Chapter 3

Anubiset: Thank you! And I redid the previous chapter. I lengthened the Yami/Yugi and Seto/Jou lemons. Added a couple pages to it. Feel free to check it out!

Okay, next chapter! I'm sorry it's so short. But I redid the previous chapter and wrote a chapter for 'Lover of Shadows'. My brain died but I got some down. Anyways, Enjoy! And please review. Don't make me beg.

Ryou limped over to the tree where they had arranged to meet. It had been several months since they had first come to be the chosen ones but nothing had changed for Ryou.

Yugi was sound asleep, his wings wrapped around him. Ryou figured he had experienced a hard night, or at least hard for him. He noticed Malik, another of the chosen ones standing sprawled out over the ground.

Jonouchi was standing to the side preening his feathers in silence. Every couple of minutes he would shake his wings and a few feathers would fall loose onto Yugi’s face. Yugi’s nose would twitch as they tickled him and would swipe at them in his sleep. Times like these were the ones Ryou treasured the most.

“Why does everybody have different length wings?” Ryou suddenly asked Malik.

Malik blinked his eyes in shock. “The length of the wings give our status. Those with black wings always have a higher status than one with white wings of the same length. The leader has the largest wing and then Seraph, so they’re higher status than the other black-winged ones. While Bakura has the shortest, and Seto the longest.”

“I see, so out of us Yugi’s the lowest ranked and Jonouchi’s the highest?”

Malik nodded his head. “Yes, but it was decided whether we were long-winged or short-winged on whatever our master’s preference is so that’s why I’m long-winged and you’re short-winged.”

Ryou nodded his head even though he felt completely lost.

The black-winged ones were amusing themselves by dissing their leader when Seraph decided to appear out of thin air and nearly caused every single one of them to jump out of their skin.

“Baka woman,” Bakura snarled as he glowered at her.

“Perhaps I was mistaken,” Seraph began as her eyes flickered from one to another, “but I was sure I heard some cross remarks about Mai.”

“No ma’am,” they all shook their heads quickly.

“Seto, what happened to your face,” Seraph quickly asked as she eyed the swelling in bruises that marred his skin.

“You know damn well what happened,” he snarled. “You and your sick sense of humor happened.”

Seraph snorted, trying to hold back a laugh. She knew perfectly well what had happened since things such as the size of the wings were her choice. It was their own fault for constantly bickering and belittling her mistress.

Seraph felt Mai’s presence brush against her mind in the mind link that she shared with Mai. All black-winged ones shared mind links with their chosen ones in time.

/Mai/

/The outsiders are here my love./

Seraph bit her lip slightly. The outsiders, a group of angels that only wanted their deaths and would stop at nothing to get it.

/I’ll be there immediately./ Seraph disappeared from the hallway and soon was in Mai’s private room staring at a clear pool. It showed a small force of outsiders just outside the castle.

“How pleasant for you to show, hun,” Mai smirked as Seraph joined her side.

“It seems they’re attacking from the back.”

“They don’t think we’ll be watching. We’ll show them,” Mai whispered as she ran her fingers through Seraph’s feathers. “Come back soon or I’ll have to punish you,” Mai let her tongue trace the ridge of Seraph’s ear before drawing away once again.

Seraph gave a brief nod of her head as she disappeared once more and showed in front of the black-winged ones. “Listen! The outsiders are here.”

Shock rode on all their faces.

“Each of you will retrieve your chosen one while I hold them off. That’s all that is needed of you.”

Yugi blinked his eyes tiredly as he woke up with a stretch. The white feathers that had fallen on him during his nap fell off in a pile. “What’s going on?”

“The outsiders have come,” Malik murmured softly.
