First Step again
POV Seto
I felt myself blush at the wondrous expression on the beauty’s face at what he called me… Blue eyes, I could live with that. Actually it sounded somewhat familiar…
“So, will you be here later?” He asked rhetorically, and I blushed even deeper with embarrassment. Of course I would be here later. We both knew I had nowhere else to go!
I was about to lower my head again – too embarrassed to look any longer into those beautiful, pitying bestowing orbs – but I found that he wouldn’t let me. With a finger under my chin he forced me to keep eye contact. If it had been anyone else, I would have punched their lights out for touching me like that, but as it was… how could I resist his soft, soft fingers and gentle face?
“Don’t hide. You are much too beautiful for that.” He said and grinned when he saw that my visage had now changed to the color of a tomato. “See ya later.” He winked and turned around, leaving me to stare at his retreating back…and what a fine back it was…
I sighted to myself. How was it, that ever since the first time I saw him I couldn’t stop admiring him? Sure, he was handsome, but I don’t think I’m that kind of person to be impressed by sheer beauty. Of course, what would I know about myself, since I don’t even remember my own name.
POV Jou
I couldn’t believe myself. Enrique had been trying to get into my pants for months now – everything from shoving his tongue into my mouth, to feeling me up – but none of it had caused even the slightest rise in my pants. Yet all it took was for this stranger to look at me with his deep, deep blue eyes and I was done for.
It didn’t feel like love at first sight – I don’t believe that exists anyway – but like something much deeper. Like we were connected with each other, like I knew him from somewhere, like he was the person that was missing from my life…I stopped in my tracks. Was it that? Was he the someone that…
“Jou? Are you okay?”
I looked up in confusion and when I realized where I was and who had said my name I was even more confused. I had been so lost in thought that I had arrive at Kaiba Corp, at Mokuba’s office, without even realizing it.
“Ung…yeah, sure.” I said awkwardly, looking at Mokuba’s perplexed expression as he stood in the doorway. What had I been musing so deeply about, to make me lose track of where I was going? Strange, I couldn’t remember at all…
“Alright then, come in.”
I quickly stepped into the office, only to realize that I was the last one to arrive.
Mokuba took seat behind his desk and eyed us all seriously. “Guys, I know I’ve asked a lot of you lately and I feel really uncomfortable asking for even more… but, there’s this tournament coming up next month and, well, my secretary said that it’s been planned for months now and I…well, I must have forgotten about it. And now everyone at the company has done their part expect for me…”
I looked around. Apparently the same thought running through my head seemed to be running through everyone else’s too. Finally Yami said: “Of course we will help you Mokuba, no question there. But how could you forget about this tournament? This doesn’t seem like the determined, workaholic CEO of Kaiba Corp. at all.”
Mokuba sighed, “I know. I’m sure it seems like me and the CEO of a couple of month ago are two, completely different people. In fact, ever since…” Mokuba suddenly lost his voice and buried his head in his hands. It was if he was consumed by a terrible pain. Then he sighed again in resignation. “I don’t know what triggered it, but it doesn’t feel right to me. Sitting in this chair, in this office, ruling this company, it feels like it shouldn’t be me sitting here…”
Everyone looked at him in confusion. Yugi looked even a bit scared for the young CEO´s sanity, but I knew exactly what he was talking about. Before I could say anything though, Ryou cleared his throat and spoke up. “I’m sure it’s just the stress Mokuba. And now you’re starting to doubt yourself because you forgot about this tournament. Don’t let yourself down. I’m sure that once this tournament is over, you’ll feel like your old self again, so…what was it you needed help with?”
Mokuba didn’t seem all that convinced, but shook is head and pulled out a big stack of papers.
It was almost five hours later when we all left the Kaiba building, exhausted, and loaded with a ton of work.
It was drizzling and freezing cold and I was tempted to accept Honda’s offer to take me home. But then I remembered that poor blue eyes, was probably still sitting in the park.
“Thanks, but I think I’ll just walk. Talk to ya later.” Honda shrugged his shoulders and took Otogi in his arms before turning to his car.
By the time I arrived at the park it was raining buckets and I was drenched. I was both relived and disappointed when I didn’t see blue eyes on the usual spot on the park bank. That was until I turned to leave and spotted something under a big oak tree. There under the almost leafless tree was my blue eyes, trying unsuccessfully to hide from the rain.
Slowly I walked over to him and held out my hand spontaneously. “You can come with me if you like.”
He looked from my face to the extended hand and back to my eyes. Slowly he reached out and grapes my hand.
Normal POV
Ra looked somewhat unpleased as he gazed down on earth. It seemed like he had made it a bit too easy for the young ex-CEO and his lover. It seemed like sealing their memories and keeping them from remembering each other wasn’t enough to keep them apart. Apparently, he should have just killed him – an eye for an eye after all. Ah whatever, they wouldn’t fully remember each other until after they confessed their love for one another and Ra knew that could take ages. Humans – as it was common knowledge – were idiots when it came to love after all.
