book that I'm writing, and I'm poking at my muse to see if she wants to be really super nice and give me a plot outline for Yami's and Hikari's ^-^
Dragonlady222: Yeah, Yugi is so abused. And now it's time for Ryou and Malik to get more of a role in this fanfic~ time to abuse them too!!! *evil laugh* uh-oh right. ^-^ And yes, you're right. Keith was with Yami mainly because of Yugi.
Berry: And what else would it be? ^-^ It's not a proper Yugioh fanfic if it doesn't have even just a LITTLE bit of Yami/Yugi. (and that's a second vote for Keith's death) ^-^ I'll see what I can do.
Tavi: WOOHOO! Hehe, I know what you mean. I actually hadn't been on here in almost two years before I started writing and posting Yugioh fanfics again. (glad it didn't take YOU that long to make a grand reappearance) And I'm glad you're hooked on this story! And I think this one has 'That feel' to it because I'm taking my time with the plot. Where as the other one I wrote, I think I kinda rushed through the plot. And don't worry, I am continuing this one. Hehe, I love your reaction towards Keith. But he still has a lot more evilness to accomplish before he gets what's coming to him. So sit back and enjoy Keith abusing and torturing our favorite characters~

Endless Dream
By Yami Kitsune
Chapter three
The next day at school Yami was actually early, mainly due to the fact that Bakura and Marik had crashed at his place the night before and had dragged him to school. Bakura grumbling the whole way that he had to show up early at least because he knew he'd get an earful from Ryou once he did get there. And sure enough they had just arrived at school when they spotted not only Ryou, but Malik waiting for their boyfriends.
"Were have you been Bakura? I tried calling you last night and first the line was busy and then you didn't answer..." Ryou said trying to sound upset but it was obvious to see that he had been worried about Bakura.
"Sorry, we had some Yami issues to deal with." Bakura said as he stopped in front of Ryou. Ryou looked up at him frowning.
"Is that why you disappeared after lunch yesterday?" Ryou asked looking up at the slightly taller boy. Bakura nodded.
"Yes." Ryou wrapped his arms around him resting his head on his shoulder.
"I was worried...I'm used to you skipping class, but you always answer your phone." Ryou said. Bakura petted Ryou's head, smiling a little.
"Sorry that I worried you hikari." Ryou smiled at the nickname that Bakura had picked up for him.
"Malik please, don't be angry." Marik said as he pleaded with Malik. "If I had had time I would have come and gotten you."
"That's what you say EVERY TIME!" Malik snapped, turning to glare at Marik. "Every single time you PROMISE that next time you'll take me with you when you decide to skip, and every time you forget!" Marik opened his mouth to say something but Malik held up his hand stopping him. "I don't want to hear it." With a huff Malik turned and walked away. Ryou frowned watching him go then looked at Marik.
"...I don't know why he's so upset...he likes school more then I do." Marik grumbled. Ryou frowned more shaking his head.
"That's not the reason he's upset." Ryou said. "He really couldn't care less if he skips school or not. What he's upset about is the fact that you broke your promise...again." Ryou said, taking Bakura's hand and leading him into the school letting Marik think that over. Marik blinked, watching the two silver haired boys disappear inside. He turned to look at Yami when he felt his friend put a hand on his shoulder.
"Ryou has a point. You should think of something to do to make it up to Malik." Yami said. "And I'll put a good word in for you. It was kind of my fault you two left school early yesterday." Yami said, smiling and patting his friend on the back. "Come on, I want to see the look on the teachers face when he realizes we're all here before the bell has even rung." Yami said grinning. Marik managed a small smile in return and followed Yami inside.
------
The class room was almost full due to the fact that class would be starting shortly. Yami was already in his seat watching Bakura, the other boy had some how managed to talk Ryou into trading seats with Marik for the day. Yami smirked; it was going to be an interesting day - that much he could tell as he watched Ryou smack Bakura's hand away for the fifth time. There was a reason that Ryou sat on the other side of the room after all.
"Not in school" Ryou hissed at Bakura. "And if you don't knock it off I'll go back to my own seat" Ryou said.
"Marik wouldn't give it back no matter how much you asked."
Ryou sighed shaking his head.
"You know as much as I do that Malik isn't going to forgive Marik easily." Ryou said and looked over to where he normally sat. Marik was sitting with his elbows on the desk looking miserable. The seat next to him was empty showing that Malik had not come to class yet.
The teacher came into the class room. "Settle down." He told the class without even looking up as he put his stack of books on the desk taking his time straightening things out. The bell rang and the class settled down, but the teacher was still taking his time doing whatever it was he was doing. Some people started to giggle as they glanced back at Yami who was leaning back in his chair, his feet up on his desk just relaxing. After about five minutes Yami looked at his watch and yawned.
"Are you going to start the class some time soon?" Yami asked making the giggling class mates laugh.
"As soon as you..." The teacher turned around and spotted Yami already in his seat looking rather bored.
"Really, if this is all you do before I get to class it's really not worth showing up on time now is it?" Yami asked, grinning widely. Before the teacher could say anything back the door slid open and Yugi hurried in out of breath.
"Sorry...I'm...late..." He panted hurrying to his desk.
"It's alright Yugi. Class hasn't started yet. And your grandfather called and said you would be a bit late. Could you stay after class however, there are some things I'd like to talk to you about."
"Hai." Yugi said sitting down and taking out the book he'd need. It was then that the teacher noticed Malik's vacant seat. Shaking his head he turned back to his desk.
"Alright, who remembers were we left off yesterday?" The teacher began. Marik frowned, his eyes going to Malik's empty seat as well. Where was he? Had he decided to skip school today and get back at Marik for leaving him yesterday? Sighing he looked across the room to the other three who also looked worried about Malik's absence. At least Bakura and Ryou did. Yami however had his eyes fixed on Yugi.
Marik also looked at the new kid and couldn't help but wonder exactly what had happened to him yesterday. Whatever it was he didn't seem too fazed by it. Sighing, Marik pretended to turn his attention back to the teacher.
The class went by slowly, especially for Marik since he spent most of the class trying to think of something he could do to apologize to Malik. By lunch time he still hadn't thought of anything. He finally decided to ask Bakura if he had any ideas, after all the silver haired boy had been in the same position with Ryou more then once before.
Entering the cafeteria Bakura and Ryou were easy to spot across the room sitting at the table waiting for the others. Marik made his way over to the table.
"Hey." Marik said as he sat down with a loud sigh. Bakura looked at him and raised an eyebrow.
"Let me guess, Malik is still mad at you?"
"I wouldn't know." Marik shrugged. "I havn't seen him since this morning. I think he skipped to get back at me for yesterday, or something." Marik said.
"Yeah, that sounds like something he would do." Ryou added as he leaned against Bakura. "I'm going over to his house tonight, I can try and talk to him for you if you'd like." He offered. Marik glanced at him, looking hopeful for a moment before sighing again, his shoulders drooping.
"No, thanks anyway Ryou. But this is my mess. What I would like though, are some ideas of what I can do to make it up to him." He looked at Ryou and Bakura hopefully.
"Like you said, this is your mess." Bakura said, cutting off Ryou who looked as if he had been about to suggest something. "Don't you think it would mean more if you thought of something on your own?" Bakura asked. Marik narrowed his eyes glaring at Bakura.
"Thanks." He growled.
"Payback is a bitch." Bakura said with an evil smirk. Marik glared at him again, but he didn't say anything else as he got up to go get lunch. Once his back was turned Ryou hit Bakura in the shoulder.
"That was mean Bakura."
"No meaner then what he did to me when I asked him for help." Bakura pointed out. Ryou blinked at him and sighed.
"But still..."
"Come on, you would have done the same thing if it was Malik." Bakura pointed out, grinning at the look on Ryou's face. He leaned down and kissed him. "I win." He whispered.
--------
Outside the cafeteria Yami was leaning against the wall watching people go in and out of the crowded room. His eyes scanning over everyone as they passed, trying to spot Yugi. Yami had decided to apologize to him during lunch since it was the only free period that they shared. The only problem was trying to spot the short boy.
"Hey Yami," Yami turned his head and saw Jou and Seto. "Marik and Bakura are already in there." Jou pointed, assuming that that was who Yami was waiting for. Yami nodded.
"I know. But I'm waiting for someone else right now. I'll be in, in a bit." Yami said. Jou looked at him a little surprised that Yami was waiting for someone other then his two best friends. Jou looked at Seto who just shrugged.
"We'll save you a seat." Seto said and pushed Jou gently making him go into the cafeteria.
"Don't push me money bags!" Jou snapped as he went to move on his own but Seto pushed him again. "I mean it Kaiba!"
"What? I'm just walking my dog." Seto said, smirking at the look Jou gave him as they headed in. Yami shook his head and turned his attention back to the people in the hallway. That's when he spotted Yugi at the end of the hall. Yami pushed off the wall intending to walk over to him but stopped as he watched the smaller boy.
He watched Yugi walk down the hall, his head lowered as he held onto the straps of his backpack tightly. Yami frowned slightly as he watched Yugi walking in his direction, the boy looked miserable, like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders, and the couple times that Yugi lifted his head so he wouldn't walk into anyone Yami saw such loneliness in those eyes. This just made Yami feel even worse about how he treated Yugi yesterday.
Once Yugi was close enough Yami stepped in his path. Yugi blinked and continued staring at Yami's legs. Yami was expecting him to look up and see who had stepped in his path, so he was momentarily shocked when Yugi just slowly moved around him to continue on his way. Yami blinked and stepped in his way again. This time Yugi did look up. Yami opened his mouth to say something but stopped when he saw Yugi's eyes widen and fear flash across his face. Closing his mouth Yami frowned watching Yugi.
He held up his hand when he thought Yugi was going to scream, or say something. "Just hear me out before you do anything okay?" Yami said and glanced around the hallway. There were far too many people for his liking. And all of them seemed to be glancing at him as they walked by. Rolling his eyes, Yami grabbed Yugi by the wrist and dragged him down the hallway towards an empty classroom. He pulled Yugi inside and closed the door behind him. Turning to look at Yugi and get this apology over and done with the look Yugi was giving him made Yami freeze again.
Yugi was shaking from head to toe looking beyond terrified by Yami's sudden actions. And if Yami wasn't now between him and the door he probably would have made a break for it. Snapping his mouth shut again Yami sighed and moved around Yugi, pulling a chair down from one of the desks. Putting it on the floor Yami sat on the desk and put his feet up on the chair. Yugi watched him silently but closely. And when Yami looked at him again he noticed that Yugi had moved a few inches towards the door.
"I'm sorry." Yami finally said making Yugi freeze where he was.
Out of all the things he had been expecting Yami to say or do, 'I'm sorry' was not among them.
"For yesterday, Yami clarified. "I was an ass. Keith always brings out the worst in me. And he really pissed me off yesterday, and I took it out on you."
Yugi just continued to stare at him not sure what to say or do. Yami watched him closely, glad to see that he didn't look quite as scared any more. And his shaking had stopped. "And I'm sorry for dragging you in here like I did. I have enough trouble apologizing without half the school able to hear me."
"It-its okay..." Yugi said softly shifting on his feet and lowered his eyes back to the floor.
"I'm Yami, by the way." Yami said as he slid off the desk.
"I'm Yugi..." Yugi said just as softly but gave Yami a small smile. Yami smiled back at him.
"Well Yugi. If we ever want to get something to eat I think we should head back before the lunch hour is over." Yami said. Yugi nodded and followed him out of the classroom. They walked in silence most of the way. Yugi wasn't one to start conversations, and Yami didn't know what to talk about. So he finally said the first thing that came to his mind.
"Why don't you have lunch at my table today?" He said. //What the hell are you doing Yami?// his mind screamed at him. //Apologize yes, but invite him to lunch?// He looked at Yugi already hoping he would say no. But he realized Yugi was no longer walking next to him. Turning around he saw that Yugi had frozen mid step and was staring at Yami as if trying to figure out if Yami was serious about his invitation.
"Me...eat with...with you?" Yugi asked.
"And Bakura, Marik, Ryou, Jou and Seto." Yami said making sure that Yugi knew it wouldn't be just the two of them at the table. "They can be rather loud though, so if you'd rather not..." Yami trailed off. Yugi smiled at him before nodding.
"Okay...if...if you're sure it's okay?" //What could it hurt?// Yugi thought to himself.
//Just for today.// Yami thought and nodded to Yugi. "Well, come on then. They're probably wondering where I am by now." He said as he led Yugi inside and over to the table where everyone was sitting.
And it already looked like Jou was trying to pick a fight with Marik. Ryou sat back like he always did going over his homework to get most of it done so he could have the rest of the day after school to himself. Bakura was trying to protect his food from being dumped over by either of the boys on opposite sides of the table. And Seto was looking highly amused as he watched Jou.
"So what did I miss?" Yami asked as he sat down, stopping the fight instantly.
"The usual." Bakura said, eyeing Marik and Jou to make sure that they weren't going to start again before putting his stuff back on the table. He looked at Yugi who was still standing by the empty chair trying to decide if he should really sit down or not.
"No one here is going to bite you." Bakura said.
"Unless you ask us to." Marik added. Yugi looked down and slowly sat down in the chair not daring to look at anyone at the table.
"You're Yugi, right?" Bakura asked. Yugi nodded slowly making Marik laugh.
"I do believe we finally found someone shyer then Ryou." He said, watching Yugi shrink down in his seat.
//Okay, so maybe this wasn't such a good idea...// Yugi thought - now trying to think of an excuse to leave the table.
"Ignore them." Ryou said catching Yugi's attention. "They just like picking on people whether they know them yet or not. I'm Ryou." He said smiling. Yugi looked at the silver haired boy through his bangs.
"...I remember you...from class yesterday morning..." Yugi said.
"Speaking of yesterday," Bakura spoke suddenly. "How are you feeling?" He asked. "Marik and I found you in the bathroom on the floor." By the tone of his voice it was easy to see he was more curious about what had happened then how Yugi was really feeling. Yugi shifted uncomfortably in his seat.
"...I'm alright..." Yugi bit his lip. He wasn't really sure he wanted to tell them exactly what had happened.
"It must happen a lot." Marik said. "I mean, you seem like you're kind of used to whatever happened, if you're in school today and not at the hospital or something."
"Yeah...it...it used to happen all the time..." Yugi shifted again fidgeting a bit. "I...I have really bad panic attacks. Sometimes to the point where I stop breathing altogether." Yami frowned as he listened to Yugi speaking more softly; it was almost hard to hear him over the noise in the cafeteria.
"Wow." Jou said staring at Yugi. "I didn't know panic attacks could be that bad."
"They can." Seto said, catching everyone off guard. Seto was never one to really join in their conversations, unless it was to pick on Jou. "If someone is under an extreme amount of stress." Yugi swallowed hard looking towards Seto locking eyes with him for a split second before looking down quickly with a small squeak. Yami frowned more.
"Well, at least you're feeling better today." Yami said. He didn't really want Yugi to be frightened away. And the smaller boy looked like he was seconds from bolting out of the cafeteria.
"So, Yugi." Ryou began catching onto the fact that Yami wanted the subject closed. Probably not as much as Yugi did though. "What do you like to do for fun?" Ryou asked. Yugi didn't answer right away, as he shifted again in his seat Yami saw Yugi clenching his hands on his lap trying to stop them from shaking.
"I like...to play games." Yugi said looking at Ryou. "And puzzles. I pretty much like anything that requires a lot of concentration..."
"Really?" Yami asked looking extremely interested now. As did Bakura and Marik, though they looked more amused then anything. "Perhaps we can play a game together some time?" Yami suggested.
"Oi!" Yami looked over at Marik who had his arms crossed. "Shouldn't you at least tell the boy first? Before you humiliate him?"
Yugi blinked looking between Yami and Marik. "Tell me what?" He asked looking extremely confused.
"You see, Yami here has a bit of a reputation around school." Bakura said.
"That's right. For as long as we've known him, Yami has never once lost a game, no matter what it is. Even if he's never played it before. And because of this he has earned the nickname The Game King." Yugi frowned looking from Marik and Bakura over to Yami. Yugi blinked, he could practically see the pride radiating off of Yami at the mention of his 'title'.
"So." Yugi started. "Does that mean if I beat you in a game, I'll be the new game king?" Yugi asked.
"Like that'll ever happen." Bakura snickered. Ryou glared and elbowed Bakura in the side.
"Be nice Bakura."
"That WAS nice."
Yami ignored them as he looked at Yugi. "I can bring a game in tomorrow, just a simple one, and we can play during lunch."
Yugi smiled. "Or I could bring in one. My Grandfather owns a game shop."
"Even better." Yami grinned.
Yugi smiled back at him looking extremely happy about the thought of playing a game with Yami. //Maybe I should tell him I've never lost a game to anyone before either...// Yugi thought but decided against it.
Yami picked up a glass of milk that was near by, that happened to be Marik's, and downed it. He set the empty glass back down on the table watching Yugi who finally looked a little more comfortable sitting there at the table. At least his hands weren't shaking any more. Sighing he leaned back in his seat and looked around the cafeteria, that's when he spotted none other then Keith standing across the room talking to someone.
Yami narrowed his eyes watching the blond boy yell at someone his hand occasionally pointing in the direction of Yami's table. The only thing Yami could think of was that Keith must be talking about him, or perhaps he really did have his eyes set on Yugi now. Yami bit back a growl narrowing his eyes as he watched Keith closely. Suddenly inviting Yugi to eat lunch with them didn't seem like it was that bad of an idea. Everyone in the school knew that anyone that sat with Yami and the others were 'off limits', unless they wanted to end up with a few broken bones.
Keith had learned that the hard way when he had gone too far with Yami. Yami had been able to break his nose, but it had been Marik and Bakura that cracked a couple ribs, broke his arm and twisted his ankle.
Yami was brought back to his thoughts when he noticed that Yugi was gathering up his things. "I have to go, or I'll be late for my next class." He said bowing politely. "Thank you for allowing me to sit with you." He turned to leave but Yami grabbed his arm as he too stood up.
"Wait, I'll walk with you." He said smiling a little. "We need to decide what game you'll bring in tomorrow." Yami said.
Yugi smiled and nodded and walked out, Yami following close behind. And as Yami expected, Keith followed not long after.
The two boys walked to class talking about what games they liked to play and what game might be good to bring into school. Before finally deciding on a game of Duel Monsters.
"I'll see you tomorrow then." Yami said.
Yugi nodded and headed into class before the bell rang. Yami waited until the door was closed before he narrowed his eyes and turned around scanning the hallway.
"I know you're there Keith. So you might as well come out now." Yami growled. Keith came out from behind a locker smirking.
"Getting a little cautious now? Or is it that you're just getting more paranoid?"
"Only with you. Now what do you want?" Yami asked clenching his fists.
"That's none of your business." Keith said stepping closer to Yami looking amused as he watched Yami tense up.
"You're following me around, then it is my business."
"Now don't we sound full of ourselves? Who ever said I was following YOU?" Keith asked. "I was following Yugi if you must know. He and I have some unfinished business to discuss."
Yami moved so quickly that Keith hardly had any time to react. But he managed to dodge Yami and grab his wrist. Spinning him around he pulled Yami's arm behind his back pressing it up painfully before slamming Yami against the wall. Yami growled deep in his throat struggling against Keith.
"Let me go." Yami hissed. Keith just smirked and pressed closer to Yami inhaling deeply.
"Hmm, we used to have so much fun together Yami. Don't you remember?" he asked whispering in Yami's ear as he continued to hold Yami against the wall. Yami's crimson eyes widened slightly and his whole body tensed as he felt Keith's whole body pressed against his.
"You were the only one ever having fun." Yami said and managed to keep his voice from shaking. But he couldn't deny the truth that he was scared of Keith. Scared of what the other boy could, and had done to him. But the difference between now and before was the fact that Yami was not about to let himself be controlled again. By Keith, or anyone else. That thought firmly in place Yami twisted and elbowed Keith hard in the stomach.
Keith yelped stumbling back and holding his stomach. He glared at Yami who had backed away and was holding his abused arm. Yami glared right back at him.
"You've gotten quite an attitude. You better be careful, it's going to get you and your friends into trouble some day."
"I'm not worried about them. Bakura and Marik can take care of themselves." Yami frowned as Keith's glare slowly turned into a smirk.
"We'll see about that." Was all Keith said before he turned and headed down the hallway still holding his stomach, leaving a bewildered Yami standing in the hallway rubbing his arm. Yami frowned as he slowly headed to his next class, even though the bell had rung ten minutes ago. He couldn't help but feel uneasy about the way Keith had been smirking. As if he knew something Yami didn't.//Maybe I should tell them to be careful...just in case.// Yami thought to himself. Better to be safe then sorry.

WOOHOO! Another chapter! ^-^ sorry that took a bit long. Work has been crazy. But I've managed to get a new note book and bring that with me to work. It was just a case of finding the time to type it up onto the computer. But I will say this should be getting updated more often because I've written an outline for over half the story. So I have more of an idea of what the characters want me to do ^-^
And I will also say this. It's NOTHING like the summary I had posted in chapter one'so, just sit back and enjoy. And as always REVIEW! ^-^
