Lily Kyoto sat quietly on a paenchench and reviewed the score to the play she would be performing in. Opening day was only three days away and she felt completely unprepared. There was no way she would be able to pull this off without looking like an amateur. In her minds eye she could see the crowd, their faces contorted in malicious laughter as she stumbled over her words and forgot her lines. She chewed on one end of her long black hair in a nervous habit that she had picked up as a child, worry etched on her pretty face.
Unaware that only a few feety thy the Dark Harbinger of Vengeance sat watching and planning. Soon the lovely Miss Kyoto would have no more worries. Soon she would be brought to act in a play of a different kind, one that took its toll in pain and blood.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Lisa parked the squad car, or the Crap Mobile as she so lovingly called it, in front of the Domino City Waterfront, smack in the middle of a no parking zone.
“Bennetti, why do you insist on doing that? I’m starting to think you get off on it.” Joey quipped.
Lisa waggled her tongue at him suggestively. “Oh yeah baby, makes me all hot and wet.”
With a giggle she got out of the car and slammed the door shut. They headed down the wooden boardwalk to the large metal gate that marked the entryway to the dockyards. All around them the dock was buzzing with activity, ships getting loaded with cargo by huge crane that towered above them, fish being thrown from the decks of the fishing trawlers into huge ice packed containers that reminded Joey of Styrofoam beer coolers.
“Where are we meeting this joker exactly?” He asked Lisa, having to almost yell over the symphony of voices and clang of machinery.
“Pier 3, he said he’s a guide for a tour boat and would speak to us in between charters. It’s just a few minutes walk. Unless it’s too much for an old guy like you. Shit, Wheeler, maybe we ought to get you a scooter or something. Wouldn’t want you to have a heart attack.”
Joey rolled his eyes heavenward in a silent plea for strength and gave her a quick cuff to the back of her head. “Wise ass, I ought to bust you down to rookie. Let you ticket the cops with over inflated opinions of themselves who park in no parking zones.”
Luckily, as Lisa pointed out it was only a few minutes walk to the commercial area of the Pier. They stopped in front of a sign promising the best tours in the city and looked around for their witness.
Beside him, he heard Lisa drawn in a breath in womanly appreciation at the man who climbed off the small tour boat and headed towards them. He stood about 6’4 with skin tanned bronze from the sun, stretched taught over well developed muscles that rippled when he moved. His black hair was long and spiky and fell in an almost jaunty manner over his eyes that sparkled with natural warmth, a big smile almost engulfed his whole face. His shorts road low on his hips, and stopped just above his calves, and he wore little else, hhesthest bare and smooth, Joey could hear Lisa moan unconsciously as he approached them.
“Welcome friends! Your boat awaits, and I promise you will find no better adventure in the city. This afternoon you will find yourself in most capable hands as I show you the wonders and beauty of the Ocean.” Joey narrowed his eyes thoughtfully, there was something both unsettling and familiar about this guy, but he just couldn’t put his finger on it.
“As much as we would appreciate a little time away, I’m afraid we’re here on business. I’m Detective Benetti and this is my partner Detective Wheeler. I believe witnessed Amana Lee’s abduction Saturday night.” She prodded, but it seemed the man wasn’t listening as he started intently at Joey.
“Actually, it is my partner you want to talk to, he’ll be up in a minute. Did you say Wheeler?” He stepped closer to Joey as if to say something, but was cut short by the approach of another man coming up from the boat’s interior.
“Hey Mako, is that the police up there?”
Joey turned toward the voice, a voice he would recognize until the day he died. There standing on the deck was Tristan Taylor. No longer the gangly teenager, Tris had matured into a tall handsome man with piercing brown eyes and a muscular physic. He started back at Joey, frozen to his spot at the shock of seeing his old friend.
“Tris?” Joey managed to finally get out. “Is that you, man?” Tristan gave his head a slight shake as if he could not believe what he was seeing. He took a hesitant step forward as if he was unsure of what his reaction should be.
“Gods Joey, I don’t believe this.” He managed to pull himself together and ran down the plank, until he stood only a few inches away from him. “I can’t believe it, it’s been almost twenty years.”
Joey turned and looked Mako who stood next to Lisa with his arms crossed in front of him, a goofy smile on his face. “Oh God, don’t tell me that’s the Freaky Fish Guy!”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Joey sat on a fold out chair on the deck of the boat as Tristan filled him in on the last twenty years or so. After a long battle with booze and a gambling addiction that left him pretty much broke, sick, and running for his life, Mako found him living on the streets.
“Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy bringing him back into life.” Mako informed them, while giving Tristan a look that spoke volumes. “He has to be the most pig headed, stubborn man I have ever met! There were a couple of times I was sure I was going to have to throw him to the sharks.”
Tristan made a face at him and turned back to Joey.
“Okay, I’ll concede I can be hard to get along with at times, and I got to admit, if it wasn’t for him I would probably be dead right now. Mako turned out to be a pretty good friend. I have no idea how I’m ever going to pay back all he’s done for me. But enough with the melodrama, what about you Joey, are you and Mai still together? I can’t believe you’re a cop, Gods, a homicide dick no less!”
Joey smiled sadly. “Yeah pretty good for the guy everyone thought was an airhead. Mai and I got married, had a beautiful baby girl, who is now a grown woman thank you very much. But things kinda fell apart over the years, we divorced a few years back and she got remarried. Not much to tell really.”
Tristan leaned forward in his chair towards and put his hand over Joey’s sympathetically.
“Look, I’m really sorry to hear that. I know I acted like a really jerk to you about her, but I never would have wished anything bad between you two.”
Joey looked up at Tristan, his eyes mirroring the sadness that he felt every day of his life. “I know Tris, I always wished I could take back that night, I was such an ass. You poured your heart out to me and I just stood there stupidly and didn’t say a thing. I let you leave and look what happened.”
“Stop it.” Mako shouted, causing them all to jump a bit. “This is all past, you were both kids then. You can’t go on beating your selves up over things you can’t change. I know that more than anyone.” He replied in reference to the still ongoing search for his father. “Why don’t you just tell them about what you saw the other night?”
Tristan’s expression changed quickly to one of thoughtfulness and he sat back in his chair.
“At the time I really didn’t think anything of it. I recognized her picture when you showed it on the television later in the week. It was around three in the morning; I couldn’t sleep and thought I would go for a walk. She must have been out dancing at the clubs because she looked a little unsteady, as if she had been drinking. Someone got out of a car and started talking to her. I thought she knew them because she didn’t seemed too frightened. Whoever it was wore a long dark coat, like a duster, with the collar flipped up, and a wide brimmed hat worn down low, so you couldn’t see their eyes. They talked for a few minutes, and then she got into the car with them and drove off.”
Lisa leaned forward, her recorder on the table in clear sight. She had learned long ago not to depend on memory and notes, but rather on the accuracy of technology.
“Tristan, you said you saw the car clearly. Could you describe it?”
He nodded. “Sure, it was Honda, an Accord I think. An older model. It was a light colour, under the streetlights it was a little yellow tinged but I am sure it was white, and had some rust under the wheel wells and the passenger side mirror was missing. I couldn’t see the license plate, but it had something hanging from the rearview mirror, like little shoes, I couldn’t quite make them out , I was too far away.
“Could you hear anything they said?’ she asked, but Tristan shook his head no.
“Like I said they were too far away, all I could hear were muffled voices.”
“Well, it’s a start. If you think of anything Tristan I want you to call me.” Joey handed Tristan his card and got up to leave.
“Wait, there’s more. I don’t think it’s related to this case, but I think you really need to see this.” He went over to the counter top and pulled something out of one of the drawers beneath it. “I found this waiting for me this morning, someone had slipped it under the door. “ He walked over to Joey and held the item up so that he could see it.
In Tristan’s hand was another Duel Monsters Card, Curse of Dragon.
“Oh Shit” Joey muttered
~*~*~*~*~*
Tristan leaned back against the driftwood and sunk his toes into the sand, the waves occasionally rolling over his feet and bathing him in warm salt water. Above him the summer sun was just starting to make it’s decent into dusk, his favourite time of the day. With a contented sigh he interlaced his fingers behind his head and watched Mako walk up from the waters edge and kneel beside him.
“Pretty weird today wasn’t it.” Mako commented with his usual grin.
Tristan smiled slowly as a cool breeze caressed his skin, making him shiver just a bit.
“Yeah, it’s like you finally get something out of your mind and then bam, it comes back to haunt you again.”
Mako’s smile seemed to slip just a bit and he looked down at the sand, almost unable bear Tristan’s gaze. “So,” Mako struggled with himself to find the words he desperately wanted to ask. “Do you still have feelings for Joey?”
Tristan drew in a breath and thought about it a moment. “You know Mako, I thought for the longest time that if I ever ran into Joey again I would feel the same pain and hurt that I did twenty or so years ago. But it’s like Joey is a whole different guy, well, man now, he isn’t the kid that I remember, there’s a hardness about him that wasn’t there before. He’s not the Joey I remember.”
Mako looked up with a childlike grin. “So you won’t be trying to start anything with him right?”
Tristan laughed at the absurdity of the question. “And just what is that supposed to mean? Do I look that desperate to you?”
The smile on Mako’s face disappeared and for a moment he was completely serious. “No, I don’t mean that, I guess I mean….HellHell.”
To Tristan’s shock Mako leaned in and kissed him hard, all the feelings he had for him released. Tristan could taste the salt from the ocean spray as Mako’s tongue coaxed open his lips. Mako slid one hand behind Tristan’s head and pulled him in closer, his kiss growing harder, both tender and savage at the same time, as if he could not get enough. Tristan felt a heat growing inside him that spread from the pit of his stomach and reaching down to his groin as Mako invaded his mouth. With a moan he pushed Mako away so that he could look at him.
“Gods! Mako, what the hell was that!?”
Mako’s face crumpled and he started to get up, but not before Tristan grabbed his arm and pulled him back down.
“Shit, Tris I’m sorry, but I just thought that since you might be over Joey that maybe you might feel the way I do, and …..oh man, I have made such a mess of things!” He exclaimed.
Tristan cupped his chin and forced him to look up at him.
“No, Mako, it’s not that, I just want to know why you waited so long. You have been my best friend for years, but I never knew you felt that way about me. Geeze man, I’ve watched you date an army of women, how was I supposed to know.” He asked, watching the range of emotions play out on Mako’s face. He was never able to hide his feelings and today was no exception.
“Tris, I’ve wanted you for years, but after you told me about what happened with Joey I was afraid to hurt you, and you never made any indication that you wanted me like that and it’s not like I don’t like women but, I guess I just, I mean we just, I mean…” He stumbled over himself, words failing to describe the emotions that he was trying to express.
Tristan let go of his chin and ran his thumb over Mako’s lips. “Never mind. I think we have some lost time to make up for.”
He looked into Mako’s eyes, which were awash with emotion, as grey and tumultuous as the ocean itself. He pushed Mako down into the warm sand and lay beside him, leaning over and kissing him hard with passion, their teeth grazing as Tristan’s tounge plundered the sweetness within.
Pushing himself up with his right elbow he allowed his free hand to make a lazy journey down Mako’s bronzed body, across his well define stomach muscles to settle just above the waist band of his shorts. When he broke their kiss, Mako was alreadyrtinrting to breathe faster in anticipation as Tristan began to follow the path of his hand with his mouth, placing a trail of hot kisses along his skin, slowing only to nip at first the right nipple, and then the left, teasing the sensitive buds with his teeth until they were erect. With a grin he continued his path down to where his hand was and loosened the rope that tied Mako’s shorts with his teeth.
“Oh Gods, Tristan! I don’t know if I can take this!” Mako moaned.
With a chuckle Tristan quickly undid the belt and pulled the shorts down, Mako’s rock hard erection springing free of it confinement. Tristan grabbed the shaft loosely in one hand and bent down to lick the bead of moisture that had formed on the tip of his arousal, causing Mako to shudder and groan at the sensation. Cupping Mako’s balls in his other hand, he gently squeezed them as he took his lover’s member fully into his mouth and began to suck on its length, his tongue making butterfly licks on the head. Mako thrashed and caught Tristan’s hair in his hands.
“Please, Tristan, I don’t know how long I can last.” Mako pleaded with him as Tristan continued his sweet torture.
More firmly this time he put his hand around the base of Mako’s cock and moved it in the opposite direction of his mouth, his motions this time faster, drawing him in and out, taking the length of the velvet shaft deep into his throat.
Mako bucked, his back arching as he finally exploded in a rush of dizzying pleasure into Tristan’s mouth.
Tristan raised himself up and looked down at Mako, his chest rising and falling as he panted with his eyes closed, trying to regain control of his breathing.
“You going to live?” He teased as he leaned down and playfully licked one of Mako’s nipples.
“No.” Mako declared weakly. “Just leave me here, I’m wreckage.” He waved one arm above him as if he did not have the strength to hold there long, trying to emphasise his point. “Give me a minute and I will show you what it feels like.”
Tristan laughed and fell down into the sand beside him.
“Don’t worry, we got all night.” He smiled wickedly “I just hope this beach is deserted.”
Mako pulled himself up on his elbow. “Tris, there’s something I think I should tell you.” He seemed uncomfortable, a flush of colour spreading across his face.
“You’ve never been with a man before?” Tristan supplied, causing the blush on Mako’s face to darken even further.
“Yeah. I got to be honest, I’m a little nervous.”
Tristan sat up and turned towards him, placing his hand on Mako’s cheek in a gesture of tenderness, his expression one of understanding. “It’s okay. I’d never hurt you. I think it would be best if you made love to me.”
Mako started to protest but Tristan quieted him with a finger across his lips. “You saved my life Mako, let me do this for you.” He took a quick survey of the area around them and groaned. “Crap, I forgot my stuff!”
Mako smiled and grabbed a bottle out of his knapsack which lay on the ground nearby. “I got this!” He declared happily, waving the bottle around in triumph.
Tristan started at him incredulously and started to laugh. “I said I wanted to have sex not catch a tan! God’s I’d smell like a coconut for the next week.”
Mako grinned sheepishly and put the sun tan lotion back in the bag.
“Hold on, I have something on the boat.” Tristan ran over to where the boat was moored and boarded it, disappearing momentary to the cabin below. He returned to where Mako was sitting a few minutes later.
“Here.” He said handing him a small innocuous looking bottle. “Use this.”
Mako pushed Tristan back into the beach and straddled his waist with a growl. He lowered his head and took full possession of Tristan’s mouth, nipping at his bottom lip and using his tongue to thrust in and out of Tristan’s mouth.
Mako grabbed a handful of Tristan’s hair and yanked his head back roughly, sucking on his left earlobe. Tristan moaned at the sensation, his erection now rock hard and throbbing for attention. The trail of hot kisses now moving down his neck and onto his chest as the other explored the contours of his body was driving him insane. Mako paused to subject him to the treatment that Tristan had treated him to earlier; sucking and nipping at his nipples until they grew taught and ached.
“That’s it, baby.” Tristan moaned in appreciation.
Mako licked Tristan’s stomach and navel, reaching the point where his shorts rested just above his hips, a smattering of black hair showing above their waist band. Slowly he undid the buttons, sliding them down, his hands exploring as he removed the offending clothing.
Mako’s used his tongue to work his way back up Tristan’s thighs, until he reached the juncture between his legs. Gently he licked and nuzzled, taking Tristan’s balls in his mouth and sucked on them while Tristan groaned and shuddered. He replaced his mouth with his hand, while he took Tristan’s arousal into his mouth and drew it in deeply, his motions slow and precise as he moved up and down along the soft flesh. He paused once or twice to lick up the base and encircle the head of his erection. Tristan moved his hips trying to push himself deeper into the moist heat that surrounded him.
”Oh, God Mako, keep that up and I’m not going to last!” He moaned in a shaky voice, his breath ragged.
Mako slipped one finger in Tristan causing his to jump, barely able to hold onto his control.
“Now, please, do it now!” He demanded, eager to feel his lover moving deep inside him.
Mako grabbed the bottle and used the contents to ready Tristan, while using one hand to continue to work masterfully at his throbbing erection. He slipped one finger inside him, and then another, stretching the muscles to accommodate him.
Tristan moaned. His body felt like it was on fire.
Finally after what seemed to be an eternity Mako positioned himself between Tristan’s legs and gently thrust inside him. Tristan cried out at the exquisite pleasure and pain caused by the intrusion and tried to relax his tense muscles, when he realized that Mako wasn’t moving.
He started down at Tristan with an expression of horror, his eye wide.
“Oh, Gods! I’ve hurt you haven’t I!’ He exclaimed with panic and started to withdraw.
With what could almost be described as a growl Tristan grabbed Mako and held him fast, so that he could not move.
“Mako, shut up and fuck me!!” He yelled, desperate to continue, desire making his voice deep and commanding.
Hesitantly at first, Mako continued, the pace growing faster and more confident as the pleasure began to build. Tristan writhed beneath him, matching the rhythm that Mako had set. Encouraged, Mako began to move faster, his thrusts going harder and deeper into his lover, until he was panting and moaning Tristan’s name.
Tristan groaned at the feeling of intense pain laced pleasure that engulfed him as he felt Mako moving within him, his muscles tensing, preparing for his release. He cried out as he reached his climax, all his muscles tensing as he let go. Mako, seeing the rapture on Tristan’s face could no longer hang on to the shred of control that he had and exploded in one last thrust, the world around him seeming tagmeagment apart as he gave into the power of the orgasm that rocked him to his very being.
He fell on top of Tristan in a sweaty heap and buried his face in his lover’s neck, struggling to breathe. They lay that way for a moment, a tangle of arms and legs until they were able to regain their senses.
“Come on.” Tristan said playfully, shoving Mako off him. “Let’s go for a swim. I’ve got sand in the weirdest places!!”
