The Nightmare!

Welcome to ter ter 20. What's up with Malik? He's been 'lost' ever since
Marik came up missing. I hope he feels better when he recieves a phone call.
Thanks to all who have been reading and reviewing. Now it's time for Chapter
20 and a feature POV of Malik.
And just in case you get a little confused:

"'Yami'"

Chapter 20: The Phone Call

(Shadow Realm) *Marik's POV*

Damn. How could they have succeeded in getting all 3 of us?! I wish Yami
would wake up soon. Kura and I really do need him.

'Marik? Did you get all of it?' Kura asks me.

''Yes, I did. I did understand all the ritual. Hopefully I got it down packed.''

'You better!'

I could hear grumbles and moans. I looked towards the Puzzle and see Yami
waking up.

"'Where am I?'" He asks groggily.

'Shadow Realm.' Kura replies.

"'Where's my aibou?'"

''He probably doesn't even remember you right now.''

"'Let me out of here!!'"

'Don't even try using your powers. We've been sterilized and trapped inside
of our Items.'

''Without the presence of our hikari, we're nothing but wandering spirits.''

"'Who did this to us?'"

"Ha! We did!" Anzu says. Dream Clown stands next to her.

"'You...bitch! I thought we banished you to the Shadow Realm!'''

"Dumb ass, you are in the Shadow Realm. And once I erase Yugi's memory,
then I can get what I want. To return to the living world and to keep you
banned here, forever."

"'Who is that? It looks like...a duel monster?!'"

"Pharoah, you're so full of question today! I am known as Dream Clown. I was
banished here by you over 5000 years ago. Each day I live is for your death.
To see your downfall!"

'They forced us to take our Items. When they did so, they erased all known
memories of us from our hikari.'

"'So that was why Malik didn't have the Pharoah's Memory on his back and the
reason they didn't remember who you were.'"

"Yes, you're so right Pharoah. But as for now, we have a little mind erasing
to do to little Yugi and we shall return, don't worry." Dream Clown says
walking away fus. us.

''Yami? We have devised a plan to help get us out of here.'' I tell him.

"'What is it Marik?'"

'Marik has perfected the ritual that was used to control our minds and to
get into our hikari's mind. With this, we will warn someone of what's been
going on and hopefully someone can help rescue us.'

"'Who are you going to use?'"

''My sister.''

I hope this works...

(Malik and Marik's Home) *Malik's POV*

I really want to know who my other self is. I've heard a lot from Yugi and
Yami about him. He seems like he's a very cool person. But what still baffles
me is that they said that we are lovers. How can I be in love with myself? I
mean isn't that all my yami is? Another version of myself?

-Ring-Ring-Ring-

I stand up from my chair and walk to the phone and pick it up.

"Moshi moshi, Malik speaking."

"Little brother? Is that you?"

"Yea. How are you Ishizu? It's been a while since I last talked to you."

"Little brother. You must...warn the others of the dream manipulators. They
want to kill the yamis and to...they've taken the yami hostage along with
your Sen'nin Items. You must believe me."

"Are you ok big sister?"

"I am perfectly fine...but you need to listen and believe me. I need you to
warn everyone of when they sleep to beware of the dream manipulation
spells. This includes you..." Her voice changes. "...my hikari."

I recognize that voice? But whose it is? I se my my mind, desperately
trying to match the voice with the face, but it's no use.

"Malik, it doesn't matter if you remember me or not, I will always love you
just the same."

The phone hangs up. I'm so surprised at this! I mean how could my sister
know about any of this and she's in Cairo. (AN: That's in Egypt for you
non-geographical readers.) I haven't told her, but hell I don't even
know anything. Should I listen to my sister? Of course! I know that she
wouldn't say or do anything to put my life in jeopardy.

I dial Ryou's. Apparently he must be sleeping...

"Hello? Helloooo?" He says in between yawns and stretches.

"Ryou? Are you up?"

"I wasn't until the phone rung earlier. And now you call. Is there something
wrong?"

"How long ago did your phone ring? Did you talk to the person on the
other end?!"

"Impatient tonight aren't we."

Damn, who could this be?

"Hold on a sec Ryou. Don't go to sleep."

I click over to the other person.

"Hello? Who is this?"

"Malik...He's gone!"

"Yugi? Is this you?! Are you alright?!"

"Yami. He's gone. He left with the Puzzle! I don't know what to do."

"Calm down Yugi. Hold on a second, I got Ryou on the other side."

I clicked over.

"Ryou? Let me call you right back."

"What's wrong Malik?"

"Yami is gone with Yugi's Puzzle!"

"I'll be over there as soon as I can."

"Ok I'll meet you there."

"Ja."

I clicked over and listened to Yugi cry for a minute before I said anything.

"Yugi?"

"Yea...?"

"Stay right there. Ryou and I are on our way over."

"Ok. Please hurry."

"We will."

I hang up the phone and put some shoes and a jacket on and then rush over to
Yugi's. Ryou and I got there about the same time. I twisted the knob and the
door opened. We run upstairs to Yugi's room.

"Yugi? Are you ok?" Ryou asks looking around the room for Yugi.

"Here he is!" I say standing above him.

He was sleeping...I suddenly remember what Ishizu told me...

"Ryou! We must wake him up!" I say leaning down and shaking him.

"Wait...the non-sleep thing. I got a phone call from Ishizu. She warned me to
not let Yugi sleep!" Ryou said.

"Uggghhh...Why are you shaking me?" Yugi says groggily.

"Yugi, you must not sleep! You are in danger!" I say to him.

"I'm I'm soo sleepy." He says, yawning.

"No! Ishizu warned us to not let you sleep! If you do then your memories of
Yami will be erased, just like Malik and I."

"Yami...I don't want to forget...but I'm so sleepy."

"Ryou, go and get some cold water and ice quickly!" I say to him.

I could hear Ryou's foot steps leave the bedroom and down the stairs. I
picked up Yugi and stood him up.

"Come on Yugi, you must not go to sleep! You are our last hope for ever
remembering our other selves!

"Malik. Let me sleep. I'm so sleepy. I can't keep my eyes open."

"Do you want to forget Yami?"

"No..."

"Well, then, just stay up! Just for a little while until we can figure out
what happened to everyone!"

"I'm back." Ryou says with a bucket of ice water. "We can put it in the tub."

"Good idea." I say picking Yugi up and running to the bathroom.

Ryou pours the ice water into the tub. It fills a quarter of the way. He turns
on the cold water.

"Yugi, you are going to hate us for this, but it's for your own good." I say
placing him into the tub."

"EEEEEEEEEEEYAHHHHHHHHH!!" Yugi yells jumping out the tub.

"Are you awoke now?" Ryou asks turning the faucet off.

"That was cold! Why did you have to do that?" Yugi says panting.

"Now, are you ready to find Yami? We've been warned by Ishizu to not let
you go to sleep until our memories are returned." I say to him.

"Ishizu?! What does she have to do with this?" Yugi asks, now wrapped in a
thick towel.

"Malik and I recieved phone calls earlier warning us to not let you sleep.
Apparently, you must be a key component to someone's plan." Ryou explains
to the best of his ability.

"But whose plan? What have they planned?" Yugi asks.

Silence is heard for a minute until Ryou speaks up.

"I guess they have targeted us when we're most vulnerable to steal our
yami and to erase memories of them ever existing."

"I came across this picture earlier today you guys." I say remembering the
pictun myn my coat pocket.

"That's it." Yugi says looking at it.

"What is?" I ask.

"The Pharoah's Memory that was carved onto your back at the age of 10. Your
father did it to you. Here are the 3 Kami Cards, and the Puzzle. These
heiroglyphs are the secret to the memory."

I try to recall the images, but it's no use. I don't have any memory of this
ever being on my back. I know that my mother died shortly after giving birth
to me and my father died when I was 11. Ishizu and Odion became my
'parents.' That's all I can really remember from my childhood.

"Hmm, I wonder if we are the only ones to have these things happen to us? I
haven't heard from Jou and Kaiba or Honda and Otogi in about 3 days, when
all this started to happen."

Da.da.daaa *cues dramatic music* I'm glad the phone call happened! The hikari
are on the right track now! I wonder how long will it take for them to figure
everything out? And how much longer can Yugi stay awake? Thanks to all who
