Welcome to Chapter 26! This chapter will be more upbeat than the previous chapters! So hold the sad
waterworks for now, and enjoy this chapter! (Seth/Yugi/Atemu: Wait! Me: Huh? Yugi: Who gets POV
duties for this chapter? Me: Seth starts, then it switches. Atemu: To Who? Me: All three of you may do
it. I haven't made up my mind yet.)
Chapter 26: Of a Different Sight
"But Atemu, why were my parents so worried and said there was something wrong?"
Laughter...why is he laughing?!
"They over do everything! The virus, Death's Toll will not kill me instead, it will leave me slightly
blind and a little mental at times. But what else would you expect? Half of my brain is permamently
damaged."
"Atemu..."
"Don't feel sorry for me. I'm still the same cousin you know and love. Seth, you know even though I
wasn't born and raised here in Egypt, and we rarely see each other for extended times like this, I still
consider you as my best friend. I can talk to you about anything. Remember that day, seven years ago,
when I told you that my angel was so close, yet so far away from me?"
"You were speaking of Yugi then, weren't you?"
In school all thier lives together and they finally talk to each other their Junior year of high school.
"You were the first to know that I was gay...even before my parents or anyone else in Japan ever
suspected a thing. Even now, people who've been knowing me for years don't know that I'm gay."
Seven years ago to the date; July 10th was when you told me.
"You were the first to know that I started to fall in love with Yugi in Grade 5. You called me crazy then,
but did you actually think I was playing?"

"When he came to class that day, he wore a smile bigger than the world. It was like he wore it for me,

that day, but it was like we could read each other. Our message to each other then: Our love will never

now, I'd give anything..."

"Anything to see him smiling at me, to give me the same look he gave to me that day, to see his skin
blush the way it did while we were flirting with each other."

(Domino City, Japan) *Yugi's POV*
I don't know wheter to be happy or sad...
No, that isn't a question! Atemu has regained consciousness! I even talked to him!
He won't die! He won't leave me! Even if you are blind and your brain isn't as sharp as before, it will
not change my love for you, ever.
"I'm so glad he's woken up!" Jou says to me as we lay on my bed and stare at the stars.
"I am too Jou."
"There's something I'm still puzzled about."

"You and Kaiba. Both of you have twins... I mean look-a-likes."
"They say that everyone in the world has a look-a-like." I say as I mentally trace the stars into the

"He is going blind you know. He's going to be running into everything." Jou says trying to cheer me
up.
It works a little as I laugh at the joke.
"I'm so glad he's somewhat cured of Death's Toll. I guess why they call it that is because if death
doesn't get you, then something has to pay the toll." I say sighing...

November. Only one more month before Atemu can get the medicine.
We've been talking to each other as much as possible. It's been hard sometimes since school started
back in August.
Of course, I'm still a 'celebrity' at school. The media has been following me around like crazy. It's
hard for me to even take a piss in peace without someone from the media asking me about the toilet I
use and the brand of toilet paper I prefer.
"So, Yugi-kun, rumor is that you and Atemu-kun are dating."
Nothing about me is secret is it?! I guess they know my dick touches my knee too...standing up.
"If you really want to know the truth, then the truth is that Atemu-kun and I are very close friends."
"How close is close Yugi-kun?"
"As close as you are to your best friend." I say then dash out the bathroom and down the hall.
It's been like this with me and the media. A huge game of cat and mouse.
I watch as the camera crew runs past me...and Jou, whose locker I'm stashed in.
Give me a break, I'm desperate to get away from them!
"Come on. The coast is clear." whispers Jou as I crawl out his locker.
"Arigatou, Jou. I'll see you in class, ok."
"No problem. See you later."
(Alexandria, Egypt) *Atemu's POV*
"About 75% is gone. Hopefully the medicine will be enough to completely stop the process." my
doctor informs me. "But, I don't know what to say. You are a miracle Atemu."
That, I realize I am.
"For some reason or another, the virus has taken a different route in your system that usual. Instead
of directly attacking your brain, it's mostly attacked your optic nerve and eyes, and only a small part
of your brain. Your immune system will fully recover in a month or so. The damage to it wasn't as
severe as first thought. The virus was sending false signals to our machines, signaling that it was
directly attacking your brain."
"Doctor, please tell me that I will be able to go back to Japan. I must return to Yugi."
"Wait another month Atemu, after you recieve the medicine. After you evaluation, we will be able to
determine if you can travel abroad. The medicine should be able to destroy any remaints of the virus
in your eyes, but the little that remain in your brain can not be destroyed without causing pernament
brain damage."
"What about my eyes? After the virus is destroyed?"
"After the medicine, your eyes will remain at 75% damage. I would suggest laser correction surgery,
but your eyes will be so sensitive to laser light, that it will cause 100% damage.
Some sight is better than none.
"That's fine, I can live in a world full of black and white blobs."

December is finalyl here! I'm really sick and tired of being in this hospital. The staff is great, but I
prefer to be at home...my 2nd home in Japan with Yugi.
'knock knock'
The door opens...it's hard to see who it is exactly. Everything's so black and white now. I'm
completely color blind and what little I do see, it's like looking at a huge moving blob...like the one
walking in my room.
I hear a click...a radio?
'Atemu, please tell me who I am.'
Another click... Stupid game.
I feel and hear the person come closer and touch my hands.
"Seth." I say immediately. "I know it's you."
"Wow! How'd you know?! Maybe you can see better than I thought."
You're a black and white blob of movement to me Seth...
"I guess when you lose one of your senses, the other four get enhansed and much more sensitive. I
could tell by the pattern of your footsteps and your smell, that you are Seth."
"Smell?! Are you calling me stinky now?"
"No, no. Don't think of it like that. Everyone has their own unique scent. My sense of smell is very
enhansed now to the point where if there are many people in a room, then I could tell who everyone
is by their own special scent."
I feel like a dog. Maybe I should get a job with the K-9 unit as the K-9.
"I'm going to test that sometime soon Atemu."
'knock knock'
I hear the creaking of the door as it opens and closes.
"Doctor." I say.
I hear Seth gasp and the doctor tells me, "Nicely done!"
"How'd you know that?!" asks Seth.
I laugh. Pretty soon he's going to think I'm into the forbidden black magic.
"He smells like this hospital and...his favorite drink, buffalo milk."
I hear sniffing. I don't think you can smell it Seth.
"I don't smell any buffalo milk! You're just saying that! The two of you set me up!"
My doctor and I couldn't help but laugh at Seth.
"Atemu, the medicine will be here shortly." the doctor informs me. "You know the routine."
"Take it, be knocked out for a week, wake up feeling like a million."
Great. And there goes another week of my life.
"Oyasuminasai, Atemu." teases Seth.
I haven't even gotten the medicine yet!
"Oh will you just zip it." I tell him.
"When you wake up, then there is a good chance that you will be able to return to Domino City,
Japan and this time, for good."
