CHAP 3: Shore Leave

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Malik and Marik had finished packing a few things from their room on board the ship. Bakura had left quite a while ago and it was just the two of them left plus Mai. Marik slung the bag over his shoulder as they headed out, he pushed the button for the lift the doors opened and Mai stood there with a few men from the repair team. “Not staying on board?” she asked as they stepped in and the doors closed.

“No a few months in this tin can is enough to drive anyone crazy, just look at Malik.” Marik chuckled.

“I know what you mean,” she giggled, Malik hissed and poked Marik in the ribs. The doors opened. “This is my stop see you guys when you get back, don’t forget to bring me something good this time.”

“What you didn’t like the pink two piece bikini we got for you last time?” Malik grinned as Marik chuckled

“Smart ass, no I didn’t, just don’t get into any trouble this time your all ready on warnings and watch alerts on four other ports,” she pointed out.

“It’s not our fault that they didn’t have a firing range,” Malik pouted.

“Yeah but the hotel lobby with the ambassadors of fifty two planets meeting for a peace conference, is not the appropriate place to discharge your phasers,” she put her hand on her hip “your lucky that Bakura was able to convince the authorities that you were his mentally handicapped cousin.” The doors closed, all she could hear was their laughter as the lift went down.

Malik started to giggle as they walked through the lobby of the hotel that they were staying at while the ship was being repaired, “Don’t even think about it,” Marik elbowed Malik in the side.

“What I wasn’t, can’t a guy reminisce?” Malik said innocently. Marik rolled his eyes as he checked them into a room.

“You did leave the weapons at the ship?” Marik gave him a side glance knowing full well he hadn’t but there was no harm in hoping.

“Can you be more specific, I mean when we’re talking weapons what counts as a weapon exactly?” Malik blinked a few times looking confused, Marik shook his head as he took the key-card and walked off to the lifts.

Marik looked at the card with the number finding the right door he swiped it and the door opened, they both walked into the room, tropical flowers sat here and there in the room on small tables, there was even a bedside table that was a fridge. Malik ran passed Marik and jumped up and down on the bed, the pillows and blankets rumpled by his feet. “It’s not as good as ours but it’ll do,” he jumped off landing on his feet and running into the bathroom, “A TUB! THEY HAVE A TUB, IT’S HUGE IT CAN FIT TWO!” Malik shouted from the room as a shower was the only they bathed on the ship and their bathroom wasn’t that big to being with.

Marik smirked as he listened to Malik in the other room he walked over and looked over the food synthesiser, this was to enable the people who stayed here to enjoy privacy as the did not need to go down stairs to eat. “Lets hit the stores before the rush and all the good guns, I mean supplies are gone,” Malik said as his grin grew.

They walked through the different species of aliens, finding a store that caught his eye he grabbed Marik by the arm and pulled him toward it.

Everyone stopped and looked as there was a commotion coming from one of the shops in the facility, “stop sir, please don’t touch that, put that down!” came the panicked voice of the sales clerk as Malik was dashing around picking up all the new and wonderful armoury all while Marik chased around after him trying to contain his over excited shipmate.

“I’ll have one of these and definitely one of those and can’t forget to get some of them as well,” Malik blurted out with such excitement you would think he was about to explode, Marik gave an exasperated sigh as Malik dashed passed him for the fifth time in just as many minutes, “look they even have grenades that hang off your belt, is this cool or what?” Marik jumped as the sound of everything dropping to the floor and Malik stood there with his mouth agape, practically drooling he then climbed over the counter “You have the new electro-plasmatic photon blaster 3000 limited edition only five in existence,” Malik purred as he pulled it down and put it over his shoulder looking through the scope he pointed it at Marik.

“Hey Marik check it out this would make a great addition to the ships armoury, I could really blow the shit out of something with this sucker.” He said with one eyebrow raised and a devilish grin showing off his unusually sharp teeth.

“Don’t you mean to your armoury?” Marik corked an eyebrow.

“What do you think? Does it suit me?” Malik said smugly as he turned toward the clerk.

“Now look what you’ve done the bloody clerk has fainted thanks to you aiming that massive thing at him, he probably thinks your some sort of psychopath with a gun fetish…oh wait you are.” Marik said unable to contain his laughter.

“I’ll give you psychopath, just wait till I find the shells for this thing,” Malik said as he began to chase Marik around the store throwing bullets at him.

OOOOOOOOOOOOO

“Be careful, it took me two weeks to calibrate that and I don’t really feel like doing it again,” Mai scolded one of the technicians helping with the repairs. Mai’s communicator went off, she answered it and it was Bakura.

“How are the repairs coming along?” he asked semi cheerfully.

“These fools don’t know their plasma coils from their photon inverters!” she said as one of the technicians looked up at her unimpressed. “Oh get back to work you slacker.”

“Take it easy on them they don’t have your experience or expertise.” He said with a hint of sarcasm in his voice.

“Don’t think I don’t know what your doing, this thing would still be held together by tape and rivets if I hadn’t agreed to join you.” She said smugly with a grin upon her face.

“I know and for that I am thankful, but do you think the repairs will be finished on time?” he asked hopefully.

“Well the way things are going we should be ready to go in two days.”

“Excellent, keep me up to date with what’s going on, I’ll have my communicator on and with me at all times.” Slight moans could be heard in his voice as he spoke.

“So how are the supplies coming along? From the sounds of your voice those boxes must heavy,” she said knowing full well that he was not moving boxes but probably at the massage parlour on the upper deck of Stratoes facility.

“Yeah and there are so many of them too, what was that you need a hand with the crates at the back? I’ll have to go they need my help keep me informed!”

‘Yeah lifting boxes my ass, every time we dock somewhere he has to find the nearest parlour and indulge himself while I get stuck here fixing his bucket of shit. But truthfully I am happiest when I’m hot and greasy with a hard tool in my hand.’ The thoughts ran through her head as she walked over to the warp core generator.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

“Ah this is the life, lazing about, getting my back massaged by one of the most talented three legged Arvapion masseuses,” Bakura said with a grin across his face as he turned his head slightly to see her standing on his back smiling.

“Is this alright sir? It’s not to hard is it?” she said smiling. She had not to bad of a figure and everything was in the right place, except for the extra leg she looked almost human and they were also known to be extremely seductive. Bakura knew to keep his wallet close as they gave of pheromones that could make even the hardest man slump to his knees and become a drooling little baby if that is what she so desired, being accustom to this he always came prepared with a nose numbing agent in place as most parlours employed them for their exceptional massage skills (their feet) and ability to relax the customer and not all of them are honest and use this ability to relieve you of your personal items.

After about an hour of indulgence Bakura got up and dressed, making his way out to the front desk he paid for the massage and was about to walk out when the receptionist called him back, “excuse me sir!”

He walked back inside, “hey the tip was more than generous,” he said with a hint of annoyance.

“No you’re right it was, thank you very much. It is just while you were in having your massage this was left for you at the desk.” She handed him an envelope with Bakura written on it.

“Did you see who left this for me?” he asked curiously.

“No sorry, my shift just started and the other girl was on the desk when you would have gone in, it was just here on the desk and the only reason I knew it was for you is when you paid for the session the computer had your name on the account, again sorry sir.” She went back to her computer and continued to type.

‘I wonder who left it here? This is strange, if it was Yami he would have just sent for me by messenger.’ He thought as he walked out of the parlour slowly, still holding the closed envelope.
He opened the envelope and looked inside, it contained only a piece of paper. On one side was a small hand drawn map with a red dot on it and on the opposite side was a note saying for him to go to the red dot at 11:30pm tonight.

“I know how to find out who it was, I’ll go to the security centre and check out the security camera. It will show me exactly who it was,” he said to himself as he made his way down the hallway and into the elevator. He pressed the button for the top floor and the lift began to move upward. ‘I can’t believe they still plays this crap music in these elevators,’ he thought to himself as he waited. The elevator stopped and the doors opened only to be greeted by two huge Mantian pig guards holding rather large phase rifles and pointing them right at him.

“Get out of the elevator, what are you doing on this level? It is restricted to our lord and his mate only, anyone else is to be brought before him immediately.” One of the guards grunted at him. He pushed him forward with his rifle and they began to walk down the hallway toward the big doors at the end. The entered the room, it was huge and had glass windows almost all the way around it with what looked like a balcony all the way around as well. At the end of the room someone sat in a big chair with servants by his side.

They walked toward the person and when they got there the guards made Bakura bow before the one in the chair, “rise Bakura,” came the voice from the person in the chair. Bakura got up and looked directly at him as he got up from his chair and walked over. “You have some nerve coming here,” he said with an angry face looking Bakura in the eyes and standing closely in front of him, all of a sudden his face broke into a smile and he threw his arms around Bakura. “It’s been a long time my friend, I haven’t seen you since we relieved those Darvellians of their crappy ship,” he said as he was chuckling. “So what are you commanding now?” he asked.

“Yami you dog, it has been a while hasn’t it? And I remember that all to well as I recall I was the one that got shot in the ass as we were taking off, someone wasn’t quick enough closing the loading dock doors. You asked what I am commanding now well as would be I am commanding the Soul-Collector which is still the same ship.” He said with a hint of annoyance in his voice.

“Anyway lets not dwell on the past, so what has brought you to my planet?” Yami asked intrigued as to why he was here.

“We were in the neighbourhood and thought we would drop in. But seriously our engines blew while we were towing a Termastian ship we found and yours was the nearest planet so we stopped for repairs.” Bakura said hoping that it was ok with Yami.

“Termastian hey! What do you want for this ship you…. found?” Yami asked with a devilish grin.

“We are salvagers now, but funny you should ask, I was just thinking that it would be easier to sell it here than to tow it back to the salvage yards in Covero Prime.” He said already contemplating holding all the money. “I think it would be worth at least 25,000 certas,” he said to Yami greedily.

“You’ve got to be kidding? I saw them bring it in with the tractor beam which means it doesn’t even run, I’ll give you 15,000 for it!”

“What! Make it 20,000.”

“Ok what about 17,000?” Yami said smugly.

“Fine 17,000 certas and you do me a favour?” Bakura said a little annoyed.

“Deal. What is this favour you want?” Yami said curiously.

“Today when I was enjoying a massage at your parlour, there was an envelope left at the desk but when I asked the girl who had left it she couldn’t tell me as she wasn’t on at that time. What I want from you is to have a look at the security camera recording to see who it was.” He said concerned.

“No problem, we can go have a look right now. Lets go see who this mystery person is.” Yami said as he proceeded into the next room with Bakura following.

“This is the surveillance room. Show me the recording from outside the massage parlour from the last two hours!” Yami commanded the guard at the monitors.

“Yes lord Yami.” Replied the guard.

“Ok this is it, slow it down” Yami and Bakura watched the monitor as people came and went “Okay pause that there, there’s you going in, now take it forward slowly.” Again they watched for a while.

“Stop there!” Bakura ordered, “Who’s that?” he pointed to the screen a tall figure in a dark brown full-length hooded cloak. “Can you zoom in?” the guard nodded and did as told. “Do you know who it is?” Bakura growled not liking the idea of not knowing who was following him.

“I don’t know, I could tell you if I could see the face,” he looked thoughtful for a minute, “bring up the camera in the lobby from behind the front desk,” Yami said never taking his eyes off the screen. They watched again and Yami growled in annoyance, “he never looks up.”

“Well it looks like I’ll have to meet him and find out for myself,” Bakura turned on his heels and walked to the door then stopped.

“Do you want back up just in case he’s a bounty hunter,” Yami turned to face him.

“Couldn’t hurt to have a gun and a camera, so we can identify him later if it goes bad,” he smirked, as the thought of Malik missing an opportunity to shot someone and finding out it later almost made him chuckle.
