Chains2

FKH: I’m not sure if anyone likes this story but here’s another chapter anyway.

Ryou arrived home from school and set his bag down on the ground. “Tadaima! Father, I’m home!” Ryou called into the dark house. “Dad?”
“Oh hey Ryou!” Ryou’s dad waved, poking his head out of the kitchen. “I see you’re home. How was school?”
“Great, Dad,” Ryou smiled sitting down on one of the stools in front of the table. “I already made some friends.”
“Good, good,” Ryou’s dad (FKH: Please ppl. At least give me reviews for the guys name) said and he washed a few dishes for dinner. “Food almost ready. Stir fry.”
After dinner Ryou went up to his room and immediately started working on his homework. It wasn’t that hard and in a matter of minutes it was completed. Just as Ryou was packing his things into his bag so he wouldn’t forget them tomorrow his father called.
“Ryou, I’ve got something to tell you,” he began once he saw his son at the foot of the stairs. “I’ve got a new job….sorta.”
“That’s great, Dad……why do you look so gloom?” Ryou asked stepping closer to his father.
“I’m still doing my same work. Ancient artifacts and such but….I’m going to be doing it away from home.”
“What?”
“I’m going on a dig next month. It’s going to be a long one and I can’t take you with me because we just moved. You can’t change schools already. So, you’re just going to have to spend a few months at a time by yourself.”
“Dad!” Ryou whined. “You can’t just leave me here! We’re family! You’re the only family I have! You’re leaving me too, just like mom!”
“Ryou…” his father began. “This is nothing like your mother—“
“You’re right,” Ryou looked down, beyond hurt. “Mom didn’t leave by choice.” With that Ryou turned on his heel and stormed back up to his room; locking himself in.

~* Ryou’s POV *~

Don’t get me wrong, I was happy for my dad. I knew he always wanted to go on a dig and I respected his dreams but……I don’t know. He’s my dad. He’s supposed to be there for me when I need him. How can he help if he’s half way across the world in a big hole? I feel so selfish but…..I really love my dad and I want him around.
Since mom died he took over everything. He was my mother, father, and anything I needed him to be. I can’t imagine him gone. (No matter how weird he’s been acting lately) I know it’s only for a few months but….I guess I’ll get by. It’s what he wants.

~* Normal POV *~

By the end of the month and the beginning of the new one Ryou’s father (FKH: Still Mr. Unnamed) left for his dig in Egypt. To pass the time by Ryou would invite his friends over or stay at their houses. It was okay, he guessed.
A few weeks after his father left there was a package in the mail. Ryou took the package and walked up to his room. Inside the box was something literally encased in tissue paper and bubble wrap with a note attached:

Dear Ryou,

Things are going well, but we still haven’t found anything yet other than a lot of jewelry. I’ve been thinking about you since I left. I’m very sorry that I had to leave you. But maybe this would help ease the pain

Love,

Daddy

Laying down the note carelessly, Ryou picked up the tissue paper and pealed it off layer by layer. Sealed inside the unnecessary wrapping was a beautiful gold ring with a pyramid with a golden eye center and several lethal looking spikes running along the bottom.
First Ryou thought to throw the ring away. He was still angry with his father after all, but something told him other wise. Slowing he picked up the large necklace by the rope and hung it around his neck. Suddenly sleepy Ryou yawned and crawled over to his bed were he curled up into a little ball and soon was asleep.

~* Bakura’s POV *~
I’ve been trapped in this damn room for so long. When the door just opened for no reason I was quite thrilled. (And if I wasn’t a cranky psychotic killer I may have done a happy dance) I stepped out of the dark room which I ‘lovingly’ called home and wandered a bit. I came across a door, similar to mine that was slightly ajar. Feeling strangely curious today I opened the door fully and was nearly blinded by the brightness of it all.
Okay, it wasn’t that bright. But it was lighter than mine was. The room was a bright pale grey (FKH: I know, I know) with different children’s toys littered everywhere. Grey blocks adorned with funny symbols, grey teddy bears, some with their head chopped off and fluffy white stuff everywhere, little strange blocks on wheels, and many other foreign looking goods. The walls were marked with what appeared to be sad; weeping grey and black flowers on withered ground.
But was really caught my attention was the pale; lithe form in chains laid out on the bed for the whole world to see.

FKH: The plot thickens……yes there is a plot. It’s all up here. *points to head*

Review and flame. I’m in the mood for a barbecue.
