Chapter Three - Desire
Seto ran his fingers down the sharp edges of the treasure and smiled. So much power in his hand, to do with as he pleased. He liked the feeling of absolute power, the thrill it gave him, the way he could master it and wield it. He was meant to always be in control, some people were meant to lead and others to follow. He would never follow; he would create his own destiny. With one last look he placed it back in the small locked box and returned it to his safe. No one knew of its existence and he would do all that he could to keep it that way.
He turned from the safe, now securely away from plain view and exited his den. The hallway was dark from lack of windows and to most might have appeared more than a little ominous with its high ceilings and old oil paintings depicting unsmiling ancestors. He rarely looke the the decorations and ornamentations but merely walked, his eyes straight ahead to his destination.
He unlocked the door at the end of the hall and entered. This room was a little more cheery in appearance compared to the hallway beyond. There were skylights put in to allow natural light to filter down and disperse the darkness, the walls were painted a bright color and there were pictures of gardens and landscapes giving it a homey look. All provided by his more than capable assistant from his instructions. The occupant within, however, did anything but reflect the optimism of the room.
Yugi sat on the large bed, almost swallowed up by its size, his arms wrapped around his legs he looked up over his knees with dark sunken eyes, an expression of a person who has been beaten down for a long time. Seto could recall seeing the same expression on the faces of holocaust survivors in some of his history books. Yet it did not deter him from his purpose.
“Yugi, how are you feeling today? Stronger, I hope.”
Yugi merely nodded, unwilling to engage in any sort of personal contact or conversation lest it give Seto any encouragement. The dream of the previous night still haunted him.
“Good. I want to you feel safe here. Anything you require is yours. I can get you anything you want.”
“I see things haven’t changed much after all, Kaiba.” Yugi muttered.
“Seto. Please I would have you call me Seto.” His face was naked with longing as he regarded the teen in front of him. “I wish you could find the willingness to give me a chance, Yugi. You and I were always opposite sides of the same coin.” He smiled gravely. “I didn’t know then what I do now. Funny how time makes things so clear to you.” He sat down beside Yugi and looked deep into his eyes.
“You were always an equal to me, unlike the others. You could always best me when we duelled. It was after you were gone that it became apparent that you the only one who could ever understand me.”
Yugi almost felt suffocated by Seto’s need for understanding. The loneliness and longing were almost like a third entity in the room with them. He was unsure of how to react. A part of him wanted to console the tortured soul, but the realistic half of him knew that any show of compassion would be viewed as acquiescence.
“You don’t need to say anything now. The only thing I require of you is to heal, I want you to get better.” He reached out and brushed a strand of spiky blond hair out of Yugi’s face. “You tell me what you need and I will get it for you.”
Yugi thought about it for a moment and then returned Seto’s gaze.
“Freedom.”
Seto gave him a crooked, almost boyish grin. “We both know that I can’t do that. Where would you go, you barely remember who you are? You’re not prisoner here; I just want to keep you safe for now until you are able to take care of yourself.” He caressed Yugi’s face, his thumbs slowing to graze his bottom lip, his expression almost hungry. Suddenly he leaned in and captured Yugi’s mouth with his own, his tongue sliding between the soft mouth with insistence. A moan broke from his throat and he pressed Yugi against him, hard with need.
Yugi pushed him away and scrambled to the edge of the bed, his eyes wide with terror at what had just transpired. Seto paused a moment, horrified at his lack of self control, something he had always prided himself on.
“I’m sorry. Gods, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean for that to happen.”
He stood up and headed for the door, feeling a mixture of shame and disgust at himself.
“What we need is time. Time will make things all work out, you’ll see.”

“Arisa Etsuko.”
Joey looked up at Lisa who stood over him with a smug expression on her face.
“What?” He asked, seeing as she was eager to share something with him. She placed a sheet of paper down on the desk before him and pulled up a chair.
“Our Jane Doe’s name is Arisa Etsuko. Daughter of a very wealthy manufacturer. I’m sure the name is ringing a few s fos for you.”
He regarded the information placed before him somewhat confused.
“I assume you mean Estuko Electronics. One of the Big Five in the country.” He asked.
Lisa nodded and allowed him to continue.
“This doesn’t make any sense, Lisa. This man is all about money and p. I. If his daughter was missing we would have had half the police force and the army out looking for her with the mayor screaming for blood.”
She smiled her agreement. “I know, but there aren’t any missing person’s reports, no calls, nothing. It’sn a n a week since her death and we have no idea if she was missing before that. So why haven’t we heard from her parents?”
Joey looked at her a moment and then a small grin appeared on his face that let her know that the wheels had begun to turn in his mind. “What do you say we go ask him?”

Mokuba shoved the small box he had been looking at under the pillow and he smiled up at Kyla as she entered the room.
“Hey, babe. Didn’t hear you come in.”
Kyla smiled back, happy that his mood had seemed to improve. The last week had been a rollercoaster of emotion with him and she wasn’t sure when he was going to lash out.
“To be honest I wasn’t sure if you wanted me here or not.” She admitted, feeling a little guilty at the look of hurt that passed across his face for a moment.
He reached out for her hand and pulled her down to sit on the bed. “I wanted to talk to you about that, Ky. I know I have been a real ass lately and I wanted to apologize. You have been so patient and understanding and I’ve been treating you like crap.”
Kyla couldn’t believe her ears. The words that she had been waiting so long to hear were finally being said. She turned and placed her hands on either side of his face in a gesture of tenderness.
”Mokuba. I told you that I loved you, and that means forever, for better or worse. I will not abandon you when things get bad.”
He kissed her nose and then pulled away, reaching under his pillow.
“Here.” He said handing her the box. “I got you this as a little make up gift for treating you so bad.” He watched her as she opened the velvet container, here eyes growing wide when she saw the bracelet inside. A perfect gold band encrusted with tiny sparkling diamonds. “I wanted something as beautiful and perfect as you, but nothing came close, so I got you this instead.”
A small tear trickled down her cheek as she put it on her wrist and looked at it as the light made the diamonds sparkle.
“Oh, Mokuba, it’s amazing. You didn’t have to do this.” She smiled at him.
“Trust me, I did. One thing Seto always told me is that when you are wrong you own up to your mistakes and then find away to correct them. You deserve a lot more than this.”
She threw herself into his arms and kissed him with all the passion she felt for him. Her mouth was soft and demanding and she allowed him intimate access with his tongue, thrilling as his hands began to move down her back and then under her shirt, feeling her flesh. His caresses moved upwards towards her breasts. He broke away then and looked into her eyes.
“Ky, I need to know if you want me to stop now. “ His face was flushed and she could feel the hardness of his arousal pressing against her.
She pulled back and looked at him impishly for a moment before she pulled her shirt over her head.
“Do you think you’re ready, Mokuba?” She asked, her voice husky with desire. He could only nod dumbly; he never wanted her much as this moment and he wasn’t sure how much longer he could last. “Let’s go slow then, I don’t want to hurt you.”
“Oh, baby. I don’t think you could hurt me right now if you wanted to.”
Kyla reached back and undid her bra and slid it off her shoulders, baring herself to him. She watched his eyes trail down from her face to her breasts hungrily, her nipples hardening under his scrutiny. She reached over and undid his shirt and pulled it off him, wanting to feel his skin against hers.
As if reading her mind he reached over and pulled him against her and plundered her mouth once again and it felt incredible. Her heart began to pound in anticipation and she felt herself growing wet between her legs, ready for him.
“Mokuba…” She half moaned his name as he nipped at her neck and then nuzzled his way down, taking an erect nipple in his mouth and drawing on it. She tangled her fingers in his hair as he licked and suckled first one breast, and then the other.
“Kyla.” He murmured as he moved back up so he could look into her eyes. “Gods I need you so bad right now.”
He was almost pleading, it made her feel even more aroused to have him want her so much and she reached down and undid his belt and pulled down his zipper so that she could slid her hands under the waistband of his short and encircle his erection. His eyes shut at the intensity and he moaned as she stroked the length of it. She felt so hot, her whole body trembled to feel him moving inside her, but she held back, letting herself enjoy giving him pleasure. He felt so large and she could feel him throbbing underneath her hand.
He grabbed her wrist and pulled her hand free. She wasfusefused for a moment, worried she had done something wrong until he pulled her close to him so his mouth was next to her ear.
“You keep that up and I am going to explode right now.” He chuckled. His hands buried in her long blond hair.
“What the hell!” She heard him exclaim as he looked up and over her shoulder. Kyla instinctively turned to see what was there, forgetting a moment that she was half naked.
There in the doorway stood Malik, a sly look on his face, quickly replaced with a look of surprise that didn’t seem to ring true.
“Oh, I’m so sorry, I didn’t realize you had someone here. My apologies.” He paused a moment before leaving, his eyes taking Kyla in, moving from her face to her naked chest, leaving a very hot trail as if had touched her with his hands. Then he caught her gaze again, the look he gave her was one of pure lust, there was no apology there whatsoever and despite her embarrassment she couldn’t help her body responding to him.
“Get the hell out of here!” Mokuba yelled again, pulling a blanket around Kyla to cover her nakedness.
Malik left the room with another offering of apologies. Kyla had to wonder how long he had been watching them.

Jiro Etsuko sat at his desk looking like a stone carving. No emotion on his face as Joey had to relate the death of his daughter.
“Where is she now?” His voice was low and expressionless, but something in his eyes gave the impression that he was feeling more emotion than he was willing to share with these strangers before him.
Joey got the sense that Mr. Etsuko was of the older generatind vnd very traditional in his views about how one dealth grh grief. “She is at the City Morgue. The corner will make the arrangements to have her transferred to the funeral home of your wishes.”
He merely bowed his head in acknowledgement, saying nothing further. Lisa looked uncomfortable with the silence but Joey merely pulled out his note book and began tttacttack.
“Mr. Etsuko, it seems rather odd to us that your daughter was missing for over a week and no one called in a missing persons report.”
Etsuko looked up at him sharply, enraged at the questions and what he felt was inappropriate behaviour in the face of the death of his child. “She was wilful. There were times when she might disappear with her friends for a weekend and we might not hear from her until the following Monday. She had no respect for her elders, it caused us great concern.”
Joey’s face was that of a sympathetic parent, Lisa was always amazed at how he could act in the manner necessary to get the information he wanted.
“But a week is a little more disconcerting than a weekend don’t you think? Were you not concerned for her welfare?”
Mr. Etsuko’s eyes narrowed angrily. “Of course we were concerned for our child. We called all her friends, and got the same story. They were going to see a concert in the city and would not return for several days. She kept her cell phone off so we could not reach her.”
“But you did not feel at any time you needed to call the police or seek any assistance in finding her?”
Lisa watched the array of expressions crossing the previously impassive face as he struggled for his words.
“This is a matter for the family. We do not bring police into a private matter. There is great shame in allowing others to know our business. We take care of ourselves.”
“Is there anyone you could think of that might want to hurt your daughter, or your family?” Joey prodded but continuing to hit the same stone wall as he just shook his head to the negative.
Lisa could see Joey was going to say more but Etsuko stopped him by standing up.
“I thank you for your time. If you have nothing further I am a very busy man and I have to go to my wife now and give her this news. It will break her heart.”
Joey got up and handed him a card. “I put the number where you can call to make any arrangements for your daughter. My number is also on this where you can reach me if anything comes to mind about who would want to hurt your daughter. Rest assured that we will be working hard to find the person who did this.”
Jiro Etsuko almost seemed to pale at the words and Joey noticed that the hand holding the card was trembling slightly.
“I just want this unpleasantness behind us so my family can return to our lives.”
He ushered them out of his office. Not a word was said until they got into the car, at which time Joey turned to Lisa with a calculating look on his face.
“That man was lying, and he was frightened.” He was quiet another minute. “I’m going to find out why.”

Isis couldn’t catch her breath. She reached up and grabbed at her throat but had no hands. It was dark and someone was hurting her. Her head throbbed with the sound of her blood as her life was slowly being drained away by the strong hands of a stranger.
Then a bright light enveloped her and she could see the shape of something in the distance. It was so hard to make out against the blinding light in the background but she could see it, like a piece of a puzzle, and then all went black.
Isis gasped for breath and was rewarded by an intake of cool fresh air. She struggled to make sense of her surroundings, the same feeling that she often got after one of her visions.
She was being warned of something, she knew this, but when ever she got close to it something strong blocked her. Something with equal strength to her necklace, like another millennium item.
She knew it was time to seek out help, to seek out Joey. She hoped that he would not turn from her, well aware that her recent distance had hurt him. It was the only way she could think of to save her family. Things had been so crazy with the appearance of Yugi that she had to put her own needs aside for her children, they needed her strength and her love.
Something terrible was going to happen and somehow it affected her, but she could not see what it was. Joey could help her. She had missed him more than she liked to admit, his tenderness, the way he made love to her with every fibre of his being. She could still feel him at night, his sent, his touch; it was almost painful to bear, especially since Seto had taken to sleeping in a guest room. He said it was to keep from waking her, but she knew better. He had the one thing that he desired above all others, and now she was no longer required in his life other than to raise their children and provide the necessary façade of normality to the outside world.
She went over to the table and picked up her cell phone, his number on speed dial. It was at least three rings before she knew what she was going to say.
“I need you.”
