Chapter 3
“Well Kisara? What is it that’s bothering you?” Kisara didn’t move or look up at him, her deep blue eyes focused on the water. The fish had swam off when his voice broke the silence, but her fingers still rested in the clear liquid.
“It’s nothing Atem…” His eyes narrowed at her stubbornness, he knew something was wrong, but she wouldn’t tell him, why? Was it that bad that not even her own soon-to-be husband could know? He did posses the ability to see into the minds of others, but, then he would be lowering himself down to the level that of Bakura.
He took her chin between his index finger and his thumb and made her look into his eyes. As he gazed into her, he could see the slight tears form in her own. Her hands lightly trembled as the water from her eyes fell down her cheeks. He released her chin and took her in an embrace, yet she did not take him, she just hid her face in his shoulder and wept. Between her sobs he managed to hear her mutter a sentence or two.
“Atem…I…can-not…marry…you…I ha-have…wronged…you…my..Pharoah…”
Shock, that was the word, shock over took him as he pushed her away. “How!?” He said in a demanding, authorative voice that struck fear to her in the moment he spoke.
She cringed and look away from him, eyes shut tight. “I cannot marry you…for…for… I do not love you anymore…I’m sorry… my heart was taken by another man…” His arms fell to his side limp, the rest of his body felt numb as his eyes went blank, his heart shattered into a million pieces in a second and seemed to fall and spread onto the floor.
He was, though, the first to rise to his feet, as he left the room he could barely hear her voice trail off saying “I’m sorry…”
His hands clenched into tight fists as he walked down the hall, his head hung low and eyes shut tightly to try to stop the tears, but he failed miserably.
Sorry? HA! That’s to laugh… you’re only sorry that it hurt me this much… You don’t know what you’re saying…I know you want someone to hold you… So why don’t you go running to the one that you claimed stole your heart like you did when you ‘loved’ me… By these thoughts, blood started to trickle down from his palms indicating his grip was far too tight as his nails dug into his flesh. Servants and guards asked him if he needed something, but he was too deep in thought to hear them.
