Chapter Twenty

~Halloween~
Black and orange ribbons hang down the white walls of the living room, a card board scene is pinned the wall next to the dining room door with a large orange pumpkin in the middle of two black and white skeletons. A large bowl of candle sits on the coffee table surround by several small orange candles, their flames casting small shadows over the wrappings of the candy. A horror movie plays on the television, Bakura sitting in the chair closest to the kitchen, his dark brown eyes glued to the screen as he reaches for a piece of candy only to yelp and draw his hand back quickly.
“Told you to watch out for the candles.” Ryou says without looking up from his book as he sits on the sofa, his legs stretched out over the cushions.
“Ryou, what are you doing?” Marik walks behind the sofa, stopping and looking down at the small white haired boy.
“Reading.”
“I can see that.” The pale blonde growls.
“Don’t growl at my hikari.” Bakura says, his eyes not leaving the screen.
“Then why did you ask?”
“I meant what are you reading.”
“A pregnancy book Jade gave us.”
“Finding anything usefully?” Yugi comes down the stairs, moving to sit in the other chair.
“I guess. Did you know that in the fourth mouth the fetus is around five inches long and weighs nearly four ounces? It’s just big enough to cradle in your hand.” Ryou looks over at the smaller boy, a smile spreading across his face.
“Really? Oh, that’s so sweet.”
“Whatever.” Marik shakes his head, moving from behind the sofa to the dining room.
“Don’t you dare eat any of that food.” Ryou yells after the tall pale blonde.
“Yeah, yeah.”
“I mean it, Marik. Don’t make me wake Malik up.”
“Alright, alright, just keep your voice down.” The pale blonde yami quickly reenters the living room, walking over and sitting on the sofa near Ryou’s bare feet.
“Scared of your hikari?” Bakura smirks, his dark brown eyes finally moving away from the television to look at the tanned yami.
“You would be too if Ryou was half as out of control as Malik is.”
“He isn’t out of control, he is just having mood swings.” Ryou corrects.
“I don’t care what they’re called, he is crazy.”
“Don’t let him hear you say that.” Yugi giggles.
“What are you doing out here anyway, runt? Why aren’t you keeping an eye on the Pharaoh to make sure he doesn’t eat anything.” Marik ask.
“Because I can trust Yami besides he isn’t here.”
“Where is he?”
“He went to get some things from our house for our costumes.” Yugi sticks his tongue out at the pale blonde.
“What are you two going to be?” Ryou turns to sit properly on the sofa, the book closing in his lap.
“You’ll just have to wait and find out since you won’t tell us what you and Bakura are going to be.”
“I’ll tell you.” Bakura smirks.
“Don’t you dare, Kura. We’re waiting for tonight to show everyone.”
“I can’t wait to see what the Priest is dressing up as.” Marik chuckles. “I can just picture him in a little pink tutu.”
“Bad mental image.” Bakura shivers slightly.
“Speaking of Seto, have you thought of what to get Joey for his birthday next month, Ryou?” Yugi turns his attention back to the other hikari.
“I have no idea what to get him. With him being with Seto now he has pretty much everything he could want.”
“I know. Seto spoils him like he does to Mokuba.” The smallest boy smiles brightly. “I think it’s sweet.”
“Who cares, when can we eat?” Marik asks.
“In a little while after we get dressed.” Ryou rolls his eyes.
“But I’m hungry now.” The pale blonde whines.
“Stop it or I’ll wake Malik.”
“Stop threatening me with my hikari.” Marik growls.
“Stop growling at my hikari.” Bakura growls over to the pale blonde.
“Oh, would you guys just shut up already!” A yell comes floating down the stairs.
“Sorry, Malik.” Ryou calls up.
“Why are you all so loud? Doesn’t anyone know I’m trying to take a nap? I’d like some quiet just once in this house, that’s all I ask. I don’t think that’s anything too big to ask for but obviously I’m wrong.” Malik says as he comes down the stairs, walking behind the sofa and into the kitchen.
“Go talk to him.” Ryou mouths at the pale blonde yami who just shakes his head furiously. “Go.”
“Do you think I have a death wish?” Marik hisses lowly.
“Marik, bring me some candy!”
“Ryou won’t…”
“He’ll be right there!” Ryou quickly yells, reaching over to slap Marik on the arm before whispering to him. “Don’t get him mad at me.”
“You’re the one who won’t let me have any.”
“Malik can have whatever he wants in this mood. Now go take him some candy.”
The pale blonde yami sighs, rolling his dark violet eyes before getting up and grabbing a handful of candy from the bowl on the coffee table. He quickly moves to the swinging door of the kitchen only to slowly down as he enters, Bakura chuckles as he watches, shaking his head slightly.
“Idiot.” Bakura mumbles under his breath.
“Anyway, are any of the others stopping by tonight, Yugi?” Ryou turns his attention back to the smallest boy in the room.
“I don’t know. I told Tristian and Duke about it yesterday at school but they said they might not be able to come, they have somewhere else to go. And I…I didn’t really ask Tea.” Yugi looks away sheepishly.
“Really? Why not?”
“Because I didn’t feel like having her hang all over me. I mean really, do you want her here tonight?”
“Not really, good point.”
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
A loud knock echoes off the front door and up the stairs, the sound bouncing off the walls down the hallway. A door at the end of the hall to the left opens, a small form with tri-colored spiky hair stepping out, slim hands fidgeting with a gold band around his upper arm. A short white skirt covers his lower body with a gold rope tied around his tiny waist, a golden cord arm band on his left arm, dark brown sandals cover his feet.
A taller tri-colored haired boy follows him out of the room, a similar white skirt hanging off his slim hips, a gold sash tied around his waist. Golden bracelets, arm bands, rings, and ankle bracelets adorn his body, a small head dress with dangling beads of teal and white sits on his head. The thick chain with the Millennium Puzzle hangs around his neck, a pair of sandals similar to the shorter boy’s rest on his feet.
“We’ll get the door.” Yugi calls as the two make their way down the stairs.
The small hikari opens the door with a smile, greeting their three friends on the other side. Mokuba stands in front of the two taller boys, his raven colored hair covered in dirt and dried leaves, his face painted with white and grayish makeup, a large fake gash running from his eyebrow to his chin on the right side of his face. He wears an old, cut up shirt covered in dirt and fake red blood, his pants are in a similar state, his sneakers are old with even more dirt on them, the left one ripped across the outside. A large orange pumpkin with an evil grin makes up a bucket in his left hand.
Behind him Seto stands in a pair of tight black leather pants, a equally tight black shirt hugging his chest, one of his long black trench coats hanging snuggling on his body, the bottom flaring out around his long legs, a pair of black boots finishing his look. Joey stands next to the brunette, a blush over his slightly tanned face as his arms move to try and block his body. A flimsy light green, no sleeved fairy dress hangs loosely on his slim form, the end stopping just above his knees, a matching green pair of elf shoes on his feet. Attached to the back of his outfit is a set of large wings, their surface covered in green and silver glitter, which catch the light and sparkle.
“Nice custom, Joey.” Yami covers his mouth as he chuckles at the sandy blonde.
“Shut up, Yami.” Joey growls as he moves into the house with the other two.
“Why did you choose a fairy?” Yugi asks with a large grin on his face.
“I didn’t. I lost a bet with Seto and this is what he choose for me to wear.”
“And what are you, Kaiba?” Yami looks the brunette up and down.
“Nothing.”
“Seto wouldn’t dress up. He said it was too childish.” Mokuba speaks up.
“He would have it I had won.” Joey mumbles.
“And you would be…a…little dead person?” Yami raises an eyebrow at the raven-haired boy.
“I’m a zombie.”
“Cool. Won’t some candy?” Yugi points over to the bowl on the coffee table, his light purple eyes watching as the younger boy makes his way over to it.
“Okay, I can see that Yami is a Pharaoh…” Joey motions to the tall tri-colored haired boy’s outfit.
“Very original.” Seto shakes his head.
“But what are you, Yug?”
“I’m his servant.”
“Nice. At least I’m not the only one wearing a dress.” Joey smiles.
“Seto, can I go now?” Mokuba comes back to the others, his violet eyes pleading up at his big brother.
“Fine but stay on this street. Go up and down on each side and be back here by no later than eight. Make sure your cell is on and call me if you need anything.” The brunette opens the door for his brother.
“Yes, sir. You do know I’m not a kid any more, right?”
“Then why are you going trick or treating?”
“Candy.”
“Go and be careful.” Icy blue eyes watch the small form retreating down the porch and to the sidewalk before closing the door.
“I’m surprised you aren’t going with him.” Yami remarks as he moves into the living room with the others close behind him.
“I had to talk him out of that.” Joey says.
“I can’t help the fact I’m worried about my little brother.” Seto growls.
“Where are the others?” Joey sits down on the sofa, dragging his lover to sit next to him, making sure not to crush his wings.
“Getting ready. They should be done soon. I can’t wait to see what they are.” Yugi stretches his arms above his head.
“You don’t know what…I hate you.”
“Nani? Why?” Yugi lowers his arms, pouting slightly at his sandy blonde friend.
“You aren’t even showing yet.”
“And you are?”
“He is starting to get a little bulge.” Seto speaks up.
“Well, my clothes are becoming a little snugger. We’ll have to go shopping soon.”
“Yeah. Are the other’s showing yet?”
“I think Malik is.”
“What am I?” Malik comes into the room an off white toga wrapped around his body, his right shoulder hanging out, the bottom ending at his knees, a black piece of fabric wrapped around his wasit. A pair of sandals rest on his feet, laces wrapping around his legs to his knees, a green laurel rest around his pale blonde head.
“A Roman?” Joey smiles at the pale blonde hikari.
“Yes but that isn’t what I meant. What where you guys taking about?” Malik moves over to sit in the chair closest to the stairs.
“Joey is starting to show and I told him you were too.” Yugi answers.
“Yeah, I’ve got a little bump.” Malik rubs his belly.
“I can’t wait for my hikari to get big and round.” Yami moves behind his lover, wrapping his arms around the smaller boy’s waist, his fingers spreading out over the smooth belly.
“Well I can.” Yugi leans back into his yami.
“Can I have candy now?” Marik asks from the bottom of the stairs, a black and silver gladiator outfit covering his form, a large round shield is strapped to his back by a thick leather band. Black leather boots encase his legs up to his knees, his muscular legs and arms shine with a light sheen of sweat.
“One bar.” Malik smiles sweetly as his love practically runs to the bowl. “Where is your sword?”
“Bakura has it in his room. I told them to bring it down when they were done.”
“Why does he have it?”
“We’re trusting Marik with a sword?” Yami asks.
“Bite me, Pharaoh. He wanted to look at it, kitsune.” Marik sits on the arm of his hikari’s chair, his hands opening a candy bar.
“That can’t be good.” Joey speaks up, his head leaning on Seto’s shoulder.
“Kura, stop it. Leave it alone.”
Ryou enters the room, his hands waving off his lover’s hands from his bottom, he wears a skimpy, tight white custom in the shape of a woman’s bathing suit, the top wrapping around under his arms, trimmed in light pink. White cuffs are on his wrist, white stockings covering his slim legs, a pair of white stilettos on his feet, a pair of bunny ears rest high on his white head and a large, fluffy bunny tail sits on the low of his back.
Bakura continues to mess with the fluffy tail on his lover, his own custom that of a pirate, tiny beads hanging in his slightly dirty hair, a dark red bandana wrapped around his head. His clothes are dirty and in wild array on his body, a sword is strapped to his left side, his leather boots padding across the floor as he follows his lover further into the room, another, larger sword in his hand.
“Kura, leave my tail alone.” Ryou hisses, swatting Bakura’s hand away again.
“Awe, Ryou, our cute little bunny.” Yugi smiles at his pale friend.
“Looks to me like our cute little playboy bunny.” Malik grins.
“Bakura…you look familiar.” Joey stares the taller white haired yami up and down.
“He is Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.” Ryou smiles over at his love, his hands reaching up to fix a couple beads hanging in the white hair.
“Now I see it, the white hair just threw me off.”
“What the hell are you?” Bakura dark brown eyes finally land on the sandy blonde.
“A fairy.” Joey mumbles. “Not my idea. I lost a bet with Seto.”
“Don’t take this the wrong way, Joey, but you don’t look right in a dress.” Ryou giggles.
“Well thanks for you input, sex bunny.”
“You got my sword?” Marik gets up and moves next to the white haired yami.
“Yeah.” Bakura hands the larger sword to the pale blonde, watching as he places it on a hook on his belt.
“Why are we trusting these two with swords?” Yami asks, his eyes following every move the other two yamis make.
“Because I’ve already threatened Kura.” Ryou smiles.
“And Marik knows better than to mess with me when I’m pregnant.” Malik picks at the hem of his toga.
“So is anyone coming tonight or is it just going to be us?” Yugi asks.
“Looks like just us, but at least we dressed for the trick or treaters.” Ryou runs his slim fingers over Joey’s sparkling wings.
“I don’t know if you should answer the door. You might traumatize some of the kids.” Yugi giggles as he reaches out to touch the fluffy bunny tail.
“Don’t touch the tail.” Ryou swats his small hands away.
“I’m going to get something to drink.” Yami chuckles as he moves into the kitchen.
A knocking comes from the front door, all the boy’s attention snaps over to the entrance way before Malik quickly grabs the bowl of candy with a smile and makes his way to the door, Yugi right on his heels. Ryou sits down next to Seto on the sofa as he watches his yami move over to a pile of DVDs sitting near the television before turning his attention back to the brunette.
“Where is Mokuba?”
“I told him he could trick or treat up and down your street.” Seto says.
“Well, don’t worry, the neighbors here are very nice.” Ryou reassures the brunette.
“Doesn’t matter, he’ll still worry.” Joey leans over to kiss his lover on the cheek.
“It’s my job.” Seto growls.
“They were so cute.” Yugi smiles as he comes back into the room only to be stopped by another knock.
“I’ll get it.” Malik turns back around.
“What was out there?” Ryou asks the small tri-colored haired boy.
“A little princess, a werewolf, and a ghost.”
“Awe, they sound so cute.”
“I can’t wait to dress up our little one.” Yugi rubs his slim belly.
“And it will be so cute, I’m sure.” A voice speaks from behind the smaller boy.
All look to the entranceway of the living room to see Jade standing next to Malik, her normally braided forest green hair done in high pigtails on her head. A white button up shirt covers her chest, the bottom unfastened half-way up and tied in a small knot high on her flat stomach, the sleeves rolled up to her elbows. A short blue and black plaid shirt rest low on her hips with a pair of white knee highs stockings on her slim legs, shiny black Mary Janes on her feet.
“Sexy lady.” Joey chuckles.
“I could almost say the same to you.” Jade winks as she move further into the room, sitting into the chair closest to the door, her eyes travel over the small group before stopping on Ryou. “I could defiantly say that about Ryou.”
“He does look like a girl, doesn’t he.” Malik says as he leans against the frame of the entranceway.
“And still not showing yet I see.” Jade motions to Ryou’s flat belly.
“Nope, but Malik and Joey are showing a little.”
“That’s great. Soon you’ll all be as big as houses.”
“I’ve been thinking about that.” Joey speaks up.
“Never a good thing.” Yugi smirks.
“Hush, I’m serious. What is going to happen when do really start showing? I mean, we all agreed that we should keep this a secret because of the press and all.”
“Good question.” Yami reenters the room, nodding his head with a smile toward the forest green haired girl.
“I suggest just start wearing larger clothes, especially when you’re around others.”
“But what about school? We have to were uniforms.” Ryou reminds her.
“Maybe you can switch around with each other to get a little bigger uniform. I know it sounds lame but walk with a book or your bag in front of you, be careful how you stand or walk so people won’t get suspicious.”
“I don’t think a book will be able to cover up a nine month belly.” Malik says.
“True. Perhaps after Christmas break you guys don’t go back to school?”
“But…but this is our finally year. We have to graduate on time.” Ryou pouts.
“Maybe you’re yamis can go in your place?”
“Yeah, I want to see that.” Malik chuckles.
“I want to continue to make good grades.” Ryou shakes his head slightly, his light brown eyes wide.
“There are two reasons that won’t work.” Yugi speaks up. “First, Yami would be the only one not to make an idiot of himself in school but he still couldn’t pass for me, neither could Bakura or Marik pass as Ryou and Malik. Second, Joey doesn’t have a yami to take his place.”
“That’s right.” Joey nods.
“Then…then I’m out of ideas.” Jade sighs.
“Home schooling.” Seto speaks up.
“What?”
“We can do home schooling for our last semester.”
“I don’t know if the school will allow that, though.” Ryou says.
“They will if Kaiba Corp makes a considerable donation.”
“You would pay them to let us do home schooling?” Joey asks, his head leaning on his lover’s shoulder, his hands playing with the clasp of Seto’s trench coat.
“I’ve heard some of the teachers complaining they need new computers or another hall. Perhaps I can pay for them.” Seto shrugs, turning his head to kiss the top of Joey’s sandy blonde hair.
“That’s so kind of you, Seto.” Yugi smiles sweetly at the brunette.
“Must be nice to have that much money, Ice Prince.” Jade smirks.
“But if we are staying home then you have to.” Joey looks up into deep blue eyes.
“I don’t have a problem with that.”
“You might when you have to deal with a pregnant Joey every day.” Jade chuckles.
“I’m sure I won’t be that bad.” Joey turns to stick his tongue out at the forest green haired girl.
“When is your next appointment with the doc?”
“Next week. Shouldn’t you know?” Malik asks.
“No, cause I’m going on vacation next week and I won’t be there.”
“But we want you there.” Yugi pouts.
“Yeah, you make it fun to be checked over by Dr. Morland.” Ryou agrees.
“I’m sorry, kiddies. But I need a break. I’ll see you as soon as I get back, okay?”
“Okay.” Malik hops over to lean on the back of Jade’s chair. “But you have to bring us something back from where ever you’re going.”
“Malik!” Yugi scolds.
“What? I want presents.”
“Don’t be rude. Just ignore him, Jade.” Ryou rolls his eyes at the pale blonde before looking over at his lover. “Kura, have you found a movie to watch yet? You’ve been over there for a while.”
“Huh? Oh, yeah. Lets watch the Boogeyman.” The white haired yami moves to the DVD player to load the movie.
“And if anyone gets hungry we have a large variety of appetizers made by Yugi and I in the dining room.” Ryou motions over his shoulder at the door.
“Wait…where is Marik?” Malik sighs as his eyes scan the room.
“Dining room.” Bakura says over his shoulder.
“Well, I guess it’s alright now that everyone is here.” The pale blonde shakes his head as he moves to the dining room door.
“Are you going to be able to stay for a while, Jade?” Ryou asks.
“Not for long, I’ve a got a party with some friends to go to but it doesn’t start for a while. I have been dying to watch this movie though.”
“Then stay.” Yugi moves to stand beside his lover, his arm wrapping around Yami’s waist.
“I will to watch this then I’ll go.” Jade smiles as he sits back in her chair, watching as Bakura moves to sit in the empty chair across from her. “Hey, Sparrow, go get me something to drink.”
“Get it yourself.” Bakura growls.
“Kura, be a good host. Go get her something to drink.” Ryou leans forward to swat his lover’s knee.
“She can get it herself, I’m not her servant.”
“Kura.” Ryou warns.
“Don’t make me get up and hit you.” Jade smirks at the white haired yami.
“I’d like to see you try.”
“I’ll go get you something, Jade.” Ryou starts to get up.
“No, B will get me something. You’re preggy, you don’t need to be doing anything but resting.” Jade waves for the small boy to remain sitting.
Jade’s bright blue eyes stare across the burning candles on the coffee table into Bakura’s narrowed dark brown ones. The two continue to just stare at each other for several minutes, the others in the room looking from one to the other, ignoring the previews flashing on the screen of the television.
“Fine.” Bakura growls, standing quickly and making his way to the swinging kitchen doors.
“Have I told you how much I enjoy your company, Jade?” Yami smiles over the top of his lover’s head.
