Wandering Dreamer
Chapter 3
Everything was quiet in the Kame Game shop. In one of the rooms in the upper part of the shop, a small moan was heard as the occupant lying in the bed of said room opened their eyes.
"W-where am I?" Murmured Ryou looking around the room he was currently in, nothing about it seemed familiar to him. His eyes widened as they landed on the sol other occupant of the room. "Yami no Yuugi?" He said slowly, unsurely. Blinking Ryou was confused as to why he was in the presence of the, currently sleeping, former pharaoh.
Ryou jumped startled when he heard the door to the room open abruptly revealing his small tri-haired friend behind it.
"Ah! Ryou you're awake!" Yuugi said with wide-eyes as he walked over to the other hikari. "How are you feeling?" He asked as he placed a hand on Ryou's forehead checking his temperature. "You're fever's gone down." He said mostly to himself.
"I'm okay." Ryou said pulling away from Yuugi. "What happened? Why am I here Yuugi-kun?" He asked uncertainly.
Yuugi blinked in surprise. "You don't remember?" At Ryou's blank stare, Yuugi explained the situation and how Ryou had come to be at the Kame Game shop and in this very room. "Yami went for a walk and found you sleeping under a tree, you were very sick, he rushed you back here and took care of you."
Stunned Ryou turned to look over at Yami, he was blushing slightly. "H-he took care of me?"
"Uh-huh."
"H-how long was I asleep? "Ryou wondered almost absently.
Yuugi pursed his lip sin thought. "About two days."
Ryou turned to look at him stunned. "T-two days? Oh Re. . ." He sat up pulling his knees to his chest and burying his face in them. "This is not good." He whispered to himself.
Both he and Yuugi turned when they heard a soft moan from Yami who was currently in the, long and lengthy, at least to the yamis', process of waking up.
"Mmmm. . ." Blood-red eyes opened slowly, then blinked sleep sleepily as Yami's mind tried to catch up with his body. "Yuugi-?" He asked his aibou in confusion. He blinked staring at the two hikari's sitting before him, his mind not yet registering what he was seeing. "Oh! Ryou! You're awake!"
Blushing Ryou nodded. "H-hai."
Yami stood up, walking over to the door. "You just stay right there, I bet you're hungry, I'll go make you some soup."
"You're not allowed to use the stove or the microwave, remember?" Yuugi reminded Yami, not wanting to have the house burnt down around them.
Pouting childishly, Yami sighed. "Fine! I'll make sandwiches. . . so cruel aibou." He said huffing and then leaving the room.
Ryou giggled as he watched Yami leave, he'd never seen this side of the stern pharaoh before. Suddenly he became aware of Yugi watching him. "Yuugi-kun? Is something wrong?"
Yuugi gave him an all-knowing smile. "You like him don't you?"
Blushing deeply Ryou shook his head. "N-no. . ."
Smile widening, Yuugi leaned in closer to Ryou. "Yes you do, I've seen the way you look at him, not just now but other times as well."
Ryou's blush deepened to a bright tomato-red as he looked away from Yuugi. "I-"
Before he could defend himself in the face of Yuugi's words, Yami walked in carrying a plate of freshly made sandwiches. "I come barring food." He said proudly then stopped as he noticed how red Ryou's face was. "Ryou!" He said worriedly placing the plate on a small side table and running over to the white-haired hikari. He placed a hand on Ryou's forehead checking for a fever. "Hmm. . .you're not too warm." He said to himself as he checked Ryou's cheeks as well. "Are you still feeling ill?"
Yuugi grinned as he noticed Ryou was steadily growing redder, if that were even possible. "He's okay Yami, I just said something that embarrassed him."
Yami clucked his tongue at Yuugi. "Yuugi! Ryou's still recovering, you shouldn't be bothering him and embarrassing him. Now apologize aibou."
Grinning and blinking his large eyes innocently Yuugi turned Ryou. "I'm sorry I embarrassed you Ryou, I wasn't being very considerate."
Ryou ducked his head in further embarrassment. "It is alright Yuugi-kun." Then turning to Yami he bowed his head in gratitude. "Thank you so much for watching over and taking care of me Yami-san."
Smiling down at Ryou, Yami popped a piece of a sandwich in his mouth. "Ish no pobwen Wyou."
Yuugi scowled at his Yami, embarrassed by his lack of manners. "Yami! Don't talk with you're mouth full of food, it's disgusting and rude."
"Sow-" Yami finished chewing what he had in his mouth then swallowed it. "Sorry aibou." He said grinning sheepishly when Yuugi rolled his eyes. "Is there anything you need Ryou? Just ask me and I'll get it for you." Yami asked turning to the other hikari.
Ryou nodded hesitantly. "Yes. . could, could I use the phone. If it's not too much trouble that is." He added modestly.
"Sure you can use the phone." Yami said getting up. "I'll go get the cordless." He
left the room and was back moments later with said phone. "Here you go."
Nodding gratefully Ryou took the phone, he looked up at Yami expectantly. When Yami continued to stand there Ryou sent a small pleading look to Yuugi.
Understanding what it was Ryou wanted, Yuugi grabbed his yami's arm. "Common Yami. let's go make some tea. He said as he dragged the other out of the room.
Yami had no choice but to follow him, Ryou could hear them talking as they headed down the hall. "Why do we both need to go and make tea?"
"Because you're not allowed touching the tea kettle either, remember?" He heard Yuugi reply.
"Ohhh, so cruel aibou!"
Ryou laughed quietly to himself at Yami's antics. Then sobering up he turned on the phone, gazing upon it with fear. Hesitantly he punched in his home number, the phone rang three times before a rough and obviously irritated voice answered it. "WHAT!"
Even though he knew it was only through the phone and that he could not be hurt, Ryou flinched. "B-Bakura-sama. . ." (no this is not a Bakura abuses Ryou fic, he's just scared of his yami because frankly, Bakura's crazy)
He could feel Bakura pause on the other end of the line. Ryou allowed himself to relax marginally, maybe his yami wouldn't be that mad. "Yadonoushi!!! Where the hell have you been? Where are you?! You've been gone for two days! The house is a mess! You had better get you're ass back here right now!!"
Ryou nodded fearfully, forgetting that his yami couldn't see him. "H-hai Bakura-sama; I will be back as soon as I can."
His yami growled over the line. "Just where are you anyway yadonoushi?"
". . ." Ryou bit his lip afraid to reply.
"Yadonoushi. . ." Bakura growled warningly.
"I'm at Yuugi-kun's!" Ryou answered hurriedly, fear evident in his voice. The fear was not misplaced for upon hearing this, his yami went ballistic at the news.
"WHAT!!!!!!!!!"
Ryou flinched at the sound of his yami's voice and the obvious anger behind it. "G-gomen nasai Bakura-sama! I got sick and Yami-san found me in the park."
There was silence on the other line, Ryou assumed Bakura was putting together what had happened. Finally after nearly two minutes of silence Bakura spoke up. "Fine but you are to be back tomorrow; understand?"
"H-hai! Arigatou Bakura-sama."
Bakura scoffed on the other end. "Don't thank me baka. . . and get better." He added roughly before hanging up the phone.
Ryou sighed as he hung up, a small smile on his face, that had gone much better than he had hoped. A frown found its way onto his brow, why wasn't Bakura with HIM though? It would be logical would it not? Ryou shook his head, he wouldn't worry about that right now. He'd rather not think of it at all, especially not when it lead to thoughts of Malik.
Unbidden, Ryou felt tears sting the corner of his eyes. No! He wasn't going to let this get the better of him, he could be strong. He *would* be strong and he would move on.
He looked up as a knock sounded at the door, which Yuugi had closed on his way out, the knock signalled that Yami and Yuugi had returned. "You two can come in." He said quietly, although just loud enough so that they could hear him.
"We got tea!" Yuugi said cheerfully as he entered the room. "It's your favourite Earl Grey."
Yami followed Yuugi in carrying the tray, he set it down on the side table beside the sandwiches.
"Thank you Yuugi-kun, Yami-san." Ryou said smiling gratefully at the two of them. He took one of the cups and held it delicately between his hands, the warmth of the cup felt wonderful against the cold of his hands. Yuugi and Yami joined him in sitting down and drinking tea.
There was a pleasant silence in the room, all three occupants content to simply enjoy the tea and each other's presence. Finally after he had finished nearly half his tea, Ryou spoke up. "I have to leave tomorrow." He said suddenly, his soft voice breaking the pleasant silence that had encased them.
Yami nearly spit out his tea. "B-but you're not better yet! You're not well enough to leave; you're fever may be gone but you're still sick and still recovering!"
Ryou sighed sadly, Yami's reaction upsetting him more than he could comprehend. "I know but I must leave tomorrow, there are many things I have to get done."
Just as Yami was about to protest again Yuugi spoke up. "Why don't you walk him home then Yami?" He asked causally not looking up for his tea.
"N-nani?" Ryou's voice was not heard drowned out by Yami's own.
"That's a great idea!" Yami said grinning widely. "Ryou tomorrow I'll walk you home."
"Y-you really don't have to." Ryou protested weakly, although in reality he really wouldn't mind the company, especially not if it was Yami's.
"I insist."
"But-"
"Then it's settled!." Yuugi popped in cheerfully. "Yami will walk Ryou home tomorrow."
Ryou nodded in resignation. Sipping his tea he thought to himself, oh well how bad could it be?"

A/N: I know it takes me forever to update but I'm lazy and I have schoolwork and two sisters to fight for the computer with. I hope you all liked this chapter, the next one should have more interaction between Ryou and Yami. And Malik makes a come back!
I've finally figured out why the chapters keep getting cut off they don't like certain symbols. Not much news on the doujinshi for this, Nife-chan's working on it but it's not done yet. When it is and if she decides to scan it, I'll post a link.
