This is getting large again *sigh* I somehow cannot find an earlier end for the chapters *sulking*

Chapter 2 “Disastrous times” – Part I
When Yugi woke up he saw his Grandpa through the small gap sitting asleep at the bedside. He tried to get up, but his body didn’t obey. His eyes automatically closed again when he recalled the Pharaoh’s order to sleep. He fought to stay awake. It was in vain and his body, still under that woman’s spell, forced sleep once more onto him.
The sun was shining through the gab which was the rest of the cave entrance. Kaiba stirred and unconsciously hugged the body above him tightly. He opened his eyes and saw a blond mop resting on his shoulder. His first impulse was to shove that body away until he realized that he was embracing Joey tightly. Looking around he noticed that the light was coming from the entrance which was just wide enough to let twrsonrsons crawling through. The sand had been carried into the cave and almost reached them. So far Kaiba could tell the storm was over. A movement caused him to look at his sleeping puppy who curled up on him. He sighed and rolled Joey from his body onto his cape beside him which had slipped down. Groaning he forced his aching body to get up.
‘Memo to me: Sleeping on a cold stone floor is not good at all for your back.’ He stood up, stretched and walked to the entrance. As soon as he stepped onto the sand he sank in ankle-deep. The sand in front of him immediately filled the holes his feet made. Frowning he took two more steps and sank down a bit over his knees. He shook his head. Without help they wouldn’t be able to get out. He tried to turn around and yelped when more sand slipped down covering his body up to his hips. He froze when he realized that he was stuck, unable to free himself.
“Kaiba? What are you doing?”
“Building a sand castle. Like what does it look that I’m doing?” Kaiba snapped irritated. He glanced over his shoulder and saw Joey approaching him.
“Stay where you are!” Joey froze and looked at Kaiba.
“What?” Kaiba glared at the sand in front of him.
“This is almost like quicksand. If I move to get out more sand comes into the cave. I- argh...” Two hands grabbed him by the arm pits and pulled him in a quick motion out. Kaiba fell backwards and he and Joey scrambled back to avoid getting buried. The moving of the sand stopped and the entrance was now just big enough to fit one person. Joey took one of Kaiba’s hands.
“Are you alright?” Kaiba nodded before he hit Joey’s chin with his fist. Joey growled and drew his own fist back to return the punch. Kaiba caught the flying hand and hissed.
“Don’t do that ever again. You idiot, you were just lucky that we didn’t get buried alive!” Joey glared at Kaiba.
“Oh and you wanted to stand around like that all day?! You owe me big, rich ba-” Joey didn’t get to finish his sentence since Kaiba had pulled him into a lip-bruising kiss. Joey struggled a second before he leant into the kiss. Joey gasped when Kaiba tapped against his lips with his tongue and Kaiba used that opportunity to explore Joey’s mouth. He moaned when he felt Kaiba's tongue running over his own, slowly massaging it.
“Is somebody in there?” The two teens pulled apart at once and got up.
“We’re here!” Joey yelled.
“Be careful, the sand is unsteady!” There was a pause before the person shouted back.
“Step aside!” An end of a rope with a stone as a weight was tossed inside and landed in front of their feet.
“Tie this around you, I’ll pull you out!” Kaiba picked it up and tied it around Joey’s waist.
“You’ll go first.”
“But-” Kaiba silenced him with a kiss.
“Seto...”
“Shush...ok you can pull now!” The rope was pulled tight and Kaiba kissed Joey once more before the blond was pulled up causing more sand to run into thee.
e.
“Seto...” Once outside Joey squinted into the light to see the person who had rescued him.
“Joey?”
“Yami.” There standing beside two horses was Yami. The rope was tied to one of the horses which was pulling him out. He reached the solid ground and removed the rope from his waist.
“Se... Kaiba is still in there. Yami nodded and tied the rope to a second stone which he threw inside again. A few moments later he heard Kaiba yelling that he was ready. Yami lead the horse to pull Kaiba out. Joey saw that huge piles of sand where beside the entrance from which the sand had run into the cave. Suddenly both piles gave away completely closing the small entrance.
“No!” Joey started to run where the entrance had been.
“Joey stop! You can’t help him if you sink into it!” Yami continued to pull on the rope.
Kaiba came up while coughing sand up. Joey grabbed the rope and pulled Kaiba to him until he was onto solid ground.
“Are you alright?” Kaiba ignored him still coughing sand out. He was pale and trembled violently. Joey got onto his knees beside the CEO and put a hand on his shoulder.
“What’s wrong?” Kaiba just shook his head and let himself fall against Joey’s chest. Joey shook Kaiba's shoulder, yet the brunette didn’t respond.
“Here, try this.” Yami handed him a canteen with water. Joey took it and poured it into Kaiba's mouth who swallowed it out of instinct.
Joey drank something too before he gave it back to Yami. Kaiba still didn’t react in any way. Yami looked into Kaiba's blank eyes.
“He nearly suffocated, no wonder he is out like this. We have to get him out of the sun and back to the palace.” Joey got up and guided Kaiba to his feet.
“I take him with me on the other horse.” Yami looked at Joey and nodded.
“Alright. Let me help you get him into the saddle.” A few minutes later all three were on the horses and on their way back to the palace. Kaiba sat in front of Joey who held him upright while guiding the horse with Yami's help. Kaiba suddenly jerked and looked around.
“Are you alright?” Yami asked him concerned. He nodded and looked over his shoulder at Joey who was in turn looking at him worriedly.
“What happened there?” Kaiba growled at him.
“Nothing.”
“That sure didn’t look like nothing to me.”
“I don’t want to talk about it.” He snapped and took the rein out of Joey’s hands.
“I just wanted to help, but if you want to be a jerk, than be one. I don’t care.”
“Fine.”
“Fine.” Yami suppressed his laughter when the thought crossed him that the two were fighting like an old married couple. He hadn’t failed to notice the hickey on Joey’s neck and knew that something had happened between the two in the cave. He hoped for the two that this would work out, considering Joey’s temper and Kaiba’s arrogance. When these two qualities clashed together they could only pray that there wouldn’t get anyone injured. They soon reached the village Thebes and rode through it. (A.n. I know that Thebes shouldn’t be called a village, but in my definition a city is larger so gomen :P)
Joey noticed the change in Yami's behaviour. An air of authority and confidence surrounded him as he sat up straighter in the saddle and rode through the streets. Kaiba’s gestures spoke of the same air of confidence mixed with arrogance. Every person they passed immediately bowed to the Pharaoh until they finally reached the palace. Yami’s high priests were already waiting outside. The three got off of the horses and a stable boy took care of the tired animals.
“My Pharaoh, are you alright?” Yami nodded to Karim.
“I’m fine as are Seto and Jounouchi.” He turned to the two teens behind him.
“I don’t know what you two are going to do, but I’m going to rest for now.” With that Yami walked into the palace and headed to his room. Everyone soon followed inside and followed their duties. Kaiba addressed Karim before he could go back to work.
“The pharaoh doesn’t look like he got much sleep last night.”
“As far as I can tell, he didn’t sleep at all. Shimon informed us that he went out into the storm after he had been told that you and Jounouchi were missing.”
“He risked his life and went into the sandstorm only to find us?” Joey stared unbelievingly at the high priest.
“Yes, he also wanted to search for his look-a-like, but he discovered that this child had been the gift the Romans gave him. Shimon stayed with him over the night in the Pharaoh’s room. Another thing that happened in your absence is that the tomb robber arrived with his own look-a-like.” Karim informed them and went off.
“Yugi, Bakura and Ryou are here? I’m going to see them.” Joey wanted to head to Yami's room but Kaiba took his arm.
can can see him tomorrow. Let the four have time for themselves.” Joey grinned.
“Since when are you that tactful?” Kaiba headed towards his own room and Joey immediately followed. Kaiba looked over his shoulder as he entered his room.
“That’s how a good dog is supposed to be.” Joey growled but was pushed against the door after Kaiba had closed it behind them. Kaiba firmly pressed his mouth against Joey’s before he pulled away and licked at the red mark he had left the night before.
“You know the bed would be more comfortable.” Joey sighed and shook his head.
“Sorry to disappoint you, but I didn’te the that in my mind.” Kaiba regarded him for a second before he pressed his body against Joey and began to suck on Joey’s neck. Joey fought to keep his control.
“We need to talk, Seto.”
“About what, my pup?” Kaiba whispered huskily in Joey’s ear. Joey’s legs almost gave out under him.
“I forgot...no wait, stop that you’re distracting me. We need to talk about what happened at the cave.” Kaiba pulled away and glared at Joey.
“I told you that I don’t want to talk about this.”
“Maybe you don’t want to, but I do. What happened? Why did you zoon out like this after we rescued you?” Kaiba pulled completely away and turned his back to Joey.
“Nothing happened.”
“That hadn’t been ‘nothing’.”
“You wouldn’t understand, so drop it.” Joey walked up to Kaiba and placed a hand on the brunette’s tense shoulder.
“What wouldn’t I understand?” Kaiba sneered and headed to the door. He opened it only to have it banged shut again. Joey had stepped in front of him and held the door closed.
“You didn’t answer my question.”
“And I won’t answer it.” They glared at each other.
“Then we’re going to stay here for a very long time, cause I won’t let you get out without giving me a decent answer.”
“Do what you want, you won’t stand without food for long, mutt.” Joey sat onto the floor with his back resting against the door.
“We’ll see moneybags.”
Yami entered his room and sighed tiredly. Salomon looked up when he hear the door getting closed.
“Yami? Did you find them?” Yami nodded and looked at the sleeping Yugi. He glanced to the balcony where the position of the sun told him how late it already was.
“Did Yugi sleep all the time?”
“As far as I can tell yes. By the look of it you could do with some sleep too.” Yami nodded and went to change into something comfortable to sleep in.
“I go so you can get some rest.”
“Thank you for staying with Yugi, grandfather.” Salomon nodded and left the two alone. Yami yawned and got beside Yugi into the bed. The small movement of the bed woke Yugi up.
“Afternoon Aibou. Did you sleep well?”
“Very well, Your Highness.” Yami caressed Yugi's cheek.
“The drug is still working, huh?” Yugi's blank eyes stared at him.
“I am sorry, I don’t understand, my Pharaoh.”
“You are not yourself Yugi. Someone gave you some kind of drug which made you act like you currently do.” Yugi pondered over this for a second.
“I still don’t understand.”
“You’ll ustanstand this when the drug doesn’t work anymore.” He gave Yugi a peek on the forehead.
“Wait a second. You told me yesterday that you would do everything that I told you, didn’t you? Do you obey to other people also?” Yami asked and thought that if Yugi would, someone just needed to tell him to jump from somewhere high and Yugi would hurry to follow that order.
unl unless Your Highness wishes me to do so.”
“No... no it’s better this way.” Yami lay down and closed his tired itching eyes, insomnia causing his head to ache slightly.
“Does the Pharaoh wish to be left alone?” Yami kept his eyes closed and smiled.
“You are free to do what you would like to do Aibou. I’m just going to sleep a bit.”
“Then I wish you to rest well my Pharaoh.” Yugi was fighting again against his invisible bounds.
~No, Yami stay awake! You mustn’t sleep! Not now!~ He saw that it was already too late as Yami's breath evened. He started to cry helplessly as his body got up and went silently into the wardrobe. He picked up one of the cords Yami used to fasten his kilts and went back to the sleeping from of his yami.
~Stop! Stop! Please no! Stop!~ Looking at the calm face of his Dark he could hear the woman’s voice in his head giving an order.
‘And once he is asleep you will kill the pharaoh!’ Arching his back his bonds still held him in place.
~Yami! Wake up! Yami!~ Placing the cord around Yami's neck he looked at him before he pulled it tight with all his might. Yami's eyes snapped open as he struggled to get a breath in and he clawed at the cord.
“Yu……gi?” Yugi was sobbing uncontrollably knowing that no sound was heard by his yami. Yami was helplessly gasping for air, trying to lose Yugi's grip on the cord while he started to suffocate slowly and painfully. His face turned little by little blue as he couldn’t get any oxygen into his lungs. His struggling got weaker with each passing moments and Yami's eyes got glassy as they slid halfway closed. With his last strength he forced his strained vocal chords to speak.
“Yu…..gi…..I…..I…love…..you….” A hard blow to his back threw Yugi ahead and he found himself in control of his body again. He gasped and immediately loosened the cord, noticing the red marks they had left. Desperate he shook Yami's shoulders.
“Yami? Yami! Please wake up!” Leaning down to Yami's mouth he tried to feel Yami's breathing tickling his skin. Nothing.
‘No, please. No!’ He quickly pressed his mouth against Yami's and blew air into the lungs. He desperately tried to remember what he had learned about first-aid. Sobbing he gave Yami a heart massage, not sure if he was doing it right and if it helped at all. He blew air again into Yami's lungs when Yami suddenly started to cough and hungrily gulped air in. ‘Yes!’ Yami was still unconscious. Yugi removed the cord completely from Yami's neck as three guards entered alerted by his previous shouts. A few seconds passed as they stared in shock at the scene before them until one of the guards turned cold angry eyes to Yugi.
“Get a healer here. Take that boy to the dungeon.” One of the guards immediately hurried out again while another drew his sword and approached Yugi. Yugi gulped and slowly raised his hand to show that he wouldn’t resist the cord still in one hand. The guard put his sword away, took the cord and used it to tie Yugi's hands tightly behind his back. Yugi bit his lips when he was pulled up harshly twisting his arms painfully. Yugi heard running footsteps heading to the room. He looked up and saw that the other guard had returned with two other persons behind him. The woman that was with him hurried to Yami's side. Yugi glanced at the third person. His insides froze when he realized that he was looking at his grandfather who took the whole scene in in confusion. Ashamed Yugi looked onto the floor not being able to meet his grandfather’s eyes which turned looking to him.
“What hapd hed here?” The guard who had ordered everyone around stepped up to Yugi and grabbed him roughly by one upper arm.
“That boy here murdered the Pharaoh. He is a traitor send by the Romans so they can try to take over!”
“Yugi?” Yugi shook uncontrollably and tears ran down his cheeks as he finally really comprehended what he nearly had done.
“It’s true…” He whispered softly. The guard dragged him towards the door while Yugi didn’t even try to resist.
“You killed the Pharaoh and you’ll get what you deserve! The lynching will be held this evening!” Salomon gasped and was about to protest but the woman spoke up at that.
“The Pharaoh is alive. He is just unconscious and that means there is no lynching without his conscience. Beside I doubt that you would be in the right position to order something like that.” The guard growled and pulled Yugi's chin up forcing the smaller man to look at him.
“You are just lucky that you failed and the Pharaoh is alive.”
“I don’t think that he failed. By the looks of the imprints that rope left the boy had succeeded. No one should have been able to survive that. So the question is why would he kill our Pharaoh and rescue him after he managed to do it.” The guard didn’t give Yugi time to explain.
“That only shows that our Pharaoh really descended from the great Ra himself.” He shook Yugi again hardly.
“The Pharaoh forbade us to execute anyone, but that doesn’t mean we cannot punish you for what you did.” The guard dragged Yugi through the door.
“Wait. He had been drugged when he had been brought here. What if he is just a victim who had been used for this?” The guard snorted.
“With all respect Shimon, there is no drug that has such a long durance without killing the drugged person. And as you can see that boy is very much alive … still alive.”
“Don’t you need the permission of the Pharaoh to punish someone?” The guard shook his head while Yugi closed his eyes and spoke up before the guard could say something.
“It’s alright. I’m just getting what I deserve.”
“Yugi…you don’t know what you’re getting into.” Yugi didn’t reply and Grandpa could only watch as the guard dragged his grandson along. Yugi stumbled and nearly fell but the guard continued to drag him along without giving him time to get to his feet again and without paying attention to Yugi. They got to a colder corridor which ended in front of a massive wooden door. The guard pulled it open and forcefully pushed Yugi in. Yugi staggered and fell onto the hard uneven stone floor which caused his left side on which he fell to bleed at various places.
“Get up!” Yugi slowly got up to his knees before he was roughly pulled up completely. Yugi clenched his teeth at the pain which shot through his body. He shivered when he noticed the cells which lined both sides of the dark corridor. The guard opened one of the wooden doors and threw Yugi in. He closed the door loudly behind Yugi. Shivering Yugi got up hardly seeing a thing in the small cell which was windowless. He nearly gagged at the smell that penetrated his nose. The smell in the cell was heavy with pain, blood and death. Fear made his body numb and he wished that he had let his Grandpa continue to defend him so that he didn’t have to endure this. He shook his head but couldn’t shake the feeling off that he actually deserved that treatment. He nearly killed his love. Tears ran down his cheeks again and he used his shoulder to wipe them away. He finally made out a bare cot in the dark room at one side wall and walked over to it. He sat down and winced when he noticed how numb his hands and arms had gotten.
Some time later the door was pulled open and three men entered. One of them had some kind of cloth in his hands. The two others pulled him up and held him in place while the third removed the clothes his grandfather must have put onto him the night before. The cloth the third guard had was a very short kilt which was put onto him and barely covered his bottom. He was pushed back causing him to land onto his numb arms as the guards let go of him. He screamed out in pain. The only reaction he got was the chuckling of the guards as they threw the door close leaving him again shivering in the darkness.
To be continued…….
I decided to split that chapter since it would have taken another eternity to type the other half (or even more than a half) too.

It’s now 2:00 am in Germany and I’m going to bed ;)
