Satinflower

Please review to tell me how I’m doing, it makes it so I know people do read it.

Every chapter will have a name of a plant (usually a flower) for it, and associated meaning.

This is where I get my information: http://www.vietfun.com/flowers/

Why? Flowers held a lot more significant meaning in the older eras; if you give a lady the wrong color of rose, you will be likely to lose the ladylove.

Why this fic? I thought the game was fun, even though the storyline was very unconventional, and after a discussion with Nemi over another fic (a YYH/YGO x-over), I started to think of this.

Also: Sub Rosa, latin, literally “Under rose”, it is used as an expression for secrecy (represented by a generic white rose), often specifically in “What is spoken in here s not not leave the room” manner.

Using Dubbed names only because I’m more familiar to them.

Chapter 1

Satinflower- Fascination, Mystery

Or

“Is it Déjà vu?”

Joey yawned, listening to the curator drone on and on and on about the Cro-Magnon diet, wondering why the hell did Tea insist on them going on the tour of the Museum, he looked over to his diminutive friend, and found that Yugi had fallen asleep on his feet. It was soooo tempting, he shouldn’t do it, and he could get the wrath of the other Yugi on him, but what the hell? Certainly it would much more exciting then this!

POKE!

“Eek!” The little sound somehow drowned out the babble of the old curator, as Yugi’s eyes became plate-sized amethysts as he toppled over, twitching slightly from the shock.

All eyes are upon the master duelist as he slowly pulled himself up on his feet, giving his friend a very Yami-like glare of death.

“Will you grow up?” Tea muttered under her breath as the rest of the tourist group left her, Joey, Yugi, and Tristain behind.

“What was that for?!” Yugi exclaimed, trying to calm down his nettled other half.

“Temptation was too great to pass up.” Joey smiled sheepishly, getting glares from all sides. “I was bored, okay?!”

“Keep your finger to yourself.” Yugi sighed, though he could understand his friend, to a point. “Let’s find something more interesting to do okay?” He asked, his lavender eyes pleading for the more serious Tea to give in to the request.

“All right guys…” She sighed as she followed the two lanky teens and her diminutive ex-boyfriend (they broke up after they both realized it wasn’t meant to be) into another corridor.

“Oh wow… I wonder if Kaiba gotten some of this ideals from this.” The light half gaped. His eyes glittering at the rows of polished armors, of sharp and deadly blades of all manners from the simple unfurnished Gladius of a Roman Legionnaire, to understated elegance of the long and flexible Katanas of the Samurai and Shoguns, to the pearl and ebony-trimmed etched swooping Shamshirs that perhaps rested upon the hips of a Maharajah in Persia. All of these things fired up the imagination of the deceely ely young-looking teenager, and even made his Yami eyes darken with envy and awe deep in his soul room.

/You’re lusting after swords?/ The t ont one giggled, clamping a hand over his mouth, somehow finding the ideal ludicrous.

//Not lusting, admiring, I’ve never seen such beautiful and deadly objects, not in all the time I had.// The embarrassed ex-Pharaoh corrected his light quickly, as his partner leaned over a display of Spanish and Italian Rapiers, gaping the light and deceptively delicate-looking blades, allowing his darkness to see the understated beauty of weapons, scanning over pictures and diagrams of it’s extreme flexibility and accuracy in the hands of a master.

/Looks like you haven’t been looking in a mirror lately./ Yugi snickered in their soul-link, which turned into very audible giggles as he felt his Darker half blush furiously.

“Oh man… Oh man… This is so frikkin’ cool!” Tristain exclaimed as his eyes glides over the wicked-looking morning stars and maces, then wince slightly as his imagination took him on the thought of the aggravated damage those things probably did to a human body. “I can see why those old guys wear armor.” He whistled. “Right Joey--? Joey?” He looked around, finding his buddy looking at a display case on the far end of the hall, resting his hand upon the case, seemingly distracted.

“Strange….” The blonde muttered as his pointer and middle finger traced the glass. He stared at a large heavy crossbow that was two feet long, and the arc of the bow was nearly three feet wide, made of oak and yew, reinforced with wrought iron that has been embossed with medieval images of hounds and men on horseback chasing some imaginary beast. “It’s as if…”

“Earth to Joseph! Bzzzt… This is Earth to Astronaut Joseph Wheeler, please come in.” The spike-haired man mimicked Sci-Fi shows as he waved his hand in front of honeyed eyes, trying to grab his attention.

“Eh… Wha?!” He started, looking at his friend, blinking in confusion. “Sorry… must’va zone or sumthin’.” Joey shrugged hesslessly, but still hasn’t quite shaken off that strange feeling of familiar. Is this what Yugi’s other self felt when he saw those tablets? He wondered numbly as he quickly skimmed over the description:

14th-15th Century English Heavy Crossbow. Found in: Prague, France. The embossed imaginary suggested of it’s owner is of noble birth and of an avid marksman expeexperimental of new weaponry. It is unknown who had wielded this exquisitely well-preserved artifact.
Temporary Donation to the Domino City Museum from The Museum of Britain in the International History Program.

“Hm… an English Crossbow.” He muttered low, and then turned to Tristain. “Say, where’s Yugi and Tea by the way?”

“Yugi’s still gawking at the Swords, Though I think its Yami who’s in control this time. And as for Tea, I think she went off to look at the art gallery.” His hazel eyes rolling slightly. “I think that Spirit is practically lusting over the darn things.”

“Oh man, we better watch him and makes sure he doesn’t turned into Bakura.” He shuddered at the thought of it.

“Highly doubt it, though it’s a good ideal to keep an eye on them.” The brunette shrugged, tossing his head lightly.

“Oh! Kaiba, what you doing here?” The spirit started as he saw the familiar face in the reflection of the glass.

“None of your business.” The Billionaire retorted as he held onto his little brother’s hand, pulling the younger boy close.

“Out of curiosity, did this section of the Museum inspired the Duel Monster Quest VR?” Amethyst eyes blinked in curiosity as he switched control with his crimson-eyed Yami.

“Yes, on a cosmetic level.” The taller youth admitted, his sapphire eyes staring past the tiny teen’s shoulders, something obviously catching his eye.

“Hm?” Mokuba questioned as he s on on his tiptoes and Yugi turned around to see what the older Kaiba was staring at.

A medallion, of polished white-silver, gleaming like moonlight on breezy summer evenings, shaped into a dragon, twisting and writhing in a strange ritual dance, eyes gleaming with star sapphires, claws clutching an obsidian rose streaked with red and white. It hung upon a delicate silver chain, which seems to be not made for the unusual and gorgeous piecejewejewelry.

“That’s so cool, Nii-san!” The black-haired boy nearly squealed as he press his face as close to the glass as he could without squishing his face against it.

“Hey ain’t that Kaiba talking to Yug?” Joey asked as he glared daggers at the blue-garbed teen, who seem to be peering intently at a display of jewelry.

“Who else thinks a duster is everyday fashion in the middle of summer?” Tristain rolled his eyes, watching Seto Kaiba with narrowed eyes.

After a few minutes of unusual tnestness in the room, Seto took Mokuba by the hand again and exited into the Egyptian exhibit. Tristain turned to tell Joey that he left, when he found that the blonde is staring at the crossbow again.

“Come on, let’s get going and quit obsessing over the damn thing!” He growled in annoyance as he literally dragged his friend away by the collar, running to catch up with the smaller boy. “Hey Yugi! Wait up!”

“Ow! Hey! Leggo!” Joey thrashed, adding colorful language and threats of a good bruising as his friend dragged them towards the Egyptian Exhibit where Yugi was heading off to.

Le Sigh, Joey thought, I’ll just think about it later. He sighed helplessly, trying not to choke.
