Kagome's Story
Chapter Three- Kagome’s Story

Kagome looked at the four guys, a little unsure how to begin. She sighed. “How should I begin..” “At the beginning?” suggested Duke. She rolled her eyes, but nodded. “I suppose that works.”
She took another deep breath. “Two years ago, when I was fifteen, my grandpa gave me some thing called the Shikon Jewel. I thought nothing of it at first. My little brother, Sota, told me out cat had climbed down the well. So I got the cat out. Next thing I knew, something had destroyed the block on the well and grabbed me. It was a demon. She said a jewel was inside me. I ended up releasing a half-demon, Inu-Yasha, from his imprisonment against the God Tree. After he killed the demon, he came after me! But an old priestess, Kaede, saved me by forcing him to wear a prayer bead necklace, so I could use the word sit, against him. I accidentally shattered the jewel, and was stuck working with Inu-Yasha.” She paused, looking at them. Duke, Yami, and Mokuba looked pretty believing. Seto Kaiba, looked skeptical.
“Anyway, I traveled with him for two years, and fell in love with him. Today I caught him with his old girlfriend….” Tears filled her eyes as the image of the pair kissing entered her mind once more. “I jumped through the well, planning to go home and have my grandpa seal the well, but I ended up here instead.”
“That’s an interesting story Kagome.” Said Seto, “But how are we supposed to believe you.”
Kagome glared at him. “You don’t believe me!? Here!” She ripped the necklace holding the jewel from her neck and thrust it at him. “There’s the jewel!”
He raised his eyebrows. “Looks to me like a pearl that was partially destroyed.”
She growled lightly. “You little…” she lifted her shirt to expose her side. “See that! It’s the scar where it came out of my body!” Next she opened her backpack and took out an envelope which she threw at him. “And those are pictures from there!”
Kaiba flipped through the pictures and sighed in defeat. He could tell they were real. “Fine, I believe you.”
“So, how about we all chip in to help.” Duke said quickly. He’d already witnessed Kaiba’s anger once that day. He didn’t want to see it again.
“I’ll get her some clothes and things.” Yami offered.
“She can stay with me.” Said Duke hurriedly.
Kaiba sighed in annoyance, eyes closed. “I suppose that leaves me to show her around.” He wrote something quickly, and handed it to Kagome.
She looked down and read it. ‘I’ll pick you up from Devlin’s at seven and take you somewhere nice. Be ready.’
Kagome looked up to reply, but he exited before she could.
