"Ladies and Gentlemen! My name is Ryan, and welcome to Blue Moon Cafe's third annual Rising Stars Competition!" the host for the evening greeted his audience. Seto, sitting a few seats back from the rest of his boyfriend's comrades, rolled his eyes and took the opportunity to look at the schedule the greeters had been handing out.

In the first round, Jou was third. There was a total of 10 contestants, one to be eliminated each round. It was going to be a long night.

As Jou was introduced, his friends erupted into wild applause. The center of attention came out, waved, and qued the band to start. A few upbeat guitar strings later, he was singing all out.

The crowd cheered obnoxiously loud, and Seto was sure his lover was bound to be a favorite.

Six rounds later, Jou was still at his best, never wavering. His significant other was positive the man was running on pure adrenaline... and sighed. Win or lose, Jou was giving his all, and it would be impossible to get him to sleep tonight.

Some acts were doing the same basic acts over and over, but Jou had a different song each time, usually upbeat. By now, the competition was down to him and two others. He took this turn to speak before singing.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, I wanna that you for bein’ here this evening,” he said, and a polite applause followed. “This song I wrote about the adventures my friends and myself have been through, and the support we’ve all given each other.” Seto could’ve sworn that ‘all’ was directed at him. Jou winked and qued the band. A light drum beat started.

“Long ago in the ancient past,

In a dark Shadow Realm under a big full moon,
There and then I could tell you’d try to break my will.
