Chapter 25October 25, 2011 Dear Bakura, The pran

October 25, 2011

Dear Bakura,
The pranking memory? I wonder why you didn’t get that one first, but still it is rather amusing. As for whether our love caused us to have enemies, well, we are currently separated.  However, to ease your mind, I’m not sure if it caused us to have enemies because we are in love or because of who we are. Perhaps, it is because we weren’t so easily controlled, but either way, we will have our revenge.  I apologize if this letter seems… colder than others, at least at the end. For this next part, you need to take the substance and put it on your legs.  I’d suggest sitting down first since you may not be able to walk afterwards. The memories will shift from pleasant if I understood it right.  I’m sorry. ~Love Yuugi

Bakura read the letter and then prepared for the next part of the ritual.  He didn’t think it sounded cold, but maybe it was because seeing himself and Yuugi in love like that made him understand the frustration better than he would have before this.  His missing lover did have a point, neither of them could be so easily controlled in their little group from the memories that he has received.  If that was the case, then maybe, maybe that is why Atem didn’t look happy about their engagement or the weird looks he gave them when he thought no one would notice.  As he spread the substance on his legs, he secretly wondered if he could ever look at any of them the same.

Where was he?  Bakura wondered as he was searching through the streets looking for Yuugi.  He was supposed to be home hours ago and now he had no idea where his lover could be.  Bakura truly hoped that nothing happened to Yuugi or else he would never forgive himself.  He was also worried about how many people had tried to ‘attack’ Yuugi lately and how they all seemed to end up. In fact, he was almost positive that his little lover had been changing well past something normal, but he never managed to catch him.  Perhaps, it would be today that he could find out what was really happening with him.

Bakura would’ve breathed a sigh of relief when he found Yuugi if not for the noticeable feeling of shadow magic and the stench of blood in the air.  He looked down at the shorter male with look of shock and disbelief on his features.  Here they were in this tiny little abandoned building and there was Yuugi holding a knife in his hands and slowly carving little symbols into the man’s skin.  The man’s dead face held clear terror on it as pieces of him were next to the body.  Bakura walked forward as his foot hit something else.  It was then that he truly looked down at the area.

A bit of bile came up from his stomach.  There were bodies everywhere, in various stages of decay, and it was only thanks to shadow magic that the smell of the death hadn’t permeated the room. The realization that Yuugi had been using shadow magic so much sent shivers through him. Shadow magic wasn’t always a good thing and who knows what that idiot pharaoh would do if he found out.  “What is this, Yuugi? Where did you learn shadow magic?” he asked trying to keep himself calm and causing Yuugi to look up with a light smile. “Fun.  I’m allowed to have fun, right?”  Yuugi asked with that same dark smile that Bakura had seen quite a few times before now. “As for the shadow magic, well, let’s say I just picked it up.”  “This is not supposed to be fun.  Why are you doing this?  You can’t just kill a bunch of people.  What if you get caught?! I can’t stand by and let you do this.”

“Let me? What makes you think you could stop me, Bakura?” Yuugi said with a bit of anger sliding into his voice as he stabbed his knife into the chest of the dead body he had been carving symbols into. “How can you keep doing this? Don’t you even understand what you are doing to yourself?! How can you be so damn ok with this and how everything is going? This isn’t you!” “I’m pretty sure I would know myself Bakura. You can’t tell me that this isn’t me! You don’t know me.”

Bakura looked like he had been slapped. “I don’t know you, Yuugi.  I don’t know you’ve been getting worse.  I don’t know that you’ve seemed almost addicted to pain both getting it and causing it. Fine. I guess I don’t know you.  You’re just a copy of Atem right? You couldn’t care less about anything including me, right?” It was now Yuugi’s turn to look as though he had been slapped. “Bakura… that’s not… I do… care about… I love you…”  “Do you?” Bakura asked as he turned around and left Yuugi there.

“Of course, I do…” Yuugi whispered as he watched Bakura leave.

When Bakura woke up from this memory, he could feel his body twitching a bit as he laid there with his eyes opened.  They were definitely out of the sweet memories for now, but he felt as though he could remember more of them including this memory.  Yuugi said he was experiencing the memories with him and so that had to be why he had heard Yuugi’s affirmation of loving him after he left.  He hated that they fought and the way he partially wanted to throw up from the memory of that smell.

Bakura could remember the feelings that he felt in that memory.  He remembered the shock, the fear, the sickness, the anger, and on top of everything, the beginnings of hopelessness that he wouldn’t be able to help Yuugi.  It was getting bad and he hadn’t realized it.  The memories of how they made up flooded his mind.  He wasn’t going to give on Yuugi then and he wouldn’t now.  When he finally moved, he wrote his letter and went to try to eat something.
