WIT - Part One
Nazo no Kisu (Mysterious Kiss)
Today, today is 19 day. Chapter 19 that is. I'd like to thank all those who are following the story and
reviewing it! You are so loved by me!! Today we start WIT!! It's going to be a 3-part tournament. You'll
get some details on Yugi's first duel with Varon, then the Semi-finals in Chapter 20, then the final
duel in Chapter 21. Don't forget about all the good stuff in betweeen!!
Chapter 19: WIT - Part One
Ahh!! It's 7:30! I'm at the Tokyo Dome, ready for my first duel at 8! I'm so excited. My parents have
closed the shop for the weekend because of WIT! I feel like a kid in the candy shop!
I really wish Atemu was here. I confirm with an official that I am here and I am Mutou Yugi. Yea, who
else besides Atemu has red, black, and blond hair? And no I didn't dye it this color. It's natural. Otou-san
says I get it from jii-chan, whose hair was blond and silver.
Well, anyways, I walk around, noticing other duelists because of the duel disks.
Oh yea, I almost forgot mine. We have to use them during the tournament, because the Tokyo Dome
doesn't have any dueling arenas.
I see Anzu walking directly towards me, looking with the most innocent face she can muster up. But
it's no use. You are being dummer than you look.
And to believe I was once in love with her.
"Yugi." she says standing before me.
"What could you possibly want with me?"
"I want to talk to Atemu."
Is she insaine. At this point, Atemu might kill her and Kaiba and Jou...
Hell, I'd kill them at this point. But I have better things to do with my life.
"I have something very important to talk to him about. I know you know how to get in contact with
him."
"You have nothing to say to Atemu."
"Can you just help me out this one time Yugi. I know you hate me..."
"Hate doesn't even begin to describe my feelings towards you, Anzu."
"So, is it going to be like that between us now Yugi?! Even though I didn't tell Kaiba and Jou to do that
to Atemu!"
"Do I look like an idiot?"
"No, you don't! I talked to Kaiba and Jou yesterday after you left."
"What do I care? Hell for all I know they may gag me, tie me up, and beat the hell out of me too."
"They did all that to him? I didn't want them to take it THAT far..."
You liar!
"Usotsuki!" (AN: Liar)
"I'm sorry Yugi..."
"No you're not! If you was sorry, then you wouldn't have told Kaiba and Jou to do it!"
"And they were idiots for doing as I say."
She had a point there. Kaiba and Jou are both one for not following orders to quickly. They would rather
give them out.
"But, I have some vital information for Atemu."
"Talk to me after my duel. Then again, don't ever talk to me again." I say walking away from her and
towards one of the platforms I had to duel on.
"The Alexandrian Rose!" I hear... I stop and turn around.
"What did you say?"
"Nothing you want to hear from me!"
I leave her, and go to the center of the dome and get my deck ready. I wonder how does she know about
the rose?
I can't worry about that now, I have a duel to win.
"Hello there." I hear someone with a strong accent say. I turn around. I guess this is my opponent.
"Hi. I'm Mutou Yugi." I say extending my hand.
"Varon Turner." he says shaking my hand rather hard. "I'm so glad to finally meet you! I know my deck
is no comparison to yours, but I will do my best in this duel."
"You will give me a run for it! Please, do your best, because I will give you 150% of my ability."
We take our places on the platform.
'Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to day one of Worldwide Invitiational Tournament!"
I look around and see hundreds, no thousands of people cheering.
"The format will be as follows, Round One, all 64 duelists will duel in pairs of 8. The top 8 and the bottom
8 will duel an on so forth until all 64 of the duelists have competed. In the 2nd round, only 32 duelists
will remain in order to move on to the Sweet 16 round. Of those 16, 3rd round duelists, only half will move
on to the Elite Eight round. In Round 4, will be the Final Four Round. The final round will be the finals of
the tournament! In our last WIT, 10 years ago, an American duelist, Dartz McKinnon won the title of King
of Duelists! Over the next 2 days, we will see who will be the next duelist to earn this coveted title of the
Duel Monsters world!"
The people cheer even louder as Dartz McKinnon walks onto the main platform.
"Welcome all to the Worldwide Invitational Tournament! To each and every duelist, I wish you much
luck in your duels. When I won, I was ranked number 48. So, to those who aren't at the top, don't feel
defeated already, just go out there and give it your best. I know that each and every one of you worked
hard to get here, and may the best duelist win!"
The crowd cheers even louder. It's becoming unbearable. I wish we could get on with the duels!
"Duelists, please ready your disks!"
Finally. I insert my deck into the holder and watch as the disk automatically readies itself. 4000 shows
up on my life point counter. What...we're not going by the 8000 system?
"Up until the Elite Eight round, tomorrow, duelists will battle using the 4000 Life Point system."
Great, now I just have to make it to the Elite Eight to battle with more comfort. This is going to be harder
than I thought. I made my deck for the 8000 system!
"Duel Start!" he yells, then quickly runs off to his VIP area.
The roar of the crowd literally deafens me...hey, there's 80,000+ here from around the world! How
would your ears feel?!
...
"Shorisha, Mutou Yugi!"
And I only had 50 life points left. Never had I ever seen a deck like his! Wow! Why wasn't he higher
ranked?!
I walk to him.
"That was an amazing duel Varon-kun. Wow, I thought I was a goner many times!"
He laughs.
"Yes, that was the best duel I ever had! You are indeed the master of the Magician Deck."
I wish Atemu could have heard that!
"With a deck like that, you will go on to win this tournament." he says. "Duel King."
Now I really wish Atemu could have heard that!
"I'll be cheering for you Yugi!" he says walking off.
As I leave the arena, I hear many other duelists win, including Kaiba and Jou, who are ranked 8 and 5
respectively.
I guess that makes me the number 1 duelist in the world. I wonder if Atemu is watching the duels? It
will be broadcasted worldwide. Of couse Egypt will show it because of Akefia who was the 1st duelist to
win his duel. He's ranked number 7 in the world.
I find my parents and sit with them.
"Omedetou Yugi!" mom says to me.
"You did great!" says dad.
"But that was too close for comfort. You may not survive the next round." jii-chan says to me.
Always got to be the negative bug...
"If you were dueling Atemu, he would have creamed you." jii-chan adds onto the already downgrading
situation.
"Thanks for reassuring my confidence jii-chan." I say laughing. "But I had no idea that the first 3 rounds
were going to be the 4000 LP system. The deck I used is for the 8000 LP system."
"And it showed. I bet Atemu is somewhere with less hair over that duel. Now I suggest you adjust your
deck for this LP system." jii-chan advises me.
I adjust my deck adding and subtracting cards. I decided to take out my Black Magician. It would surprise
my next opponent if he/she never saw my key card.
I sit and watch the duels until the 1st round is finished.
The 2nd round comes and I have to duel Otogi, 25th ranked. His deck is based on the game he invented,
Dungeon Dice Monsters. So I know how to counter almost every move he has. It's a hard duel, but not as
hard as my 1st round duel, and I win sorta easily. Easily compared to my duel against Varon.
I'm in the Sweet 16 round, only one more round to go until I can get to the Elite Eight and adjust my
deck to do some serious damage.
I find out that I'm dueling an American duelist, Keith Howard. He's ranked number 18. From what I remember
from last night's analyst, he uses a machine deck.
We do our greetings and duel. I win him easily...4 turns I think.
Is this really the best the world has to offer?

So, Anzu knows about the Alexandrian Rose. But what could she know to tell Atemu? Will Yugi ever be patient
enough to listen to her? Will Atemu listen to her? You know, those are some wonderful questions, but will
they be answered next chapter? Chapter 20 covers the Elite Eight and Final Four! So stay tuned!
