The fall of icarus

Notes: I named Yami Bakura Bakura Ryou Itemri .  Bakura’s last name
comes from the ancient Egyptian language.   “I” is the pronoun “I” .
“Te” is “You” (I think). “Mr” means love. So literally speaking, Bakura’s last
name means “I love you” in the ancient Egyptian language.  Pretty cool,
huh?

I think I only received one other review that made me this confused and

reviewers and all their praise and if you don’t like my story, fine. However, if
you attack my reviewers, that is another issue.  I won’t let anyone hurt

Sorry, Guys. I had to deal with that review first because I don’t like people
insulting my friends.  I don’t have many friends, but the few that I do
have, I am very protective of, and that includes all my happy reviewers!! 
My reviewers are good people who deserve decent recognition and the occasional
hug from Ryou.  Having said that…..

house.  Besides, Steven would be even more angry you you if he finds Ryou
gone from the room.  Bakura knows Ryou loves his dad and it’s also a form
of retaliation.  Bakura isn’t going to be scared away by Ryou’s dad. 
His theory is he should accept Ryou because he’s his son, not because of his
lifestyle.

I’m sorry if I missed a review response to you.  I make mistakes, even
though I don’t wanna.  Oh well.  Thanks for the reviews and for Ryou

Dragondreamer Yami Dragon: Ryou goes to the hospital, but he will be fine. I
promise.  He can’t be too bad, since I have a lemon in a couple chappies.

 
Warnings: NO LEMON, BUT THIS CHAPPIE IS A LITTLE ANGSTY, BUT GOOD. 
 
Father and Son Confrontation
 
Steven woke up the next morning and quickly unlocked Ryou’s bedroom
door.  Inside, Ryou was cuddled fast asleep against his yami’s chest. 
His arm was draped over Bakura’s chest.  Steven remembered Ryou as a
toddler holding his mother the same way when he slept.  At that time, they
looked like angels, devoted mother and loving son, both his pride and
joy.    Ryou breathed sharply against Bakura whose arm fell to
Ryou’s side as he slept to rub the offending injury.  Steven could see the
bruises Cinetti had made on his son and it made him almosemblemble if it weren’t
for the fact that Ryou and Bakura were once again in bed together.
            Steven
walked over to Bakura whose back moved with every calm inhalation of air. 
Steven touched Bakura’s soft hair and pulled it startling Ryou out of his sound
sleep.  Tears fell from Bakura’s eyes as a yelp escaped him and he fell
from the bed naked.  Steven wrapped his arm around Bakura’s neck. 
“Ryou!  Don’t tell me you did this again!”
“We didn’t dad!”Ryou leaned over to Bakura trying to free his hair.
“I thought by locking the door it would stop this mess!”
 Bakura struggled growling and snarling.  “You can’t keep up
apart!!  I’m staying with Ryou!”
Steven yanked Bakura out of the room.  Ryou stood to follow them, but
screamed when he got to his feet holding his side.  He used the phone in
the room to call Yami and Yugi.  He knew in his condition, he couldn’t
defend himself against his enraged father.
“Game Shop. Yugi Mutou speaking.”
Ryou coughed.  “Yugi….”
Yugi sounded concerned. “Ryou, are you hurt again?”
“Dad…Bakura..come over…”
“Yami! Hold on, Ryou!”  Ryou hung up the phone.  His heart stopped
when he heard thumping down the stairs.  Ryou struggled to put his pants
on.  Ryou walked out of the room to find the father and yami’s fight had
migrated downstairs.  Bakura staggered to his feet as Ryou ran to support
him. 
“You don’t seem so big now, spirit,” Steven sneered.  Steven’s lip was
bleeding indicating Bakura did get at least two good punches at Steven’s
face. 
Ryou stood before Steven. “How dare you hurt my yami!”
“You’re forgetting your place here, boy!  Get your little scrawny behind
over here!”
Steven reached out for Ryou and Ryou dodged him.  Ryou punched Steven in
the side where Cinetti hit him.  Father and Son both doubled over holding
their sides.  The father recovered and punched Ryou.  Bakura
interceded and grabbed Steven’s throat.  Steven grabbed the closest thing
and whacked Bakura’s head with the small lamp breaking it.  Bakura
staggered back falling on the floor.  Ryou jumped on his father’s back as
his father backed into the wall hard.  Ryou fell onto the ground with
Bakura.  Ryou held onto Bakura as a wave of nausea hit him. 
Steven turned to Ryou in fury and grabbed his arm tightly.  “You are
going to stay in my sight from now on!”
Ryou put his hand on his father to steady himself.  “I will not stop
loving Bakura, dad.  If I have to disobey you, so be it.”  Ryou
growled at his father holding his side.  “I will not leave my yami no
matter what you say, father.”
Steven slammed Ryou against the mantle knocking into the fishbowl. 
Bakura ran to Ryou’s side and grabbed Steven’s hand before it could slap his
son.  “Don’t you hurt your son!  You hurt him enough already.”
Steven stormed out of the house knocking down Yugi and Yami outside. 
Ryou fell to his knees and felt a drop of water fall on his head.  He
looked above him and the fishbowl was cracked to the point of leaking. 
Yugi ran to Ryou.  Bakura caught Ryou before he fell to the ground
unconscious. 
“Yami! Call the ambulance!”
Bakura joined Yami in the kitchen trying to get the fish another bowl to swim
in.  He
Gently tugged at the algae eater since it refused to leave the bowl. 
“Yami, let go of the bowl!”  Bakura said finally releasing the creature
from the glass.  Yami Yugi turned around less than amused.
“You named the algae eater after me?  Why don’t I get a snake and name
it after you?”
Ryou coughed from the other room.
“I could have named another animal after you, pharaoh, but they didn’t have
any dung beetles there.”
“Very funny, tomb robber!  Why don’t you say we go to the zoo and I’ll
buy you a jackass!  That animal suits you fine!”
“While we’re there, let’s pick up a monkey for you!”
Yugi yelled from the other room.  “Bakura! Yami! Hurry!”
“Look at you with nothing on! You are a monkey, and may I say they are the
gifted ones!”
“THAT’S IT!” Bakura grabbed Yami’s jacket and shoving him into the
wall.  “I ought to take that phone and shove it right up your ass, you
ass!” 
Yugi ran into the room and grabbed the phone calling the emergency
number.  Bakura dropped Yami and returned to Ryou.  Ryou was pale and
his face was covered in sweat.  His breathing became erratic and
rapid.  “Hold on, Ryou. Please hold on.”
Yami took pity on the tomb robber as much as he wouldn’t stand his
occasionally cocky attitude.  Bakura brushed Ryou’s hair back
lovingly. 
“Bakura, go get dressed. We’ll stay with Ryou,” Yugi suggested. 
Bakura ran upstairs and changed.  Bakura heard the ambulance horn blare
from down the block.  When he arrived downstairs, Ryou was on the stretcher
and pleaded with Ryou to improve.  “Come on, Ryou, stay with me. 
Please don’t leave me!”
Bakura demanded he go with them.  Yugi and Yami had to come
separately.
 
Inside the ambulance…….
            The medics
took Ryou’s vital signs and immediately examined the bruises.  “who or what
caused these?”
“His father punched him and this creep Thomas Cinetti punched him.”
“Father?  Has this happened before?”
“His father slapped him yesterday and he solicited a whore for his son’s
birthday.  She sexually assaulted him.”
“When did all this occur?”
“Yesterday was his birthday.  That’s when it all happened.”
“How old his he?”
“He’s seventeen now.”
The medics looked sympathetically at the boy on the stretcher.
“What’s his name?”
“Ryou Thomas Bakura.”
“Yours?”
“Bakura Ryou Itemri.”
The medics wrote all of this information on a chart as they examined
Ryou.  “What is your relationship to the patient?”
“Umm…significant other.”
The medics exchanged nervous glances.  For a minute they looked like
deer in the headlights.  “Sig-Significant other?”
“I don’t want him to die, just do your jobs!”
The medics changed gloves and put masks on.
“What’s all that for?”
“He is a high-risk patient.”
They shifted their eyes taking notice of how interesting the bottom of the
van was becoming.  “We don’t want to—we’re protecting ourselves.”
“I don’t care if you wear hula ts ats and dance with each other, just keep
Ryou alive!”
The medics radioed the hospital saying that they had a  “17 year old
male in need of emergency surgery” and was considered an “at risk” patient.
“Do you have unprotected sex?”  Bakura gave him an angry look.
“Look,  we have to know how to treat him and if he poses a risk to the
hospital staff.  If you don’t answer our questions, we won’t be able to
help him.”
“No, I’m always protected.  I keep a pen knife by the side of the
bed.  I learned to be careful when sleeping with someone.”
“No, condoms. Use them?”  Bakura shrugged.  The medics hands were
obviously trembling now.”
“Was he ever tested?”
Bakura shrugged again.  What was with the questions?  Next he was
going to ask him why the sky was blue!
“In school he had tests done, but I don’t know what he takes in school.”
“Have you ever had multiple partners?”
Bakura thought back to his time in ancient Egypt when a golden skinned boy
caught his eye.  His physique was masculine and very erotic.  The aura
around this boy was very seductive and attractive.  He still remembered
floating on a boat down the river Nile with him…in a time long ago.
“Marik Ishtar, but that was a long long time ago.”
“How long?”
“Long before I met Ryou.”  Bakura took Ryou’s hand as the monitor
beeped.
“His blood pressure is dropping fast!”
Bakura prayed to any god in heaven or in hell to help Ryou.
            They
wheeled Ryou to the emergency room.  Bakura waited an hour before he could
go into the waiting room.  The doctors cleaned his cuts.  Yugi ran in
with Grandpa and Yami.  Joey, Tristan, and Seto strolled in calmly trying
to hide their own sense of panic.  They knew Bakura needed their support
and their strength.  A lady in a dress suit walked into the ward. 
Bakura could feel every touch of the doctors and held his side trying to talk to
Ryou through their mindlink, but it was quiet.  As the minutes ticked away,
Bakura feared Ryou’s life ticking away with every passing moment.  Every
tick of the clock was one less second he had with Ryou…and it hurt.  He
didn’t regret telling the medics who abused his lover.  It was the only way
to protect Ryou.
Joey walked up to Bakura and put his hand on the yami’s shoulder.  “My
old man used to hit me, too, Bakura.  At least Ryou has you.  Serenity
lived with her mom, so I didn’t have anyone.”
The lady in the dress suit came out to the waiting room with another
doctor.  “Bakura Itemri?”
Bakura ran to the doctor.  “How is Ryou?  Please tell me he is
going to be alright!”
“He is a difficult case and we have to keep him here for observation. 
He has a moderate case of Hemoptysis which is why he is coughing up some
blood.  He has a fever and his breathing is very fast.  We do have him
stabilized, but we want him to stay here.  We have to make sure his lungs
won’t bleed anymore.”
“What caused that?”
“He has evidence of blunt forced trauma to the chest and abdomen which caused
some internal bleeding and-.” 
Bakura looked at her teary eyes.  “So, he will live?”
“It looks that way.  His system is very weak, so we have him on feeding
tubes now.”
Bakura hugged the doctor sobbing.  “Thank you, doctor!”
“I’ll let you know when you can see him.”
The lady in the suit sat beside Bakura as Yugi rubbed Bakura’s back
smiling.  The others in the room cheered.  “I’m here to talk about
Ryou’s injuries.”
“His father and our neighbor Thomas Cinetti beat him up!  He slapped his
own son!”  Bakura lifted his shirt to show the bruises from falling down
the steps and the scar on his forehead from the fight. 
“Ryou is a minor, correct?”
“Yes. I am his-.”
“We know who you are.  I was told.  As a minor, this is going to be
handled like a child abuse case.  We will have to take his father into
custody.  In the meantime, how old are you?”
Bakura laughed thinking of how the real answer would shock her.  “I’m
20. I can take care of him.”
“I can arrange for alternative housing.”
“No. We are fine with each other.”
Bakura signed a form and the lady left.  The yami sighed in
relief.  Ryou was going to be OK.  Only Bakura was able to go in
first.  The machines around Ryou beeped and hummed with the pulse of his
steady heartbeat.  Bakura pulled a chair over to him and took Ryou’s
hand.  Ryou opened his eyes slowly when he saw his yami looking back at
him.  Ryou smiled at him and raised his hand slowly to pet Bakura’s
cheek.  “Ryou, that is the second time you scared me in these past two
days.”
“The doctors say I’ll be fine, yami,” Ryou yawned.  “I finally stood up
to my father, but I don’t know if I made things worse.”
“This isn’t your fault, Ryou.  I just want you to relax and sleep.”
Ryou brushed back some hair hiding Bakura’s tears.  “Don’t cry, my
love.  I can’t see you smile if you cry.”
Bakura struggled to smile.  “There, yami, that’s better.  I want
you to eat and go home and get some sleep.”
“I won’t leave you, Ryou.  I’m staying right here beside you.”
Ryou tugged on Bakura’s shirt and pulled him closer.  Ryou pulled Bakura
down for a gentle kiss.  Bakura’s tears fell on Ryou’s face.  Bakura
pulled away reluctantly taking his hand.  Ryou blinked, smiled, and fell
asleep, the heart monitor still beeping with the pulse of the boy.  A quiet
wailing echoed through the ICU spreading its tearful message with a painful
cry.

Next Chappie: Ryou gets sent home and Steven gets arrested.  Next
chappie will be happy because Steven gets arrested with Cinetti!!!
